Had a caffè latte and it was nice and creamy. The service was friendly and low-key. While it's true that there aren't a lot of seating, but it being a pretty small place, to put more tables and chairs would make it too cramped. Came in on a weekday afternoon, and it had a few seats to spare. It had a pretty minimalistic decor which I liked. Very nice little coffee shop, but with enough space, enough seats, enough sockets and wifi! I had an Iced Almond Honey Latte ($5) here today, which I can definitely recommend, although maybe a little too sweet for the real strong coffee lovers. Tax is apparently included in all of their prices, which makes paying a lot easier in my opinion. The only disappointment to me was that there were no croissants or scones left when I came in at 3pm. So will have to come earlier next time! The music here was pretty good, too! No mainstream stuff. Will definitely come again, as there isn't exactly a ton of good coffee shops in this area. read more

Quaint little place. I live right around the corner so I finally was able to check it out! My friend and I both got the seasonal lattes-- cinnamon brown sugar. In theory, it sounded good but the syrup at the bottom was too thick! It refused to dissolve & every sip was phlegm-like. It was undrinkable, $6 to waste! I was able to transfer my drink to another cup without the syrup on the bottom. I think this drinks works better as a hot drink solely, so the heat can help dissolve the syrup. I will not be ordering that drink again but I will give the coffee another shot! We were at closing time and left with a few free donuts! Made our experience better. Overall I paid $15 for two lattes and a chocolate croissant. Be aware that the fresh pastries might cost more than you would expect.... read more

Fav place to study and get work done. Great vibe and matcha lattes! I'm here basically every weekend and during the weekday if I get out of class early. My only gripe is that they're not open later than 7pm :/ I'm used to cafes being open till 10pm at least, but it is a common theme for cafes in the area to close this early (aside from DTUT, but they turn into a bar after 4pm and not really study friend after that time or during the weekend). I am beyond disappointed. I go to this place daily and am so upset and frankly perturbed I can't imagine myself ever going back. At 6:15pm the barista that was working alone on Sunday night: 12/17, was so incredibly rude to myself and two sisters, we all, feel sick. Not only did he seem pissed we even came in, he was mean! Staring at us without saying a word when we asked if everything was okay (it was so awkward we thought maybe they had closed early or something). When we ordered a drink he literally rolled his eyes and let out a big sigh! Omg! It was as if we were on some TV show for what customers will tolerate with mean baristas. This cafe really caught my attention especially as an out of towner visiting New York for the week. It's a short 15 minute walk away from the Mount Sinai hospital and was the second cafe I stopped by in an attempt to find a small cafe to get some work done. Unlike its neighborhood competitor Da Capo, I was actually able to find a plug for my laptop as well as connect to the internet here at Perk Kafe. It has a more friendly (read: unassuming) staff, with great lighting, plenty of windows, and more than enough open space that created a wonderful work environment. I also thoroughly enjoyed my chocolate nut donut from Dough, which was more than enough to keep me full for hours. Although I did not get a chance to try their coffee, Perk Kafe was exactly what I was looking for in a coffee pit stop while on my tour of the East Coast, and I will definitely be stopping by on my next trip to the area. read more

It's not after every heat wave, I find myself craving a hot chai latte and a chocolate chip scone. Today, I stumbled upon Perk Kafe after riding the Q train from Brooklyn in wet clothing. I was in need of something warm, and comforting. I settled for a chai latte and it was delicious. The chai to milk ratio was spot on, and definitely packed a fragrant punch from the chai spices. The chocolate scone was delicious as well. It was laced with orange zest, which is always a wonderful compliment to chocolate. The scone was also flaky, and definitely worth another purchase. The folks at Perk are the loveliest. I stopped this morning for a much needed cappuccino (and an iced tea for later), and when I walked out the door my hand slipped and the cappuccino crashed to the sidewalk. Fighting back tears, I walked back into Perk and ordered another cappuccino. They wouldn't let me pay, even though it was totally my own fault. Empty store 8:30am employees are chatting away as I wait to order. They forget to give me the almond milk because of course they're in deep discussion about being paid poorly and the horrors of commuting. So I have to interrupt them and request it. It's also A carton of COLD Almond Silk which makes the coffee lukewarm. I ask if there's a microwave and they say it can't be heated up. My favorite local coffee shop. Living near the 96th street Q stop this place is awesome. Starbucks is closer to my apartment but this coffee (Stumptown) is head and shoulders above Starbucks. In addition, the vibe is more relaxed so it's easier for me to work/study. Baristas play their personal music mixes rather than the typical, overplayed Starbucks playlist. I don't mean to compare to Starbucks because there is no comparison but in this neighborhood, there are not a ton of options north of 90th street for a more traditional style cafe so those are my only options within extremely close proximity. read more

It's a beautiful, spacious cafe with plenty of sitting room. The place is very clean and it also has a nice and clean bathroom. They had a friendly barista and Stumptown coffee. I started visiting this place on 2nd ave and 96th st, around summer 2021 and had a perfect first experience with a very nice guy giving me my coffee, since then I visited several times and stayed there for work, bought several things like pastries, coffee, coke etc and always left a tip as I sat there for hours here and there and liked the atmosphere and want to support small business (plus Starbucks customer service is horrific, and places are dirty), but today I walked in and said Hi and the guy behind the counter looked like he was upset with me, he barely answered questions, he made a face at everything I said or ordered, it was just so nasty to even look at him, he made me feel just yucky and awful to even sit and be at the place and made me feel like I'll never return and instead of starting to work, made me want to write this review. He was dismissive, totally upset, no pleasant, not helpful, not nice, not smiling, just overall I wanted to run away from the place, too bad, because I really think I'll never go back and this corner and area really can use a little nice coffee shop, oh well. read more

Cute cafe. My husband and I spent a couple hours here doing work. The coffee here is measured before being made to ensure consistency which I love. I got the honey almond latte and it tasted wonderful. It was the first day of fall weather and it hit the spot. My husband ordered a soy chai latte which wasn't really good. It had the chai after taste but it also tasted watered down somehow. We also got their coconut flakes donut which they shelve through Dough. So good. There was also a stream of ppl going in and out but it never got overly crowded and loud. The workers were all polite and friendly which makes it worth going back to. read more
