    Amazing looking baked items

Stopped here on our way back from Lancaster. My first time at a Perkins. We had Dana as a waitress. She was very friendly. First meal of the day. I was so hungry I didn't even snap a pic of our food. I ordered off the fit menu. It was egg mushrooms and spinach scramble. It came with wheat toast and a fruit cup. The toast had no butter and the fruit cup was not as pictured. It had one grape and the rest was some unripened melon. the spinach and mushrooms were barely cooked and the onions were just about raw. It actually made me sick. My partner orders a combo meal, which included pancakes. He was pleased with his food. The coffee was fresh and hot. The manager and older gentleman stood in the kitchen and would scream something about every 5 min. It was rather annoying. You could even see it bothered the employees. I did take a picture of the bakery case tho. Yum!!! We didn't order anything...but it looked incredible.

It's been a long time since I've stepped into a Perkins restaurant. I think the last time was back when I was a teen many years ago on a family vacation in PA. It was good then, and it's good now. I stopped in with the family yesterday for semi breakfast/lunch. It was about 2 in the afternoon but none of had eaten yet so the majority of us sitting at the table had breakfast. The only stray was Mom having a sandwich called the Super BLT. I had a Corned Beef Hash breakfast combo, my brother had a Chicken & Gravy breakfast combo and my nephew had chocolate chip pancakes. They were on the down side of the lunch rush and still had a fairly full dining room. Our server was very friendly and took care of our drinks while waiting for us to make up our minds. She was also very attentive and cheerful throughout the visit. Food order to serving time was also quicker than expected. They really did a good job. My meal was delicious and I didn't hear any complaints from the rest of the table. Portions were excellent and every plate was empty. I'm looking forward to stopping in again during a future trip up here to PA.

This Perkins is on northbound Route 41, just to the north of Avondale. The restaurant did get very busy on the weekend morning when I was there, but I thought they handled the crowd pretty well and had everyone seated in a timely manner. The food is typical diner-like food, similar to Denny's and IHOP. Service was good and the restaurant interior did appear to be kept in fairly good condition.

We always stop here whenever we go to Longwood Gardens due to its proximity. Food is nothing fancy, but consistently good, inexpensive. Service is quick, coffee is good, array of dessert to choose from their bakery. I think their garlic grilled tilapia is not seasoned for the benefit of those cutting back on salt, but it is moist and not overly done. One can always add salt and pepper to taste. I like their wild berry pie with no added sugar.

We couldn't limit our picks and started with the Grilled Kennett Square mushrooms, Camembert with carrot caramel foam, and the chilled pea soup with mint. We also ordered the Nashville hot catfish and curry soft shell crab. The caramel foam was delicious and paired perfectly with the cheese and bread. The pea soup was refreshing and harmonized well. The mushrooms were simply delightful. The catfish was cooked extremely well, with the crust (with a corn meal crust?) remaining crunchy and the fish juicy, with the seasonings on point and spicy. The curry soft shelled crab was the winner among many winning choices and was perfect. We couldn't stop raving about it. We enjoyed it so much, we overindulged and ordered the lamb. The meat was exceptionally soft, even for rack of lamb. Unable to resist the dessert menu, we finished with the rhubarb sorbet with basil water and granola. My wife is not a fan of rhubarb or basil, but also loved the dessert and its balance and uniqueness. The service was excellent and attentive, and the restaurant is very cute and cozy. My wife has worked in restaurants for years and we were both thoroughly impressed by the execution and care for all the items we ordered. It's one thing to have a creative and unique menu, it's another thing entirely to have that level of execution for it. Thank you!

We were seated at exactly 4:30, and our server was friendly and fast. RJ and I ordered Downeast Peach Mango Cider which was refreshing and delicious. We started with crab and artichoke dip and beef and weck eggrolls, and our table ordered 2 fish and chips, the "Luxury" seafood pie, shepherd's pie, and the beef on weck sandwich. My weck included onions, mushrooms, swiss, and bacon with a side of au jus and horseradish. Yum, what a salty, savory, spicy combo. The roast beef was very tender and juicy. The fish and chips were all enjoyed, as were both pies. We did not make it to dessert but will try that again another time. We were in and out in about 1 hour without being rushed at all. We will definitely return to the Whip!

I was seated in a booth and given a menu to look at. I requested an ice water and ordered the Shrimp Parm with Spaghetti ($14.99 plus tax) with choice of one side (chose mac & cheese) and garlic toast. The food came out in 12 minutes after I ordered. The portion of food was good which was comprised of 8 breaded jumbo shrimp topped with red sauce & melted cheese with a side of soft cooked spaghetti with a sweet meat sauce. The mac & cheese (orange) was very dense and rich. The thick slices of garlic toast were soft and buttery. After I was done, the check was brought over which was $15.89 with tax and before tip. I paid at the front register. Overall, the food I had was fantastic and I was a bit torn whether to choose a pasta dish or a traditional country homestyle meal. The shrimp parm was very tasty and hot as was the mac & cheese. The service was friendly and adequate. I was glad I stopped here instead of going to a smorgasbord restaurant, which was very packed and pricey. The meal I had at Ark House Diner was pretty reasonable.
