Pancakes, eggs and sausage. Sausage was the best I've had! And handsome grandson!

Had brunch here with my grandson it was very good. Very busy and all the staff were friendly and appreciative of us being there. We had the pancakes and Rueben sandwich. Yummy! We then ordered Thanksgiving dinner to pick up the day before turkey Day! We enjoyed it but no leftovers!!

When I see a line outside a restaurant it usually means the food is worth the wait and in this case, I'd agree. Located on a busy corner just outside of Chad's Ford, Hanks place has plenty of parking both in the lot surrounding the building and across the street in the overflow lot. We spotted the line before we even parked, as it spilled down the ramp leading up the the restaurant entrance on the second story. Fellow line-waiters seems content to wait their turn so we went with it. Apparently there's no reservations and it's first come, first serve - there's no list, they just figure it out when you reach the door and it all seems to work out like clockworks. We waited about 30 minutes and were seated at the bar-top. It was obvious they were short staffed but the absolute hustle from every single person working was incredible, and we never felt ignored or rushed at all. I've never had Chipped beef so I had to try the Hanks Style Benedict (poached eggs on top of a sausage patty & a biscuit positivity smothered with chipped beef gravy with a generous helping of home fries. I learned chipped beef isn't my thing, but everything was cooked to perfection and I have zero complaints - fluffy biscuit, perfectly poached eggs and what I hope was sausage from a local vendor, great flavor. I personally loved that every single coffee cup looked both handmade and completely unique, it just added to the charm of the place. Interior felt a lot like a mountain cabin, exposed beams and very tall ceilings; very unique style for the area. Pro Tip: be patient if/when there's a line, breakfast is worth the wait.

I'm almost never in the neighborhood but I have some friends who live in the area. It's not a surprise to me or anyone I know but for some reason I just had to get the bagel with lox and cream cheese with a side of guacamole. The bagel with lox and cream cheese I understand, but the side of guacamole was a little strange though it was still pretty good. I loved the food and the vibe of the restaurant was pretty cool. The restaurant had a family-friendly atmosphere and I could see that kids and adults alike loved the place. My family and friends also enjoyed their food. Although we weren't allowed to bring our dogs in the restaurant, we still had a great time. I loved the food and the people who took our order and I would come back here if I could and the next time I'm in the neighborhood.

The new Hank's is nice, beautiful architecture inside and a nice covered outdoor seating area. The acoustics in the seating area are loud, which could bother some sensitive people. The food was good overall - probably a 4 out of a 5. There was a fly landing on our food the entire meal, which could have dampened the good eating experience. I would say the food is on the higher price side for breakfast. The service was great. I would come back and try a few more things.

Since it is hot coffee poured over ice, you get a very watered down drink. I would stick with a flavored hot coffee. Boston Cream French Toast - Creamy. From the Bavarian cream to the whipped cream topping, it was very wet for the meal. I would ask for the whipped cream on the side so it doesn't melt into the hot french toast. Side of Sausage - Great cook. These were links, not patties. The casing on the link gave the sausage a nice snap. It was served piping hot and very well charred on the outside. The massive dessert case greeted me, brimming with colorful delicious-looking pastries, cakes, and pies. I was seated promptly and handed menus which included their specials of the day; everything from lasagna to moussaka to stuffed peppers to barbecue ribs. My waitress, Dee, came over to ask for my drink and went away with my order. She appeared again quickly with my coffee, which was hot, and honestly - better than the standard cup of coffee in most places. Mmmm As I waited for my order I couldn't help but notice how happy their patrons are. It's 1:30pm on a weekday so I see a lot of people who look like retirees, along with a smattering younger diners and some folks in work uniforms. A couple was leaving and stopped to have a friendly conversation with one of the people who worked there. It's obvious they've known each other for a while, regulars. A table over starting singing "Happy Birthday" to their friend. The 70's and 80's songs were enjoyable without curbing conversation. My food came out faster than expected and was piping hot. Toast options are white, wheat, or rye. I requested it dry as I don't want it slathered with margarine or something unidentifiable. It came dry but they included two mini containers of real butter with it. Heaven! Dee came over and checked on me in a bit, offered me more coffee. More yum. Mmmm. Total cost for a Florentine omelette (spinach and feta cheese), a whole lot of home fried potatoes, two slices of toasted bread with real butter and jelly, coffee, and a comfortable friendly atmosphere: $14.45. I couldn't finish it and took about 1/3 of the plate home for later. I have no idea why they're not between 4-5 stars for a diner. Food is solid, coffee is fresh and hot, service is quick and friendly. I think they're worth every penny.

My companion also found his biscuits with sausage gravy incomparable and enjoyed it immensely. The service was very good-hearted but rather disorganized. Three examples: 1) When we entered, we were offered a table or a booth, chose a table, and immediately were very cheerfully and politely taken to a lovely booth. 2) After asking our server for a few minutes to study the menu, a different server came by to take our order, and shortly after that the original server also came back to take our order. 3) One of our meals was delivered promptly to our table but the other went to a different table first. In spite of all this, however, we were treated very well and felt that the staff sincerely wanted to do everything they could to make our meal pleasant, which it was (mishaps notwithstanding).

I am guessing this was a typical Sunday afternoon/post church rush. This place is small (it is part of a strip mall and the tables are packed pretty tightly, but not uncomfortably so. That said, between the small size and all the families there, it was loud. I was not bothered by the noise, but it bordered on raucous. So, if you wanted a quiet place to sit and look into your date's eyes, this may not be the place for you. Luckily that is not my issue. The staff were tremendously friendly. Everyone from the person who sat me, to my server, to the three other employees who stopped by to make sure everything was good and handled refills, etc. seemed genuinely concerned about making sure I had a good experience. That brings me to the food. It was breakfast food (i ordered the western omelet). My bread was perfectly toasted the way I like (lightly toasted; If you prefer your bread well done you may want to let your server know first). Home fries were cooked quite well. Just the right balance of firmness without being overly crispy. And the omelette itself was well executed. I will say that the western omelet had a little more salsa than i expected on top but that's not a complaint. It was my first time there and I didn't expect it to have so much. Which leads me to the next point: portion size is great. The omelette, home fries and bread took up my whole plate. If you want to be filled, come here. Price was reasonable: a little over 20 bucks for the omelette, which came with home fries and bread, as well as a coffee and large orange juice. Overall, i was satisfied and I will return.
