We needed some breakfast grub during our road trip, so we came to Perkins. It's located off of I-81. Although the food was average, the service was one of the best I've had. The hostess and servers were extremely friendly and accommodating. Their kindness put a big smile on my face so shout out to them! I ordered "The Everything" omelette which came with diced ham, mushrooms, tomatoes, onions, green peppers, and American cheese. It also came with 2 sides- I chose crispy hash browns and blueberry pancakes (~$17 for everything). The food was just okay... it wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible either. The biggest perks are that the portions are filling and they have very affordable prices. Many dishes come with an additional 2 sides already included in the price, so it's a good value. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner along with bakery items. They have a discounted kids menu as well as one for those who are 55+ years old. They even have a bottomless option for certain beverages! Overall, it's an affordable spot to refuel during a road trip, but don't expect mind blowing 4 or 5 star food. read more

So when we came here thinking that we would be able to get something as a last ditch effort so late in the evening - we were wrong. The place was to close at 11PM. We arrived about 10:20 and were never served our meal. When we told our server that we weren't staying, she tried to tell us that our meals were being cooked at that immediate moment. In season, right now, is strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, cantaloup and honeydew. My dish included the last two and grapes! I ordered the Cinnamon Roll. It was probably frosted three days ago! They advertise their bakery. Do it right or don't do it at all! Coffee? WEAK! Go get a Dunkin Donuts coffee at the truck stop before sitting down. This is a good place for breakfast, but I wouldn't suggest going here for plain eggs and toast. Try some of their novelty breakfasts. For example any of the biscuit breakfast platters. Their pancakes and french toast are also good. Breakfast is a little more expensive here, more than a diner would be, but if you go for their specials its worth the extra money. *I haven't had much experience with their dinner selections so I can't comment on them. read more

Parking, which is in the travel plaza parking area, appeared to be sufficient, but I was there late in the evening so I cannot say how it will be during the daytime. As is typical for the Perkins chain, the food is nothing to write home about. However, the Ragin' Cajun I tried at least had some interesting flavor. Service, however, was fantastic! This Perkins is part of a truck stop. We were seated quickly and the waitress came for our order. It was late morning, so we ordered breakfast. We waited a long time to get the food. So long, that my companion went to find a manager to see what happened to our waitress. The manager ended up giving us our meals for free. Got seated waited another 15 min for the waitress DIANA to acknowledge us she waited on a lady that sat 10 minutes after us after another 15 min pass and she took our food and drinks order didn't get drinks for another 15 min at that point I was over it the lady that sat after us got food at that point. At no point did the manager approach us about the wait. We ended up getting up from the table after 1 hour and 10 min and leaving with no FOOD! this was unacceptable. The trip to Perkins on Linglestown Rd. today was a total disappointment. The food was good as always,but the staff is a totally different thing. Clearly they are unaware we have a pandemic! Truck driver here, I don't sit down and eat too often but occasionally I'll have a day off and I like to get some diner type food. It's a Sunday (noon-ish) and when I walk through the front door I'm quickly greeted and promptly seated. Servers are buzzing around because it seems like I caught them right around when church gets out and the place is pretty packed. Don't have to wait too long and my waitress gets my drink order, black coffee and a water, coffee almost tastes burnt or like they have had it sit around a while but it's half way decent compared to truck stop stuff, but I digress. I'm hungry and this is probably the only meal I'll eat today so I go big, I get the country fried steak and eggs, come with choice of potato and I opt for the biscuits instead of toast or 3 pancakes. The food was incredible! The CFS came out nice and crispy, gravy was just right. For how busy it was I almost said I wanted scrambled eggs just so that I wasn't disappointed when the over easy eggs were cooked too much but I slipped up and said I wanted over easy BUT, the eggs came out perfect! Hash browns left a little to be desired, seems like they cook them ahead of time and leave them in a warmer because they came out kinda mushy, like even the more crispy parts of it were soggy. Not sure if the biscuits are home made but I can't really say anything bad about them rather they were pretty good. Now, back to the coffee. They do bring out a thermos type of pot to the table and that way you have an almost endless supply of this almost bad, hot brown water coffee type stuff. I had this weird realization half way through my meal that I wasn't drinking it, that was telling. First cup I powered through just because I needed it, second cup i only had about half until I was finished with my plate. Then it was just me and this half a cup of coffee. I hate leaving food or drinks so I dumped 2 French vanilla creamers in it and took it like a shot. In conclusion, food was delicious but the coffee wasn't. Only reason why it's not 5 stars is because of the coffee, places like this should be centered around having great coffee. I mean they do have a lot of desserts in their display and my idea of this place is that people traveling through would stop by for a slice of pie or cake and a cup of coffee. We met some friends at Perkins. We were seated relatively quickly, however, our server took forever to come over. Then she took forever to bring drinks. Then she took forever to come back and take our orders. Probably 45 minutes after we came in, we got our food -- and it wasn't very busy. We noticed the pepper shaker was smashed in like someone had struck it with a hard object -- or smacked it hard on the corner of the table. We had five entrees among the four of us. Each entree was good but one of our party found a huge long hair in his country fried steak. Nevertheless, he continued to finish his meal. He said it was good -- not as good as the country fried steak at Cracker Barrel -- but good. Overall, the food was good and our server sucked. She was slow, spilled salad dressing on our food, took ten minutes to being extra napkins even though she only had one other table and overall just didn't seem to want to serve us. I left $8 as a tip in four $2 bills (on a $50 bill). While paying our check, she came up to the register area and was complaining to a coworker about receiving $2 bills as a tip. Major minus in my book because they don't have any meat selections that are not pork, no turkey bacon or no beef sausage. I ordered my eggs scrambled and I could see the white yoke dripping out, I ordered them with cheddar cheese and htey put american cheese, when I sent them back to be corrected, the egg came out cooked but it was COVERED in cheese, could barely taste the egg.
