It is one of the few restaurants in Jefferson City that serves Eggs Benedict, so if that is your jam, Perkins is the place to go. It has the best in town. My mother has treatments at a doctor in Columbia every other Monday. We always stop at the Perkins in Jeff City on our way home in Lake Ozark. On March 24th we stopped as usual around 2:30. Now my mom (82 years young) always has the turkey dinner and her free pie. We gave been doing this for months. We KNOW Mondays are very busy and expect some wait. We are not unreasonable people. Last time we were there a very pregnant young lady waited on us. I felt sorry for her running around like crazy. We left her a twenty dollar tip. On this last Monday we were treated like we invisible. We waited patiently 10 minutes to be seated. We sat in front of out menus another 15 minutes waiting to order. Food came right out and it was tasty and hot. But after that No one checked on us. We wanted a box to take home food and our pie. We waited and we waited. Not only did our waitress not come but she seemed to have disappeared. When I asked the other waitress she said " she went home. " said " I have other people and will get to you when I can. What? No ticket mo boxes no pie and she went home...after another brief wait..we went to the counter. Waitress number 2 came out. She said " how was it" when I said "well..." she cut me off and said "did you eat the food" I said "yes" she said " well it was fine then" we couldn't believe it. We stopped for the night on our way west and decided to get a burger that was local and a nice sitdown restaurant. Our waitress, Kaloni G. was amazing! She had such patience with our very talkative eight-year-old. The food was delicious and very filling. Been a while since I've been to a Perkins, and my boyfriend and I came for brunch on a Sunday. Upon walking in they were very busy, but you could see everyone working hard and together. There was a little wait at the door and some other guests were very impatient and rude but it was no problem as we saw them taking care of everyone in an orderly fashion. June sat us and made sure to grab our drinks right away, she told us she is the hostest with the mostest, and we agreed!! She made sure to let us know she is also the baker and that they had fresh baked goods available. Lainey was our server, she had a lot of tables and was moving quick and efficiently. She was very kind and took great care of us, even making sure to grab me extra stuff I kept requesting with a smile. I've worked in food for many years and this location definitely has some great team members. Let's start with the drinks, as a southerner I expect a good sweet tea but I understand my geographical location is not exactly a prime spot for that. I can forgive the tea not being good, what I can NOT forgive is bringing me out a cup that is a little over halfway full. Least you could do is fill the glass all the way with that poor excuse for that liquid referred to as sweet tea. Secondly, there's the food. It was fine. We stopped here on our way to a concert - 2 adult couples. More people came in after we ordered our drinks and more after we ordered our food - but there was only one young man server that we saw. He was the host and waiter and we saw him helping to cook in back, too. The service was super slow because the kitchen was slow and some of our food wasn't hot because our order hadn't been timed properly in the kitchen. We grabbed our own to go box from behind the counter because we were now running late. We paid our check when a different staff member brought out a to-go order, or I don't know how long we would have waited before our over-run waiter would have had time to bring our check. 5 stars for our jack-of-all-trades server and 3 stars for the timing of our food and 1 star for service. read more

We had to wait awhile for service even though there were only 2 customers there. The lady yelled at someone in the back to help us who yelled back "in a minute ". Food came rather quick. Portions were small for the price. I ordered a salad the waitress didn't ask me what dressing just brought me ranch. Excellent service and the food was fresh and delicious! I read previous reviews about the Benedict's and I was able to request my poached eggs on the side and it was fine. I'm not sure why this restaurant doesn't serve it traditionally but, they were more than willing to accommodate. There is a disclaimer about undercooked eggs so I suppose they want to eliminate any problems. Portions were great for me but, my mom is a meat eater so she requested an extra sausage patty. If I'm ever back in Jefferson City, I will surely return for their breakfast!! read more

We have been for breakfast 2 times in 3 weeks. The first time we waited for over 15 minutes, along with 4-5 other families, just to be seated. No one was sat in this time and no one was even greeted or acknowledged. We ended up leaving, along with other groups. We were there again Saturday morning. We were seated quickly but took forever to get drink orders and even longer to get food orders. The food took forever to get there and most of it was cold and hard. The service was awful, she was short with us, only refilled one drink out of 4, and made rude comments about our children as we were checking out. Bathrooms were dirty (at 9am). Sadly my SO and I (2 people) went here for breakfast this morning and weren't able to stay. We were told 20-25 min wait and were there for over an hour waiting for a table. Definitely understand being short staffed during these times etc but all the more reason to set REALISTIC waiting times for people. We saw people flooding in the doors with 4+ parties still being told the same wait time. We arrived on 7/3/18 from Texas and checked into Quality Inn right next door, so the restaurant was really conveniently located. We decided to eat dinner there (8:30PM), but they were closing an hour early for carpet cleaning. However, the manager (I think) was quiet friendly and apologetic for not being able to serve us. He offered us free muffins for the inconvenience which we totally did not expect, but gladly accepted. Great service. I'm not sure how good the food is because we didn't have a chance to eat dinner there. Quality Inn has free breakfast, so we ate at the hotel. read more

I have eaten at Perkins a couple of time's. The server acted like she would rather be somewhere else or something. She took forever to get to us so the day manager got our drink order. Finally after a good 15 minutes plus our server showed up to take our order. I ordered the Hearty man's breakfast with 2 eggs scrambled. When it arrived, about a 8-10 minute wait, I noticed that the pile of eggs they served was the size of 2 quail eggs scrambled not chicken eggs, two small sausage links, two very small slices of bacon, and a half of a smoked sausage, plus 3 pancakes. I personally can't eat pancakes so I was stuck with the huge platter with tiny portions. Pricing a so called "Hearty Man's breakfast" for $11.00 with small portions is ridiculous. The portion sizes were small and it tasted just okay. The only benefit was they give a 10% discount for Military Service Personnel and Veteran's upon request. I personally wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

I have been visiting this resturant for years. as of late the service has definitely gone down hill. Ate there two weeks ago. ordered turkey and dressing. The mashed potatoes were right out of the refrigerator cold. They put hot gravy on top apparently trying to warm it up. complained and to their credit they waved the bill. Went there on Feb 15 and stood with other people for 15 minutes. Only saw 2 people working. They were waiting tables and completely ignored us. Finally one of them came up and advised that there was a 30 minute wait time. Resturant was crowded but there were several tables that had not been cleaned for a time. I left at that time. Perkins was top on my list of places to eat in Jefferson City, not anymore. Also I am tired of hearing we can't get any help. I went straight to Oscars Diner it was packed with customers but got right in and there was plenty of help to take care of customers. Pay people better and treat them right and you can get help. This is a management issue. I fear that if something does not change soon Perkins is not long for Jefferson City. read more

I only reason it gets 2 stars is because of the bakery. I like sugar. I've had some of the worse service here. We got our entrees (should I even call them that?) followed by our appitezers and then the salads. Like a complete backwards meal. Our drinks have gone empty for upwards of ten minutes. I've never been the person to cause a scene, unless I'm really pissed off, so I just go with the flow. It's how the Germans eat, or so I've heard. But German food sucks, minus sausage. And some of their beer. And sourkraut. it seems I like more German food than I thought. Anywoo, so I've never gotten anything out of the food here. Driving through. First time here. Old Yelp ratings are now irrelevant. Give 'em a chance. One great server handling half the restaurant and the cash register. Very pleasant. Food served within 10 min. Healthy options. Had tator tots, chicken mushrooms and asparagus, and a bowl of soup. All hot and tasted great -- just as I remember from other Perkins locations.
