Perkins never has enough servers to accommodate the number of customers. One can sit for 15 minutes waiting for a server to take a coffee order. Just being seated can take some time. My wife, Mom and I went to Perkins on Tue for lunch. The lunch was actually very good. My issue is with the male with glasses who was at the register when we paid. We left the tip on the table (ensuring the waitress gets all of the money) and Mom (91 years old) has her credit card in hand and looking at the machine which the first screen has the TIP "OPTION" and the guy leans over and asks Mom "did you leave a tip on the table?" We should have left the minute we walked into the restaurant. When we were greeted we were immediately told there was a 10 minute wait so they can "get caught up". There were many 6 tables seated. Our server explained there was a technical issue for checkout and it could take longer than usual. Ok, thanks for the warning. We should have been warned that our food would take more than 30 minutes...sandwiches and fries...and that the 3 tables that were dirty when we walked into would still be dirty went we left. Don't go. Restaurant is so dirty. We were seated in a booth and my arm stuck to syrup all in front of me. Really? I had to ask our server to wipe the table and she seemed annoyed. And she did a half-assed job wiping the table down. Was the cloth even clean? The blind to the window was broken and buckled and the booth end was broken off and hanging. Does anyone care there? We sat at that same booth a month ago and those items were in need of repair then. The carpet walkway is black and needs deep cleaning or a good shampoo. Came on a Sunday early morning and noted not many cars in sight. Inside the restaurant was cold. We were seated promptly. Our server came over after a couple of minutes but did not introduce herself. We ordered coffee and examined the menu later choosing Senior 2 eggs omelets with ham and cheese. My wife got a pancake and I got a Mammoth Muffin grilled. When the food arrived the muffin was small, all food was COLD! Sent it back. When it came back it was totally tasteless! We had to catch the server several time to remind her we needed cream and artificial sweetener. The coffee tasted like it had been sitting on a burner for a long time. I go every Monday, because if you buy even just a breakfast, they'll give you a free slice of pie. My only complaint I have is that they continually run out of things. Yesterday, they said they were running low on pie so instead of giving pie out they were giving out pie cards. They were out of lemons for the drinks. The biggest thing is they were out of was sugar-free syrup, which is very important to diabetics, of course. When I ordered my pancakes, I told the waitress I needed sugar-free syrup and extra napkins. She bought the syrup in the napkins. The syrup was very good. We did have to wait for about 10 minutes for a table. Once we were seated, our drink order was taken by the manager. We did both order the potato pancakes and the dish was delicious. The table next to us received refills and much more attention. My husband's drink sat empty for much of his meal. So I get it!!!! It's tough out there. Just got back from Christmas dinner at Perkins and had a great time. Super busy, of course, and the staff were working at top speed but still managed to be friendly and efficient. Food was good; one friend had salmon, which she really enjoyed; another had what she said was "the best turkey breast I've ever had"; and I had the prime rib, which was done rare just as I like it. The crowds were large but even the customers seemed to be in the holiday spirit, and overall we had a great time. Filthy, filthy, filthy. The booth tables were disgusting. The windows and window sills hadn't been cleaned, ever, it looked like. The seats had gaping holes and were also dirty. The wait staff was efficient and friendly and apologized for the conditions of the restaurant. My husband and I will not return until something is done to clean or update the place.
