Pot roast with fresh fruit, peas and carrots, and what is supposed to be rice
Steve O.

A busy place on the weekend. The wait wasn't too long and the service was good. The breakfast comes in every form imaginable. Tried the pot roast for a change of pace. It was very good except for the rice which should never have been served, definitely not fresh. The bakery is excellent and the prices are reasonable.

Everything omelette, hash browns and rye toast
Jeanne D.

Breakfast at Perkins was perfect, especially because we brought home a delicious caramel apple pie for the Thanksgiving holiday. My husband ordered the combination breakfast so that I could get his pancakes (yum), and I ordered an omelette so that he could get my rye toast. He said his over easy eggs were good, bacon was crispy and my omelette was very good. Best part pie came home with us to savor over the holiday weekend.

Perkins is a family restaurant dishing out breakfast, lunch and dinner similar to diner style. They also sell fresh baked goodies to take home. I've visited quite a few times while in the area and I am not really too impressed. Service is average and the food is as well. I usually order the Belgium waffle platter with eggs and bacon. This place is just o.k. Nothing to write home about.

However, it is nice that this is conveniently located just off of US 19. That said, this is a great, quick bar type atmosphere with good food. They have a onion appetizer that is similar to the blooming onion at Steakhouse's. It is fabulous. They also have drink specials like a rocket pop during specific holidays and are quite tasty. Conveniently located behind steak 'n Shake in the Publix plaza. Indoor seating is air-conditioned and they have booths, which are nice when you're with family wanting conversation. Outdoor area is shaded and has a TV in a breeze (wish they'd clean up the trash in the retention pond because it takes away from this experience). Still, the food, selection, quality, and drinks special shells have brought us back on occasion.

The wait staff is very attentive and friendly and make us feel welcome every time. The restaurant is very clean. One warnihng: avoid going on Sunday afternoon/evening wihen the games are on unless you are a football fan. It's loud and you may have to wait for a table. But after all, it is a sports bar!

We could see that she had picked up another big table and it looked like they were running her pretty hard. When that happened, one of the bartender stepped in and helped us out. The server didn't even have to ask. You could tell there's a teamwork element there. That's a good sign. Another good thing was most of the food. The salad had a lot of color to it. It seemed to be worth the price. The fish tacos were good. Chicken wings and chicken nuggets were cooked perfectly as well. Even the picky kids enjoyed their meals. The things that needed some improvement - the wait time for food. When we came in, they had posted and did say that it was summer and because of that times can be slower. But wow. I was not expecting to wait over an hour for most things that needed to be dropped into a fry basket. The kitchen must be super small. Instead of fries that were partially flavored, offer chips. Open up that fryer for food. Some of the food had absolutely no flavor. I think the thing that needed the most love was the potato salad. Maybe we got the last serving, but it was dry, dry, dry. No salt. No pepper. Did not see any egg, couldn't taste any mayonnaise or mustard. Didn't even see a diced pickle. I was expecting southern style potato salad that was more creamy. It was like dry mashed potato's. It's a pretty rustic building, and when I feel like you put the word rustic in there, you have to give it some grace. It could use some TLC. But the view, the view is absolutely fantastic. We sat inside because there were no outside seats available. But from our inside seat, we could still see a good chunk of outside. Seating outside looked a little warm, even in the evening because we didn't see any fans. At least inside we had some air-conditioning. We would go back. We think that the good things outweighed the things that needed some work.

Also visited the Silver dolphin with my children, for Mother's Day and on St. Patrick's Day. The silver dolphin never disappoints. Hernando Beach restaurant that frequently has a short wait for seating... but is 100% worth the wait! Staff are small-town friendly and feels like home. While you wait, there is a large gift shop to peruse with decent pricing from local artists. Weather permitting, ask for seating outside. But if they are really full, the indoor seating is almost as nice (plus it has air-conditioning). Weekend specials on certain beverages, so early birds always save more money. We had the fish tacos, shrimp, tacos, watermelon Mojito, and steak sub. The fish tacos were divine and my daughter loved the shrimp tacos as well. Breakfast platters are healthy portions and also didn't disappoint. If you get there early, they have weekend mimosa and Bloody Mary specials (BOGO). Our favorite person was an elderly woman that cleans up the dishes. So incredibly sweet, kind and personable. Staff is very efficient, friendly, and food arrives rather quickly... along with beverages. Great view overlooking a canal, small deck on canal, complete with view of snapping turtles, cool breeze, shade, and areas to take pictures (dock, mermaid statues, dolphin statue, florida signage, etc.) We will definitely be back (again)!
