Perko's is one of my favorite breakfast spots in the Central Valley. The food is a bit above average diner food, but the customer service sets it above most. Nathan is my favorite server, he is funny and helpful. The ambiance is a bit nicer than your average diner along the 99. The coffee flows, the eggs are tasty, and I love their toast. The oatmeal breakfast is good, the skillets are bountiful, and the barn burner is my favorite. I have only been there for lunch once and I liked it, I really need to try their dinner. They have a good selection of food to choose from, but they keep it pretty simple. You will feel at home if you are a local or a traveler. We got here so late at night that I didn't realize I was in my old childhood best friend's town. I remember this placing being quaint and having good service so gave it a try. Let me start off by saying how fast we got seated, and our food, on a busy sunday. The guy who took our order was amazing. Very kind and attentive. He took our order and went to place it. My coffee came in but a younger female server brought it, and she brought two. I told her nicely that we only ordered one and an o.j and she said "the guy said u guys wanted two" so I kindly told her again "my husband doesn't drink coffee so therefore he asked for an o.j so would u be kind to bring us one?" And still insisted "the guy" said two. I told her "well please bring us an o.j no biggie". My point I'm trying to get across is that our waitress girl was really rude to us. But anyways my pancakes where so delicious, better than Denys and the omlete . We're from out of town but we visit often and we will try it again soon read more

First off, we where seated as soon as we walked in! The waitress asked what we wanted to drink before even seating down. Shortly after she came back with our drinks and took our order. Please teach your staff to conduct HR matters privately, and not in front of customers. Your shift manager, a man in his late 20s to early 30s, on the night of November 1st fired a young mother of 3 children in front of your customers including my husband, me, and my children. How distasteful was that. To make matters worse, she takes her 3 young children out to the dumpster behind your shop crying where her 3 girls were trying to comfort her. Please give your staff proper training. Very unprofessional and distasteful. We will not be returning. Regretting the money we spent for dinner for a party of 6 that evening. read more

Today was my first time at Perko's Cafe. My wife and I stopped there to have lunch. Seating and service was speedy, and our drinks were on the table in a matter of minutes. We both ordered burgers, which turned out nicely thick and juicy. The burgers were nicely appointed, as they came dressed with lettuce, pickles, and onion. The fries where tasty and more importantly, tasted fresh and not frozen. It was a little odd that forks were not set at the table, just spoons and knives. I will definitely be back to try some of the other menu items! read more

Came here with the family on a Sunday evening... It was not nearly as crowded as I thought... We had a great experience at this spot... My husband took me out for lunch, service seemed a little sloppy today. We've been here before and the nice waitress we usually get wasn't there. I ordered the California burger and it tasted like I was drinking oil with my burger. I felt so sick told the waitress she just gave us a $5 discount. Feeling to the point of throwing up I felt like I shouldn't pay anything for at least my plate. My husband enjoyed his meal. I couldn't even finish it only took a few bits. I have came here before, long in the past, and I didn't have much to complain about. Unfortunately this last visit was completely unsatisfactory. When we were seated it took the server longer than most to even take our order for drinks. As we scanned the menu to figure out what we wanted we still had a long wait. When we ordered I ordered an "Ultimate Steak" omelet, but to my disappointment it was anything but ultimate. The egg for the omelet was overcooked, hard, and tasteless. The steak, suffered a hard cook by the chef, was beyond well done and chewy. The bell pepper and onion, which needed a simple sauté, were raw, crunchy, and big. Anyone should and would expect for the veggies to at least be tender and cooked right. This isn't a hard task. I was starved when I entered this establishment so I needed to eat something, since the omelet was inedible. So i moved on to the "Country Potatoes" that accompany the omelet. Needless to say, these too were a huge disappointment. The skin was burned they had ZERO seasoning and the actual potato was undercooked to where they were hard and earthy. So moving on to something that I figured might be edible, the toast, I was wrong to figure that. The toast was burned and didn't have much of any butter on it. Again needless to say I left this place disappointed and still hungry. I will not be returning here at all. It hurt to even pay for this meal, which the prices aren't very reasonable either. read more

We were taking the kids to the zoo on a spur of the moment road trip. The zoo was closing so we decided to get a room then dinner and try again the next day. Came across perkos and decided to try it out and I am so glad we did! Their service was a little slow but not unusual for as busy as they were. They really seemed to know and care about their customers. The food was amazing and the cook really knows how to cook a steak right! Everything was really clean food was great, next time I am traveling through I will definitely go back, all around good. read more

18 months ago I moved to Madera and I found Perko's the atmosphere was great and so was the food portion they served. Well this last visit was a take out and like always my family loves the chili verde burrito well we were horrified when we got home and opened the container to find a half the size burrito that had a lot of hard potatoes with no eggs or chili verde it just some chili verde on top of the burrito. We also had another entree that was missing a item that was part of the meal what I couldn't understand was the restaurant wasn't busy so the food nor the service shouldn't have been bad yet it was. I had to return to the restaurant for the missing food item I didn't find out about the size of the burritos until I return with the missing item I would have return all the food since I didn't get the quality of food for the money spent. I will have to rethink ever again purchasing take out from Perko's also the restaurant would have had a contact us email I would have sent them a email concerning this past experience. One star is the best they receive from me today. read more

I felt really bad for our waiter, most of them were younger kids and this place was super busy on a Sunday morning. I had eggs Benedict, the sauce was okay but the muffins were burnt and the ham was cold. The hash browns were soggy. The strawberry lemonade comes in a huge jar with lots of strawberries though. Some of the girls that work here are snobby, I asked for a box was told yes only for her to turn around and clean the entire drink station and counters before grabbing a box so I could leave. Another strange thing, there were bell peppers on both of our plates(even though there are no peppers in either meals) which tells me they used dirty places, a dirty knife or utensil or cutting board which is a big no no because of food allergies. read more

Like I said it's been a while and I missed being called "Honey, Daring or Sweetie " by the staff. This restaurant was no different from the location that I normally went to for breakfast. The serving sizes here are enough to Perk you up! I ordered a basic bacon cheeseburger and curly fries and was amazed at how many curly fries and how big the hamburger was when it arrived. The service was a bit slow from time to time, especially with getting our check and paying, but all in all it was a great lunch experience. We decided to try it never been to this 1 before, we tried all the restaurant that night but it was the high schools graduation & everything else was packed. So I ordered the chicken and mushrooms It was good but way to much Garlic it drowned the chicken, the girls we're fast with taking our order & coming by our table to see if we needed anything, we ordered a appetizer & they brought it to us with our meal so we couldn't even finish all our food. Then we ordered pie I was thinking homemade & no it wasn't you could tell it was store bought but all & all Service was great & if I get passed the garlic my food wasn't bad. Heading home from camping in Yosemite we stopped for breakfast. This place was amazing for dinner breakfast. I had a skillet taters were crispy not greasy at all biscuit so good . Hubby and older son had eggs n bacon and pancakes these pancakes were the best we have had great flavor . Younger son had chicken fried steak the kid cleaned his plate ! You will enjoy their cheerful and efficient service, several of whom are family members, and some who have been there longer than the age of some of these adult readers. These folks put out the very best Fajitas in the Valley, despite the fact that this is generally considered a contemporary family food spot. And I eat a lot of Fajitas. Love their roasted jalapenos, as well (Chilis Toreados, but just say "Roasted Jalapenos.") My wife and I just enjoyed two home delivered Fajitas dinners; we are among the many sequestered during this Asian Cooties season.
