I wasn't expecting this café to be where it was, it's right off of University in the east side of West Moine. But it's clean spacious and comfortable. I had the half order of biscuits and gravy which was all homemade and delicious. I got two eggs over medium on top. I wasn't overly impressed with their coffee: I'm not sure what brand they use but it didn't satisfy my palate. As an afterthought I asked if they had any pastry. The food is top quality, the service is second to none, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. This is my go to place. LOVE THIS PLACE!!! My mom, sisters, and I discovered it a couple years ago during my first year at college. Ever since then, PerKup has been my go to brunch and breakfast spot. My fiancé and I try to go at least once every other week because of random cravings for their hashbrown tacos. At this point they know my fiancé on sight because of their taco obsession, and we always appreciate their kindness and friendliness. DELICIOUS! I'm so sad I didn't discover this place earlier! The staff is super friendly and vibe is very colorful and cozy. I ordered the pancakes with hash browns, eggs over medium and extra crispy bacon and I devoured it. The hash browns are SO GOOD! I decided to try the biscuits and gravy. It came with eggs and hashbrowns. My wife ordered an omelet and added some pancakes. The biscuits and gravy were ok but they were missing the good old fashioned peppered gravy taste I'm use to. The biscuits were kind of hard but had good flavor. The eggs were cooked perfect and the hash browns were good. My wife enjoyed her omelet she said it was a bit under seasoned. It was a nice little place that felt more like a small town dinner then a place you would find in West des moines. I might go back and give it another try. This is our new favorite breakfast spot in town. I happened upon it after scorned by our former place and I scoured Google searches for breakfast spots in town. PerkUp had great reviews, we decided to try it even though I had never heard of it. Turns out, I've passed it a million times and never knew it was there! Super quick to be seated, even at peak times. I always order the Jake, because it's one of the only things on the menu that I can control the ingredients as I have food sensitivities. It's your typical scramble however, it's less greasy and is better seasoned than other similar options at other b-fast spots I've been to. I love that I can choose lighter options like turkey sausage also, and it doesn't taste like rubber! The eggs and veggies seem fresher than most, too. The staff is SUPER friendly, and fast and hardworking... I watched them run around during our meal and it reminded me that folks who work in food service must be some kind of saint! The mocha I ordered, was one of the best that I ever had; sweet but not overpowering; perfect. Great place for a weekend breakfast! I came here on a Sunday morning with my girlfriend. 20 minute wait. It was worth it! She had a Hashbrown taco and a pancake with a Carmel macchiato. I had a jr order of apple cinnamon French toast with bacon and side order of Hashbrowns. I also had a regular coffee. They brought out the wrong coffee drink for my girlfriend.
