As has been the case on each of our visits, the food and atmosphere were off the charts. The service wasn't quite as prompt this morning as what I've become accustomed to, but the experience was still great. Best of all...I saw that they now have a daily Happy ("Flocktail") Hour everyday before they close - and it is a 50% Off special - so now I can add them to HappyHourDesMoines.com also!! Today, my wife ordered the Chicken Fried Steak and a Bloody Mary (see pictures) - and with all of the new items on the menu, our friend ordered the Smoked Corn Beef Hash (see picture) and I went with the Healthy Hatch Tacos (see picture). It was delicious, with generous sized chunks of meat in BBQ sauce under the poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. I had the Country Fried Steak breakfast with hash browns and hard scrambled eggs. Everything on my plate was perfect and delicious. The gravy was outstanding! Probably the best restaurant gravy I've ever had. On my next visit I'm planning to order the same thing, but I'll request gravy on the eggs and potatoes as well. We shared an order of cinnamon roll pancakes. They were delicious, and super sweet. Overall, the staff was friendly and efficient and we will definitely be back.

I love this little eatery! It's the perfect stop for brunch. My go-to is the egg, ham and cheese croissant breakfast sandwich, but they have great hashes, omelettes, and other goodies. If you have a side of toast be sure to ask for their specialty home made jam! You can also purchase a jar to take home. I love the strawberry, but tried peach last time and it was great too. There isn't usually a long wait, plenty of seating, and good service. I've never been disappointed. The decor is adorable too, very homey. Makes me feel like I'm in someone's kitchen. Overall two thumbs up! (Keep in mind this isn't a downtown fancy pants locale. It's a great spot for every day.) read more
