The team from Perryman just finished up a big interior paint job for us. They painted all the walls, ceilings, doors and trim, including miles of the old 80's "honey oak" that we've been wanting to cover for years. We could not be more pleased with the results. The whole experience from proposal to final walk-thru was excellent. The initial consultation and quote was very specific, based on room sizes, door and window counts, etc. It felt data-driven, and I had confidence it was thorough and objective -- not just a swag based on how the estimator was feeling that day. The crew that actually did the painting was fantastic. They had a huge team on site for the first week, including a group that focused specifically on the oak cabinetry. They all worked together to make it as strategic and efficient as possible, to minimize disruptions to us (though painting a house while you're living inside it is pretty disruptive anyway). They saved my husband's home office for last so he could work as much as possible and they knocked it out in only one day. Chris, the team leader, was friendly and energetic, and didn't balk even once when I pointed out tiny things that I thought needed additional attention. They just handled it all and made sure we were happy. In the end, they finished our two-week project a full day and a half early, and our house looks beautiful. We don't anticipate needing any more painting any time soon, but if we do, we'll be calling Perryman. read more

I had my kitchen and bathroom cabinets painted white this past summer and received a 10 year warranty. I was provided touch up paint in case there was a minor issue. Unfortunately within weeks, the paint on cabinet doors in the kitchen began to chip off. I tried to remedy with the touch up paint but that also came off. Instead of a relatively new paint job my cabinets look terrible. So this morning I tried to call the company and got a message that the number is disconnected!!!! I will be contacting BBB, Contractors Licensing Board and anywhere else I can file a complaint! This is obviously a scam!!! Wasted 0ver $8000.000 read more

I can agree with the last few reviews. I wish I had known the truth about Mr Perryman before I had anything to do with this company. Doing business under another name of PPR Concrete coatings, they absolutely left my patio in horrible condition. Sales consultant Rick Pearse came to my home, gave me a bid on painting the cabinets in my kitchen. Before he left I accepted the proposal and said it would be better to call the office the following day to give my credit information. Unfortunately, the following day, and almost a month later, I was hospitalized. I called the office from the ER to let Jordan know I was unable to proceed with the proposal until I recovered from my accident. Once I was home and able to unpack my shelves for the painting, I called the office to proceed. Sadly, Rick sent me a text saying the 20% discount was no longer available, it had timed out. They were out several times to fix things they should've had right the first time ended up in court with only $1000 off in our benefit and lost our 10 year warranty. To this day my house still has miss colored blotches all over. Owner comes off very professional, but has very bad customer service skills. When you start showing concerns in the work done he makes excuses and becomes difficult to work with. I pray for those who are willing to trust this company. read more

We recently used Perryman to replace our moulding and paint the interior of our home. They provided a two week schedule; one week for the moulding/contract work and the next week completing the painting. They stayed on schedule and did an excellent job. The attention to detail for both projects was appreciated. Great communication and customer service throughout. They painted the exterior of our house, as well as fixing some rotten wood siding. As part of the process, they also pressure washed the house, scraped, and patched small holes. They were not the cheapest option of the quotes we got. But after I told them we were going with another outfit for a lower price, the salesman, Rick, wrote back with a very long and thoughtful email evaluating the other company's bid and giving advice about how to make sure they followed best practices. These schedulers are incompetent, do not offer times to your customers if you can't deliver, this is the golden rule of working in a service department. I have not written an online review before, but in the case of Perryman Painting, I am compelled to make an exception because Perryman Painting has been exceptional. We have used Perryman for years for a number of projects, including painting the exterior of our home, sanding and painting our deck (and great care was taken with the sanding), and painting an outer wall that had been damaged. In each instance, the painters arrived timely and were always courteous; they finished as scheduled; and the final product was excellent. This review is for the initial consult only, which was a terrible experience. Prior to the appointment, I spoke with someone by phone who asked about the scope of our project. We then scheduled. The consultant arrived and promptly told me they only do "some projects" and the homes they typically work on are larger and newer than my home and located "in El Dorado Hills and Rocklin." He then asked "what exactly" we wanted done so they could tell me if that was "something we do." I reiterated the information I provided in the initial phone call. He confirmed that was the information he had already and that "we don't do" certain scopes of our project. So why did I take the morning off for this appointment for you to tell me something that could have easily been conveyed during the initial phone consult? A TOTAL WASTE OF TIME. Overall, disrespectful and unhelpful. A total waste of my morning. The age and size of my home is public information easily available with a quick Google search of my address. I shared the scope of my project before scheduling the consult. As a black woman and with the degree of dismissal by this consultant -entirely unlike anything I would expect or have experienced from the three other contractors who've come to my home - I'm left to wonder if RACISM or SEXISM played a role in the treatment I received. I would have much preferred this discussion by phone instead of reserving my morning for this entirely rude and useless visit from Perryman Painting. Certainly this business has every right to limit the type and scope of their services. But there is no need to show up at someone's home and interact with such disdain and dismissal. Perryman responded to my review on Google, so I contacted them and they came out to work on some issues. They finished taping the vent to the vent pipe and enclosed the pipe. They filled, sanded, and touched up the holes in the sides of the front of the drawers which were visible, and gave me two drawers at no additional cost. I was expecting to have the worker come out and repair the gash in the cabinet from the removal of the vertical strip which had to be removed for the drawers to be installed, but he was a no show. I left a message, but two days later I still haven't heard from them. I am done. We will be taping the gash in the wood so we don't cut ourselves on it. I am giving them 2 stars for installing the drawers at no cost. read more

As a former employee, I can say that everyone in this company is exceptionally nice. They are the best people I have ever met. The only problem is the owner. He is not a good manager. As a number of employees have stated: he has 2 speeds. One is no acknowledgment is a job well done, or two bad mood. I had my exterior two story home painted roughly 5 years ago by Perryman Painting and was happy with the initial result. Last year I noticed a lot of peeling paint some with a thin layer of stucco. I reached out in February to get someone out to at least take a look. A month went by and I finally received a response. Another month went by and finally some came out. Perryman told me that my project was a little out of their scope (odd) .... they obviously walked on my roof tiles to paint it the first time and I would assume that as a painting company you encounter some of these issues to begin with ( ie scraping, patching sanding etc.)...Long story short the stucco guy they referred wants ME to find a roofer to remove tiles and ME to find a construction guy to remove the balcony balusters. I think they just don't want to make an effort to remedy the issue since they aren't going to make another 10k painting my home. read more

Late last year (2023) we had a master bathroom remodeled by another company. They got a 'C' so we went to another company (Perryman) to remodel our kitchen early this year. They exceeded expectations and we could not be happier. Here are the highlights: 1) The original kitchen had some design flaws that resulted in wasted/unusable space. During the design process Tim came up with two significant fixes (ones that we would never have thought of). 2) Have you ever heard of a remodel project being completed anywhere close to when promised? They were on time - to the day from the original schedule. 3) Quality. Everything is absolutely perfect. A precise punch list was done toward the end of the job and all items (even very minor ones) were taken care of. 4) We had some other work done on some walls while the remodel was going on and Perryman kindly took care of this (his sub-contractor does amazing work). 5) This may seem trivial, but with contractors in your house for 4-5 weeks it is important: the employees were amazing to work with. Each one was polite, cordial, helpful, and pleasant to deal with. We would highly recommend this company - and we plan on using them for two additional bathroom remodels. read more

Super impressed by this outfit! From the initial contact I made with Jeff in sales,( who stopped by to look at our house and worked up a couple quotes for us) to the entire staff we dealt with. For the quotes, one just involved repairing some dryrotted wood trim at our roof edges and painting that along with all trim, another quote for that plus repainting the entire stucco exterior. We opted for the full job and they made our house look brand new again! Great people throughout their team: Brandon spearheaded and arranged the dates, Kyle repaired and replaced wood, Jeff (paint crew Jeff) and Frank did the bulk of the painting, Christian joined them for some days. It was a lot of work, they were diligent, earnest, and communicated well all around to make sure we knew what was going on, timeframe, and answer questions. Highly recommended! read more

Note, I'm still working with Perryman Painting to try to get my issues resolved. The road has been long, and not the value that I expected for the cost. Here is the letter I sent to them upon payment: Hi Brandon, Sorry it has taken me so long to respond. I finally got some time away from work. I apologize in advance if this sounds like a rant but I think you all need to know my experience so you can address it for other customers. Sales Process So the sales process was cumbersome at best, here are my line items issues with the sales process: 1. Getting someone to come out and actually perform the estimate took multiple attempts and calls in. I have lost count of how many exactly but I know we were frustrated not being able to get someone out. 2. Once we got the sales guy out, who in my opinion really set you all up for failure by way over committing (more on this later), it took a long time to actually get the estimates in. I actually had to call in about 3 or 4 times to finally get the estimates delivered. This is after multiple calls and voice mails. Communication is a general theme here that needs to be significantly improved. Why not just have the sales guy complete the estimate in his vehicle before he leaves. That way you can actually collect a deposit check on site. 3. We asked for an estimated for paint and an estimate for windows, I think our appointment was July 8th. We didn't get the Window quote until mid july and i actually can't find an e-mail with paint quote. 4. As part of the paint job we wanted some fascia trim replaced. I mentioned this to the sales consultant several times verbally and then when i asked via e-mail i don't think he understood because he talked about window trim. So now i have rotted wood fascia with new paint on it....i'm not excited about that. 3. Booking was just a comedy. We called several times to connect and were never able to do so. I felt like we were trying to book for a month before we were actually able to connect with someone on your team. We ended up having to up the food chain to someone who booked us but then never collected the deposit or asked for any kind of signed contract. That really puts you all in a bind, but again just another issue. Painting Process 1.There was a lag between prep and getting folks out to paint. 2. Prep did not scrap off old paint and sand down on wood surfaces, doing walk arounds i kept on finding bubbles of paint. I was told by the team hat they don't sand down when he scrape of wood?! I was surprised by that comment, I was always instructed to scrap and then sand down so it doesn't look as bad when its painted over. 3. Prep did a crappy job on the chimney. I had identified the chimney as an issue to the sales team. Paint was falling off and stucco was in poor shape. I was assured this would be appropriately treated. They through some sealant up on portions and then proceed to paint right over it. a. When i saw it painted I told the two folks who were on site and they said they would scrape it down. They did some. b. Later on after they "fixed" it i went back and found more scraping needed to be done. I called and talked to some ambassador? No idea, i can look up the phone texts as needed. c. He tried to do it and again there were bubbles and i could scrape off large pieces. d. He ended up calling his boss and said it was "Failing Stucco" with an implication that this wasn't his problem. e. More time was spent on it and I honestly gave up because I was more annoyed with the lack of caring about the problem and figured I would just watch it bubble and fail and then call for warranty work. 4. The sales guy painted a picture that the team would show up (his words "these are very experienced and professional people"). a. To this day i don't know who the foreman was, they never introduced themselves as such. b. The team who came out didn't appear to have a whole lot of experience painting c. I guess i expected some type of shirt saying "Perryman Painting" on it, just to make me feel like i was getting a quality job done. I wouldn't complain about this if it was the only thing between a good paint job. 5. Team moved items out the way to prep and paint and never put them back. I had to move all the items back at the end of the paint job. They also put stuff on grass for a long period of time which Killed some of the grass. They also moved plants and disconnected drip irrigation which killed many plants. I found a handful or razor blades left out where my children could have gotten to them as well. 6. Our windows were tapped up for a long time! 7. We had a long gap where no one did anything and the house was half painted. 8. I had to do multiple walk arounds and complained about several things over and over and over: a. Unpainted surfaces - I kept pointing this out, but there are more that i would point out today as well. (Limited on space) read more

This company painted the exterior of my house several years ago. They did a fine job overall but the attention to detail was minimal and a little sloppy. When they painted my mom's home, it was gorgeous. I can't help but to wonder if they send their best people to the more expensive communities and ease up standards in other neighborhoods. We had just purchased a 3,500 sq ft house and needed every wall in every room painted so we could get all our belongings in place. Because of a week of rain preventing outdoor painting, they asked us if we could start ASAP and they would give us a 10% discount, so we took the offer. The painters were all very experienced and great!! The walls were all very dark colors and they covered the old paint 100%! They also painted the ceiling and when they saw pale streaks, they repainted the area. I didn't have to ask them to do it like I have with other painters. They were always on-time, very professional, and I felt they were trustworthy. Great job! read more

We were very impressed with Perryman Painting and Remolding . We requested a quote and they came out on the day and the time they said they would. I was going to hire Home Depot to do the granite, but they couldn't give me a start date after waiting 3 weeks. I cancelled that job and was glad I did. The job with Perryman was started on time and we even received a schedule of when each part of the job would be complete. We requested our cabinets to be painted White. They were Oak. I was nervous that the oak grain would bleed through but they used one coat of primer and two coats of paint and nothing showed through. They removed the old lighting we with 4 new pocket lights we have much more light in that kitchen now. They fixed cracks in the ceiling and also installed our garbage disposal. It's almost like having a new kitchen. All much cheaper than Home Depot. My next project will be removing carpeting and installing wood floors or a laminate flooring. They did this job much cheaper than Home Depot. There were a couple of hickcups, but that was beyond there control. Thank you Tim. We really love our new kitchen. read more

They followed up with an inspector after the job was finished. They actually answered the phone and called back, promptly, unlike many other contractors I've dealt with. There were a couple of spots that needed touchup or recoating, as will always happen, and they took care of those quickly. I can't remember the crew's names now, but it was a father and son team. I have color coated stucco on the exterior of my house so the only thing that needed painting was the trim, overhangs, etc. I have a house with high ceilings and a very high covered area over the entrance, as well as some challenging areas to access due to height and landscaping. I fully expected whoever I hired to paint these areas to try and fake their way around some of these areas and/or hope that I just wouldn't look that closely. I look that closely. Thankfully, Perryman Painting had done a great job in reaching these hard to access areas and I couldn't find any areas that were missed or not done properly. The paint color on the eaves / overhangs blends right in with the color coated stucco. I'm having them give me a bid on the repaint of a rental property and I NEVER use someone twice if they fail me once. read more

This past March, we had a beautiful new double front door installed. The door had been finished at the factory, but the door frame and nearby stucco remained to be painted. I mentioned to the contractor who installed the door that we had leftover trim and stucco paint. The next day, he emailed: "Just a heads up. Our painter will be stopping by around 11 AM to pick up paint samples...". Later, an older man driving a "Perryman Painting" truck arrived and asked my wife to show him our paint. I wasn't home. Apparently, the contractor had subcontracted to Perryman Painting. The following day, I called and spoke to Tim Perryman. He said that one can of paint was 11 years old (the trim paint) and shouldn't be used. The other can was two years old (the background paint), and it shouldn't be used either. He explained that after paint sits for a long time, the solid particles settle out, and ordinary mixing doesn't restore the solid/liquid solution; it must be agitated in a shaker. He said they'll be buying new paint. I appreciated his frankness: some painters would have used our old paint. Two days later, when I arrived home, the painting had been done, but I didn't see any new cans of paint. My wife explained that the painter had used our old paint. And the quality of the work... Paint was on the door's weather stripping, door hardware and windows adjacent to the door. The painter had filled nail holes in the rough wood frame leaving divots and a smooth surface, instead of matching the wood. He topped off this performance by leaving masking tape and masking paper on the sidewalk and a used paint roller handle in a nearby flower bed. I called the door contractor. Several days later, a painter wearing a Perryman shirt arrived. He asked to see our old paint cans. As I watched, he snapped photos of both labels, suggesting he was, in fact, buying all new paint. Even if only to ensure future jobs from the door contractor, I expected the painter to do the job right. After he finished, he showed me where he had removed the paint from the window glass, weather stripping and door hardware. The patched nail holes matched the wood trim. I was happy, but then ... he handed me a partially used can of paint he had purchased. I asked for the other can of paint. He said he had used ours, but assured me that he had stirred it enough. After the painter left, I opened the can of background paint and found he had dropped two used paint rollers into the can. Revenge for being called back to fix a substandard job??? We could call the door contractor, who would again send out Perryman, but we're in our 70's and prefer not to deal with people who promise quality work, but provide the opposite. I am a new customer, looked up their website online and gave them a call for an estimate. Why would anyone, who needs to be nice and answer questions a customer has, to earn his business, be a nasty person with an attitude and has the nerve to tell me that I am rude, only because I asked them questions about the kind of paint they are using and other questions related to paint job. There is just no way in the world I will ever give my hard earned money to anyone acting like that, there are way too many painters in Folsom area who would love to beat the competition and be nice to their future customers. I've worked with contractors for over 30 years, and this by far, has been the worst experience I've had with one. They were not only expensive, but they didn't keep their word. If you go with them, make sure you put in writing, EXACTLY what you will be getting for the costs. Point 1: Mr. Perryman did not inform us that he would not use the brand of paint we had requested or we would have not used his services. Leading up to the job I exchanged over a dozen emails with Mr. Perryman and his wife many of which reference the brand and color we wanted and never did he indicate he would not honor the terms of the job. Furthermore, his bid referenced KM (for Kelly Moore) and our color choice and did not indicate he'd be using another brand. I'm not saying the brand of paint he used is bad. I'm sure it is fine, but shouldn't it be up to the customer to decide what color walls he/she will be looking at? If a painter doesn't want to use that brand / color then the painter shouldn't accept the job. Point 2: The ceiling issue was another problem with the job. He upsold us to paint the whole ceiling a lighter color but once the job was underway it was determined that the way the beams adjoined vertical walls would be an issue and the ceiling really couldn't be painted a different color as Tim had recommended. They wound up painting half the ceiling (one side of the beam) while leaving the beam and the other side in the original darker ceiling color. They also charged us for the full ceiling even though they had only painted half the ceiling. Mr. Perryman was willing to refund me for the labor portion that he overcharged me, (not the paint) or he would keep the money and paint over the portion he just painted (but it would not match the other half) or I could pay him more money and he'd paint the whole ceiling (but not use the brand/color of paint we wanted). Paying him more money to fix a mistake made based on his recommendation did not make sense so I took the refund for the overcharged portion and will hire someone else to fix the whole ceiling. Until then it looks bad and people question me about the ceiling. (Not a great calling card for Perryman Paint). Point 4: I did state my dissatisfaction both verbally and via email. Mr. Perryman was not even willing to apologize yet alone make any sort of concessions to make the situation right. Point 5: Mr. Perryman is correct that we had once been happy customers based on the work he did on the outside of our house, which is why we choose to use him again and why we had previously recommended him. However the lack of responsibility he has taken for upselling us on a service we didn't need and couldn't use, painting our room the wrong color/finish and making no attempt to right the situation has demonstrated his business ethics and obviously we wouldn't ever use him again. I believe a complaint is a gift. Mr. Perryman had a choice to attempt to use the original complaint and this Yelp review to win back a customer that was referencable and had spent a good deal of money with him. Even in his reply he does not offer up the simplest of apologies. The true colors of a business showing through. read more
