Stopped by about 40 minutes before closing today. It was my first time and I wanted to try the chicken mingus, but they had run out of chicken. No worries! I ended up asking the employee what they recommended, since I started to panic and didn't know what else to get. They asked if I like tuna and recommended the tuna on starlight (?), saying that it's a regular for them as well. I took his recommendation, and he suggested to get it on sourdough. I normally don't like sourdough but he said he doesn't either, and said it works with the sandwich. Ok I'll trust you! The sandwich ended up being absolutely delicious! Such a big sandwich, and I had to save half for breakfast tomorrow. I also ordered a ginger cabana, and it was my first time having ginger in a drink. A small shop located in Downtown Sierra Madre that serves one of the most excellent sandwiches I've ever had! I got the Chicken Mingus sandwich and it was delicious! They stuff the sandwich with chicken salad and apple slices. The apple slices really added a nice crispness and sweetness to the sandwich. All I can say is WOW! I came into Perry's today as soon as they opened after a morning tennis session. Right off the bat the customer service was spectacular. I usually go for a turkey club but was easily persuaded to try their tri tip sandwich (I asked for no tomato) available on the weekends only. My sandwich took only about 6 minutes in this empty, spotless, and cool shop since I beat the crowd and I was sent on my way. I was told THIS sandwich would bring me back so I busted open the greasy parchment when I got home and well....i WILL be back very soon. I ended placing a pick up order over the phone and the gentleman I spoke with was so incredibly kind! I pulled up 15 minutes later to pick up my order and the inside is super cute. It has this jazz themed layout and a cozy kind ambiance. I paid and picked up my order and I have to say my sandwich was very delicious. Man, this place was excellent. A buddy of mine recommended it since I was in town from out of the area and looking for a good spot to eat while staying in Monrovia. I ordered the Big Band sandwich along with a slice of Lemon Pie Cake, and both were outstanding. The sandwich was loaded with fresh pastrami, lettuce, tomato, and pickle, and the cake was absolutely delicious. Everything tasted fresh and homemade, real gourmet comfort food. My brother enjoyed his meal as well, and I even grabbed some ice cream for my little nephew. The owner was there during our visit and was incredibly friendly, professional, and welcoming. I have been wanting to try this place for quite a while now. What deters me is that they close pretty early and I cannot make it out here for lunch. I got their Hey Joe! which came with hot roast beef, pastrami, toasted hot link, cheese, onion, diced peppers, mayo & mustard. It was honestly a good sandwich but I think the bread could've been better. We did order via the phone because from what I read it gets crowded. On our way home looking up a place for lunch to hop off the freeway and Perry's came up . It sounded great . We easily found it parked walked in and took in the jazz playing people eating their sandwiches. It clean has jazz albums framed free water while you wait . The menu is not huge but has an amazing selection, from cold sandwiches, hot sandwiches, salads, hot dogs and my favorite lettuce wraps ( pretty much any sandwich can be a lettuce wrap). The gentleman at the counter was super sweet helping us decide. We both got the hip bird mine lettuce wrapped no avocado (it doesn't like me ) hubby got his super plain just turkey, lettuce and tomato on French bread . You can watch them making the food and omg the Tri tip sandwich looked amazing ! The sandwiches and wraps are huge packed with the freshest veggies and the turkey was fantastic! We also got chips me salt n pepper and hubby salt they were from dirty chips super good and we got fresh cherry lemonade. Both of us could only finish 1/2 so the rest is dinner . Hubby got a slice of lemon cake for later . Everyone working was super nice and I think the owner Perry was actually making our food ! We will definitely make the 45 drive to come back for lunch !
