The food was okay but not the problem. We ordered sliders, fries, a burger, and wings, and everything was very average American style food. The problem was the mice :( at our outside table, right against the restaurant with a planter behind it, we saw at LEAST five mice come out and try to find food under the tables. They were huge. Our server was really nice and moved us, and even comped our drinks, but they then sat another couple at the table, who then also asked for move. Throughout our meal the mice were out and crawling under the tables, and even crawling across the sidewalk and further from the restaurant to check out our row of tables. Honestly the worst steak I've ever had was a Filet Mignon by Perry's. Ordered medium rare, it came out literally bone dry and no pink whatsoever. It was well done / overcooked. Our food was amazing, but every turn was stifled or ruined by Edy, our server. My sister and I both had poke - super fresh and high quality. My granddaughters had chicken tenders &fries. We started with their onion strings, which are always the best. But, our waiter never checked in on what we needed (ranch would have been nice with kids food) and he was surly, unfriendly and seemed bothered. Some regulars next to us sent back cold food which seemed to set him off. Our check was then presented to us. No request for dessert or coffee. As it was my sisters birthday (noted on reservation) we had to flag him down to order a lava cake with revised bill. When asked if there was any whipped cream, we were told it was not at the restaurant. I've had plenty irish coffees to know better. She asked to take extra poke (probably the best I've had since hawaii) home but he removed her plate with wonton chips before they went into the box. My days of Perry's go back to a relative, Rick Farrell working as bar tender, a classmate, Dave Martin, as waiter, so it has to be 45+ yrs. My sister lives on Russian hill, and while she goes quite often, said it's off her rotation. I usually tip 20%+, but only left 15% - it was so sad. With so many restaurants closing, one would think there are pleasant and competent servers available. read more

After visiting this location, I can officially say that I have dined at every Perry's location! The food and service remains consistent across all locations, but this one hold a special place in my heart seeing that it is the original restaurant. I came with one other person, and we shared the calamari appetizer, the spinach salad with fried goat cheese, and the club sandwich with sweet potato fries. This was truly a delicious lunch! The portion sizes are large so I was able to take half of my sandwich and fries home. They tasted just as good that night for dinner. Perry's is your classic American restaurant and bar. Service on a Saturday afternoon at 3pm was great. No reservations needed. We've been here plenty of times - and it can get really busy past 6pm so if you want to get seated come in around 3-4pm on weekend. You always get complimentary bread sticks with butter, which is just average imo. We usually come in for dinner but this time just came in for apps and drinks. We always get their potato skins which is just sooo good. Crisp bacon, heavy cheese, and potato goodness. Definitely a shareable appetizer since it is very heavy. He took my order and made a really nice martini with Bombay, well shaken, with a couple of olives and offered me the menu. I was told the chili was a good choice by a close friend and opted for it. However, since it's cut into three pieces, the portions are small. It's easy to share, but I would have preferred it cut in half or left whole. We were invited to go to a birthday party today here for a party of 18. It is 53 degrees in the city and we have to sit outside when we had reservations that were booked earlier, not today. I ordered the corned beef hash which was very hard to chew, and lacked flavor. Also, we arrived early and when they told us it was onlgboutside seating, we looked at the seats outside under the awning and assumed that we would be seated there in the empyry seats, but with old grandparents, they still made us wait 15 minutes before the old people in our party could be seated. I was so hungry, but could only eat half of my food because it wasn't very good. I remember Perry's from back when I was getting out of college and it was a great fun bar with really good food. I saw the ratings today and ordered up some food to be delivered. I had a mac & cheese and a bowl of chili and a big salad. The food came fairly quickly, which was nice. But when it arrived, the bag that the food was in was wide open. It had not been shut at the restaurant. No staple marks. Inside the bag on top of the mac & cheese and the chili was the box of salad. The mac & cheese and chili were both covered, but the box of salad was wide open from the restaurant, The DoorDash driver carried that bag fully open with my food, fully open exposed tomthe elements. From the kitchen, through the restaurant, walk outside, a motorcycle ride to my place and then past a crowded lobby. There is no way that bag, fully exposed to the elements with my salad inside wide open, was not contaminated. I'm not a germophobe, but I'm also not going to eat a salad that has been fully exposed from one end of San Francisco to another while it's being delivered via a DoorDash driver on a motorcycle. I called Perry's and they tried to assure me that the salad box had been closed and that it must have popped open. I sent them a picture showing that the box had never been shut. You could see where the tab was supposed to go to close it. and the tab was never used. Absolute gross. Poor practice from Perry's. So if you like contaminated food, Perry's is your place to order delivery. This was not a DoorDash issue. This was a Perry's restaurant issue. read more

You know you've been somewhere too many times when you have a go to order! the chicken BLTA with a caesar side salad. I need to shoutout the random lady sitting at the table next to me earlier this summer who ordered a burger with a caesar side salad. I had no idea that was a side option before and at no extra charge! Idk if I'm the only person excited about this but that's ok haha. I can't really comment on the service this time since I did take out but the food was made really fast and it was easy to pick up. As a side note, they had half off bottles of wine in August. I used to love going to Perrys over the decades. My go to place alone or with others. Exciting to have lunch there this week. So many memories. Food was always good and generous in portions. People watching good. I used to love the 4th seat at the bar. I have photos of me there in 1988 and way before. The neighborhood is bustling again and plenty of shops so nice to stroll there. I love the Cobb salad here. They use a vinaigrette dressing instead of ranch so it's a bit lighter and healthier than most Cobb salad, while still being very filling. It was also very reasonably priced, which is hard to come by in San Francisco. So many over priced salads these days! read more

I was recommended Perry's for their burger and I was not let down-- initially. The first time I had it, it was simply the best burger I ever had. Medium rare, juicy, and beefy. Our party of six ladies stopped in on a Tuesday for lunch. We were so impressed with the quality of food and the service. Our Waiter Julia was patient and gave great recommendations as far as what to eat. But why do places never offer a vegetarian protein addition? It's such a blind spot. At least up charge me for something! I asked to sub more croquettes for the avocado and thankfully my server obliged despite hesitating. Otherwise there would only have been two croquettes which would be a dissatisfying ratio. The vibe of this place is kinda like a dive bar as it was pretty loud and hard to have a conversation due to the loudness. I ordered the French onion soup and the Caesar salad. The French onion soup was really good but the bread inside was kind of soggy and the cheese tasted a bit off for some reason. The Caesar salad was good and I liked the amount of cheese they put on it but wish they had added more croutons. This place was kind of expensive as I ordered two sides that ended up costing around $34 total. Personally, I liked the food but I can't justify the pricing for it as it's a bit too expensive for what you're getting which is why I knocked off a star. read more
