Love Persichetti's. I especially love listening to the many ways people pronounce it when they state that they are going there to eat or they have been there to eat. Regardless of whichever way one pronounces it's name, you still end up having great tasting Italian food. The prices are very reasonable for the generous portions that they serve. Their sauce is consistently fresh tasting and flavorful. They definitely follow a recipe because I have never known it to vary in taste. They have weekday and weekend specials that keep their regular customers routinely coming back. Even their wait staff are long established and have probably worked there for over 15 years or better. The menu features pasta, seafood and chicken dishes. They serve various types of pizza, sandwiches, soups and salads. They are able to accommodate small groups for private dining and they also have a separate bar area in addition to the regular dining room. If 2020 were a restaurant, this would be it. Saw their wing night advertised and what looked like yummy holiday drinks, so we decided to check it out. Bad decision. It was seat yourself, so we did just that. We were the only people with masks on besides the staff, but that's not my complaint at all. Restaurant is definitely old and dingy. In need of major updating and cleaning. Hostess or manager (unclear?) came over after several minutes and asked us if anyone had taken our drink orders. Uh, nope. Brought us the old, lackluster menus and mentioned the land and sea specials but didn't say what they were nor could we find them anywhere on the menu. The holiday drinks did look interesting. Ordered a plain soda water and holiday special. Asked about the wings which she failed to mention. She said just so you know, the wings are ten cents more in the dining room. Um, ok? Not that ten cents is going to kill us but would have gladly sat in the bar since we came for wing night and there was absolutely no signs at all when we walked in. So she knows we want wings, right, but she still walks away. Another server comes over and asks about drinks. She leaves and comes back with drinks. My holiday drink was ok but it was basically ALL ICE! I had 4 sips of a $7 drink special . I know in big cities $7 is cheap for a drink but in little old westmoreland county that should be a pretty decent drink at an old restaurant, not one completely filled with ice (see pic of glass filled with ice AFTER I finished the drink!) Ok so as she brings the drinks over, the hostess manager proceeds to tell us that it's going to be 45-60 minutes for wings because they just got a big order for dozens of wings! Our measly one dozen wings which is basically the whole reason we came here, is going to take an hour?!? If they had greeted us sooner and taken our wing order right away we wouldn't have had to wait for Mr. Huge Order. It was completely ridiculous. I almost feel like they were annoyed we were only ordering wings so they just said that. We honestly didn't have an hour to wait (had kids to pick up), so we just asked for the check. And get this...they added a tomato juice to our check for $2. We questioned it, and they said it was the club soda! Club soda is WATER with bubbles added to it. MOST restaurants do not charge for it. Clearly they don't even have a computer button for it. When they saw how disappointing this experience was they should have been apologetic not adding extra charges onto our check. RIDICULOUS! This no-frill place is a bar with a restaurant. Service is friendly. Food is edible but not memorable. We ended up here because Aiello's Pizza was closed even though they answered the phone and told me I did not need a reservation when I called at 5 pm. Door closing time sign was posted 7 - website posted 8 pm- there was nothing open in Harrison City in Saturday night at 6:30 that looked remotely appealing. We almost tried a place called Hungry Howies but the curb appeal stopped us. Jeanette is just 8 miles away , the business downtown is mostly shuttered but the town looks like it thrilled in the 50's. I searched in Yelp and found Pesichetti's great four and a half star rating. Salads were OK- Iceburg lettuce topped with diced beets, three black olives and cherry tomatoes - all very cold like the salad was right from the fridge and was too heavily dressed. Bread was fresh and sliced thick - We ordered A Taste of Italy- Lasagna, "homemade" pasta and gnocchi, raviloli and a big very over cooked meatball that was hard in the outside and dry in the middle. The plate was large and the pasta was swimming in a tomato sauce that although tasty was on the bland side and turned the tour into a swim lesson. The server placed a jar of pepper fakes and a jar of finely grated parmigiana on the table and I dusted my feast with both to give it a little bit more flavor. The eggplant parm was just not very good. The eggplant was sliced too thick and was not fully baked resulting in a bad texture and a very chewy entree- again the large serving was swimming in sauce. This a styfoam and plastic bag joint where the utensils are wrapped in a napkins and the wobbly tables are set with white paper place mats and covered with plastic menus and specials cards. The menu is large, the beer, wine and cocktails are inexpensive but also was average in taste and selection. The Pisano House Red was not very good but I drank it anyway. I give them 3 stars for effort but this very local old school throwback needs to improve in food and atmosphere - I left very full but fully disappointed. Entrees are $10 to $20. The home made pasta did not taste homemade. This is a prime example of big saucy average food that makes me want to cook at home instead of eating out. No Italian spoken here- this is third generation continuing a tradition that was started by their grandparents and the family recipes have been changed by time , styles and food supply. read more

Before writing the review, I found myself thinking I give to many 5star reviews. I tried very hard to think of something that was wrong or bad with the meal to justify a 4star rating; however, you can see already that I failed to do so. 5 STARS! Our table started with a plate full of fried food. I do not remember what it was called because I did not order it. But I found out quickly that you do not need to know the name to find the food on the plate delicious. There were zucchinis, mushrooms, jalapeno poppers, and onion rings. All were great. Now I know this is very unlike me, and if you read my all of my reviews you might think there was something wrong with me, but anyways, I got a salad. Yes, that's right; I got a salad, and I would not make a single change about my order. The salad was amazing. It was a loaded plate of lettuce, cooked mushrooms, cheese, tomatoes, chicken, and a hard boiled egg. I ate the whole massive plate. My mother also enjoyed her meal. She got the gnocchi which were to die for. I know it is one of my favorite pastas, and this place has got it nailed. Of course, this plate was left empty with only a little puddle of tomato sauce left for the dishwasher to rinse off. I am sure he was happy. Finally, my dad got his usual Persichettis meal: the Chicken Parmesean. I was sitting further away from him, but I did happen to notice that the plate was clear when the waitress took it away. Once again, I am sure that the dishwasher had an easy set of plates to clean once my family left the restaurant. Great place to go with a great atmosphere. An old-fashioned local "secret" among locals is too food not to find this gem that combines service, quality, and price day in and day out. An extensive menu of well prepared food with overly generous portions from Kids portions to fresh pasta is simple but complete enough to please most anyone. We started with a large antipasto that amazed my grandkids and filled stomachs with half left to bring home. Truly enough for 6 to 8 adults. The medium would be enough for 4 probably. Topped with heaps of delicious tangy fontinella and underlaid with American and provolone cheeses. Meats included salami, capicolla, and ham. Entrees included huge cheese lasagne, gnocchi, and olive oil mixed seafood linguine. The meatballs were lackluster and could have used some more flavor enhancers but adequate. Bread was fresh and tasty. Been there many times and have never made it to desserts that look great. Go there fir a relaxing great meal at modest Ned prices. I have been going to Persichettis for as long as I can remember, maybe close to 30 years now. I have only had possibly one or two not so great experiences over all those years and they are so far and few in between that I can't even remember. I typically order a pasta dish, usually the Shrimp Fra Diavolo, which I ordered today or some other pasta dish. I have to say, they didn't disappoint. The shrimp was perfectly cooked, the heat on the meal itself was a little warm but I was able to add some sauce which calmed the heat. In addition to the meal, I bought a bottle of their homemade dressing, which is aways nice to have at home on hand. I hope the closing of Restruant's don't stop people from ordering food for take out, totally worth it! read more

I gave this rating because my husbands meatloaf had so much green pepper in it all he at was his French fries and the bread. Had to send the wedding soup back to be heated, it was less than luke warm, and we were there for dinner, when you would think it would be steaming. My egg plant parm: the egg plant was cooked ok, there was very little cheese and I had to ask for extra spaghetti sauce (which has no taste). Although we were not happy with the meal we decided to give the dessert a try - black forest cake, and glad we did, it was very good. The service was good, although the dinner was brought out before I could finish my soup, which left it cold again. What ambiance, the room had too many tables for the size, but thank goodness we were able to leave before a large party arrived, which would have made it nearly impossible to get out of the room. For my first visit I would say it was decent. I had the chicken salad and my guest had cheese ravioli. We both agreed our dishes were good. We definitely have other restaurants we would visit first but wouldn't be against going here again. I think for me our server just wasn't welcoming and that set the tone for our visit. I felt we were rushed and almost a bother to them. Like I said I thought my salad was good and had a chocolate dessert I really enjoyed but what is just sticking with me was the service and that's disappointing. read more

Came here to meet my mother who was in from Florida who was born in raised in Jeannette. I've eaten here once before few years back and at her suggestion, came one of our faves, the Linguine Aglio E Olio. She got just shrimp and I had shrimp and scallops. Neither of us were disappointed. Love love love it! Stuffed peppers were delish as well. My son had the chicken parmigiana and my mothers friend had the chicken Marsala. All great big portions and all excellent! We ordered food to go tonight. My onion rings were burnt and my steak sandwich was full of fat. My husband returned the steak for a new one and the bartender held up the nasty one and asked if anyone had a dog. He mocked us and the second steak wasn`t any better. There are many reasons why this should be only 1 star. Very poor management is definitely the source of that. Although a lot of the items are good, I continually had poor experiences here. I don't recommend it for that reason. read more
