    Cancha. Very salty.
    Daniel G.

I would not recommend this restaurant if you are looking for Peruvian cuisine. The food quality is decent, but comparably more salty and dry compared to others. Portion sizes are generous for the price and the menu is quite diverse. Unfortunately, there are many grievances I have that make dining here a negative experience: 1. The menu includes items that are exclusively sold at a sister restaurant called "Peru 703". In addition, the staff wear uniforms that also have "Peru 703" written on them. There is no reason for this. Instead of separating the menus, they combine them and assume you'll just know what they serve here. 2. The customer service is incredibly poor. Waiters clearly have no desire to be there, lacking even the bare minimum of social skills. They weren't friendly and rarely checked on us despite the restaurant being mostly empty. 3. Our post-meal transaction was an absolute mess. They told us that their credit card machine was broken OR that there was a credit card fee. It was confusing, so we ended up pooling our cash to pay the bill. Fast forward 5 minutes and the waiter is running out to our car to get our attention. Apparently they gave us the wrong bill (from another table), so now we owe an extra $20. My wife goes in, counts the money in front of her (the total plus the extra $20), and had the waiter also count it. The waiter says we gave $10 too much and hands it back to my wife. Shortly after, the waiter comes running back to the car. She had miscounted and is now asking for the $10 back. This whole confusing ordeal was not our fault at all. Wrong checks and the inability to count money correctly (you know, the BASIC skill set required to be a waiter) both tainted the experience. 4. The ambiance takes a hint from Buffalo Wild Wings apparently. There are tons of TVs all over the walls and the music is incredibly loud. It was difficult to have a conversation with my family when 6 different TV shows and music were blasting through the restaurant. It also looks basic, lacking the charm of other Peruvian restaurants. Where do I stand? I give props to the cooking staff for assembling tasty meals with great presentation. Unfortunately, everything falls off after that. Poor ambiance and customer service, combined with a strange uniform/menu fusion of a sister restaurant make this an odd and underwhelming experience.

    Lomo Saltado Plate.

I went here today for dinner with my wife. We ordered the lomo saltado and also the aroz Chaufa. The place was pretty much empty so our food came out really fast. The lomo saltado was very good in my opinion. Big portion. The one thing I can say is that the rice is a bit on the mushy side. And the lomo sauce has a strong taste of Worcestershire sauce. Not sure how to explain it. But it was still good to me. The steak was delicious and tender. But I do feel like they didn't add enough steak to my entree. The aroz chaufa was good in my opinion. Again, rice was a bit on the mushy side. Not sure if that's how they make their rice to be. But taste wise, it was very good. I would rate my experience overall a 3 of 5. I also noticed that they automatically include 20% gratuity once they gave me the check.

We found this little gem in an out of the way place after getting off of 95 to look for a quick bite on our way to Soutb Carolina. It was not fast food but it was a small place with unusual fare and a bar should you want a cocktail. The Tallarin Saltado Criollo was basically like an Asian stir fry but only better. What an amazing dish, this was our favorite. Highly recommend!

The Spot at Belmont Bay is officially our new brunch problem!!!…read more We went to The Spot at Belmont Bay this past Sunday for brunch, and I'm just going to say it: this is the best brunch in the area. Not "pretty good for Woodbridge." Not "solid little neighborhood spot." I mean clear-your-calendar-because-you're-going-back good. We ordered the Breakfast Board for Two, and it was exactly what brunch should be: generous, fun, shareable, and absolutely loaded. Eggs, bacon, house-made sausage, smashed potatoes, Belgian waffles, biscuit, gravy (so good), fresh fruit, Greek parfait, and pastries of the day all showed up on one board like brunch had assembled the Avengers. And here's what makes it even better: everything is made from scratch. You can taste it. Even the sausage is made in-house, which explains why it stood out so much. The smashed potatoes were seasoned beautifully, the scrambled eggs were fluffy, the bacon had that perfect crispy edge, and the waffles were golden with just enough crunch. The biscuit was soft and buttery, and the cinnamon roll situation on the side had absolutely zero interest in helping anyone make responsible decisions. Respect. But the absolute star of the show was the spicy Bloody Mary. Best Bloody Mary I've ever had. Full stop. It had real zip, great spice, and that pickle salt rim took it completely over the top. Salty, briny, spicy, savory, it hit every note. Add the crispy bacon and lemon garnish = forget about it!! The drink menu is no joke either. They've got mimosa carafes, mimosa flights, sangria, margarita flights, brunch cocktails, dirty sodas, coffee drinks - basically, The Spot looked at brunch beverages and said, "Yes. All of it." We also had a mimosa, and it was bright, fresh, and exactly what you want sitting next to a big brunch board. We also had the chance to meet the owners, and they were fantastic. Warm, welcoming, and clearly passionate about what they're building. That makes such a difference. You can tell when a place has real people behind it who care about the food, the service, and the vibe. The Spot absolutely has that. I liked it so much that I'm already going back for their bourbon tasting Saturday night, and then again for their Father's Day brunch on Sunday. Great food, great drinks, great owners, great atmosphere, and scratch-made brunch that actually delivers. The Spot at Belmont Bay is a winner. It's a cute small place so make sure you call and make reservations!

From the greeting by one of the owners of this fine dining oasis to his two subsequent table visits; to the perky, unpretentious, attentive server; to the decor and abundant floral arrays; and to the variety and imagination of the many menu choices, we validated that quality. The Coconut Poached Halibut and the Pan Seared Scallops we ordered arrived in a timely fashion after we enjoyed the excellent bread course, followed by a surprise gift the restaurant offered, as well as our two salads. The Watermelon & Arugala salad and the Strawberry Burrata salad were fresh, outside the norm, delicious and presented artistically. The main courses themselves were truly memorable. We agreed that we couldn't have made better choices. Saucing was outstanding. Finally, the desserts. What a finish to a delectable meal! Chai Creme Brulee and Raspberry and White Chocolate Cheesecake were our choices. They were simply scrumptious. We will remember The Bourbon and Fig for the next occasion. We were lucky to find a real gem where people can relax and be unhurried. The atmosphere, the meal, the service and, again, the quality convey an attention to excellence. When you can find those elements together, you have a winner.

I had actually been to this bar twice before but since it is located IN the Alamo theater, I never got to try it because I would always open the main entrance door & see the theater employees & think I couldn't access Ghost Fleet (the bar) unless I purchased a movie ticket. Well, that isn't the case. I finally asked a theater employee who told me to just stay to the left & I could order from the bartender. I will say, for a bar located in a theater, I was shocked that GF has 25+ craft beers on tap & a few that I do recognize & enjoy!! Note: Happy Hour is available Monday to Friday from 4-7pm. The food here is average at best but still filling. The pizza is probably the best option for both portion size as well as price. Tip: You can make any pizza "Angry" (jalapeño, red chili flakes, & fresh basil) for $2 up charge. I ordered the Omnivore (Angry) because I was surprised to see that GF makes their own pizza crust in house?! The Omnivore comes with pepperoni, tomatoes, roasted red peppers, mushrooms, cheese, homemade marinara, Kalamata olives & red onions. It was a decent pie & definitely bigger than what I expected. Angry Omnivore = $15 + $2 (Angry). I also ordered the Kids size chicken tenders with fries. For 2 decent sized tenders & some fries, I suppose the $10 is on par with theater food costs... The chicken was surprisingly moist & tender. GF has an outdoor patio as well so one can enjoy a nice cold brew during the hot summer days & nights. The bartender was quite knowledgeable in each beer offered & did allow me to sample the Dark Hollow before I "fully committed" to ordering it. I felt $8 for a nice cold beer was worth it! I'm happy I at least got to try GF & when I'm in the mood for a stout or IPA, I'll definitely choose GF over the other eateries at Stonebridge that sell beer... Parking is ample & available on site. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area & want a nice cold beer. I do wish GF well.

The mini salmon cakes were outstanding and easily one of the highlights of the meal. The dry-rub wings, on the other hand, were forgettable. Skip those and save room for the entrées. Both the crab cakes and the lamb ragu were excellent, with the lamb ragu being the standout. We wrapped things up with the butterscotch à la mode, which was a great finish. The atmosphere is relaxed and the covered patio was a huge deal on a rainy day. Dog-friendly on top of that makes it an easy yes for a lazy Sunday afternoon. We'll definitely be back.

This place keeps the Belgian brews stocked across the spectrum. From fruity Lambics to Tripels (my personal fave) and Quadrupels, pales to darks. There's a lot to explore here. The food is pretty good too. The frites (fries) are excellent and pair well with the beer. They are thick without veering into steak fry territory, nicely crunchy, and packed with a pleasing amount of salt (and I believe a hint of vinegar). The waffles are also a standout, typically topped with light and airy cream. The merguez lamb sausage is also hearty and delicious. I wish the building itself was larger. There's only a few tables, meaning you may be in for a wait if you go during the colder months. And I recently had the chocolate mousse and didn't care for it. It was much more akin to pudding, and there wasn't a deep enough chocolate flavor to contrast with the whipped cream. There's no better place I've found in Occoquan to eat, drink, and be merry. I highly recommend you stop here when you visit.

This is definitely an old school Italian place, with dark wood furniture and oversized pasta portions (no complaints from me on that!). The pasta is always cooked exactly right (it's really hard to do pappardelle right as it's such a big noodle and can easily become a wet mess that tears apart on your fork, but each noodle here stayed together and didn't break apart), and the sauces are distinct and flavorful. From the standard sauces like alfredo, to the unique like a lamb ragout, they have deep flavor that keeps you eating until your stomach says no. The waiter was friendly and attentive, engaging my kids as much as me. We also went with the bruschetta, which was tasty (particularly the mozzarella) but I wish had at least one more slice of bread to serve as an appetizer for four.
