This is the best Peruvian rotisserie chicken place we've found since we moved from Alexandria. We always split a half chicken with yucca (for me), fries (for my husband), coleslaw, and sometimes plantain if we're really hungry. The chicken spice mixture is usually great and their green sauce is pure ground jalapenos, just the way we like it. We've been a few times and those times were 5-stars. This time, however, everything except the yucca was over-salted and the cashier & food prep people weren't the friendly ones we're used to, they were surly and hesitated to give us extra green sauce even though we turned down the yellow sauce. This place is a few miles from the highway and the traffic to get there is pretty annoying. The food isn't bad. Don't get the chips and guac... they give you a pathetic small thing of guac with them. The chicken is decent - I'd suggest the sandwich. read more

I've been to Peru's Chicken three times - once with my wife. I love it. The food is simple, the eating area is simple but the food is good - and healthy. No fatty fried foods here. I strongly recommend the Supreme Burrito. This is NOT Mexican food so don't be confused when you eat here. read more

Not bad, Not great Normally I love Peruvian, whether it is a 1/4 chicken or a burrito but I just couldn't get into the chicken here. First of all, this place is hidden. It's across from a shopping mall that is well designed with lots of signage. This place is across the street from it in a strip shared with offices. There is no sign off the Main Street so just rely on google maps and turn when it tells you to. Once you find the place in the strip and go in, you will find a restaurant that is probably family owned. Authentic food is served and the ambiance is very laid back. It's more of a take out place with a few tables to dine in. I ordered the 1/4 chicken with rice and beans as well as the guacamole. The guacamole was a major disappointment. The chips that they gave with the guacamole were Tostitos brand chips so that was pretty bad. But then I looked at the guacamole and saw how much I had been given. It was the little 2 tablespoon container. Granted it's only 4 bucks (I think) but the minuscule serving they have was laughable. As far as taste goes of course I asked for extra jalapeño, but when I tasted it, it was definite lacking in the heat department. Tons of lime flavor but no heat. Moving on to the chicken and rice. It was passable. Nothing to right home about. It was pretty standard fare. I was hoping for the chicken to be flavored a bit better but you could have just given me a rotisserie chicken from any supermarket and I wouldn't have tasted the difference. Underwhelming for sure. All in all, it's not terrible as the rice and beans were well done and the chicken was juicy. But as far as flavor goes I wouldn't expect much. Two big thumbs up!!! It's nothing fancy, but the food is exceptional. It's a counter service, plastic silverware, super inexpensive kind of place. We asked the owner what he recommended and he suggested the chicken plates with a yucca side. There was so much food it was literally falling off the plate. The chicken was tender and flavorful. The yucca was a real treat. Watch out for the super spicy green sauce. It's in a business park that looks like a residential neighborhood in the dark. Hard to find, but worth the search. I had to talk my husband into going inside as it was empty on a Friday night and looked questionable from the outside. My wife and I ate here many times during our stay in Winchester. It was right behind the appts we stayed in so it made it easy to walk over and pick up a quick supper. The charcoal chicken was very good as was the sides. Quarter chicken and two sides were only $5 for dark and just a little more for white meat so it was a very good deal. The chicken was always juicy and tender and we loved that blackened, crispy skin from the charcoal! Every side we tried, we liked especially the guacamole and the pico de gallo. I don't know what was in that litte cup of green sauce that always come with the meal, but it was very hot, but good, so be for warned. The only thing that kept me from giving this place 5 stars was the service. I ordered take out most of the time and the people at the counter were'nt the friendliest in the world unless you spoke Spanish, but since I could just grab my order and go, The food made it worth it. This will be short and not so sweet. We were there for lunch today. The food was okay, as usual. The service, however, was just about the worst we've ever encountered, anywhere. One person in particular, stood out more than the rest. Some young girl who working the register. She was an absolute a..hole. She didn't smile. She hardly talked. She jerked the credit card out of my wife's hand. She slammed the food onto the counter. When they pull chickens off of the rotis, they bang them onto the work space to loosen them up. When they did so, it was obvious that it startled my mother-in-law. This b.... got a big kick out of scaring her. Plus the bathrooms were filthy, and out of toilet paper. We will NEVER be back into Peru's! Never. Do yourself a favor, and check out Aroma Cafe in downtown Winchester. Food is excellent BUT 2 things- I've been going to this place for years and although the food has been consistent, their prices have not. They always seem to add in a little extra and It's kind of annoying because they aren't very friendly so to include a tip or whatever you wanna call this surcharge they seem to slip in there is not cool. Okay, so to set the scene, I had already eaten lunch somewhere else. I had to drop by a real estate office where this restaurant, unbeknownst to me, was located. I could smell the chicken and spices wafting through the air from the other side of the complex. I pulled a Foot Loops commercial and "just followed my nose" and to my surprise as I turned the bend was a Peruvian Chicken joint in Winchester! Holy Poultry Batman! So I had to have, as the Hobbits would say, a second lunch. I got half a chicken with rice and beans. The chicken is the BOMB! I wonder if they brine it or something, cause the flavor goes all the way to the bone. The skin is dark n' crispy and encrusted with wonderful spices. The only thing I wasn't too hot on was the rice and black beans, they were just cooked straight up, no seasoning, which is not a big deal if you got a a bottle of hot sauce in tow. Actually I forgot they gave me sauce with the meal - so never mind. Anyways to make a long review short I'm stoked to have found this place, AMAZING chicken! I am very angry!! I had heard that the food was great so I ordered it to be delivered to my office so I could have it for lunch. An hour went by and no food so I called the Restaurant and I could not understand what the lady was telling me so I asked for a manager and the lady hung up on me. Than I called again and finally got through only to find out that their delivery guy never came back from the last delivery so I this point I just canceled and called another place that reliable and placed an order. I am a patient person but what made me mad was their told lack of regard that I might be waiting ..they could have and should have called with apologies and an update. I ordered the chicken leg that came with two sides. I chose the rice and plantains. The chicken was good but not much better than the rotisserie chicken from Shop and Save. The white rice was flavorless with a few peas and carrots tossed in. Plantains were good though, freshly cooked and hot. The big disappointment and the reason for the low score, is the attitude of the workers. From taking my order to pushing my food to me at the counter, I wondered if I wasn't a gringo, would i be treated so rudely? After taking a few bites, I went to the counter and asked for some salt, after not seeing any on any of the tables. The man said they should be on the tables as he looked around and clearly could see they were not. He turned away and went back to his business of poking chickens on the spit. I grabbed a to go box, put my food in, left and went home to season my food to my liking. I won't be back that's for sure. read more
