Worst pet care company I have ever come across. They find reasons to charge you for everything, increase their prices without informing you and then direct you to their UPDATED website saying "see the price is listed here". Why would I check your website for the price when no one told me it had changed. It took 8 un-returned phone calls, and five very frustrating days to finally get it straightened out. Arguing with the very rude and ignorant Operations Manager, Amanda was incredibly aggravating as she is very combative and rude. She would not listen to anything I had to say and simply just argued with me. She insisted on making it known she knew everything about dogs but could not provide me an educational background on how she knew everything about dogs. The only thing this company cares about is money. Not your pet, not their customers. I highly suggest you find somewhere else if you're looking for a long term pet care facility. This company needs to focus on hiring nice and considerate employees, I would think that having an operations manager that is rude and inconsiderate is not a good look for this company. read more

Pet Care Plus is our one stop shop for our dogs. They are experienced with all dog breeds and their groomers are amazing! It's comforting that all dogs must go through a temperament assessment before they're introduced to their first day of daycare. We have zero complaints about Pet Care Plus and neither does our shepherd mix, Pippen! She goes running to the staff every time we drop her off which is a huge sign that she loves it there. We can watch her on the webcam and she is having a blast 100% of the time. The staff is incredibly friendly and most importantly, knowledgeable. They took the time to get to know and pair our high energy girl with the right dogs. The facility is well kept and clean - we just really cannot say enough about this place. After a horrible and traumatic experience at another daycare in Chicago we are absolutely blown away by Pet Care Plus is. Do NOT bring your dog anywhere else. We brought our pup, a 4 year old Belgian Malinois, to swim during a Saturday Social earlier this month and she had a blast! The pool is smaller than we anticipated, but that wasn't a problem. Scout swam after tennis balls for 2 straight hours and promptly passed out in the car before we even hit the expressway! Again, we have a Belgian Malinois .... she NEVER passes out! We brought her home and went out to lunch and saw a movie -- guilt free! Priceless! The other pups were great, and the people were attentive to their dogs, playful with other dogs, etc., If we still lived in the city we would be swimming here with great frequency. It is however easy on/off the Eisenhower, so even as suburban dwellers I expect we'll be hitting them up for Saturday Socials at least once a month. I had my dog's 10-year birthday party here a couple years ago and just recently started bringing her for grooming. The space is clean and they did a really nice job with my dog's cut even though the first time I had to explain everything by phone due to the pandemic. The staff is very welcoming and excited to see him, and our dog is always excited to go which I think speaks for itself. I have been getting my dog groomed here for over a year now and they never disappoint. My dog loves the blueberry facial and he always smells so good for days!! I went out of the country earlier this year and had my pup boarded for six days and they were flexible with the pick up and drop off arrangement. However, after Robin left (the old groomer) and I took my dog here this past weekend, I was treated very poorly by the new, young groomer. She was extremely unfriendly and immediately accused me of not properly caring for my dog. Then, she told me that the only thing she could do was shave my dog (I have a Goldendoodle) because the dog was so matted. I spoke with the manager, who was friendly but didn't seem that upset by the situation. I left immediately (did not get my dog groomed) and will never go there again. I was able to wash and brush out my dog in less than an hour, by the way, after I got home. So I'm very thankful I didn't give into this rude groomer's bullying and allow her to shave my dog. I highly recommend you look elsewhere; unfortunately, this new groomer doesn't understand the concept of customer service. read more

I took my dog here based on all of the positive Yelp reviews. I am really unsure how their rating is so high. I don't like writing negative reviews but I want to make sure no one makes the same mistake I did. I boarded my dog overnight on a weekend. Both when I dropped her off and picked her up, there only seemed to be 1-2 people working, yet TONS of barking dogs. Both times I had to wait outside continuously ringing the bell waiting for someone to let me in. When I dropped my dog off, the woman hurriedly took my payment and then got me out as quickly as possible. I left them with 3 bags of dog food (enough for 1 bag per meal during her stay) and 1 bag of treats. When I picked my dog up, I looked inside her bag of belongings and there were 2 full bags of dog food and the full bag of treats. The girl assured me that my dog had had breakfast that morning meaning that she was not fed AT ALL the previous day. Also, when I picked her up the girl informed me that my dog had peed on her blanket and she didn't have time to wash it. I can understand that, however, she put the blanket in the same bag with the rest of her belongings--gross. Someone at PCP contacted me after the weekend to see how things went. I explained everything and she said she would get to the bottom of what happened. I never did hear anything back and would have at least expected to get my money back after they clearly didn't properly care for my dog. read more

My husband and I picked up our dog after boarding her from July 3rd to July 7th, 2013. Well there were several issues with her stay, The main reason Pet Care Plus earns a one star in our eyes; 1. We packed individual food bags for each day, When unpacking her bag, I noticed 2 bags which means she did not eat for 2 meals. I find this very difficult to understand how a meal can be forgotten, it makes me feel like they neglected her. When we explained our concerns with the owner Chris he basically blamed our dog, need I say more. We will not be returning and will be telling our friends and families to go elsewhere. read more

Because my friend with an Afghan Hound raved about Robyn, the groomer, I started bringing my lab mix to her. He's got some odd hair on his feet and around his ears, and Robyn asked me if I wanted that trimmed. I asked her how often he needed to be bathed, and she told me that he only needed a bath when I thought he smelled strong--- but if he were a long haired dog he might need a bath every week. I thought that was honest of her. She also noticed that his collar was falling apart, and I mentioned that I was thinking of getting him a harness. She showed me a martingale collar (which this store does NOT sell), and gave me a catalog where I could get one for under $10. it made a HUGE difference in how my dog behaved---he's practically stopped pulling! Well, they just moved the kennel in September, and while it looks beautiful,I know from working with a dog trainer that there is a lot 'not right'. It looks sort of like an animal shelter. My dog will not walk on shiny floors. I had to put a runner down in my kitchen! & all the floors are shiny. Very slippery. The outside space they have now is less than a quarter of what they used to have. They have several daycare rooms for dogs, but when I took the tour, 1 room had nobody with the dogs. That could be dangerous. But worse, I had booked the appointment to have Robyn, specially, to groom Pep, and when I got there and asked just to say 'Hi', the guy at the desk said she was no longer there. He wouldn't tell me where she was, or who would be handling Pep. I asked to speak to a manager, and there was no manager available. I also asked where Stacey was, and SHE was no longer there. It's really hard to find a kennel or daycare space in the city that is safe. This may work for some dogs, but I'd be cautious and do some research. There should always be a manager...someone who has trained dogs. read more

NEGLIGENT...BEWARE! After our puppy stayed here Tues-Friday this week, he is suffering from Kennel Cough and Pet Care Plus never bothered to 1) pick up the phone and call us to inform us was sick AND 2) isolate our pup so that other dogs wouldn't catch this HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS illness (YOUR DOG CAN STILL FALL ILL, EVEN IF HE/SHE'S BEEN VACCINATED--LIKE OURS WAS). I picked up our dog yesterday afternoon and WHILE in Pet Care's lobby, he was coughing incessantly and sneezing. He fur was also oddly damp- when I asked the employee why he was wet, they told me "we spray them with perfume before they leave," which I later realized was to mask the smell of urine, which my dog clearly smelled like once the fragrance wore off during the ride home- GROSS! I had to rush my puppy to the Vet ER because he was in bad shape and they informed me he was highly contagious to other dogs and they would have to bleach down the exam room afterwards. These people are clearly boarding too many dogs for the handlers to properly supervise....ANY person with hearing and/or vision could tell my dog was sick. They are also negligent to not identify and isolate sick dogs from the rest of the animals in their care. I called the manager this morning and informed her of the situation and she couldn't really care less. Don't be fooled by the facade this place puts up. Far too many other boarding options in the city for this place to receive my business or yours again. read more

Because of Jennifer and her terrible attitude and unnecessarily confrontational and very rude behavior, I will not bring my dog here again. However, I have had other issues along the way... First of all, in less than 2 years, they left my dog unattended in a crate for several hours with her leash IN the crate over and over again - and she chewed through her leash - this has NEVER happened at home or at any other daycare or boarding facility. After the FIRST time, they assured me they had made a note and it would not happen again. After the SECOND time, they promised the same. Then it happened a THIRD time. This leads me to believe they don't listen, don't refer to their notes and put my dog in a potentially dangerous situation as she could've choked and should not be unattended ever while I am paying for daycare - not to mention I have had to replace THREE leather leashes as a result. While I have had positive interactions with most of the staff while I've been taking my dog here, I have elected not to come here anymore as a direct result of a very rude and unprofessional phone calls conversation with Jennifer. She was rude, defensive, raised her voice to me for no reason and berated me for expecting them to follow through on what they say they will do. I was polite and trying to be constructive while Jennifer continued to raise her voice and be very confrontational with me. I finally hung up because I couldn't get a word in edgewise and didn't want to be yelled at any further by someone in customer service at a business I patronize regularly. Our Dog Scoop has been going to Pet Care Plus for a year and half 5 days a week. He loves it! Can't get near the place without him dragging us to the door. Jennifer the owner has also hired new staff that is really great. They all know our dog Scoop and who his friends are and what he loves to do. Surprised by all the negative reviews. Both my dogs have been going here for sometime and both absolutely love it (see pic). I can't even get within 10 feet of their leashes on the days they don't go. Neither even turns around when I drop them off, they go charging for the play area (no love for mom). They love the pool in the hot weather and come back so tired from running around that they eat and pass out at home. Staff is personable and when any issues arise (dogs will be dogs) they are prompt to call me at work and have been responsible at resolving the situation. The staff made an extra effort to understand my rescue dogs quirks and he's perfectly socialized nowdue in part to their efforts and multiple seperate play areas. read more

I have a purebred Australian Shepherd. She is a beautiful dog. I took her in and requested that an inch be taken off her coat--a little more would be fine since the weather was so warm. A professional groomer would know that these dogs have long coats and there should be some wave and a little length to the coat. My dog's fur is literally 1 inch long. It is even all over and straight. They gave her a buzz cut. It looked like something I would do in the kitchen. I was hoping to find a groomer closer to home, but Pet Care Plus is not it. They apologized, but that doesn't make up for the poor experience. I would never allow them to groom her again. read more

Not recommended for toy breed dogs. I was really excited to see the great reviews on here, and discovered that this place is not far from my house. I don't have a need for doggie day care- I'm self-employed and have the luxury of bringing my two dogs (8 lb Papillion and 4 lb Chihuahua) with me to work daily. My 16 mos old Chihuahua is getting wonderfully socialized to people as a result, but doesn't have enough regular interactions with other dogs. He tends to bark a lot at first as a kind of greeting, which leads a lot of owners to pull their dogs away from him, but in actuality he's timid around other dogs and not at all aggressive, just shy and unsure of himself. Just needs more regular interaction ,and this frigid weather hasn't helped since I can only take him for micro-walks. I brought both my dogs for a temperament test and dog groom, in case I should ever need boarding services (my dogs are registered with another facility but it's good to have options), and also thinking I could bring my Chihuahua on one of my days off from work while I run errands just to get him around other dogs more. He's at a critical developmental phase and I'm trying to get his confidence and obedience levels up, both of which are improving tremendously. I clearly stated my objectives to staff on his intake paperwork and in person. When I picked the dogs up, they we happy to see me and nicely groomed. However, when I got my dogs home my Chihuahua's behavior rapidly deteriorated for the evening. (My Papillion who is 10 and properly socialized was fine.) He marked in 4-5 places in the house, cowered, hid, and generally acted afraid. I was really put off, especially since my Papillion had once had a rib broken at another facility. Toy breed dogs are a specialty type of dog, and require special handling. In retrospect there were some things that should have alerted me against this place as a good fit: They stated they were going to initially get my dogs introduced by placing them outside (my Chihuahua can't tolerate being in the cold longer than 2 minutes in these temps); when he acted scared to enter the facility, they dragged him by the leash/neck rather than picking him up (which is perfectly appropriate handling for a toy breed); they would not allow me to sit in on the room where my dogs were going to be introduced; and although they have a buzzer system on the door, they had no qualms buzzing in 100+ lb dogs into the reception area with little regard for safety or separation with my toy dogs. The final straw was calling to report my experience. I was upfront in letting them know the purpose of the call: to inform them of my dog's reaction, and that I was pretty sure I would not patronize them again based on my dog's reactions to the facility. I was not looking for any other response than just to feel heard and respected in my observations. The manager became increasingly rude and defensive on the phone, trying to "help me figure out" why my dog would have this reaction ,and shift blame by trying to suggest scenarios in his life home with me that would cause him to act this way, as opposed to as a direct result of the interactions he had at her facility. In short, I would recommend that if you have a toy breed such as Maltese, Pomeranian, Chinese Crested, Shih Tzu, King Charles Spaniel, Chihuahua, Pekingese, Havanese, Japanese Chin, Papillion, Matipoo, toy Poodle, and the like (delicate, toy breeds), this noisy, loud, chaotic facility is probably not for you. I assume terriers and other small breed dogs (like a Min Pin) with more of a robust countenance would probably do fine. I assume the reviews on here are well-founded, from a place of recommending a facility that is good with large breed dogs. I would not recommend this place for dogs like mine. UPDATE: I did receive a follow up call from the GM Bridgette, which I appreciated. She did acknowledge my concerns and stated she would talk to her staff about my experience. Still, the bulk of my review stands as I believe this facility is not a good fit for dogs like mine, although I do appreciate good commitment to customer service. Upgrade from 1 star to 2. read more

I went to a Valentine's Day dog party here and it was a great event and for a good cause - we will definitely be back for more parties! I also met Jamie, the trainer, at the party. She was so knowledgable and caring when giving advice about my dog. She spent some time with us doing obedience and manners training - she taught us a lot! This is a great business - I am so glad I found their day care and boarding services. I ended up finding a dog which, after looking for her owner, I got attached to and decided to keep. since I work all the time we were looking for daycare so that the dog could get excercise and also hang out with other dogs. First we actually ended up at a place way west of here that was cheaper and highly recommended. Well... after 3 days there, an eye infection and kennel cough we needed another solution. Plus our dog would plant all 4 feet into the ground and the last time she was there had to be dragged into their (NOT Pet care Plus daycare). I decided to do way more research for next place. AND I am so glad I found this place (after the dog felt better). You can tell they care about pets because someone is actually playing with the dogs outside. They have pictures of staff and their pets! The other place had a closed off yard that when i peaked through had no one with the dogs and looked like a prison yard. Anyways, this place is awesome. They don't hide their play area! Very good sign. They were nice to me even though I had basically "so i have this dog that i have no idea how to entertain it" experession on my face... I mean they were great. The dog runs into the daycare and probably likes it better then our house! She pulls me into the door of this place! It is kinda expensive by comparison but worth every dollar. When I asked for grooming the dog came back smelling awesome with great shiny fur! I think the lady that had bad grooming experience maybe is used to cheap quick in and out groom places- I am glad they asked about your vet records since this is a dog daycare as well - and if your dog has kennel cough and it transfers to my dog during grooming- I would be totally pissed. Having heard my 50lb lab cough like an old man, it is a bit disturbing. I know my dog can be a pain in the a**, and the fact that whatever they do she still wants to go back, means they know how to treat animals. I have also had her boarded here for 2 days a couple of times and always got back a happy dog that would stay calm and happy for days after. I love this place and I think that if you drive by their facility and then drive by other dog daycare places you will totally pick this one. I mean a fun playfull area where dogs separated by size etc or a walled off prison concrete looking yard? I mean come on? I think whatever they had bad happen was in 2007 and is fixed, it's an awesome place! read more

I love Kelly who is a groomer. Jack loves her and he doesn't always like groomers. Kelly worked at another place I took my dog and I tried them only once after she left. I am really shocked to see the few negative reviews here...SHOCKED!! I rarely comment because, well, I suppose I have nothing to bitch about, and quite frankly don't have the time to do extra curricular writing, but I felt it necessary to give some props to the peeps to take care of my pooch while I'm sipping Margie's whilst chasing my offspring around the pool. We have been using PCP for about the last 11 years, in which during that time we have had our two dogs, our late dog Frieda and now, our new puppy Lucy board there when we go on extended vacations. They love it, we love it, yay! I should also mention, also during this time, we have had two children, so let me be frank in saying, that we are boarding our dog here not said human children, so if my DOG skips a meal due to anxiety or forgetfulness (which I doubt) or whatever I will not, repeat WILL NOT lose one wink of sleep over it. Without a doubt this boarding and daycare facility is the best there is in the city, but, DUH, it's not grandma's house!! Likely, there are no bacon scraps being tossed her way, copious amounts of dog food heaping out of the bowls, constant nonstop belly rubs, and "Oh, it's just one week, let the dog sleep in my king sized soft bed with me, what harm could come of it???". My pooch is happy when we drop her off, she comes home happy. Nuff said. It's a doggie dog world, and I'm just happy that she's happy. Give PCP a try, you're pooch will be hooked... :) read more

I've been going to PCP for quite some time now, and I just want to say that this place is amazing. The staff are always nice, and their follow up emails, and scheduling of walks/daycare/taxis are so simple. I recently had the opportunity to get one of my dogs, Togo, trained while he was staying at PCP for a week. The trainer, Jamie, is a godsend. Togo has a fear of skateboard, and if he hears one from a few blocks away, will turn 180 and run. This from a 75 lb dog can catch you off guard sometimes, and there can be injuries. Enter Jamie. In just a few sessions, she was able to desensitize him enough that when he sees a skateboard, he won't bolt, but rather cautiously approach it. I did not think it was possible to get Togo anywhere near a skateboard, but she was able to do it. I highly highly recommend using Jamie if you have any behavioral or training issues you want sorted out with your pups. Otherwise, working with everyone at PCP (mainly Sarah, Kat, Annette, Miriam, and now Jamie) has always been, and is always a delight. read more

Our dog has been going here about once/week for a little over a year. We used to send him to Urban Outsitters, but the place seemed crazy crowded and he always smelled like a mix of feces and bleach. Not so with PCP (ok, he smells- a little, but he's a dog and probably is getting slobbered on and stepping in poo). On his first day, they sent us an email with an update and pictures. The staff knows our dog, which is particularly impressive since he's not there on a consistent basis. They have given me tips on how to deal with his over-enthusiasm on my arrival and seem to genuinely like him. The facilities are sparkling, and they are now really focusing on reservations to keep from over-crowding, which is particularly important with large dogs like ours. The swimming pool is awesome, and I'm a sucker who pays the extra $5 a day so my pooch can doggy paddle. He recently got a bite on his neck at daycare which we didn't notice until later that night, and our vet suggested we mention it to PCP. They were very responsive, apologetic and made us feel much better. There's not a lot you can do- dogs will be dogs, but I appreciated the fact that they addressed it immediately. The only downfall is that the hours are only 7a-7p which is tough to coordinate around. I have rolled up a few minutes late and they have been very forgiving about it. Pricing is pretty standard- we buy packs of 10 and it comes to about $25/day and an extra $5/day for swimming in the warmer months. read more

The staff tries, but this place is a disaster. It's filthy, there are too many dogs and not enough staff, and the entire facility looks like it could crumble at any time. I've heard about renovations, but.....let's see. The dogs seem happy enough, but for the most part they are bored just running around on concrete. Should and could be sooooo much better. read more

I've been taking my dog here for at least 2 years now, and both him and I absolutely love it. Even after moving to a new neighborhood not within walking distance, I was able to stay with PCP through the use of their taxi service. It is very convenient, door to door pickup and drop-off. I also use them regularly for overnight boarding and have started to use Jamie for dog training. Across the board, very happy with all their people and services. read more

I am astonished by the negative reviews, this place is top notch! There are no restrictions on breeds, as long as they pass the temperament and are able to accomodate special needs and requests that othere daycare/boarding/grooming centers wont. Best part -- the K9 Oasis - you can swim with your dog, AND ITS STILL CLEANER THAN THE LAKE or a park district pool. They are busy sometimes but honestly everytime, I have been there, the entire facility is SUPER CLEAN. They give you tours if you need one, they even offered to let my dog stay with them in the front office, if need be but my dog is a social butterfly. I was really impressed with the level of services that pet care plus offers. They also foster animals there! The owners dog, and some of the employees can usually be found here also. We love Pet Care Plus's grooming! We rescued our 7 year old Rottweiler/German Shepherd mix, Abby, a year ago. She's the sweetest thing but is dog reactive and has chronic UTI's. We have had trouble finding the right grooming solution for her due to these challenges, but Mariam at PCP is the answer!! All of the staff at PCP listened to our concerns and challenges and helped us find grooming times when Abby can be the only dog in the room so she doesn't get stressed. We haven't had any health issues post-grooming like we had at other places. The whole staff knows how to handle Abby as soon as we walk in the door. Abby is so HAPPY when we come pick her up after grooming. Plus, the facilities are beautiful and CLEAN! Can't rave about PCP enough! read more

I've been a long time Pet care plus customer and my 2 dogs love it. They drag me to the door every time. Since PetCare Plus took over the space from a previous owner they have really cleaned the place up and added a doggie pool (which unfortunately I didn't have time to take advantage of last summer). the space is old (its in the warehouse district of the west loop) so it doesn't have the allure of some of the ridiculous upscale things they do at some of these other places- but these are DOGS... and don't get me wrong- I love my dogs like they are my kids. But dogs play, dogs get dirty, dogs are dogs- and my dog doesn't care about all the little pretty stuff. All they care about is having a good time and being social. they are very accommodating and my dogs always come home tired. I have used the webcam on occassion (though can't always get through from my office due to firewall issues). The staff really knows my dogs and I highly recommend them for doggie day care... my dogs always come home tired and happy. read more
