I have boarded my dog Tuk here two or three times. I was interested in using this center, because of their outside play groups and pool. However, after trying them out a few times I will not be using their services for my dog again. My main concerns are the following: 1. the outside spaces have no shade or running water for the dogs (with the obvious exception of the pool yard which you have to pay extra for.). Even if your dog has a pool day, he will still be put in the pool-less outdoor area after his pool session and a rest break. My dog is german-shepherd part-husky and overheats super easily. When booking his last boarding session I requested that they note his susceptibility to heat to make sure he doesn't spend excess time outside without shade/water. However, I consistently checked the video (which is a really nice feature of this place) throughout the day and he was in the outdoor area for over two hours in 80F heat. He was just walking in circles panting and trying to find shade (which there was a slight rectangle of shade from the fence that increased as the sun went lower in the sky). I called to insist they bring him inside, which they did, but they also said they had no note of his heat susceptibility. The lack of writing the note down is one thing, but they also should have recognized signs of heat exhaustion and that dogs should not stay in a square of exposed sun on the cement in mid-day heat for two hours. They really need have a better design for their outdoor play space to include shade and running water (a hose? kiddy pools?) ... anything to give the dogs a relief in the hot and muggy summer heat. 2. The front entrance is gorgeous - smells lovely and is clearly well-thought through to impress clients. However, when you pick your dog up from the back entrance (e.g. for a late pick-up) the smell of urine will quite literally shock you. It smells worse than a lot of pounds I've been to, the ammonia is enough to sting your eyes, and I am quite skeptical of their cleanliness (see other reviews regarding dogs getting sick here). Also, when I picked my dog up from an extended stay over Christmas, his bedding was covered in urine. I understand accidents happen, but to allow a dog to sleep continually in urine-soaked bedding is just irresponsible and testament to a lack of conscientiousness of this place. This place may work well for some dogs, but I know my mind will not be at ease leaving him here after these experiences, so we will be going elsewhere. I would just suggest stopping in for a tour of the back areas to see if it will work for your dog before dropping him off here. They charge a premium so make sure you are getting what you pay for. read more

Turk LOVES going to Pet Care Plus! His tail wags with excitement when we pull up and he practically drags me in the door! I love that everyone knows us and welcomes us! Turk seems to really love all the staff there. He always goes up to all of them with excitement! I love being able to pop online and watch him playing. You better have deep pockets to go to this place, every time you turn around they raise prices on you. Current price to have your dog walked for 30 minutes 3 days a week is 18$ per walk. They do not care if you are a loyal customer or how long you have been with them, when they get a chance they will raise prices on you and smile and tell you goodbye when you question them. I have literally never experienced a business that cares so little about customer loyalty. They also typically collect extra fees that they do not pass along to there walkers. read more

Pet Care Plus is great. I use their boarding and grooming services. My dog has always been very well cared for during her stays. She's a medium sized lab mix and they did a good job determining she'd be a better fit with the "small dog" group than the "big dog" group during the daytime/daycare hours. I love that there are close-captioned cameras that I can watch to check-in on my pupper while I'm on a work trip or vacation. It makes me feel a lot better to see how well the staff regularly look after and clean-up after the dogs during daycare hours. The people that work at this location are beyond incredible. Not only are they diligent and efficient in the professional work that they provide, but they also have what many dog places lack, which is the passion behind the work. From the transport to the grooming and care-taking, this facility goes above and beyond the details. My dog is 13-years old, and has never wagged her tail when she has to leave for grooming or anywhere, so the fact that she is happy makes me happy and feel secure. As soon as she's finished, they are great in bringing her back to the house asap, so she does not have to wait miserable in a cage. I left my dog here for a few days. The staff wasn't friendly which in hindsight I should of taken as a red flag. When I picked up my dog, she was sad and afraid it was out of character for her, she's usually very happy and friendly to everyone. She had fleas and some dried old blood on her fur. I couldn't find a cut anywhere I think the blood belonged to another dog... The manager didn't care about anything she even said that my dog was alive and well so why should I be worried? My dog did not like this place. I will not bring her back. read more

The staff and facilities at Pet Care Plus are outstanding. We've been taking our dog here since he was a puppy and he is so excited when we pull up outside. He strains his leash trying to get in the door! All of the staff know his name and are so great with him. I check on him during the day on the Webcam and love watching him play with his buddies - especially in the pool. Too cute! I've referred friends who have become regular customers as well. ................... I just want to make sure people are looking at the date on this review... this was back in 2007, perhaps things have changed here and I hope they have........................... I don't like giving bad reviews. With that said, Pet Care Plus is awful. I am so disappointed and feeling guilty for even sending my dog, a 7 month old Labradoolde, there for a weekend. When I arrived there was no one who even knew how to accept payment. The office was filthy, I got pizza sauce all over my hand just from setting down a bag on a table. There was no organization at all in the front office they invite pet-parents to enter to take care of payment, complete forms, etc. After waiting for two girls to figure out how to accept payment they were ready to just walk off with my dog. I had to stop them and ask to take a tour of the place. I followed a young girl back to a room full of rusted metal kennels and she proceeded to shove my dog in one. I got upset at this point, but the girl was nice and calmed me down and said that it's fine, the dogs are seldom in the kennels and that the dogs really have no concept of whether they're sleeping in a metal crate or on the floor, etc. She's right, I get that, regardless if I spoil my dog at home, I knew she was right. I heard raves about the great outdoor, activity program from the staff and another person who sent their dog there, but I was unable to see that. It was dark. I was also told over the phone when I originally contact them that they had a webcam online and I could view my dog while we were away. First morning, my husband and I try to log on to see our pup, and nothing, no link. We call and they tell us they're having problems and it's unavailable at the moment. Well it was unavailable the next day and the next. Bright and early Tuesday morning I head over to pick up my dog. They staff has no proof of payment, I paid $130 when I dropped him off. After adding quality time play and a bone package I had to pay 70 additional dollars. Turns out I was charged for a bath I didn't request, at that time, I thought perhaps my husband added it on, he did not. Finally I get my dog and get him home! Upon returning home I find that his elbow is severly scabbed and calloused (which if I'm not mistaken that only happens if stuck in a crate, concrete for long periods of time!) he has bite marks on three of his legs and an inch long gash on his side!! He was there for only 3 full days! I'm so disappointed. Bottom line, dogs DON'T care where they sleep, that is probably true...but what about putting on a good show for us pet-parents? Cleaning up the office, organzing the kennel area, disposing of or repairing rusty kennels. I would have gone back and removed my dog, but another person and my husband assured me he'd be fine...but I'm NEVER going to go back or refer a single person to Pet Care Plus they really need to get their crap together! read more

Do NOT take your dog here! We stopped taking our dog Wrigley to Pet Care Plus after a series of dog bites over a four month period racking up a vet bill over $800. They either allow too many dogs at daycare or are understaffed which results in neglect and carelessness. They were unaware of the last two bites; they weren't discovered until he got home from daycare. It's a shame that this has happened because Wrigley really enjoyed the pool and seemed to enjoy going. We will be finding a new place to take him due to these unfortunate issues. read more

Pet Care Plus saved our dog's life. We boarded Tank there over the Thanksgiving holiday. On Thanksgiving night, a member of the staff, Victoria, noticed that Tank wasn't acting like himself so she called the vet right away. We were out of town and she couldn't get ahold of us so her and the owner made the decision to bring him in. Thank God they did or else Tank wouldn't be here with us right now! He had bloat, which in most cases leads to death since the symptoms are so hard to detect. He underwent surgery and is as happy and healthy as can be now, thanks to the attentive staff! Both of our dogs have behavioral issues and do not normally do well in social situations. They would shake and try to jump back in the car when we tried to bring them anywhere else but at Pet Care Plus they can't get in the door fast enough. We would recommend Pet Care Plus to anyone with dogs! read more

We love everyone at Pet Care Plus. Our first doggie daycare experience elsewhere in Chicago was terrible, so my frenchie was terrified to go into a new daycare. They got on the floor to let him sniff them and feel comfortable the first time we came in, since then he's been thrilled to jump out of the car and run straight inside. It's also nice to know there are cameras in each room so you can watch your pooch and they'll answer any question you have. Plus, if your dog likes to swim they have the BEST doggie pool for them to doggie paddle and chase tennis balls in. We love them there, can't say enough great things about this place! read more

I'm doing a pre-mature review because our dog has only been here twice...so I will re-review after we have more visits under our belt, but I did want to give my first impressions... We just moved here and we've been sorting through the huge number of doggie daycares in Chicago. It's a difficult thing to choose because your dogs personality really needs to gel with that of the staff that works at the daycare. Coming from more of a suburban atmosphere, we've been trying to find places that are larger with wide bigger spaces. Anyway, we had a few trials that just didn't work out and then we found petcare plus. First of all, the facilities are awesome. Lots of space inside for the dogs, outdoor space, and the pool is going to be amazing come spring/summer time. It's in the west loop and we are not, but we have flexible schedules so we don't have to drop off/pick up during heavy commuting hours. (They also have a pet taxi for additional fee). The facilities are amazingly clean. Every dog daycare that we've taken our dog to, they come home smelling like the kennel/daycare. It's kind of inevitable and not something that we necessiarliy mind...but we noticed that when he came home from daycare he actually didn't smell at all! This is awesome! And a true testiment to how clean I think they keep the place. The pick up staff was different from the drop off staff, and when we arrived on our dogs first day, everyone already knew who he was. We had not only one person giving us feedback and tid bits from our dogs day but two or maybe even three people if I'm remembering correctly. I felt like these people really truely cared about our dog and made him an individual, not just a number :-) Last first impression benefits...they have webcams which are awesome (and I can see how much they clean!!). Our dog came home so completely exhausted after his fun day and when we brought him back the next day he did his usual GET ME TO DAYCARE RIGHT NOW excitement. (Another sign that he LOVEs it there.) Ohh the other thing I was going to mention too is that they have a super extensive questionaire, about 10 pages worth that you have to fill out for the first day temperment assessment. I was really glad to see such detail in the questionaire because it gave us an opportunity to really highlight our dogs personality, likes and dis-likes so we didn't feel that we had to explain everything to them. I'm glad they are screening applicants so thoroughly. Sorry for such a lengthy review! This place is great! I started boarding my 120 lb Great Pyr (Sebastian) a few months ago when his previous boarding facility closed. Sebastian can be a problem child. He's sweet as pie, but has a bad case of separation anxiety, which makes me a bit of a nervous wreck when it comes to boarding. However, each time I board Sebastian I am impressed with the level of care he receives, as well as the staff's responsiveness to my calls and emails. Most recently, my boyfriend surprised me with a last minute trip for Valentine's Day. The night before our flight, dear Sebastian managed to rip off his toenail and bleed for more than six hours. We showed up at PCP the day of our flight after an early morning dash to our vet with a bag of medicine and a bandaged dog sporting a big plastic cone. I was ready to cancel our trip...until PCP assured me that they had it under control. Not only did they take AMAZING care of him, they even took him to the vet for me to have his bandaged checked out/changed! Fantastic service, fantastic people. read more

My dog boarded at Pet Care Plus for 4.5 days and when we picked her up on Sunday, 4/26/15, she was lethargic and coughing. After taking her to the vet the next day, she was diagnosed with canine flu, bronchitis and pneumonia. Called and spoke to someone from the facility to let them know how sick she is and the response was "she could have gotten it from a dog outside" Really? Seriously? That's your response? Our dog doesn't socialize with any dogs and is only outside in an enclosed backyard, The lack of care, concern or compassion was completely unexpected and unprofessional. You would expect more since this is a growing issue among dogs, especially in the City of Chicago. We will NEVER send her to this facility again and will not recommend it to any fellow dog owners we know. Clean it up! Several misses in the grooming of my pup. Had to take him to another groomer. Don't waste your time or money here. The least they could've done was refund me after I called and gave feedback. Instead, one of the managers just got defensive. If you want to run a business properly, you need to be open to feedback from your customers. Because of your inability to receive feedback and just refund me for the poor service that was provided, you've now lost someone who was previously a loyal customer and you've lost potential clients from anyone who reads this review. Negative experiences also spread really fast through word of mouth and negatively impact businesses. Poor grooming and poor management. Zero stars. read more

I have been taking my 13 year old German Short Haired Pointer to Pet Care Plus for the last three years. The staff is wonderful. They take the time to hand feed him when he won't eat on his own, its like they love him almost as much as I do. Because of Pet Care Plus, my dog is much more sociable with other dogs. This place is a class act. I could totally tell that my dogs had a wonderful time at the facility while I was gone for a week. They were happy to see me when I picked them up of course, but they certainly didn't act as if they had a bad time at PCP. And, they were actually more playful together when we finally got home. I was nervous about boarding Stella when my husband and I were going out of town but I heard about Pet Care Plus from a fellow Weim mommy and thought I would check them out. We first took a tour of the facility with her and everyone was very friendly, patient, and helpful. Of course I had a lot of questions about everything; rest time before and after eating, playing with other dogs, etc. and they happily answered them all. After the tour I thought I would try daycare first before boarding her overnight so I made a reservation and filled out their online application with proof of shots. It was all very simple but thorough. They also have a several page questionnaire to learn about your dog and their personality which I think is great. When I went to drop her off everyone was nice and I actually could watch on the cameras as they took her out to the play yard and slowly introduced one dog at a time to her and see how she reacted and her behavior. This was very comforting. I also could watch on the cameras throughout the day to see what she was up to. She was playing and having a great time. After the positive experience we made our boarding reservation. Before dropping her off for boarding I got a little nervous and so I called and talked with Jennifer. She was so sweet and comforting that I felt much better. When we were in Texas I checked in on Stella everyday and was able to see her playing with the other dogs and having a good time. I could also see that when she walked over to the employees they would lovingly pet her which made her smile so big. They all seem to really love their jobs which is the type of people you want taking care of your furry baby. I picked her up and she looked even more beautiful than when I dropped her off because they had given her a bath and trimmed her nails. All in all I am very happy with the whole experience and have already made a reservation for next month when we have to go back to Texas! read more

Worst pet care company I have ever come across. They find reasons to charge you for everything, increase their prices without informing you and then direct you to their UPDATED website saying "see the price is listed here". Why would I check your website for the price when no one told me it had changed. They've also mixed up my invoices and it took 4 un-returned phone calls, multiple emails, and three very frustrating days to finally get it straightened out. Last, they try to up-sell you on everything. The only thing this company cares about is money. Not your pet, not their customers. I have an incredibly energetic but also incredibly antisocial Pitbull mix. She is super loving with people but stresses out and can't be with other dogs. The staff at Pet Care Plus do an amazing job of making sure my dog gets plenty of exercise while also keeping her away from other dogs. We leave our dog there every time we go on vacation and on many hectic holidays and I never worry. Our dog also has to take medicine daily and the staff there are always happy to help us make sure she never misses a pill. Overall we are super happy with the friendly service and great care they give our dog. It can be stressful to have to leave our dog behind, but I can sleep better on vacation knowing she is getting personalized care at Pet Care Plus. read more

I've been taking Gizmo to PCP for about 3 years now. Gizmo has had so many issues including Spinal Disc surgery which was so sad. Jennifer the owner personally wrote me and said they would look out for him since I work in the morning and he's by himself for 8 hours. Which worked out, he just laid there while watching all the dogs, but he wasn't alone. It took so much anxiety off of me that PCP really loves him and he gets SPOILED. I love PCP and I honestly wouldn't know what to do if they were not around!!! The staff is my all time favorite. They make PCP really run smoothly. I love the Web cam, the pictures they post up. We love Pet Care Plus. We've been to several other day care places, and had mixed results. But we've never had a bad experience at PCP over the last 3 years we've been taking our Weim there. The staff is great. They're always friendly and more than accommodating. They post pictures of the dogs playing most every day on Facebook. When you pick up your dog, they even wipe them down for you if you want. PCP has a lot of extra services too if you need them. We typically only use the pool in the summer (yes, they have a pool), but we have boarded her there when needed. Again, we've had only great experiences. I would guess that if there is anything in particular that you are looking for, they probably have it here. If you are looking for a great place to take your dog with an awesome staff and lots of extras available, I'd definitely recommend Pet Care Plus. read more

I love PCP. My 1 year old has gone in several weeks now 2x a week and it is clear he is settling in and beginning to form friendships. The PC team is great about placing "like" dogs together and they interact and make sure everyone is minding their manners the entire time they are playing. Based on their analysis they rejected her, and were kind enough to charge us 15 dollars for the whole experience. I'm sure it's a wonderful facility. I've been taking my dog here for close to two months now. He seems exceedingly happy every morning when I ask if he wants to go to daycare. He is exhausted at night (good for him, great for me). He's never come back with bites or scratches (and even if he did, he's a dog, spending his day with other dogs.) I mean, this place has a POOL for DOGS. Simply put, my dog's gym is better than my own. Does this make me a crazy person? Probably. Does it leave my dog happy. Yes. I think that's all that matters. read more

My Wife and I recently dropped off our little 8 month old pup while we were away for five days. He really seemed to have a blast and everyone at PCP was super friendly. They even got him swimming which in my few trips to the shores of lake michigan he has been somewhat hesitant to do! The daily emails and updates on FB were fun to check while we were traveling, and made us comfortable while we were away. We loved PCP so much we are looking into weekly daycare sessions just so he can go back and visit. We've had a fantastic experience with Pet Care Plus. We've been taking Teddy-the-dog for daycare, grooming and occasional boarding since we moved to Chicago last summer. He loves it. And Teddy is discerning... Features that are especially great about PCP are that the dogs are outside all day when the weather is nice, it's clean, the staff is friendly, it's easy to make a reservation for daycare/grooming/boarding either online or by phone. Usually Teddy goes to daycare when I'm slammed at work or traveling, so it is lovely to pick him up and have him so tired that he's snoozing before we turn off Lake Street. Also, we liked that the first day we brought him was a trial day. They charged us a lower amount than the regular daycare rate and tested how he interacted with other dogs before he was "approved" into the pack. Teddy happens to be very social and likes to play, but he's also not very timid and has been bitten when walking or at the park before. I really like that PCP does the "try out" to make sure that there aren't aggressive dogs, and it makes us feel much more confident that there is a good friendly group of dogs there. When we boarded him at the last minute because of a change of travel plans for the weekend, the staff was more than accommodating, and Teddy was happy and tired when we picked him up. I know it might sound a little crazy that you can tell if a dog has been taken care of and had a good time, but, we can tell. We've had bad experiences elsewhere and have nothing but good things to say about PCP. read more

My 2 year old Maltese LOVES Pet Care Plus!! He goes for grooming, day care and boarding. Every time we pull up to the curb, he is already beyond excited. He is greeted at the door every time by Becky or Jennifer and they always give him a lot of TLC. He enjoys playing with all of the dogs and gets so much exercise. When he comes home, he is always wiped out! Jennifer and her staff are extremely professional and loving. I especially enjoy the swimming in the summer and the grooming. My dog always has the cutest cuts - people always stop us and ask where I take him. I highly recommend PCP to dogs of all sizes. So grateful to have found this place!!! read more

I discovered Pet Care Plus via Groupon. I was psyched to get such a great deal on 5 days of boarding. But, since it was my first time boarding my two year old dog and our first time at PCP, I was of course nervous. The staff at Pet Care Plus is great. All my questions were answered during a couple phone calls prior to dropping my dog off, and the very nice woman who checked him in listened carefully to my instructions regarding his food/meds/allergies and input his information right into the computer. I received email updates (with photos!) letting me know how my dog was doing and I checked Facebook each day of our trip to see the daily collection of photos and spot my dog partying with his new friends. I just picked him up today and I am thrilled with the service and the staff's obvious love of dogs. I watched the staff member take my dog out of his kennel to gather his things to go and Gus came wagging out, jumping all over her trying to sneak kisses. Clearly, my dog was very much at home and was very comfortable with the staff. I am beyond happy to be reunited with my buddy, but I know that the next time I travel out of town and can't bring him with me, I will absolutely take him back to PCP. read more

The employees at Pet Care Plus truly love what they do and will treat your pet as if they were their own. As new puppy parents, we were hesitant to leave our fur child at day care, but seeing how happy Charley is the minute we walk in the door, we know we made the right choice with Pet Care Plus. We also recently boarded Charley overnight and the staff took extra care to be sure we felt comfortable and confident in leaving her, one staff member even come in early to give our pup a bath before she returned home. Pet Care Plus has been a win win for this work from home dog mom. I get a break from our very energetic goldendoodle once a week, and Charley gets to play with all her new friends and run around to her hearts content at PCP. Best doggy Daycare! Dozer loves going to Pet care Plus! When I tell him he is going to daycare in the morning he gets really excited! When we get there, he wants to go back before the handler even comes to get him. I'm so happy that I get to leave my fur baby with people that he loves and he gets to make new buddies every time we go! We also love the grooming services! I have a 4.5 month old Shih Tzu and have used Pet Care Plus for daycare. Pros: - webcam - LOVE IT!! - small dog and big dog play groups - online reservations - competitive pricing Cons: - don't have extended hours (i.e. pick up after 6 p.m.) My dog is in great hands when he's at Pet Care Plus and I'm able to check in during the day to see how he's interacting with other dogs. I also love love love the fact they have separate play groups based on dog size. With my dog being small, he's low to the ground and soaks up all of the dog pee in other play groups. It's gross and added work when we get home bathing him. It's great that he can be there during the day and come home exhausted from a full day of play! Worst pet care company I have ever come across. They find reasons to charge you for everything, increase their prices without informing you and then direct you to their UPDATED website saying "see the price is listed here". Why would I check your website for the price when no one told me it had changed. It took 8 un-returned phone calls, and five very frustrating days to finally get it straightened out. Arguing with the very rude and ignorant Operations Manager, Amanda was incredibly aggravating as she is very combative and rude. She would not listen to anything I had to say and simply just argued with me. She insisted on making it known she knew everything about dogs but could not provide me an educational background on how she knew everything about dogs. The only thing this company cares about is money. Not your pet, not their customers. I highly suggest you find somewhere else if you're looking for a long term pet care facility. This company needs to focus on hiring nice and considerate employees, I would think that having an operations manager that is rude and inconsiderate is not a good look for this company. read more
