Today was my first time going to pet food express and I can honestly say I was impressed. EVERYONE was so kind and helpful. I brought my two dogs for a pet wash and I was able to wash them with just one token. Afterwards the employees provided me with treats and told me about some new cool products they had in stock. I ended up letting my pups pick a treat and they devoured it. I would recommend for pet food, treats, CBD, probiotics and even dog washes. I will be coming back to this location! read more

Ok so this place has 5 stars for a reason. The selection is amazing, the quality is top itch and this is a place where you can go and have a real discussion about your pets needs. I initially asked the clerk Ro about a brand of dog food for my picky GSD/Malamute mix. She was very patient and detailed the pros and cons of different foods and what had the best track record. I remembered another question I had. Then another. Then another. And the. A-freaking-nother. This lady patiently and kindly helped us for what seemed like a solid 20 minutes and I walked out feeling confident and excited over what has been a stressful situation with my pup. This is the spot to go. These people are actually educated on pet care and are genuinely happy to help. Came back in for another pet wash and was just as happy with the service as I was last time. We were greeted by a new (to us) but super friendly employee and escorted to the back. Our wash began and this time around I noticed hooks next to each station where you can hang your pup's leash or your bag but quickly found out that they are front and center for the splash zone!! A locker or even cubbies would be better but still appreciate the effort. Our fav employee, Jenny, also heard our singing pup from the other side of the store and stopped by to say hi. I love Pet Food Express. I've been visiting the Pasadena location for a couple of years and been to a few other locations around Los Angeles. I always walk out with a few bags of snacks my dog doesn't really need. I'm so glad that a PFE opened up less than 10 minutes away, now my dog will be even more extremely well fed and squeaky clean. The staff here is super sweet and knowledgeable. This location is smaller than the other ones I've visited but it has all the essentials minus the cute adoptable cats. A GREAT pet store! Our personal hero is KAT!!! (We love you Kat :D) Our fur baby, Bosco, had severe hair loss from allergies. After a trip to the vet, who recommended trying exotic protein food, we went straight to PFE. Kat not only found us the perfect food, she also pinpointed out to us a supplement (Solid Gold SeaMeal) that would aid in hair recovery. After a couple of weeks, Bosco's fur was shinier and healthier than ever! Kat remembers Bosco, and Bosco always wags his tail for her! This place has literally changed my dog's life. My pooch has a super weak immune system therefore he has many problems. On top of that he is over weight and has developed joint pain. He is only 3yo. It's been about six months and I have not gone anywhere else to get food or the medication that my dog needs. The staff are amazing and they answer any questions you might have about your pet. I came in because for an inexpensive collar as I forgot to put my pups collar back on after her bath. I was going to run in and out. This is, by far, the most friendly and helpful staff I have ever encountered in any pet store. And they are knowledgeable as well. They have a nice variety of products, including specialty and high end foods. The store is also very orderly and clean. Unfortunately, some of the canned food cannot be purchased in larger sizes, which some brands do carry. However, they do offer a program on many items that saves some money - buy 3 get 1 free. If you do not intend to buy 3, it might be cheaper to purchase products at another pet store. I have found the base price of canned food, for instance, is more expensive here than at Centinela, Petco, and some independent stores. I ALWAYS have the most pleasant experiences whenever i go into this place. Every employee here is the best. I dont know how they managed to hire such an amazing and consistant staff. The store is very clean and organized as well, another huge plus! I do like that this location is smaller because its super easy to shop! I came here initally to use the self service dog wash, and i love using it despite my dogs not caring for water much. They have pretty great deals too, so its worth it if you plan to buy 3 or more cans of dog food. PFE carries CBD pet products which is heavenly! Treats, drops, and creams! My elder dogs are very thankful. The cherry on top is right outside is a petite fenced doggie play area. My dogs love sniffing and running around. They provide some poop bags in case of an accident. I usually have a good experience shopping here but yesterday I was incredulous at the lack of customer service. There were 4 employees at the register, one was ringing up a sale, one was just standing there, and the other two were talking (one was the manager) and they all ignored me when I approached the counter. I said hi to the cashier and she didn't respond, just started ringing up my items and asked if I wanted a bag. I said "no thank you, I have one" and placed it on the counter. While I was swiping my credit card and going through that process and the cashier was waiting she didn't even make a move to put my 4 little boxes of dog food in my bag. She then handed me my receipt , said thank you and then picked up her conversation with the manager. Still didn't put my items in the bag. It's unbelievable to me that neither her or the manager could bag my items!! I have to say, this place is as good as it gets. They have everything here. Different kinds of food, beds, toys, toothbrushes, brushes, cookies. Mostly this branch of Pet Food Express hired exceptional employees. My puppy wasn't eating anything since we adopted him, and I already spent tons of money buying different cans of wet food that he didn't like. They provided suggestions and even tried feeding my dog samples so that I don't have to keep buying and throwing unwanted food away. We finally found something he liked, and he's eating fine now! I just got a Sphynx cat earlier this week and noticed she was having tummy troubles as she was eating my older cats wet food any chance she got. WARNING: EXTREMELY ADDICTIVE. From the moment we stepped in to the third time we've taken our Bailey in (and they've only been open less than a week), we have loved EVERY PART of this store. From the warm welcome of the staff; to all the great selection of healthier options for Bailey, our PomTerrier; to the Pet Wash (which is free, by the way, for the month of June); to all the treats Bailey could have; to "the green" which we already used to socialize Bailey, which is complete with a secure fence, poopie bags, a mini dog house and benches; to the water fountain right outside for when the doggies get tired and need hydration-- we had the most amazing experience. The staff, especially Gina, on our first day in, did a wonderful job helping out little Bailey socialize. It was a bit difficult for us to train Bailey, being a 4 month old house dog who was never leash-trained and had a lot of anxiety towards people, and Gina was so knowledgeable that she was able to help us understand that Bailey is treat-motivated, and that we could use that to our advantage. She suggested a regular leash to us after seeing a retractable one, since Bailey should have just a 6-foot regular leash instead of the one we've been using. Plus, she didn't mind all of Bailey's anxious barking and growling, and played with him and gave him all the treats his little heart could want, in order to socialize him a bit with her. By the end of it all, they were best friends. We learned a few tricks in training him and got the best stuff for our Bailey Bear. We couldn't be happier-- and so we've come 3 days in a row just for fun. We definitely will be recommending this place to every pet lover we know ! read more

Took our puppy during their grand opening the free dog wash was great! 25 min is plenty of time to shampoo, condition and dry off our pup. We also really love their return policy. As our dog has grown we have returned cages, harnesses etc. They even let us return a collar we bought at the pasadena location without a receipt. They pack a ton of high-quality stuff for your four-legged family members!! I was impressed to see they carry ZiwiPeak too - our baby's favorite!! We also checked out the little dog park outside, and loved it! It's super clean, gets good shade on a hot summer day, and the store provides toys, fresh water and poop bags. They carry all sorts of supplies and food for pets. Roger who works there was extremely helpful in giving me additional recommendations on top of my regular dog food brand, and also threw in a bag of treats! The location is clean and spacious, and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Prices are a tad higher than your average chain pet store, but that's because they carry higher brand names.
