Called this store and Juan was fantastic in regard to helping me put together a turtle electric gravel cleaner that I bought on Amazon. Cost $20, worth every penny!!!! When I arrived to T.I., Joseph assisted me in one-stop shopping for my turtles, from answering my questions and explaining what I need for them, to helping me with what's practical for the red ear sliders, and even offering to help me carry everything to my vehicle. Juan helped with check out with impeccable customer service, and my experience at Tropical Imports was easy breezy and I really overall appreciated them. Highly recommend this store, from fish to reptiles, turtles and all your supplies needed for an amazing-looking aquarium. C'mon, they are aquarium specialists!!!!!! My aquarium is incredible, the red ear slider turtles are so so so happy!!!!!!! :)

This is a local store for me and I have always felt welcome. People should expect a more chill atmosphere. Juan is absolutely the best employee, he always takes time to explain what's best for the fish/shrimp I'm researching. Thanks to him I have two small tanks that are thriving. The best part is he is a knowledgeable employee and fish keepers will appreciate he will gently remind or tell you if your tank might not be the appropriate size for what you have in mind. Some employees especially at the big box stores might give you the wrong information (not always on purpose) but Juan double checks info online to make sure. Legit. I've seen him interact with lots of customers and he's always polite and professional. He is really sweet to elderly clients, it's so nice to see that. Lots of fish stores sell fish and don't sweat what conditions they may encounter in their new home, but Juan actually cares and is great. He does his best to make sure people don't wait too long if he's the only one in the store. I super appreciate his help.

Purchased 65 gallon terrarium & table holder @ TropicalImports! Ed, my bearded dragon, loves it!!!

It smells. The tanks are filthy. Parking isn't their fault but it's horrible at best.

Nice staff. Tanks look decently clean. Every time I buy fish from here, they survive close to a year or more.

Our kids ages 2 to 7 all had a great time! There was so much to do, from walking through the river and doing water play, to sand play in the pretend lake, to crafts (that we didn't have time for), to climbing equipment, and building/engineering/physics activities. Plenty of things to do both indoor and outdoor. The physics section is great for older kids too, even middle school (but the rest of the museum is definitely geared to elementary).

Outside, there are two adjacent outdoor kid's playgrounds. Near the entrance they have juice and fruit vendors and a balloonist. Entry fee is very reasonable at under $50 for family of three with in-and-out privileges. Inside the museum, its like 80% outdoor exhibits and 20% indoor. They have an onsite cafe and food vendors throughout. The outdoor exhibits has a park area dedicated to physics. You'll see fans, pulleys, etc. to help your child appreciate scientific concepts while having fun. They also have tie-dye stations, climbing structures, tricycle race tracks, live music, and my son's favorites - the sandbox and pretend farmer's market and veggie patch. I noted lots of friendly staff dressed as camp rangers working with the kids and maintaining order with a smile, which is huge. Inside the buildings, you'll see traditional kid activities like toy trains, quiet reading areas, legos, and even more climbing structures. Looking forward to coming back next time we're in the area. The in-and-out policy is nice since they have lots of nearby offsite restaurants in nearby Old Pasadena.

It was not too crowded, and there is a lot of parking on both the left and right side of the zoo, which made it easy. Before entering, there are many vendors selling food, hats, accessories, and children's toys. Children under 2 are free, ages 2 to 12 were $22, and adults were $27. I believe there is also a senior price, possibly around $24. We were able to go through the entire zoo in about 4 hours, and the kids spent some time at the playground, which was new to me since I had not been here in a few years. If you are going without children or with older kids, you could probably get through it faster. Some animals had been relocated to another zoo, and the elephants were not there, which was a bit of a bummer. We were told animals get put away about an hour before closing. I am not sure if that applies to all of them, since we still saw some animals out around closing time. We were able to bring in our own snacks and drinks, which was nice. They do have a few spots that sell food, drinks, ice cream, and other snacks, but they were a bit expensive for me. We did end up getting churros and shared them since they were really long and more than enough for my kids. Overall, it was a fun visit.

Definitely disappointed.

I've asked plenty of questions over time and have always received thoughtful, accurate advice. In fact, some of the best advice I've gotten there has been when they talked me OUT of buying something that wasn't right for my tank. Their fish are healthy, their tanks are clean, and the overall level of care is obvious the moment you walk through the door. As someone who pays close attention to fish health and aquarium maintenance, that's something I notice immediately. I drive past other stores to shop here because I trust the staff, trust the quality of their livestock, and know they care about the animals they're selling. The selection is incredible. Everything is clean, well maintained, and thoughtfully set up. You don't get that overwhelming, chaotic feeling that a lot of aquarium stores have. This place feels organized, calm, and honestly just really beautiful to walk through. What really sets them apart though is the customer service. They take their time with you, answer every question no matter how small, and you can tell they actually know what they're talking about. There is no pressure and no upselling, just genuinely helpful guidance, which is so rare these days. I also really appreciate how much they care about making sure you're set up for success, not just making a sale. They give honest advice and want your tank to thrive long after you leave the store. Whether you're brand new to aquariums or have been doing this for years, this is hands down the place to go. You can feel the passion the second you walk in. Since then, the lights have taken over the whole zoo, allowing a unique experience of walking through the zoo among lights. It is nicely spread out and features different scenes related to animals, nature, and holiday fun! Each year the displays are a bit different, which can sometimes be sad to not see your favorite display from a prior year, but also adds new scenes that are memorable and fun. It's both a pro and a con sometimes. This year was all lights but in prior years they've also even had some animals (like reindeer) and fun crafting or snack stations. I always love the lantern displays and areas to walk through towards where the bird show is. That is always my favorite section since it tends to be the most immersive. All that to say, this is a great holiday light display, especially when I consider some other displays at other zoos. I think the LA Zoo seems to actually care about providing a pretty solid experience and it shows! I would definitely recommend for families (especially with kids), couples who want an a holiday date night, or friends who just want a night out and some holiday magic. So literally it's for anyone! It's a good experience and fun if you let it be! And if you're not having fun, take a few laps and work in those steps. You do you!
