There's a Petfood Express closer to my house and I still drive all the way to the Pleasant Hill store because it's such a great shopping experience from start to finish. Petfood Express and I have a history that I'll never forget. Back in 2000 I had a puppy who got ill and almost died due to a dog food recall from Canada that I bought from PFE. The vet bills were high and my puppy out of 11 is the only one that survived. PFE paid for my vet bills 100%. Since then I have had several pets and my loyalty goes to PFE. I've been shopping at PFE for 26 years now. I highly recommend PFE. They continue to offer healthy dog and cat food varieties. The owners have high standards and integrity. I love this store! It is cozy, clean, inviting and the staff is GREAT! Today was my giant, recently-adopted Golden Retriever's first bath. His name is Rooney. I wasn't sure how he would take to the idea of a big tub, a hose, etc. but the treats already stationed on the towels sold it. He did swell. Hannah, Gerry, and Julia made the visit even better. For my dog's birthday, I ordered some birthday treats and they wrapped them and included a handwritten card. I was shocked. My pup was so excited and it made her birthday so special. I love this pet store! I recently got a puppy and the staff and Pet Food Express in Pleasant Hill have been the most helpful. I've been frequenting this location for 3 weeks... always finding out I need XYZ for puppy. The staff is so friendly and approachable- ready to give the best advice. They had made getting a new puppy much less stressful- great support system! They have an amazing exchange/return policy. If whatever did not work out for your pet, they'll usually take it no questions asked. It's been a lifesaver for me and my new puppy! I've only gone for purchasing food/other items but I believe they have a grooming station, training classes, and a vet every Saturday. 5 star experience so far from the past few experiences here. My first experience started with Trinity! We are new parents to a 12 week Aussiedoodle and prior to his arrival i needed some advice on what foods to start him off with that was similar to what his breeder was giving him but better quality. She was so helpful and it was a very positive experience. We have been here three times since we've had him for various needs, mostly food/treats. Very happy with the level of professionalism, knowledge, enthusiasm, and how welcoming/friendly the staff has been. Makes us comfortable to shop here for our little guy. Gosh I love this place so much! We have been struggling to find my cat a food she will actually finish eating (very picky) and a worker recommended Fromm dry food, and now she won't stop eating it! I want to send thanks to him, but I am completely blanking on his name. He also recommended a hairball topper for our cat as well. Today, my sister decided to order treats and food for my cat, and Adam actually gave us a tip on a cats cycle, that I actually didn't know! It is super helpful tip that I am excited to try! Pet food express is one of the best pet stores in the area because they don't sell animals. Petco and Petsmart sell small animals and they are not taken care of well (look for yourself). I can't even go into those store anymore because of this - it's too depressing to me. And a lot of these animals end up as food, not pets. This store is a place you go to get food or items for your pet. They also partner with local cat and dog rescues in the area and occasionally have adoption fairs outside their stores with these rescues. They partner with Umbrella of Hope, a wonderful dog rescue out of Pittsburg that we adopted a dog from here a while back (support these rescues, like Umbrella of Hope, they're amazing). I like Pet Food Express and go here when I have a chance if I need something for the pets (we have a few, lol) that we didn't get online. read more

I walk in just to look and always walk out with an armload of stuff and a smile on my face. They know background information on the companies and products they sell and provide valuable information. Petfood express surprisingly has great deals even when compared to online retailers. I needed some items for one of my dogs that was having stomach issues. EXCELLENT product knowledge, customer service and very helpful! Wish I got the girls name but she was a cute petite one that greeted me immediately once I got in and asked if I needed any help. Only visiting from Hawaii and staying with my brother and his family but their dog (Fluffy) seems to have some kind of allergies and wanted to help relieve some of that stress. I love this place all the way from the look of the store to the employees. Whenever we asked questions, they were able to answer them and direct me where to find different items. I don't think you come across employees/pet stores everyday where they come up to you and ask if you need some help. All of their food is healthy for your pet and I believe most, if not all, of their foods don't contain fillers (bad stuff for your pet). They do get you with their everyday deal of buy 3 get 1 free :) I also took my pet here for their VIP pet care services and the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable.
