I try not to write negative reviews about businesses since my parents owned their own business for almost 50 years, and I understand that things can happen that normally do not happen, and I do not want people to stop taking their dogs to this business because of my review. I am only writing this review in hopes that Pet Pals Place will see it and take action so what happened today does not ever happen again. When I went to pick them up today after their first grooming appointment, I was getting ready to pay at the front desk when an employee let them out into the waiting room without their leashes on. As the employee went to look for their leashes another customer opened the front door to come inside, and my dogs who were panicked since this was their first time there immediately ran outside and were running around in the parking lot around other customer's cars. I was so worried they were going to get hit by one of those cars, or on Fairfield Road. It was so scary, and my dogs were terrified! My dogs have been groomed so many times over the years, and they have never been just let out into a waiting room without leashes on or they have been kept behind a dog gate until a leash can be put on. This is totally unacceptable and unsafe!! Also, not sure if the person or people grooming them are new to grooming, but my dogs have never had grooms this bad. Their bodies and tails look ok, but their ears and tops of their heads look horrible. If you are going to cut ears and tops of their heads short, please ask the customers before doing that. read more

My 3 dogs have been going here for a few years now. We have done grooming and boarding. They are fair priced and do a good job. So good, that I was hiking with my Goldendoodle and a lady stopped me to ask where I got her hair cut because every place she has taken hers she hated. Every time I board them, they happily jump out of the car to go inside. The gentleman that works evenings, weekends, and holidays is fantastic! We will be on the road and about 30 mins past their closing and he will stay so we can get our dogs. Only change I wish is that the dogs had more of a scent to them after a groom. Fantastic place and when all 3 of my dogs (one is afraid of her own shadow) are excited to arrive, that says something! read more

I took my dog into pet pals place to get a bath, they called me about two hours later to pick him up , when we got there they hadn't bathed him! They brushed him and sprayed him with purfume!!! He wasnt clean, he was still flimy and oily! read more

We have three dogs that are all very different personalities and this month was the first time in 8 years we have used a boarding service. I was SO nervous but these guys did so great to text me pictures/videos and reassure me the whole time! The owners even came straight from church to let us get our dogs early on a Sunday . They can be rowdy dogs so I was nervous how they would get along with the other dogs but they always come back in great shape. We appreciate these guys so much and highly recommend!! Left my Lab there for a week and a half. He was healthy when I dropped him off. When I picked him up he couldn't walk and I needed to carry him out. Took him to the animal hospital then next day, the Dr said he was dehydrated and had fluid in his stomach. this morning he passed away. I didn't get a phone call from Pet Pals while I was gone letting me know his condition. If I had known we could have gotten him to the hospital sooner and he could have survived. Pure negligence by Pet Pals Place. Don't ever take your senior pets there if you want them to survive. read more

My boyfriend and I have taken our dogs here a few times in the last year or so. The first time we took our dogs in, they seemed to have done a decent job for a decent price. Recently, however, they must have had a change of staff and or management because yesterday we picked our dogs up after paying 100 dollars and they looked HORRIBLE. Our husky didn't even seem to have been trimmed on her body, only around her face and paw area. The back of her legs and tail area looked as if they weren't even touched. Our other dog, tends to get matted very easily and the staff has been aware of this and usually just shaves her completely, which I'm fine with. This time, though, they only shaved the top of her body, and claimed that she was aggressive, and they couldn't continue with the groom. There's no way that she had become THAT aggressive in a matter of 4 months from the last time she was there and they were able to finish her. Also, they claim to be a dog boarding place, and they can't even handle a dog who shows a bit of aggression while getting mats shaved out of their fur. Don't goto this place and waste your money. I could've done and have done a better job with my cheap trimmers in my backyard for free. read more

We love this place! It looks a little rough from the outside but we have had only FANTASTIC experiences here. Andy (owner/manager I think?) is great with the dogs, and the receptionist Claudine is always so helpful. Our dog was a rescue, and he can be very hit or miss with other dogs and they are so good to accommodate him. He has never gotten along with dogs anywhere as well as he does at PPP. The staff seem happy and excited to see him, and he is so happy there! He stays with them when we leave out of town, as well as the occasional day care to help with socializing and he LOVES it. My wife and I take our dogs Bo and Patches when we leave for several days out of town and I'm always confident that our dogs are well taken care of and fed. They don't care if I called to check on them just to see how they're doing and they always give me positive results and at times if I ask him to send me a photo of them they do. I would recommend this place over other dog shelters because I know the owner and the Son, they're very knowledgeable and very caring for all the animals they take care of. We took our dog there for six days while we were on vacation and we were very pleased with their service. Now every time we pass by he get excited and wants to go back to play with his friends. He loved it there. read more

BEWARE- My mother's dog was killed here. She was left unattended on a Sunday (as others have stated the dogs are left unattended for most of Sunday). Her dog Marley, was mauled to death by two pit bulls. My mother has been working with the Humane Society and with Animal Control. When there is a public report, I will post it here. Since the kennel workers informed my mother of the incident, they clearly can not deny this. This is a dangerous place. It should be closed. read more

We took our miniature poodle here and the lady who groomed him seemed a little spacey. We showed her pictures of how me wanted him groomed and specifically asked not to cut ears...she cut them completely short...exact opposite of what we asked. And we asked her to pluck the hair inside of his ears (as our vet recommended) and she did not do that either. Mediocre job done. I won't be bringing my dog back. read more

This place was HORRIBLE!!!!! We dropped off our pit bull puppy and our pug off for 4 days and when I went to pick them up my pug was in a corner frightened to death. I was told to come back later and get her. When I brought them home she had horrible diarrhea and throwing up blood. My pit wouldn't eat any of his dog food for days. I'm not sure what they were feeding them. If it were up to me I would give them no stars. read more

I just called today to see If they were taking new clients for grooming. The receptionist had said yes. I asked if they were familiar with the breed of dog we had and she had mentioned no. I started to explain to her and she popped off and said " this is over my head and I know nothing about these things and you are going to have to talk to the groomer". I asked if the groomer was available to speak to or do I just need to call another groomer? She said just go call someone else! Wow! I haven't even brought my pet in....Thank goodness! From reading all the reviews after my phone call experience this is not a place I would ever take my pet! read more

I have been taking my dog here after a terrible experience at the Animal Park in Ogden. They are extremely nice to me AND my dog, up front in the charges, and charge less than other places I checked into. read more

After spending two days here our dog came home completely different. She seemed depressed and wouldn't interact with the family. She was filthy, had a sore on her face, and ate and drank water like she hadn't had any in days. We won't take our animals there ever again. read more

We took our 2 small dogs for boarding to PPP in August. From Friday the 22 to Sunday the 24. They seem happy when we picked them up on Sunday but I suspect they were left unattended without water on Sunday. They were so thirsty when we got them home I could not believe my eyes. Whatever you do, do not leave your small dogs there on a Sunday. read more

neglect !!! by kj williams - 01/28/2013 do not use these horrible insensitive people.!!!! i returned after two nights of boarding her noticed that she was not moving or acting like herself. i found bite marks on her left ear. nothing was done for her while i was gone and nothing was said to me about any injury or event. post script. just returned from a day at the veterinarians clinic. my dog required surgery for her wounds. they were worse then i had first thought. evident of neglect and denial of knowledge of injuries that had to have bleed profusely but attempted to cover them up. share review read more

We will unfortunately never be returning to this facility again. My boyfriend took our 3 month old puppy in for her first grooming, and was very specific on not wanting her to be shaved or have any skin showing. He requested for her to still be "fluffy" and showed the groomer pictures of how we wanted her. When he picked her up (3 hours later), she was SHAVED and the cut was extremely uneven and nothing close to what he requested. Granted, they let him know she had mattes that they couldn't untangle AFTER picking her up, but it would've been a nice courtosy of them to call us and ASK us if they could cut her shorter than we requested. She wasn't even bathed and her nails weren't trimmed (like they told me they would do over the phone). I understand puppies are hard and mine may not have been on her best behavior, but that's why we trusted to hand her over to a professional to take care of her. I'm very disappointed and I hope my review helps their facility to improve. read more
