First of all, we bought a dog here when I was 15 years old, a white mini schnauzer. She had parvo and almost died. They offered to replace her. Like she was an item. Pets are family. They aren't replaceable. So we looked up the breeder on the papers. She was from "Happy Dawg Hollow" in Liberty, MO. It had so many citations for buckets of feces, drinking water full of algae, dogs with untreated, festering wounds! Dead dogs lying around! These are their "USDA" certified breeders. Even worse - they say on their Yelp page that they do adoptions. What?!?! This is SELLING, not adopting. I am LIVID, this must end. They will do nothing but lie to you. read more

10 times better than I expected. 2 of my friends purchased their dogs from here and recommended this place. As soon as I walked in, it did not smell dirty or of urine and/or feces like some places...it was very pleasant. The puppies are in reasonable sized open cages, where you can pick them up and interact with them. They keep dogs with their appropriate sizes, so there's no large dogs stepping on small dogs, etc. The ladies that worked there seemed fairly knowledgeable. All of the puppies come from breeders and if you have any questions they can't answer they will call the breeder for you while you are there. Last December of 2010 I purchased a 10 week old, very handsome mini-schnauzer for about $600. He is the love of my life and I have had zero problems with him, other than the fact I love him too much. They come micro-chipped ( I verified with my vet that mine did have one) and with a full 100% health guarantee. You can tell that they get a lot of care and love 24/7. The staff was knowledgable and helpful. You could tell that they loved every single animal sincerely. This is a disgusting cruel establishment. This is definitely supporting puppy mills. There were over 10 full grown Syrian hamsters in on 20 gallon tank with no food or wheels. The place smells like urine and feces and is dirty and dusty. The puppies are sitting in wire bottom cages which hurt their feet and the wires are covered in poop and pee. The dogs look sick. The worst staff in history! No greeting upon entry, one word answers to questions about their "puppy sale" regarding breeds, age, then would just walk away. My kids and I were looking for a French bulldog, $3500 purchase! My daughter is 10- is absolutely in love with puppies and picked up a puppy or two- we were told we had to leave because she picked them up for a third time. Granted- my daughter should listen. However, if they had any sense they would've asked her which ones she would be interested in petting, or holding- then inquire with the adult about potential purchase. When I called to let them know that they need to get the other shih tzu's tested I was told by the manager that giardia is very common and not a big deal. I was totally surprised when I entered the store, one of the young men who works there came over to open the door for me since I am handicapped. I went in to buy food and instead bought an 8-week old Pekingese. I said I wo9uld never buy from a pet store, don't evet say never because you will be eating your words. Everyone was super polite, and I purchased my puppy on payment plans. I would recommend this store to anyone looking to purchase a puppy. We made a bit of an impulsive purchase on a golden retriever puppy. She was really calm when we played with her, and we asked the employee about her demeanor to which she responded, "we just got her, so the mellow is to be expected". After we got her home we realized something was not right. Their vet couldn't get us in for over a week, so we made the call to see another vet and found out she had a bladder and kidney infection. The manager and owner of Pet Ranch seemed really concerned and were willing to help. They did cover the initial expense of the tests and medication. They told us they would cover any future problems we had related to this issue. When I took her for her next round of shots the vet told me they couldn't do the shots without first drawing her blood and making sure her kidneys were healthy from the infection. My husband called Pet Ranch to try to get help for the blood draw from the owner (who won't apparently talk to customers) and she refused to help. Very disappointing that she didn't keep her word. Also, the vet told us there is no way our puppy is the age that pet ranch told us she was. She already has several adult teeth and is way bigger than is expected for her age. It's just all shady. Lastly, we were assured that they do not buy their puppies from puppy mills and they have reputable breeders. Well, that's a load of crap. One google search of the "breeder" listed on our receipt shows he is in the top 100 worst puppy mill breeders in the nation. I am so angry that we gave this place so much money. They do not care about the puppies, and they do not care about the people who buy them. I wish I could do more to get this place shut down, but I will do everything I can to influence people to not support this awful business. read more

Do not buy from this place! We were sold a sick puppy. At first the owner was willing to help out as our Vet not their vet discovered the Kidney and Bladder infection. We were told by the helper at the Pet Ranch that this puppy was just a mellow puppy. Nope She WAS SiCK and in pain. Were informed that if anything else was needed that they would help with. We went back to the vet and before any other shots or anything else could be administered we needed to do more tests. We called back to the Pet Ranch and was informed that, we have to follow policy and we are not able to do anything. We have also been told by our Vet that this dog is older than the info then we received. The owner will not talk with us or seems to care about what type of product and customer service she provides. I will start off by saying that I typically do not agree with pet stores selling puppies based on the mills that typically support them. I have seen the reviews here that say Pet Ranch supports puppy mills, but the gentleman I spoke to at great length today told me that all of their puppies come from reputable, trackable USDA certified breeders and are registered (although I did not ask what agency they're registered through). That being said, I have not purchased a dog from a pet store, but found myself at Pet Ranch because I was in the area running errands...I decided to take a peek, just to check it out. I had an absolutely wonderful experience at Pet Ranch today that completely contradicts the previous reviews. I can only speak for my interaction today, but my interaction was completely opposite of what I read. I spent about 30 minutes there talking to one of their employees about the dogs, temperament, different breeds, recommendations, etc. He was so knowledgable and so great with the puppies; I could really tell he loves his job. I am sorry that I did not get his name to name him in this compliment, but I could tell the great care he takes in his work and the love he feels for the dogs. He was so loving towards the pups, picked them up and loved on them as he was telling me specifics about breed/temperaments, talked to them like they were his own pet, even kissed one of them! To me it seemed like he genuinely cares for the little babies, and it shows in his pride of work, knowledge, and time he took with me to help me out in learning about the breeds and their temperaments and other info about them. I really quizzed him on purpose, and I asked him a lot of questions about different dogs, how they do on their own, what breeds need a second dog to do better, what kind of health guarantee they provide, how many shots I would have to get the pup if I bought one, etc. Everyone in the store seemed to care for the babies and seemed to really care about the pups. He also told me that the pups do not leave the store until they have a home; which is great because it means that they don't just get dumped at the shelter (unless someone purchases one and takes it there which I know happens too). He mentioned also they have health guarantees, give a free vet visit, and all of the pups are all health tested before they are even allowed in the store. The whole store is very impressive for a pet store, and I was also informed that they have few select, reputable breeders that supply their pets. He also mentioned that they know where the breeders are, can provide information on the breeders, and only purchase their pups from a few of them (and purchase from the same breeders each time). Overall this was a great experience and although I don't usually support pet stores because of the puppy mills that typically supply them, I was very pleased with the experience. The gentleman I spoke to was very knowledgeable and really seemed to care about the job he did. The other two employees were equally helpful and polite. The place seemed very clean, the puppies were immediately cleaned up after and had food and water in each kennel. The puppies were all very well fed and looked very healthy. I did not see any questionable behavior, and I was there browsing for about 45 minutes. I am sensitive to smells, and I did not notice the typical overpowering smell that I expect from a pet store. I did not see or speak to one single rude person, which makes me wonder if the alleged rudeness in previous reviews is a matter of perception---or maybe if it has been rectified. I can only speak for my experience, but none of the three people that I talked to today at this place were rude at all. They all really seemed to care about the pups, and were doing whatever they could to take care of them. One employee was going around from kennel to kennel taking turns holding the pups and giving them attention and letting them out of their cage for a little bit. The store was clean, the puppies had fresh water, food, and the one puppy that I saw use the bathroom was cleaned up after immediately. I was incredibly impressed for a pet store. Again, I typically do not support pet stores because of the concept of profiting off of animals, but as far as pet stores go, this is by far above any others that I have seen. If the previous reviews are true, it definitely seems to me that they stepped up their expectations and have come a long way in their development and values. Thought I would stop in today for a puppy fix. Not busy but the place smelled worse than any pet store I have ever been in. Since there were no customers to speak of there was no reason for the kennels not to be spotless. They had way too many puppies in there today. Are there any regulations to how many puppies can be kept at any given time? There's no way these pups are getting the care they need. For $1700-$2700 per pup there should be plenty of well paid help in there, not just one person who didn't seem to care about being there. Really sad to see this place in such a mess. Do not support puppy mill purchases!!!! These poor dogs get treated horrible from the employees. A puppy the size of my hand ended up falling out of a cage that was open about 9 feet from the ground and the employee threw it back in the cage without even checking on the puppy or having a care in the world. They spray febreeze in the air and on the dogs throughout the whole day. It's not good for us so why would it be good for new born puppies? It's not. Most people who have bought a $800+ dog from this place wind up with a very sick dog and awesome vet bill. Go to a shelter and save a life. Don't support this place! I went in a couple days ago with my friend and I came out feeling so upset. I love animals but it killed me going in there and seeing them with no food/water and they just fight with each other and nobody does anything about it. They are all so sweet but they are just sitting in a kennel with their own feces. They are all just so expensive too. I don't know if it was just who was working there when I went in or if it's always like this but it was a group of young women. One woman had a dog bed that looked pretty heavy and just threw it in a pin with tiny dogs not caring if it hit or hurt any of them. I checked out the back because I've always wanted a rat. They have maybe about 5-6 in a small cage so it looks a bit crowded. My friend saw one and told me "Look how cute, that one is sleeping." As I took a closer look we both realized he was dead... in a cage with other rats and he could have gotten the other ones sick. I was just mortified and I even considered working there because I felt so bad for the animals. read more

This place SUCKS!!!!! Puppies had poop all over them the 2 SNOTTY girls working there were on their phones the ENTIRE time we were there. AND ACTED IRRITATED THAT THEY HAD TO WORK! Another customer was looking for a future emotional support animal for her teenage son and they told him he couldn't hold it to see if he bonded with it since it was going to be his . I got my dog here, and am fairly pleased. They bill themselves as a breeder-sourced puppy seller, and their prices are a little higher than actually getting a dog from the breeder yourself. Their dogs are well taken care of, and have an array of breeds. The pups have their beginning shots, well groomed, and kept in cages that are open and clean. I appreciate the friendly service, and the employees cam be seen cuddling the pups themselves. read more

I purchased a Goldendoodle female from Pet Ranch in Thornton, last week. The puppies we saw there were healthy, happy, and many to choose from. Their cages were perfectly sized for the puppy type and the personnel there seemed very interested in their well being. I was treated with respect, had all my questions answered, and couldn't have been happier with the puppy I selected. She went with me to her new forever home in South Texas, making the road trip very well. I can't thank the Pet Ranch enough for all their help and guidance with my two shorkies I purchased right before Easter. I have had dogs my whole life (over 50 years), and as I get older my dogs are getting smaller. I have been looking for a shorkie puppy for months and when I called the Pet Ranch and learned you had several females to choose from I loaded up my grandkids and made the drive to Thornton. There were only two left, they were female, just what I wanted! All three of us fell in love with both puppies; we couldn't choose one over the other so we came home with both girls. Not only are they super cute, they are brilliant too! All the information they went over with me at their store was very helpful and I learned a few things too! The veterinarian they use is top notch and it's obvious that the health of the puppies that they sell is their number one priority! I walked in simply to go look at some dogs, not interested in buying but just wanted to see what dogs they had. I walked in and it smelled like feces and urine. All the dogs were sitting in open wired kennels and clearly were never let out of that kenneled area, they had to go to bathroom in the very tiny space that had more than 4 dogs in each. I only walked by and looked at the dogs. The dogs looked almost lifeless, they looked ill and very sad. They don't even get proper water bowls to drink out of. The dogs are drinking out of bottles hamsters drink through. These dogs are clearly from a puppy mill and not from breeders. I would never purchase an animal from this store and support their sick cruel business. The store made me so sad I was probably in there for less than five minutes. And that was enough for me to gather that the animals were mistreated. read more
