Rude cashier. I wanted three towels for dogs wash because they were extremely thin. Cashier said no bring your own towels!

Check the price that gets rung up. My item had a sticker that had the regular price and , in bright red, a sale price that read $4.99. It rang up for almost $7. The associate said that was a unit price, not the actual price. What? They would not honor the price on the item with a dollar sign and 4.99. Wouldn't you think that's the price? Seems like bait and switch to me, which is unacceptable. Lots of other places to shop so, see ya'. read more

Like this Store Very much ( Oakland NJ ) ..Its Always Clean , Easy to Shop , I do not feel overwhelmed by a huge space , or large -to many choices ( not saying they only have few , They do have plenty to choose from ) But I like that there is smaller Pet type sections to the way this store is set up (seems more organized to me ) The employees are always friendly and helpful is needed ( they have always said hello , Can I help you , and do I need help to the car with Larger items . I FINALLY FOUND A GREAT PLACE TO BATHE MY DOG! This place is awesome because my 65 lb dog will not climb into a high bathtub and is so squirmy that I cannot lift him in but this location has a low tub that he can step into. You can get a punch-card... 5 washes for $25 which is a great deal! The only catch is if you lose the card you lose the washes, which is weird because they have a card that has your account info on it, so you would think they could match the washes with the customer account. So just be sure to hold on to your punch-card. Everyone is really nice here, too. read more

I waited to see if this store would respond to my complaint about their service, but nothing, so they deserve this review. I'm a goldfish afficionado for years, worked in the pet industry too. Know a LOT about fish, obviously much more than their employees do. Just started going to PSP, loved their selection & prices. Shame for them to lose a good customer but, hey, their choice, so I'll let everyone know how they treat patrons: Went 1.5 wks ago to get a sm fish to be with my oranda - he's lonely. He is perfectly sized for his tank & I knew adding a sm fish would be fine. I could move it to a big tank when it grew. We go to PSP, I see a comet that I like - this tank is good, other goldfish dont look so great. Noone in the dept, I go look for help. There's a ferret right there by the fish, people can put their fingers thru the bars. Ferrets cute, my daughter & granddaughter are playing with it. Finally find an employee (and shes got an attitude already), we go by the fish, first thing this employee does is tell my daughter in a very unfriendly way that the ferret bites. Why is it right out for anyone to interact with then? If its dangerous, why is it where anyone can stick their fingers in the cage? Stupid & something they should fix - they're supposed to be 'experts', right? Yeah - experts at rudeness! Anyhow, I ask for that comet. She tells me they grow big. Duh, these are carp - I already know. She gives me a lecture about stuff I am already very experienced in. Try to explain to her & her co-worker (who doesn't have attitude but still knows nothing) that I know what I am doing. They insist my oranda will eat the comet. He is not big enough to eat anything but his granules. Nope, they decide they can't sell me a $3 comet that I am perfectly able to care for, but I'm pretty sure that if I said I wanted to feed it to my snake, they would have no problem selling it to me - I guess it's okay to kill it that way. I can see that nothing I say will change their minds, they think they know everything & clearly believe this customer is an idiot. I usually go to Absolutely Fish in Clifton, bought my oranda there, they know I know what I am doing but Oakland is closer. Should have stuck with the experts in the first place. Impossible to get good fish from a place with employees who know nothing & refuse to accept that a customer just might know much more than they do. Went to a different, new, store in Ramsey, found a nice healthy moor, bought him with no problems & he's great! Has not been eaten, will not BE eaten & my oranda is back to being lively! Moral of this story? Only buy your pets from a place that will respect what you know! Otherwise, you will not get what you need. A week later, we went back to the new store where I got that moor from & spent $300 to get another pet that we will take extra-good care of, simply because we know how to care for our pets. So, if you are the kind of aquarist who knows what you are doing, have kept any kind of fish, DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE - THEY CLEARLY THINK THEY KNOW EVERYTHING! I CAN TELL YOU THEY DO NOT! Basically, if you are experienced & do not need the input of someone who does not know what they are talking about, you should go somewhere else! read more

New to Oakland, we decided to try the local pet supplies store. Glad we did cause this place is the best. The staff is amazing. From talking chew toys and bully sticks or the difference in dry dog foods. They are knowledgeable and always available for assistance. Dog grooming here is simple. They have a punch card $25 for 5 washes. Walk in, have the cashier punch your card, grab a towel or 2, and head to the self service wash station. My dog is fussy but the system is so easy and quick she has learned that a reward will follow her bath. Sign up to be a member free and get rewards. Plus great emails with sale items and specials. Let me begin by saying this place is amazing. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I was looking for a pet grooming place to have my dogs bathed when I called the store and Manny answered the phone. He explained that didn't have a pet grooming department, however, they did have a self service dog bath. He gave me the details and within an two hours I showed up to bathe my dogs. The self service area was very clean and equipped to bathe my dogs. The store also provided me with all the essentials (towels, apron, shampoo, air dryer, etc.) a huge plus. In addition, the store has a great variety of pet products. I am definitely going back to Pet Supplies Plus and would recommend it to anyone. read more
