I came into the 11 1/2 and Hoover, Warren location after I started fostering Georgia, a severely malnourished senior dog and I was looking for advice on what to feed her. I am INCREDIBLY GRATEFUL that the person who was there to help was the manager, April. She pointed me in the direction of very healthy food choices, best harness and leash, treats and training ideas and has been with me every step of helping me to get this sweet stray dog back to health. A loyal customer for over 5 years- several pets and I utilize this location for more than pet food purchases but also washes, and vet clinics. The customer service was exceptional at the beginning but as staff has changed so went the customer service- Justin the assistant manager is condescending and quite rude on multiple occasions . I have overlooked it quite a few times for convenience but final straw was today. I made a purchase- and also purchased a pet wash. Another customer was using the facility so I waited with my giant dog in the car and returned close to when I thought they may be finishing up. I waited in line and advised I'd paid for my dog wash and was requesting the water be turned on. Justin questioned me and didn't believe me as another cashier rung me up, he then radioed employees to confirm my purchase - the employee had just left so I advised that I just saw her walk out- I do have a receipt that can be located via phone number. Again I shop here A LOT I own several dogs. I am not hard up for a free pet wash- Justin confirmed my purchase but was still quite rude and condescending before I could finish my dog the water was turned off- not even 30 minutes thankfully I was rinsing -funny thing- as I was leaving another customer made the same request for water to be turned on and was given no problem nor questioned about their pet wash purchase. I like Pet supplies but Justin has consistently been a real jerk. read more

Love this place. It is close to my house and they are always in stock of my pet staples. The prices are average but the deals/sales can be awesome. I would tell anyone to stop by here for a bag of pet food or a new bone. Bonus they have a low cost vet clinic once a month for all shots, heartworm, etc. It can be a long line but worth it by the money you save. read more

I come to Pet Supplies mainly because (1) (again) it is geographically close to where I am and (2) it is the only store (that I know of anyway) that actually let their "clients" (ie, dogs mainly) walk their store with their humans! It is a break for my "daughter" from the monotonous "block walk" we have everyday and from the "scenic" parking lot of every establishment I visit where they do not allow you to take your pet inside. Today, I discovered yet another reason why Pet Supplies Plus is a must for me and my dog -- their self wash section! She certainly appreciates getting a fresh bath other than her groomer's place! Though the prices are not so competitive in this store (hence the 4-stars instead of 5), Pet Supplies Plus offers me and my dog an "experience" every time we come in here. And the bottom line for me is that the few extra pennies per can of dog food I spend is a small price to pay for that experience. read more

So I wanted some cute, googly-eyed goldfish. Meijer had a fresh shipment, so I bought a couple and dumped them into an old fishbowl I had sitting around. Hmmm. Not gonna do it. I searched everywhere for a small, reasonably priced aquarium to no avail. Bummer! Will little Clementine and Frankie be destined to a boring life inside a tiny glass bowl??? Alas! PSP on Hoover to the rescue! A gorgeous, feng shui style 5.5 gallon aquarium with a pebble fountain...ooooooh...priced within my budget!! They were so nice and helpful with at least 8 available employees staffing the store!!! Wow! Very well stocked, too. You'll be happy to know that Clementine has been reunited with her cousin Sunny and Frankie with his long-lost twin brother, Hanky Panky. (Yes, I bought more fish. I bought a kitty condo here, regular price $169.99, petsmart had there's on sale for $119.99, and they prove matched no questions asked.!!! How's that for service? We are in here quite a bit to pick up dog food and crickets for our gecko. My daughter loves animals that no one else wants to touch. The staff always looks at her odd when she wants to hold a snake or when they had a tarantula. She will hold the animals the staff won't. She's definately a future Pet Supplies Plus employee. Staff is very helpful. I order online and they immediately would call or email me that my order is ready for pickup. Very considerate and helpful on the phone. I am a regular customer so some of the staff know me and my car when I go to pickup my order. Justin is the greatest and so are the other staff that I came to know off. Staff has no care for the animals that they sell. I go in about once a month to pick up food, toys, and treats for my guinea pigs and rabbit and every single time I go, the guinea pigs have some type of illness and I would assume it is no different for the other animals. I bought my guinea pig from here and he ended up having ringworm. I went back the same day I found out and told the manager that they need to disinfect the cage and toys and to treat the other guinea pigs. She literally could not care less about it. Last time I was there, the guinea pig in the cage had a nasty case of RW that was so bad his ears, eyes, and nose were completely crusted over. I told the cashiers and they acted clueless and like they didn't know what to do in this type of situation. I even got fed up and got in contact with corporate because of their complete lack of competence when it comes to the well being of the animals. At this point it's not even mistakes it's just straight up animal abuse on the owner and managers part for not training the employees properly. This place should NOT be allowed to sell live animals. read more

Was in yesterday(June 20, 2019) and I doubt I will go back. After asking for help getting the cat litter I wanted off the top shelf (I gave brand name, color of jug and price) the staff brought the wrong little. I repeated what I had asked for. She ended up bringing the right brand and price I had asked for, but I specifically said "not the lightweight kind" but that's exactly what she brought to me. By then having another associate interrupt, telling me I should have gone back there with her so she would know what I wanted...well, I was DONE!
