Friendly staff, large building with large parking lot. There's a very large room dedicated to fish and some turtles. I saw a few rabbits and one or two cats in a cage. I went in to buy some wild bird seed but they didn't have any. read more

Recently got into the pet fish game and was genuinely surprised when I saw gerbils and rats being held in 15 gallon aquariums with pellets/food as their substrate? Nowhere to hide, just food as their bedding and bathroom. Was hoping to get some shrimp but was not hoping to be let down when seeing baby rats packed together in small containers :( On top of that, as unfortunately common as this is, I was sad to see a tub of feeder goldfish in the back with well over twenty dead fish floating in it. Overall was very upset with this interaction. I've been to petco's that take better care of their animals. I understand that animals come in and out of these places so "not giving them the most deluxe cage" for their temporary stay isn't a priority but I mean come on guys. All the bare minimums were not being met, and are now setting terrible examples for people who will go into getting these pets thinking they're going to be easy to take care of because they saw them in a tank with some seeds and a knocked over wheel, people will follow as they see. I mean if I get a response saying "please reach out to discuss further" like I've seen on every other bad review like mine just no, just do better, please, for the animals that don't have a voice. Just do the bare minimum please. You're setting a bad example for people who want pets. Please. Thank you. read more

DO NOT SHOP HERE!! DO NOT BUY ANIMALS FROM HERE!! this place sells sick animals. I bought my daughter a bunny from here on Dec 24. On January 9 it was dead!!! We did EVERYTHING that they advised when we bought the bunny. When I called 2 days after I purchased the bunny to let them know that she was sick and had diarrhea, they shrugged me off. Now the bunny dies and they say "24 hour policy" so nothing can be done. Waste of money!! Do not shop in this dump!!!!! Should have known better by how nasty and dirty this place is. Terrible!! I use to go all the time- but let few times I went it hasn't been pleasant how it use to be, just walked out- the owner couldn't even speak or acknowledge the presence of a customer- I just walked out - it's Halloween- you close at 5 pm- I walk-in at 4:50 so miss me with all the bad vibes you just gave- if Halloween is so important to you- close down for the day!! This was the most vulgar, rude sales person I have ever come in contact with. I stopped in to get some fish for my 5yr old. We looked around for awhile and made up our minds. I asked the, so called owner, ro help us. I told her of 3 fish that we wanted, maybe she just didn't hear me. As she informed me of other fish that might be more to our liking. No matter what, there is still no reason to use the vulgar language that was displayed. Again my 5yr old grandson was with me, to be M/F...ed and told to "get the F... out" , over some fish is outrageous. Then she thought she needed to save face, went up ro other customers and told then that I was cursing and calling explicit names. If you have no problem with vulgar language, rude sales people, or just a non kid friendly store. Then see what Greenwood has to offer. To top all off that off, I was then told by the foul mouthed sales person. "It's Sunday you need to go to church, I'll pray for you." I wish that she would, maybe God would have some quite time with her and give her some piece. Maybe even help take away some of the anger and negativity in her life. I have been coming into this establishment for decades, even helped build and straighten thing out when the now owners took over. Had no idea this place was back in business. Went there to pick up a couple of fish and plants with a pleasant experience and saves me a trip to petmart which isn't so local here. Great selections of fish and aquatic plants. I would shop here again! read more

As someone with a pet rabbit, I was pretty disappointed to see that they choose to sell rabbits. I once asked where they get their rabbits and they gave me a vague answer and were not transparent whatsoever. This leads me to assume that they are selling rabbits either from rabbit mills or an unethical breeder, as is the case with most rabbits that are sold in pet stores. If you are someone looking to adopt a pet rabbit and you turn to a pet store like this, you need to understand a couple things. First is the fact that your rabbit may have had questionable origins. You may think you are "rescuing" a rabbit by choosing to buy it from the store regardless, but in reality you are simply increasing their profit and the demand for rabbits to be sold in pet stores. The second thing is pet stores will typically misinform you in regards to what proper care for a rabbit looks like, and it seems that this is totally the case with Greenwood. They advocate for keeping your rabbit in a cage or hutch, which can significantly reduce the quality of life for your rabbit. Ideally, your rabbit should be in an exercise pen or free roam. They also primarily carry products for small animals that are cheap and unhealthy, such as cheap hay and pellets. I did not see a single Oxbow product, which is really the only type of store bought hay or food brand you should be giving your rabbit. They even had a collar with a bell on one of their rabbits, which you should NEVER force a rabbit to endure. It is irritating to them and given that they are very sensitive to sound, the bell will drive them insane. And overall, the rabbits seemed to be in less than ideal conditions. I have seen some of them roam around the store before, but their display case and hutches are extremely dirty. I can not speak for the conditions of the other animals in the store, so I will not give Greenwood a 1 star. However, the care the rabbits are receiving and the instruction they are giving to care for them is pretty abysmal. Please do your research thoroughly before getting a rabbit, and I highly encourage you to adopt rather than shop. read more

The store is really big and nice on the inside, they had lots of small animals, birds, turtles, and fish. I walked in the fish room and wow it was nice. Most pet stores these stay are not clean and full of clutter. Greenwood is not. Mike was super nice and helpful when it came to choosing a fish. He was very very knowledgeable on all the pretty fish in there i kept thinking to my self, if i owned a pet store i would have this guy run the place. Overall Great pet store. It was worth the 45 minute drive. read more

Nice clean but don't let that fool you! New owner is a very mean nasty man. I bought 4 fancy goldfish and few others. Around 40.00. I was sad 2 fish died next morning and I called, they said no refund over phone, but when I went into store and seen all 4 tanks I bought my fish out of getting med treatment, I cried and demanded a refund. It was given to me... I went home started treatment on my last fish I had bought from them, I call my neighbhor and told him what I found out at greenwoods. He treated his fish. Next day mine was dead. Called my neighbor, his died to durning night. I call greenwood told them. They said manager would call me back, NO ONE Called! I could not get there that day, I has two deaths in my family that night also. My uncle and cousin. I put fish in fridge till they could go back. Long week of funerals and family gathering. Still no Greenwood call from them. Sunday my family affaires were in order. I took a trip to store with two dead fish. They wanted water, I have no water. It been drained and sterilized to rid of the illnesses in it. They had my report of me calling, they had there sick fish still ill in same tanks, some missing. Did they die too? I got mine from, yet it was MY fault they died.. Even the one that did not live at my house from day one, DIED at my neighbor house. I guess he uses my water too... They made me call the owner right there in the store, he answered the call, he started yelling at me in his Non-American voice I could hardly understand.. Like a mad man! I lost my voice some yrs ago and to get sound out I have to yell it out, I am not yelling just talking loud to get my voice out so people can hear me, I am disabled. He yelled louder calling me a LIER I at the top of his lungs! What a nut he was. All I wanted was my money back. You think I wanted his first born. He banned me from ever coming back to the store. All over 4 DEAD fish..This store is no better than it was, at least the old owner would work with you and make thing right.. This new owner just wants to steal your money from you.. I live on fixed income being disabled and I was robbed out of 20.00 still from this store.. Beware if you buy... They use the same nets in sick fish tanks as they do in well fish tanks, just passing the illness around... Sad, hurtful experience that no one should ever go through.. Stay away from this store, there are a lot of better new improved pet shops out there like Sea world (new owners-great store or oceans and seas- newly remodeling going on now). I like to give -5 stars not +1star.. PS: your reply is unnessary, you had no heart when I tried to explain to you what happened when we talked on the phone. My neighbor went back then next day and seen the fish still be treated. It was no fault of my own. I did buy two new goldfish in New Baltimore that are still happy and healthy from day purchased. Went in to buy some rabbit food and check out the mini lops bunnies. The pen stunk horribly. I asked to pick one up and they hesitantly said yes. When I did, the poor animal was covered in feces and smelled repulsive. He looked as if he hadn't been cleaned in weeks. There were four guys standing around while we were there, and I can't imagine they are so busy they cannot take care of their own animals. The store is clean, however, animal care is seriously lacking. Very sad and disappointed. read more

I was extremely impressed with this store! My husband and I had been to about 5 other pet stores, looking for turtles. I was very turned off by either the smell or the cleanliness of all of them (they also didn't have what we were looking for). By the time we arrived at Greenwood, I was pretty well expecting that we would enter a similar experience. I. Was. So. Wrong. The store was bright, amazingly clean, and there was zero smell. Every staff member stopped us as we walked through, and asked what they could help us with. There was a staff member in each of the live animal areas, cleaning, along with 2 staff members working in the dry food/supply area. I can't repeat myself enough- awesome customer service, amazing cleanliness, impressive knowledge by all of the staff, of all of the animals we asked about. They were all very nice and helpful - it was very obvious that they enjoyed working there, and that they had a genuine interest in the health and well being of the animals there. Since the reopening and new owners, the store is completely clean and the animals are taken care of amazingly. I've been there a few times since the reopening only to be completely disappointed with the staff, well not all staff actually just one in particular. The tall male, every time Ive gone in he has been so rude, non personable and every time I asked him a question he was beyond rude with the answers. As well as my child, he was so rude to my child as well. Who at a pet store would be mean to a child?! Makes no sense. Not all staff is like this those, a few of the girls there are so nice & I was hoping to come back and get one of the bunnies but with this males uninviting service, I will no longer take my business here. I'm not the only one that has had this problem either, a few of my friends have also had this type of experience with this particular male. Having worked in customer service for five plus years before my career, I know this is surely not how you should be to any customer. It saddens me but I wish I would have gotten his name. I'm very disappointed because I grew up going to the old greenwood and was so excited to see the new owners remodel and make that store how it should be, but I really do think they should reconsider him as a part of the staff. read more
