I love how I was so embarrassed to ask the cashier if he had some paper towels after my dog got scared of a bigger dog and wet the floor, only to have him brush it off as something that happens all the time. It happens so much that apparently I've walked past several "clean up" stations camouflaged in the aisles and never noticed. To be honest, I avoid Edgewood when I can. The traffic flow is a recipe for disaster... and a lack of monitoring in the parking garage leaves shoppers vulnerable to mugging, even with a police station right there in the Target building. But Petco's "Vetco" is a convenient, reliable and reasonable resource for animal health screening. Veterinary nurses provide a gentle, thorough testing for heartworm, FIV and other issues for dogs & cats, on select Saturday afternoons. The line was well-managed, paperwork was organized and staff was helpful and friendly. Within a week, I had email results for each of 3 animals and recommendations for further pet health. It's comforting to know Petco can handle these services. A good neighborhood resource. read more

One of my favorite stores to shop. Associates are knowledgeable, friendly and not pushy. Store manager Kim is a true boss and has done so much for Petco. I've worked at a few pet stores and Petco is my favorite place with their varied collections. Serenity collection is my favorite. if I'm not in this area my other favorite is the Peachtree City Location. A few of my old coworkers are there an are also very helpful. read more

Waited fifteen minutes for someone to respond to the overhead page I requested for an employee to please help me buy one fish from a tank. Finally, Oli showed up. Instead of saying, "looking for a fish?" or "how can I help?" he banged loudly on the countertop with his fist and said loudly, "you're not supposed to be back here!! What do you need?" He didn't even look at me. I was about to turn around and leave because of the rude way he spoke to me, but really just needed to buy this fish for my tank and get back to my day job. I told him directly that if you need to express a message to another person, the way he did it was not appropriate. Then without speaking to me, he walked over to me and turned around a small sign that was three feet below my field of vision and said, "here's the sign!" I told him that I'm 6'5" and I didn't see the sign. I told him I needed a particular fish, and he quickly grabbed it and bagged it up for me. This is clearly a person who doesn't like his job. It's ok sometimes if we all have to say something to another person they don't want to hear. But a message is ultimately 20% what's being said and 80% how you say it. Awful service. I hope a manager (who had stepped out when I was there) will address this with Oli. read more

Petco is just like all the other Petco's, only Atlanta-ized. That means it's smaller than suburban locations, and the staff is less helpful. But besides that, it's a decent pet store. Exactly what you'd expect. Not the healthiest fish, but again--exactly what you'd expect. read more

I had a terrible customer service experience at this location. They were unintelligible about their own services and were not accommodating in improving in their services from that point on. This all frustrated me from our first encounter, but I needed my cats supplies so what do ya do I'm already here right, so I order what I need it, only to receive the wrong product. And just like that I am reminded of my first interaction with this Petco. So I called the store to see if something could be done without me waiting for another to be shipped. I spoke with manager Jamie, he said he would look in the back to see if they had any in stock that I could come by the store to pick up. I'm thinking 'thanx for all the inconveniences, but great!) So I wait only to return and hear him tell me there was nothing else he could do, he literally said "I tried and I failed." read more

I had my Rottweiler Charlie Baltimore trained by Sunny and could not have had a better trainer. Charlie was only 6 months old when we brought her to Sunny and she is two years old now and still is one of the best trained dogs I have encountered. I have a new toy Pomeranian puppy named Diamond and I can't wait for Sunny to train her. Good luck with retraining me lol. See you soon. read more

I went here this past weekend with Terrie, my wife of 12 years, in search of a new tapestry for our renovated living room. (Our home flooded a few months ago; I won't go into too much detail other than to say that along with everything else that was damaged, Terrie's grandmother's antique tapestries were completely destroyed. As you can imagine, Terrie was utterly heartbroken.) Petco was recommended to us by a mutual friend and we had hoped it would be our solace to help fill the void in Terrie's crushed heart. First off, we had hoped to escape the stench of our rotting, water-damaged living room carpet by getting out of the house, but upon entering Petco, the smells that penetrated our nostrils were far worse. I was dumbfounded to see that adults were freely walking their animals around this store. (Is this the policy for this location only??) Terrie and I were both appalled. During the flood, the living room television was damaged and had electrocuted our cat Lucille... The LAST thing Terrie wanted to see was walking reminders of this. One of the cashiers, Chad, seemed almost offended when we brought this up. It's simply a safety/cleanliness concern in my opinion. Furthermore, he could not tell us where in the store the tapestries were (it did not seem like he adequately understood our needs). Said Chad, "I don't think we carry those." Luckily for us, the store redeemed itself when we found an aisle of large glass box displays. We put a 45 gallon box in our living room and Terrie loves the way it looks filled with pictures of the kids. It's almost like Terrie's grandmother's tapestries were never ruined at all. read more

So I evacuated from Florida because of Hurricane Irma and my dog needed a shower and his ears cleaned. I have an Old English Bulldogge and he usually gets his bath done at in Coral Springs, Florida and it takes about 3 hours for completion. They finished here in about an hour and a half and ask for me to come pick him up due to the limited cages. Which I can understand. When I received my dog back he didn't feel damp but smelled good because of the cologne they put on him. Later that night I noticed my dog scratching his ear and shaking a lot. I looked into his ears and noticed that the outside was the only part that was cleaned. They completely half A**ed the ear cleaning. I called the supervisor and they said I can get it redone if I bring him back but I already left due to limitation on hotels. He then told me that it can be done at another petco groomers. I went to the other petco and they said they can't get paid if they didn't wash the dog themselves which is understandable, but the guy was nice enough to do it for me. That's the only negative thing I experienced from this petco but other then that they had an amazing assortment of fishes and a very knowledgeable fish keeper. read more

I had the WORST experience of my life taking my sweet Corgi pup Bukowski to a VetCo in Atlanta, Georgia to get basic yearly vaccines today. The location is at 1267 Caroline St NE, Atlanta, GA 30307. The vet, Dr. Carson, appeared very rushed, was rude and completely unprofessional. We had calmly and patiently waited for two hours in two different lines and paid for the services when it was finally our turn. Instead of treating my dog with kindness and care to give him his shots in the least traumatic way possible, the vet technician forcefully held my dog down. They would not allow me to touch my dog and only speak to him. He was trying to get away from the very beginning because they appeared to be hurting him. When the vet administered the shot, he jerked his body, which is not a reaction he has EVER had getting shots. I stated this. Same happened when a second shot was administered in his back and I stated he looked like he was in pain again. Dr. Carson appeared frustrated with my pup, and then went on to draw blood from his front paws for a heartworm test. The vet yanked my dogs front paw and held it out as my dog wiggled and yelped in pain. My dog whimpered and cried and Dr. Carson did not let up. He switched to pull on his other paw and my dog jerked in pain again. I voiced my concern about how they were handling my dog and they blew me off, even asking me to go to the side because I seemed "upset". I told them absolutely not. I should have left the moment that I saw how they were holding my sweet Bu, but I had just waited for two hours and thought, hey, this is a vet, they know what they are doing. Clearly, they wanted to get it done as soon as possible, and did not give a damn about how they treated my pup or me. After it was done, I exited the store ASAP very upset, and called to leave a complaint with the manager as soon as we left. The manager apologized but what else could they really say? About two hours later, my dog was extremely lethargic and would not walk. When he tried to stand, his back legs shook, and he laid back down. He was not acting like his happy, playful self in the least bit. He did not want treats, food, or water, and would not walk when I tried to entice him. I just returned from taking him to an emergency vet which cost an additional $170. The vet stated that likely due to how Dr. Carson and his vet technician were forcefully handling my pup, and his reaction (jerking), the shot likely hit his muscle. He flinched and squealed in pain when the emergency vet touched the part of his back where the shots had been administered. He required fluids and an anti inflammatory/pain medication. I plan to go into the Petco tomorrow to follow up with a manager. Due to Dr. Carson and his technician's unprofessionalism and forceful handling of my dog, both me and my dog had a traumatic experience and my dog was caused unnecessary pain. He has had shots many times before. He does not like them but this kind of response and side effects thereafter are not typical. I also spent an additional $170 taking my dog for treatment at an emergency vet due to Dr. Carson's mishandling of Bukowski, which is RIDICULOUS. The vet and his staff should be ashamed of themselves. If you don't want to provide quality care to pets with kindness, what are you doing it for? I will NEVER shop at Petco or take Bu to get shots there ever again. read more

The only reason I am posting a 1 star rating is because it is the lowest possible rating. Yesterday I was in the store for an appointment with "Vetco" for my puppy and I had the WORST customer service experience. Actually it went far beyond bad customer service as there was a clear difference in how Vetco employee Debra treated the African-American customers vs Caucasian customers! This was my second time using this Vetco in this store and during my visit the previous month, it appeared Debra was picking and choosing who she was available to help from the line but I didn't pay too much attention to it. However this month she blatantly decided who she would service, and when she did wait on African-Americans she displayed a nasty and unacceptable attitude. I was the first customer in line and had been waiting for around 10-15 minutes, the Vetco staff was late getting to the store due to traffic and it took them a few extra moments to set up. After a Petco store employee and Debra both acknowledged I was the first customer in line, Debra finished setting up her station and then told me I would be helped by Conley while she would help the second customer in line. Conley had not even begun to set up his station and therefore was clearly not ready to help me. Conley was an African-American like myself and second lady in line was Caucasian. After seeing the look on my face as I began to protest, Conley said he would begin helping right away (even though he had not yet gotten his things together). While Conley was taking care of me, an African-American woman approached Debra and was explaining the type of assistance she needed with her dog's care. During the course of the conversation it was obvious that Debra and the customer were not on the same page with her needs so the customer asked, Do you understand what I am looking for?, and Debra replied, "Yes, you want something for free" the lady became visibly upset. Although I was just overhearing the conversation, I knew that was NOT what the customer was requesting - she was looking for a recommendation! Once Conley finished taking care of me as I was leaving Debra noticed a package under my arm which read Sentinel. She then went over to Conley and loudly began accusing him of giving me something for free. By this time I had enough of her behavior and I went to her and explained that Conley didn't give me anything for free. The package she saw is what SHE gave me during my last visit. I brought all of my paperwork and packaging for this visit so I would have everything they may need as I am a new pet owner and want to be diligent with keeping accurate records. I shared this horrible experience with Petco Manager Bonnie who then asked that I share it with Assistant Manager David ???? In response to hearing this they offered store coupons, stated they would pass the information along to Vetco and apologized for Debra's behavior. I declined the coupons as I refuse to spend anymore money in this location. This has been where I purchased all of my supplies for my new puppy but this type of treatment is 100% unacceptable. I have yet to hear from senior management as requested. I am in management as well and if I heard one of my employees behaved in such a manner - they would have heard from me by now! read more

Warning about Petco Return Policy! If you loose you're receipt your at a loss. Petco will not accept your return if you loose your receipt. No credit or exchange. They need to take a lesson from every other retail store out there and allow a credit or exchange if someone does not have their receipt. read more

The customer service that I have received at this store is fantastic!! The guy who works with the reptiles is so knowledgeable, kind and responsive. I didn't know you could still get such good customer service in a retail outlet!! read more

This Petco is located in the Edgewood Retail District. It's very convenient for me to visit this location because it's very close to where I work. The employees here are usually very nice. I always get asked if I need help with anything and if i do, they always do a great job of giving me the info I need or helping me find whatever product(s) I need. I recently took my dog here to be groomed for the first time and I was really pleased with the job they did! I'll definitely be bringing him here on a more regular basis since they did such a nice job. The only thing that I don't like is their rat selection. I am a snake owner and I have been here numerous times and they are either completely out of rats and I have to go elsewhere to buy them or the rats they have to sell are really small in comparison to their description(medium rats and small rats look the same size most of the time). And their prices for rats are completely too high. read more

Me and my partner frequent this location quite often because we have so many pets. EVERY TIME we come in here we can't seem to find help getting crickets!! We wait and wait and wait... Two weeks ago we went in and couldn't get help. I ask one of the four associates working the registers if there was anyone that could help and she said no. I told her we fine we would get them ourselves and she told me not to but we did anyway! After waiting forever, we literally bagged 5 dozen crickets ourselves ! When we checked out, a different girl from before was ringing us up and I ask if they had a manager working and she Said yes, we have 4 working!!! I was dumbfounded!!! And I asked to speak with one and low and behold it was the girl from earlier and she was avoiding me so we paid and left..... I barely ever write reviews but this still angers me even two weeks later because I've been driving further to ANOTHER retailer to get my LARGE amount of supplies and crickets that I don't have to wait 45 minutes to get! read more

I have a small dog..yorkie/Pomeranian mix with very thick hair (like a pom) and have taken him to get his hair cut multiple times there. He's 9 now and I groomed him myself the first few years however his hair seems to grow faster and faster the older he gets so I decided to go get a close shave the past few times and it's hit/miss. Mostly miss. I'll be very blunt: they made him look like a freaking lion after I told them to cut the hair on his face short. His face was 8 times larger than his body. The lady told me he looked adorable. I told her to take him back there and trim half the hair on his face and make him look like a bear..puppy face, something less like lion king and I might give her a tip. Since I was paying over 50 bucks. Rip off. I haven't been back since, But I digress. I have had multiple tanks, starting small and ending with a 75 gallon tank. The list of fish I had is endless, beginning with a betta who lived to be 6 yrs old! ...until he jumped out of his tank. (Learn from my mistake!) My main tank has always had a diverse population, all freshwater. Started with tiger barbs at the top, Cory's (also reproduced) at the bottom along with a pleco who lived to be 7 and almost a half a foot long. Chinese algae eaters, danios, Molly's (terrible fish btw...) then to Angels. My tiger barbs reproduced and I couldn't keep them with their aggressive nature so I looked into cichlids (kribensis) and bought about 5 of them. Within the first year they have had 100s of babies. Half of them usually don't make it due to being eaten by tank mates but it's quite adorable to see the eggs and the mother protecting them until they get big enough to fend for themselves. My point being: I know what I'm doing with our freshwater friends and it's incredibly depressing to walk in to any pet store like this and see the state of their fish. No wonder they offer "glow" fish. Aka: fish dyed a pretty color, a process known to kill them quickly. If you see these...know that they are like this because the breeders inject them with color (yes, a needle) so please don't support that if you love your pets. Next gripe: I went to check out some bettas....one shelving unit of the five were completely dead. I call buying a betta from a big box store rescuing because that is just what you're doing. They are hardly, if ever fed. Bettas are hardy fish but cannot survive without food longer than a week and the water they are kept in is...gross. If you want quality fish I say order them online from the source ( one that is insured and makes sure you get a live on arrival fish) I end my rants...buenos noches! read more

It's conveniently located, and if you can choose your shopping times appropriately to avoid the crowds in the shopping center, I like this place. It's clean & everyone's always been nice, and it seems well staffed. We don't have an aquarium, but the fish seem happy, healthy & the tanks are clean & fun to look at. In fact, all the animals seem clean & cared for. We have a cat, so we've never utilized their grooming options, but they did have everything we needed to take care of our cat after a surgical procedure. Much better selection than Walmart or Target, and I found the prices are comparable. read more

Had a very bad experience at the groomers here. I have been bringing my dog here for grooming for over a year with no issues, but today different. And I've never seen this employee before and I'm a regular customer. First off, I was charged for the nail grinding service which is supposed to leave the dogs nails smoother than using regular clippers but it costs more. But when i went to pick up my dog, the employee told me that my dog should be muzzled and should go to vet for grooming in the future. MY DOG HAS BEEN A REGULAR CUSTOMER FOR A YEAR WITH NO ISSUES. but today this new employee said he gave her trouble. I apologized over and over then paid and left. But when I looked at my dog's paws in the car they were a mess!! 3 nails hadn't been cut AT ALL!! and the nails that were cut weren't done with the more expensive grinding tool that I paid for!! So i was overcharged. They were very sloppily cut, obviously with regular nail clippers. Worst of all, several of his nails were cut WAY TOO SHORT. of course, this employee thought my dog was upset and might bite, SHE WAS HURTING HIM. very upset. Never going back. read more

This PetCo has somewhat helpful employees, but a lot have no idea what they are talking about. Also, their fish displays are full of grime and are absolutely filthy, and most of their Bettas are sick. The final straw was when we found one Betta that was dead for sale in a cup full of filth. Absolutely despicable. I wanted to save all of those fish. Immediately drove to the Petsmart on Ponce. My advice? Stay away. read more

This is a review for Petco's new dog trainer, not so much the store in general. I had a great experience training my newly adopted 3-year old dog with Sunny. She emphasizes gestures, tone of voice and the importance of doing your "homework" with your dog and takes the time to walk you through each step and get it right before proceeding to the next. The one-on-one lessons were super effective and cheaper than most of the competing businesses ($99 for 6 1-hour sessions) I can already notice a difference in how attentive and responsive my dog is when I start a training session at home. read more

This morning i watch as a manger yelled at an employee that was already is tears. Over not getting donations the day before. i will never shop at this store again or any store that treats there workers in such a deplorable manner!!! I love this store. The location is fantastic. I can get a lot done in one area. The prices at the store are significantly higher than the petsmart down the road, but they do pricematch if you have a flyer, and they also accept competitor coupons. As for the dog trainerN he is great and almost always available for questions. The grooming department is wonderful. We have a lab and a poodle and they always do a wonderful job. We have had Bob and Haley give our lab a bath and he always smells and feels clean afterwards. Gillian and Emily have groomed our poodle and he is adorable when they work his magic on him- he gets scruffy sometimes! The prices for grooming are higher as well, but the dogs smell better and seem happier then when they used to go to petsmart. I didn't know this until recently and I was super embarassed when the womanpicking up at the same time did it and I didn't, but you should tip your groomer. It is the polite thing to do! No way! I went here once, and as an aquatic animal lover/keeper I would never purchase from here or even step foot in this place again. When I asked the man if he had any African dwarf frogs he picked up a nearby bowl, shook it around, and slammed it back down on the counter. A tiny, terrified, malnourished frog swam around for a second then tried to hide in the back of the bowl again. I've had dwarf frogs in my tanks for about 4 years now and they are very shy and timid creatures, they get stressed out very easily. To stress it out even more like that just saddens me and made me realize that I am not getting a quality product. Looking at the fish, all the tanks were dirty without proper lighting or the correct fish in communities. The bettas all looked sad, droopy, and sick. Don't waste your money here, continue down Moreland towards little five points, take a left at Ponce and go to the Petsmart on the right. It is way better than this dingy outhouse full of jerks. read more
