We took our chihuahua mix to the Petco in buckhead for the Vetco vaccination clinic last month. the vet sent a prescription for Heartguard+ through email to us. When we tried to fill it at Costco, we were told that a hard copy of the prescription was necessary. Costco tried to call the Vetco vet to authorize over the phone, but the vet at Vetco refused to cooperate citing that they only do that in house. We were told that another vet was going to authorize the prescription at a later time (maybe one business day?). After three days, we contacted Costco about the med, and were told they were unable to fill it. Out of desperation, we returned to Vetco in Buckhead to fill the prescription and were told by the staff that Petco Buckhead did not have any prescription meds or foods, and that we would need to go to Petco Sandy Springs to fill the prescription. We drove 8 miles down the road to Petco Sandy Springs and were told that they were a clinic and a hospital, but not a pharmacy, and that they could not fill a prescription written by the vaccine clinic vet. They told us to go back to Costco, and they were nice enough to print out the Heartguard prescription on their printer. Finally, back at Costco with a printed prescription, the Costco pharmacy took 45 minutes to put a label on a box and sell it to us. So several miles on the car and several gallons of gas later, a $50 prescription took over a week to fill, and no one at any of the stores really knew what to do. The idea behind the vaccine clinic is great, and it helps cut down on vet visit exam fees and other overhead. However, this is not the way to accommodate your customers, and it put a bad taste in our mouth for using Petco/Vetco vaccine clinics again. I would definitely not recommend them. Today I sent a client to this location to get their dog groomed, get treats and get a toy. This client had already completed all of these things before I had ever arrived. The client, in all of her excitement, shared that she was going to be working with a professor trainer (me) in a bit. Amanda, who identified herself as a manager, told my client that she needed to leave the store... I came in calmly, introduced myself to someone who was texting at the second cash register, and proceeded to ask if there was a way to salvage things. I explained that this woman had already spent close to $200 on grooming, treats and toys and that I didn't think she needed to walk away feeling this way about the company. Amanda was curt, rode and combative. Those of you who have been there know this. Those of you working with her know this. And those of you in charge of managing her have heard this complaint (please check the camera footage from today been 2PM-3:30PM. Even as I attempted to de-escalate and salvage this situation, she unfortunately fell into the "it's our policy" loop that people unqualified to manage anyone or face time with clients say when they've run out of patience and the ability to reason. The unfortunate part is we don't ever come to this location. Their reputation in the working dog world proceeds them. We weren't there to train at that location. We were there to buy supplies to train at my client's favorite restaurant about 100 feet away. Even after presenting my credentials and trying to reason with this person I was told I was being rude. It's all on the camera. I reminded her that her job, like mine, is a customer service job. And that stockholders were relying on her to get this part right. She simply would not let up. So here it goes, and so we are clear: Amanda, while you may have believed you were right, your aggressive and combative approach prevented you from discovering why we were actually there: TO BUY A TOY AND TREATS TO TRAIN WITH NEXT DOOR! You went out of your way to offend a paying customer - an active customer who came to your place with their new puppy. You robbed her of what should have been one of the best days of her life as a new pet owner - the first day, those first treats, and that first toy. That's a really crappy thing to do. That's the literal opposite of your company's mission statement. Had we been there to train, that would still absolutely be the wrong approach. The mistake was mine though. I sent her to you. I won't ever make that mistake again. So instead of the $167 she had ALREADY spent (we've since returned everything), you get a bunch of bad reviews. Ego concerning the wrong part of your job is why they should let you go. Your coworkers silence let me know this is who you are. The example you set for him was gross and the exact opposite of what you are there to do as a "manager". Management is a complex job no doubt. The moment you lose sight of the absolute fact that you are CUSTOMER SERVICE, you begin the countdown to your eventual and inevitable separation from the company. So good job. You win. A policy is not meant to be an excuse to abuse and destroy a customer base that doesn't belong to you. Nielsen reports 97 percent of consumers read online reviews, and that they trust reviews as much as recommendations from friends and family. To have a fighting chance in today's digital world, your business needs to be consistently getting new reviews. And you just got one from a globally respected K9 subject matter expert, university instructor, certified K9 SAR instructor and Training Director for one of the world's foremost institutions. I am willing to bet a few people will understand the significance of this review. Oops. P.S., A quick Google search reveals that Petco has more negative feedback online about this policy than they have positive reviews about the training they offer. May be worth considering if this policy serves your customers, your employees or your shareholders. Seems to be costing more than it's worth. read more

Let me say Haz is amazing! Best groomer. The check out with Tyler is why I am giving this pet co a 1 star review. He purposely made me wait over 15 mins in line while he drank his energy drink, texted on his phone and chatted with the two other people in front of me. It wasn't until another lady came in line behind me when he decided to ring up the people he talked to for over 15mins. Amanda the manager came out to assist the young lady behind me while she had only waited 2-3 mins in line. When I tried to fact check her (and...uhm I've had successfully goldfish for decades now) she got extremely argumentative. I started to wonder if she was on drugs or could benefit from a professional medication consultation. She was looking to argue. It was absolutely crazy. If you want an argument, go to the fish department here and see if the person working (I didn't get her name- purple hair, nose ring) will sell you a goldfish or any fish for that matter lol. I wish i could say good things about this place but i can't. We had the worst experience with HANNAH as our groomer. One she was extremely rude and made snarky comments because i wasn't familiar with the lingo they used for haircuts. As a golden retriever they are not suppose to have short hair. Hannah failed to provide customer care or service. She practically left no hair on my dog and left patches. I called the store to file a complaint and they weren't much help either. If I could give negative stars I would. I took my dog here for a regular grooming, which I have done on countless occasions at countless different petco and petsmart locations throughout her lifetime. She is a well mannered small dog who has NEVER had an issue with grooming in her 12 years. Paige was her groomer and when I arrived to pick her up, I was so casually told "she got a cut on her ear". I immediately panicked and asked to see the "cut". This was not a "cut" at all my dog's ear was slit into separate pieces !!!!!! She was actively bleeding and terrified. I knew immediately she would need emergency care and stitches. I was infuriated with not only the fact that my dog had been injured so gravely but the audacity of the staff to not call and notify me of this Injury immediately after it occurred is heinous!!!! I was further infuriated when I asked the "Grooming manager" if everything was okay when I first arrived to pick her up, and knowing that she had been injured, he lied and said "yep she's fine, just finishing up". The carelessness, lack of emergency notification, and the lies were ridiculous!!! The cut on her ear looks like it was attempted with shears that were way too large for her small 9 pound body. The groomer was completely negligent and the entire staff was very nonchalant about why I was so enraged. I had to take her for emergency vet services and they (petco) undoubtedly paid the bill as an admittance of their negligence. I should have been contacted immediately when she was injured!!! If you care about your pet DO NOT GET THEM GROOMED HERE!!!! I have been following up with the manager and general manager and there has been no response since this incident occurred!!! This was the worst groomin service ever! Tre'shella the groomer, really made my whole family including dog very sad this evening. She shaved my dog almost bald and left multiple patch's in her back. During check in we talked about my toy poodle having matted hair around her collar not around her whole body. When I left I WASNT aware my dog had matte on her legs or back or anywhere else ( other than neck) I picked up my dog the last hour before store closed. I was receiving other calls from other other employees rushing me to pick up dog before close( it was 7:30p.) the dog finished at 715... the customer service was off this evening and were never going back. This is by far the worst haircut my dog has ever gotten. I'm not sure where petco is hiring their amateur groomers from but this specific location is TERRIBLE!!! I've used petco groomers before and haven't been let down which is why in a crunch I chose to go with someone familiar after my pup took a mud bath. They butchered my little Pomeranians hair. The hair is uneven, patchy, and not at all the haircut that I requested. They failed to cut his nails as I requested. I'm disgusted by the experience. I'm asking myself what I actually paid for. This is by far the worst experience i have ever had at a Petco! For starters their "vaccine clinic" is a table in the back of the store. Completely unsanitary! They have you stand there with your anxious and excited dog while talking to you about their Pet Plans. Then they proceeded to make rude comments about my daughter puppy being a wild child, as if he was supposed to sit and behave quietly on a floor he couldn't even stand on. Then when I'm finally trying to check out and get my anxious puppy who had just received 5 vaccines and a microchip out of there, they can't process my card as credit. Instead of assisting me their very rude and u professional cashier Latavia just took the next customer. How are you a corporate store with the inability to process a transaction as credit ? She was rude the entire time, when it was my turn in line she said nothing, she didnt say "next" she didn't say "how are you". But as I proceeded to tell my father that I would never come here again she interjected into my conversation by saying "and that's fine". I immediately said I am not talking to you why are you in my conversation. She proceeded to argue back and I immediately asked for her manager Amanda. Amanda was nice and checked me out but did not address her cashier. I hope she does. The entire team was nice but i wouldn't suggest bringing your dog here if you're looking for a caring experience where they don't rush to stick your anxious dog 5 times in the middle of the store with a bunch of people standing around. Good luck finding anyone to help you at this location. When I go in, there are usually between four and five employees working, and none of them ever want to assist a customer. Clearly, stocking and chatting amongst themselves are more important than customers. Actually, it was not here but the Petco location off of Howell Mill and Collier on the Westside (there is no listing for that location so this one takes it for all Petco's). We walked in and I heard a voice but did not see anyone. I saw the beds however, and immediately started walking towards them. Then a female employee became visible and repeated her greeting, kinda snooty this time. I informed her that we had found what we were looking for but thank you. She proceeds to take the nearest chair directly behind me and watches me browse. Uncomfortable. There was one else in the store but don't you have something else to do but watch me, and so close!?! Is this because my dog is black or because I'm black? Wait, both? But this is Buckhead, are they stealing dog collars from you so bad that you need to keep your eyes peeled on me? This was all going through my head and even some choice phrases that I won't torture you with today. I decided to break the ice as it was dead silence in the store. Not a drop of music. I will never bring my dog to this location for grooming again drop off time with an appointment 1:30 pm the given time was to be 3 to 4 hours so when arriving at 5:30 & being told Vino still wasn't ready was not thrilled especially on a first visit. Left in limbo I finally get a phone call from management at 7:45. You must pay first (basically your dog is being held until you do) after speaking to the manager about the time issues and getting annoyed with having my time wasted finally had to ask "can I have my dog? " Following the manager to the grooming area Vino was brought out & Immediately noticed that he had a spot on his head a bit bigger than a quarter that was bleeding. We all saw it and it could not be explained by anyone, the groomer working on him (Barbara ?) at one point tried (a failed attempt) to say "he must have come in with it." This comment was shot down as she fumbled for another. Payment was returned, they took my name and phone number and Never even called to check & see if he was o.k. or not. My dog is a special kind of dog (he doesn't like the groomers and can be a feisty Yorkie), he took the time with him which wasn't long compared to when he is at his old groomers. I usually go to Petsmart but just moved within walking distance so decided to walk and get my dogs nails trimmed. The employees were not professional and acted as if I had interrupted their day by bringing in my dogs for service. There was one employee and he was not grooming at the time. One of my dogs is nervous and releases his anal glands (I know gross) and occasionally pees when nervous. Grooming is a nervous situation for him. They refused to grind his nails after this. I've never had groomers refuse service for any nervous dog or my dog. I respect the decision if it was possible for the dog to get hurt or the employee but the attitude of the employee (David the groomer) was unacceptable. my standard poodle has been to just about every private groomer in brookhaven and buckhead and none of them have compared to the Buckhead Petco. Loren, our groomer, is the best. She pays so much attention to every single detail, asks lots of questions about the type of grooming and goes over all the needs my dog has; it helps she is a former "show groomer" so she definitely knows poodles. I will never go anywhere else and if Loren ever leaves Petco, we will follow her. read more

Let me start off by saying that I'm really glad I didn't look up the previous Yelp reviews. It looks like the most recent really negative Yelp reviews are from 08/2018. I can't speak to what those negative reviewers received, but my experience at this location has always been really positive (I live really closeby, so I periodically pop in to buy random treats for my dogs). Today was my first time though taking my two medium-sized dogs here for nail buffing (i.e. ground instead of cut). I actually went twice today because I took my dogs separately. Both experiences were absolutely positive. The groomer Brittany was soooooo awesome! One of my dogs has been orthopaedically-challenged since he was a puppy (he's now 12+-years old) and has never been able to walk a lot, which unfortunately means it's hard to wear his nails down naturally (i.e. his quiks are pretty long). Plus, he has all black nails. Despite that, Brittany still managed to give him a really nice pedicure! I literally cannot recall the last time his nails have looked this great (he's been in our family for 12 years...). Previously, I always took him to his vet or doggy daycare's grooming for his nail trims, but they never managed to give him such nice pedicures. Brittany is AMAZING! Brittany gave my other dog a lovely pedicure as well. Marcus at the register was also super awesome, helpful, and friendly =) Please don't be dissuaded by the negative Yelp ratings for this store - the store may have been less-than-pleasant in the past, but I can wholeheartedly say that my experience here as been quite positive! Please give them a shot (and give positive Yelp reviews if you're inclined) so that they stay in our Buckhead neighborhood. It's really nice being able to take your dogs to the nearby Blue Heron park, then stopping by here for some treats. read more

I have always gone to PetCo for all of my dog's location for me. I took my Australian Shepherd in for a bath and mini groom (bath, nail clipping, and I added the shed release). I booked online and my quoted price was $75. When I took him in, I asked specifically that the only thing to be cut was the fur around his butt area. When I picked up dog, not only did the groomer butcher my dog's fur but they charged me $103. I was told the price jumped because I added a service when I arrived, which I hadn't. I pulled up my confirmation email that showed all of the services I scheduled which included everything I had asked for upon arrival. I was told that "sometimes the prices vary, and the price online is a estimation". I understand that prices vary, but $30 is a big difference. Once I got home and took a closer look, I noticed my dog's fur had been cut extremely short (and unevenly) around his ears and there were patches. The fur on his stomach had been (unevenly) cut as well, which I did not ask them to do. I am extremely dissatisfied with the at the service I received today, and I will not be returning to this location. read more
