Lucky for Petco that I just adopted the cutest, sweetest Pug Stella therefore I ended up going a little crazy in there! They had a huge selection of outfits to choose from & some of the most adorable Christmas outfits for your fur babies! I couldn't resist in buying my Stella a red Christmas outfit with the cutest pink skirt:) They also have a nice selection of healthy dog treats that were reasonably priced. The customer service was very friendly & wanting to help me in any way plus there was no long wait in line! Carolina in the grooming salon is incredibly rude! My husband went to drop off our dog to be groomed and was greeted with eye rolling and a rude lecture telling him if he's late again we can't come back. Seems like she could have just rescheduled us instead of the rude comments and eye rolling. Now I'm worried if she's going to be mean to my dog too!!! I took my dog to get groomed and he left with his back legs not working... IM SO MAD. and they had the nerve to say he came in like that. My dog is super health and loves fetch, we went and spoke to management and they reviewed the footage to see that he was perfectly fine walking in and saw him leave limping... they offered a free visit to their vet but im calling a lawyer. I don't love it here, but I don't completely hate it. The grooming salon and the medical center seems to always be overbooked. With this, they seem to find any reason possible to cancel an appointment. I've been told in the grooming area that they don't have time to "brush out" my dog... literally why I bring her to a groomers. At the vet care, I watched them cancel another person's appointment because she was one minute late. One minute! On the other hand, when I can successfully get it, the salon manager does a great job with my fussy doggy. She's also apparently allergic to at least one of the vaccines, so the vet care gives her special attention there too. This place could be so much better if only their policies were more customer focused. read more

Christina at the register has no idea what she's doing. 20 minutes of my life I'll never get back standing at the register while she figures out how to run a gift card. Then proceeds to embarrass me saying there's no money on it. I call the number and there's $50 available on it. I tell her this then she runs it a fourth time and suddenly it works. I asked her to call for someone to help her multiple times so I can just pay the bill and let other people in line go to the register, and she refused to do so. I purchased an item online and I went to do a return. Lisa or Liza was working the register she was very rude from the beginning declining my return without helping. She asked for a receipt which I didn't have because I purchased online to which she then said she couldn't do anything to help, I went to look for receipt in my phone and couldn't find it. After over 20 mins of looking I came back inside to which she the said she could have just taken my order number. She was very rude when asking me about the purchase to which she kept finding buts to. She couldn't because I didn't have a receipt, Then because I didn't have a account with petco. And finally she tried to decline my return because the items "didn't match ". She didn't try to help at ALL just kept saying no and no. She had a very rude tone and no sign whatsoever of wanting to be at work. If you want to work retail make sure you have the attitude and willingness to help! I suspect this could have been her being indirectly racist towards my mother and I as she was very friendly towards other customers and started acting this way when my mother spoke to me in Spanish. I will never shop here again after being treated like this by Lisa! Dropped my dog off and prices are $10 more in person than online which is already frustrating, then I ask how long it will take and they say 3 hours , they start calling me at 2 hours repeatedly saying he's done, I told them my son was taking a nap and that i would be there asap after he wakes up, and that it was an hour earlier than they said which is what I was scheduling upon, they said no problem come any time before close! , they then call me at 3 hours and say "it's approaching 4 hours you need to come get him NOW , they cannot keep any dogs past 4 hours" ?????? I went to buy a guinea pig or a hamster for my niece's graduation, we had found a guinea pig that we had like, and had told my boyfriend to go get help on getting the guinea pig. When he came back with the help the lady started questioning us if we had all the proper equipment for a guinea pig taking in mind that this was our first time purchasing. We had even told her we didn't have any proper equipment that this was our first time getting a guinea pig, and it was a gift she made it such a big deal that she went to go ask her manager if it was OK on us purchasing a guinea pig paying it with our own money she questioned us ,asking if we were even educated on owning one,I literally told my boyfriend that let's just get a hamster instead we got the hamster and she still questioned us and told us that she she wanted to be sure that this hamster was getting taken care of and because it was a prey animal , at this point i was getting so upset she was questioning me about buying the hamster (i get that it might be protocol but it's not really her business it's just her job to sell to us not to investigate) i had things in my hand that i was going to buy and i left it all behind . Cianna helped check me out but the customer service was not as expected. I don't appreciate that when handling a dog she wanted me to go get the dog for a treat for him. Normally the cashier would give you the treat, I did not want to look like I was going behind the counter. So I asked her to provide it but instead she pushed the jar towards me to open and retrieve my own treat. It was terrible timing when I'm holding a leash and a bag of dog food. Went to go get some fish today and the worker with the purple hair and shaved sides was very rude and condescending about the type of fish I was purchasing. She kept asking me how many tank I have and how certain fish can't be together because one might eat another. I already have the type of fish I was purchasing and didn't feel the need to respond to how I planned on housing the fish. She proceeded to say her manager said she can refuse service to people like us. Unfortunately has to leave with no fish or treats for my pups. Won't ever visit this location again. I would've given them a zero but no option. Went for dog food. I use Iams which I didn't think was a bottom shelf brand. First thing when I walked in, an employee moving a pallet of supplies literally saw me coming, pulled it in front of me and stopped, thereby blocking my path down the main aisle to get to the back of the store where dog food was. Then proceeds to stand there and chat it up with her co-worker. I had no choice but to turn around and find another route. I'm wandering around for awhile looking for my brand (never been to that location before but it was nearby where I happened to be). Three THREE employees walk by me, can clearly see I'm looking for something and not finding it, and ignore me. I finally found some other employee and asked her if they carry Iams. She said in the most condescending manner possible "oh, I haven't seen it in awhile but it's grocery store grade so it'll be on the back wall if we have it". Then hesitantly walks me back there. There is wasn't any there so I asked if there was anything comparable and she said (again condescendingly) Purina and points to it as if only lowly people purchase that for their pets. First, absolutely rude. Everyone in there. Second that's the laziest bunch of people I've seen in awhile and all looked bored stiff. I'll never stop there again for anything. read more

Super rude worker! I was walking in 25 minutes before closing time since my cats had ran out of food and there was a worker standing near the entrance of the store and she seemed extremely bothered that we were going in close to closing time, and even made it very clear as we walked in because of the faces she was making. Visited Vetco total care inside PetSmart My 9 year old shih tzu/maltese was experiencing a lot of pain and discomfort. I called a few vets near me and everyone was booked solid and wasn't taking in walk ins. Fortunately I called Vetco in Avondale and they had an opening on the same day. The person who took my call was so kind and friendly. When I arrived to the office , I was greeted by front desk and immediately taken back to a room. We were 15 minutes early and they took us back. The tech named Michael came in and triaged my dog , he was so patient and kind to my dog. He listened to me and observed my dog. He focused on making sure that my dog- Mochi calmed down and felt safe. As we all know, most dogs hate the vet and any type of medical setting. It's almost as is they sense fear around them. Mochi wasn't able to get on the table let alone allowed us to lift him so Michael took the time to work with him on the floor until Mochi relaxed. When Dr Bycroft came in, he was the same way . Super empathetic and caring. He assessed and observed Mochi , he took his time and I didn't feel rushed. It takes a certain kind of person to work with animals, this team at Vetco is exceptional and marvelous. By the time they finished with labs and X-ray , they explained his plan of care and answered all my questions. If you want to excellent care , take your pet here. They'll be in great hands and well cared for. read more

(my complaint is towards Vet-co and the grooming depart.) What is the point of scheduling an appointment, if you are still going to have to wait behind a long line to be seen? I had my dog seen at Vet-co and that's exactly what happened. We got there some minutes early and they were on their lunch, so we set out to browse the store.. big mistake, we waited behind a long line that didn't have any particular order, despite scheduling. The vet and nurse were kind enough though. On another occasion, I had my dog's nails trimmed, they looked like I had done them at home myself; did not look all that great. One day I called asking if they had dental check-ups, the phone got hot-potatoed around and no one knew. Everyone at this store is always super nice though, Ive never ever had a bad costumer service experience. People just seem to enjoy their jobs!:) read more

1 star is for William who has to be the only person working in the store with any type of common sense. Being a rewards member of this store and location, I feel Cori (the manager) needs a course in customer service. At no point during my last 2 visits at this location, did I feel as if providing customer service was if the utmost importance. During a Buy online pick up curbside order I waited 45 mins outside in the 107 degree heat while the workers in the store who text me to say the order was ready did nothing to grab 1 time off of the shelf. After asking to pick the item myself I was told " it alters their orders" and that my order would be ready in about an hr, after I had already. As I drove 1/2 home, about 3 miles away they call and say the order is ready to be picked up. They do not value customers time. I work from home and tried to pick up dog food on my break which seems unlikely at any juncture in the road. I was told that items do not exist but I was able to find them after searching the myself for items the website said were available inshore. During the return of an item, I did an even exchange for a more expensive item, paying the difference for it as well as another item. My dog could not fit the collar so I waited until my next day off from work to return it. I did not have the receipt but had never did a return there before so it should have been pretty easy since I was getting 2 other items. I was not asking for my money back at any point. The cashier who sold me the collar remembered me buying it and agreed to do the return when I was ready to ring my items from my new purchase. When I went back to ring up my order tha was 4x the amount of the collar I was given the biggest load of bullshit I've ever experienced from a manager who is depending on consumers during a pandemic to keep her store up and running. Cori seems to lack common sense not sure if she understands customer retention or the value of a repeated customer who places at least 2 large online orders monthly . I also had my dog go though puppy training at this location. Had I known. This manager lacked the basic ability to think rationally; not the head cashier actually remembered selling me the item; primarily bc of the issues with the curbside order the week before. I was accused of making returns w/o a receipt in multiple occasions, Ivr actually never hd to return anything that required an ID of any kind. I ended up donating the damn collar Instore. She was racist and rude I am/was so upset about being treated like a thief for 8$ that I will never do business with any Petco based on the experience I had with Cori today. I will filing a formal compliant as well. My husband and I have spent more money than I care to admit on treats and training in the last 15 months. I am a customer who also frequently visited petco's in California. I will never spend another dollar here, I will be ordering from Chewy.com, thanks to Cori and her lack of customer service skills. read more

We have been surfing the internet, researching YouTube for tips and visiting various pet stores for additional tricks and tips. Popped in Petco just to look at their selection but, to our surprise, left with so much more. Kenny, works in the fish section, was so knowledgeable and helpful! This young man is super passionate about the hobby which translates into excellent customer service. He took the time to explain his experiences, provided do's and don'ts all while genuinely listening to what we were trying to accomplish with our tank. I am DISGUSTED with this Petco and their unethical handling of small animals. I came in to adopt a male Guinea pig (a skinny pig). The first thing I noticed was the front of its cage said MALE $149.99 but the side of its cage said FEMALE $129.99. An associate came over and we asked for confirmation of its gender. The associate pulls the pig out, checks it and says he is 100% a male and I would be charged the $149.99 for the MALE. I was advised by the associate to get TWO male pigs for companionship as they don't do well alone. My mother was with me and stressed that she was worried because of the two different tags, the associate again guarantees us that he is a male and to purchase another male for him. So I spent hundreds of dollars on a very large enclosure and came back in to buy a second male Guinea pig. Now, fast forward, upon taking the pig to the Vet to get him checked out, it is NOT A MALE. So now I have had a female and male pig in an enclosure together for a month. It will be a MIRACLE if the female piggie is not pregnant. Obviously my first call was to Petco. The manager and associate I spoke with (Jesse and Sue) both could not have cared less and told me to simply return my female pig. How insensitive and CRUEL. The Vet quoted me $465 to neuter my male pig. Not only will petco NOT give me any of my money back, they also said it was never their responsibility to verify the pigs gender at all, and that this was my fault as an owner because I signed paperwork for him. They said it's in my paperwork that the gender could be wrong. I have looked intensely at ALL of my paperwork and NOWHERE IN MY AGREEMENT DOES IT SAY THE GENDER CAN BE WRONG. NOWHERE. Telling me to simply return the pig, is disgusting and cruel. My pigs have a HUGE enclosure and receive tons of love. To throw the pig back into a tiny glass cage is UNACCEPTABLE. I should AT THE VERY LEAST be refunded my $150 plus tax, for my NOT MALE pig. As well as not being responsible for the massive vet bill of $465 to have my male pig neutered because of Petcos NEGLIGENCE. On top of ALL OF THAT, I now have to pay for yet another vet visit to check if my female pig is pregnant. I was told the District Manager would call me back, they never did. Animals CANNOT AND SHOULD NEVER be treated with such negligence and insensitivity. Petco cares NOTHING about their animals well being and only cares about turning a profit. They only provide electronic prescriotions that are illegal in state of az. Vetco is not located in az..all services are outsourced to the Mediterranean. They want you to get your prescriptions filled at petsmart. Costco has the cheapest medicines for animals. But you must have a real prescription which cannot be provided by vetco or a fax of a prescription that cannot be provided by vetco. The way around this us to have your regular vet fax the prescription to costco. I will never let my animal br harmed there again by their "drs" that no one knows where or how they were hired. I oiterally drove down hete twice and they supposed to close st 8:00 but the lady told me they literally just changed the hours to 7:30 that day. Today, drove all the way down here again coz of traffic i arrived at 7:28. Technically they should close 7:30 on the dot but, no, soon as I arrive, they were teling me and that Cori ob the blue shirt said it's 7:30 on their conpany time when it is 7:28 on all of my gadgets and even on the news. After the incident with what happened at the groomers with my dog I went back in to get a refund. The manager Sue was doing the refund and was "secretly" recording me. I didn't say anything even though I was watching her record me until she started catching an attitude. I asked her why she was recording me and she said it was for her "safety" which made no sense because I did nothing to make her feel threatened in any way, she was just asking me questions and I was answering her. She then proceeded to make comments and I let her know she should at least let the other person know what they are recording and she stayed quiet and had a stank face. I didn't want to give her my time or energy so I just left it as that. Poor service all around I really do not recommend this location at all read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I've had no problems with the groomers at this location in the past but this last time I took my pup he came home with a abrasions on the inner corners of his ears that required medical attention because they had become severely infected. Even the actual veterinarian confirmed that the abrasions were due to razor burns. When I called to file a complaint the manager was absolutely imprudent but surprisingly agreed to file an "investigation". I got a call back a few days later and she tried to blame the cuts in my dogs ear on me and specified that she had spoken to her so called "honest" groomer and they had stated that they didn't even work on his ears. My pup is a Bichon Frise mix and his ears were long and fluffy when I took him in and when he was returned the hair was cut short. This was honestly the worst experience I've had with Petco Grooming & I plan on taking my business elsewhere which is a shame because I was a regular client. I understand accidents happen but the groomer neglected to inform me about the incident and my dog was in so much pain to the point where he would not eat, drink water, or relieve himself because he was suffering from pain and fevers. This is the closest Petco to us that we visit often. It's your average store as any others. Parking can be a fight since there's a Chick-Fil-A across the street. They have a grooming area but we've never used it so I can't review that. Store is well kept and so are the bathrooms. Staff is friendly as well. I'm knocking one star off for online order to pick up on store. It takes hours if not a day to get my order. THEN if they don't have the item in stock it took them 9 days to refund my money. They didn't even notify me after a day that my order couldn't be completed. I had to call customer service for help where they told me they didn't have any of the item in stock. Overall a good store to shop in but do not order online to pick up in store. read more
