This is the closest Petco to us that we visit often. It's your average store as any others. Parking can be a fight since there's a Chick-Fil-A across the street. They have a grooming area but we've never used it so I can't review that. Store is well kept and so are the bathrooms. Staff is friendly as well. I'm knocking one star off for online order to pick up on store. It takes hours if not a day to get my order. THEN if they don't have the item in stock it took them 9 days to refund my money. They didn't even notify me after a day that my order couldn't be completed. I had to call customer service for help where they told me they didn't have any of the item in stock. Today I went in to get my dogs anal glands expressed. He freaked out in the beginning when I handed him to the groomer. She kept pulling on his leash to take him back. He freaked out to the point he tried climbing over the gate by the front counter in there. She finally was able to get him in the back to do the service. I didn't notice until I got into my car because my dog was licking at his paw and noticed his dew claw was ripped & bleeding. I called the store 3 TIMES in the grooming department and no one picked up. Finally after going home which is NOT far from Petco to try to stop it from bleeding I called Petco back and pushed the button to talk to customer service and finally got someone on the phone. Spoke with her. She hung up on me 3 different times by "accident" accident or not I was still pissed cause I'm dealing with my dog bleeding and trying to let them be aware this happened there. Manager was kinda rude about the whole thing and said "well there's no blood here so it must of not happened here and it's pretty hard to rip a dew claw" and other things. Basically shit customer service. I wouldn't be calling you if it DIDN'T happen there. She told me take him to an emergency vet and that corporate would most likely not reimburse me. Thank you PETCO for your shit ass customer service. I wasn't even trying to get the groomer in trouble. It was to let them be aware of what had happened, IN THEIR CARE. Groomers are terrible. This is the 2nd time I have taken my dog to this groomer. The first time they cut my dogs ear open badly which requires medical attention as well as a bad haircut that was choppy and uneven. I never intended on going back to them but I'm leaving town and needed to get her in before the holidays and so I has to choose not to get her groomed or try this place again. I thought that maybe it was a particular groomer that did so badly with my pup about a year ago. I discovered that this place really is just the worst grooming place all around. The most recent groomer didn't cut my dog, but she shaved her bare except her head which she had uneven and left a beard and shaved super close up the nose. It looks awful. I had asked for puppy cut, which means an all even cut without the froo-foo. I was getting her cleaned up for Santa photos and now I'll have to buy her a sweater and put something on her head to try and cover up such a terrible cut. See posted pictures of the most recent cut/buzz and the photo I had showed the gal asking her copy which is the picture of my dog wearing the Seahawks scarf. My dog doesn't even look like the same dog. It's terrible. Honestly the most terrible vet experience I've ever had. I took my kitty here to have her ear check out because there was so thing imbedded in it and she was scratching it raw. They sit me in a room that smells terrible like they haven't cleaned it at all since the last patient and there is loud music playing making my kitty even more stressed. After the very nice vet tech looked her over she saw what was imbedded and got the doctor. Doctor Cole or whatever looks in her ear and goes I don't see anything and proceeded to prescribe me steroid cream which obviously will help the rawness of her ear but there still something fucking imbedded in her ear. He also man handled my cat who has very high anxiety and tried to put her back into her kennel without asking and when she got scared and tried to climb up his arm he raised his voice at her and goes nope I'm not dealing with that and proceeded to tell me how much more well behaved his cat was. I am extremely disappointed in the unprofessionalism that he treated me and my kitty with basically saying that it wasn't necessary to do anything more than fucking cream. I will never be coming back here and you shouldn't either. Don't give your money to these people is more worth it to go to a real vet!!!!!! read more

I have taken my dog to a groomer only a few times ever, because each time she comes back to me with a very weird haircut because they don't listen to me and do whatever the "standard" cut is for my dog's breed. So naturally, when I took my baby here the other day I was worried the same would happen, but my grooming skills are not great and my girl needed some professional help, so I decided to risk it. Never liked this Petco. But started coming here because I had thought they had improved. Every time we go, there's the same couple ladies and management and different rules. It literally changes from week to week and from time to time. Tried curbside pickup and the lady was rude, demanding to see my receipts because we had 2 separate orders and she claimed there was only one. One-be polite and two- pretty sure you could look it up. Tried to do feeders from there and each time it's different rules and policies, ones that didn't exist the last time. Spent years avoiding this place and will go back to avoiding it again. All be advised, DO NOT purchase the vital care membership unless you are able to work around the veterinary clinics busy schedule which they failed to mention that they are only opened Wednesday thru Saturday due to being short staffed. And that's if you're even able to squeeze in to the schedule. I have a two month old pup that needs his vaccinations every three weeks and they were aware of this but failed to tell me their busy schedule in advance. Do NOT bring your dog here!!! We recently took our puppy to get groomed here, Sierra the lady who groomed our dog cut BOTH of our puppies ears inside and out. When we call to file the complaint the manager was so insensitive about the whole situation.. I was so shocked that Sierra didn't even bother to tell us that she had cut our puppies ears when we picked him up. She should of stopped grooming our puppy if he wasn't being compliant!!!! We used to bring our dogs here all the time but they had a change in Grooming management our groomers have left, they hire idiots, and they expect us to be satisfied for a high price. I brought my dog in yesterday to have Groomed. They said it'll be $63 to have my dog give it a bath combed and blown out and nails buffed and cut. I drop my dog off at 3 o'clock they close at seven they finally called me 6:57 and said oh we're almost close you need to come pick up your dog. I finally get over there there's no groomers on site and there is a bather my dog was still wet tail wasn't even combed and she still had meds underneath her private areas and behind her ears we did not notice that until after we got home now I don't know what the F happened to this area but corporate needs to clean house and hire people that actually want to be able to put two sentences together. These kids have a lot of nerve talking to us the way they did yesterday we talk to the manager and she was yelling at my wife a teenage girl was yelling at my wife if it was me I would've came through the phone young lady needs to lose her job for insubordination. Probably the worst Petco in Phoenix. I went to this Petco a few time, every time when I was there, I had to wait at least 15 minutes before someone can get me fish at the aquatic section. And the aquatic person didn't know anything about fish, didn't know how to net the fish, he even dropped the fish on the floor, and was trying to lie about that. One time I expressed my concern about all the extremely sick fish I saw in at least 18 different tanks, told the aquatic guy the fish was badly infected with ich, and please treat them with medicine. All he was doing was getting defensive, and told me they were fine, and it is none of my business. At this same incident, a coworker of his came over to the other customers near by, and said I was an a-hole for being a smart a**. As well as telling me to go to the other Petco because I am not welcomed. Complained to the corporate. Never heard anything from anybody after that. read more

Love the grooming salon here! I started taking my dogs here after my daughter recommended it and now my whole family comes here. I typically see the same 2 young ladies (I don't remember their names) they do such great work on their haircuts and they're always so friendly to me and my dogs. I've taken my dog here several times to get groomed. The staff has always been kind to my dog. However I just took her in on Friday. She started to scratch herself and I thought maybe they had left shampoo. 5 days later, we noticed she had fleas. I have no other dogs at home and my dog only goes to my backyard which is treated with insecticide every other month. I called petco to tell them that this happened, I spoke to the manager and she said it wasn't them because they don't accept dogs with fleas/ticks, but they always make you sign that if they find anything they'll treat the pet. I'm so upset that she tried to tell me that she got them from my home when there had never been issues before. I've had my dog for over a year, since she was a pup and has never had ticks/fleas. I have been shopping this store for the last 6 months for all the needs for my two pets. Clean store and easy to find everything you need. A little short of the staff to help, if you do need assistance it takes a little while. Grooming service has been an excellent experience all around! Great amount of service for great price compared to other places. We have paid just as much else where for a self service bath as we got for a full service bath at Petco! They took good care of my dog and attentive to his needs. We will be looking into their training program too and will update our review after starting that. read more

Will never take my poor pup here to get groomed, ever again. First off we dropped our pup off at 10 am for basic grooming, which is supposedly 2 hours, My husband went in at 12 and the lady told him that he was just now being washed so he came back home since we live so close. Well my dog wasn't ready until 4 pm! You would think after all that time he would come out perfectly groomed. NOPE! they completely disregarded our request for a "teddy bear" face and low cut body. He is uneven all over , one side of his face is completely longer than the other, random hairs that just didn't get cut. He doesn't smell as if he even had a bath. When my husband picked him up, hair was all over his shirt and the excuse was we bath the dogs first and then cut them. Doesn't make sense. He went in with no dandruff and no all of a sudden he has "dry skin" which has never been a problem. Ok this review is technically for Vetco, but I feel the need to give a heads up to anyone using this service. Honestly I have always loved this service, I've been going here for 2 years with both my dogs. Good service, friendly people and good prices. Today I took my dogs in just for their heartworm test. There was a line, like always, but it usually goes fairly fast. Not today. I waited in line for an hour and a half! I cannot believe it! The reason? They switched from paper (they used to hand out forms and every person would fill it out themselves) to....ding, ding, that's right you guessed it...electronic tablets and WHAT do you know? It slows down the process to a snails pace because the clerks have to enter in every individual person and dog's info themselves instead of having the customer do it while they wait in line. I cannot believe how slow the line went. I was in shock. I honestly felt bad for every single person working there because they were just as frustrated. Needless to say, the money I saved is not worth spending 2 hours there just to get a heartworm test. It was good while it lasted but I'm not going to come back :( read more

The groomers are very sweet! The young lady with orange hair was so kind to my 8 year old chihuahua Sam! He gets very nervous when getting his nails trimmed and I've watched them at work and let me say That I've never seen Sam so calm with clippers next to him! This store is always so short handed and the staff that is there is so overworked that they have a crappy attitude when they do help you. Went there tonight to get some fish food for my oscars and they only had 2 people working and one manager on the floor. There were four people in the aquarium area waiting to be helped and it took over 20 minutes just to get help. And than the person helping just wasn't all that bright and probably shouldn't have been working in the fish department probably since she barely knew anything about the topic.
