Signed up for puppy training classes for our two 8 week old pups - Malik the trainer was so terrific with them that we signed them up for a second session and now that that's completed we just signed up for the advanced training! We found everyone we dealt with there friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. read more

I am a new pet owner, so I was following all instructions... Had Bentley vaccinated Thru Vetco there and everything was smooth. Next was grooming... set up appointments, first appointment was bad. My Yorkie was only 6 months old and had not been groomed so was very afraid. They did not handle him well and said he was too apprehensive. When my son tried to take a video of him being groomed through the window, the groomer who I was told was the manager, stopped and just stared at us and instructed another to advise us SHE does not like being videoed. We shrugged it off and made another appoint. This visit was worse, he had a shot right before grooming and unknown to me was the cause of him being sore, but they, the groomers, bathed him and said he was still apprehensive and when i attempted to put on his collar he was whimping. I was advised he did that all through the process. AFter coming home and discussing with me son, he was obviously sore from the shot. Still gave them one more try and this time, they bathed him and when i picked him up was told he was still apprehensive and instructed that I should find a private groomer. Each time they never even cut his hair nor shaved him at all. I was upset and spoke with someone who told me to try another Petco. Went to Baldwin and the experience was totally different, much more friendly when I arrived, hugged my dog upon intake, looked up his records, even gave me a chart to choose how i wanted his hair cut which Carle Place never showed me. I allowed Baldwin to groom Bentley and was pleasantly surprised that they were able to groom him thoroughly even got a Mohawk!! The staff was very personable helpful and seemed to all love their job. The staff in Carle Place seems to be in it only for the check!!.. I would NEVER recommend Carle Place to anyone for grooming and am also writing a letter to corporate about this store. read more

Michelangelo died. Petco did pay my vet bills and offered me another tortoise, but at what cost? I suffered psychologically. I'm never buying a pet from a pet store every again and neither should you. Always adopt! read more

Took my dog there on several occasions and she even went to there training classes there. I called the Levittown store to make another appt to have he bathed and they told me to come in during the week when its not so busy since my dog gets really nerves and peed and pooped the last time when she was in the cage. This was all news to me and was not informed at anytime there was any sort of issue with my dog. If a dog is in a cage for a period of time, I would expect the dog to go to the bathroom. But what annoys me the most is at no time was I alerted there was an issue of any sort. To me this is horrible customer service and there is no regard for my dog. Perhaps she was sick or something and that is why she was nervous and relieved herself. Young people run the show over there and its just a paycheck for them, they don't seem to care much about the animals. I did complain to the manager, but she didn't say much. I would never bring my dog there again! read more

I have been coming to this petco over the last 2 or 3 months after buying my first betta. Jeff in the aquarium section has been especially helpful and very knowledgable on how to take care of any kind of fish including the most simplest. Always very friendly and suggests things to purchase in store that won't break the bank. He has also checked my water quality and told me exactly my water parameters if my tank has cycled or what not. Overall the store is pretty good and the animals on display are well cared for. Everyone has been overall very helpful. i dont know why others had a bad experience at this location, perhaps the line does get long but this is how it is in every petco I've been to in NY. I went to this store to purchase some things for my new puppy. Well, being a new dog owner and all, I'm still learning how to care for the new addition to my family. The staff on the floor assisting customers were really nice and helpful. But the cashiers, not so much. None of them were friendly (not rude, but not approachable). Except for one, this lady (didn't get her name) was very rude (black hair, glasses). She was very unpleased with my puppy walking on the floor in the store after she asked me how old the puppy was. She states the dog is too young and "shouldn't be on the floor!!". Yes, her tone was disgusting and very rude. I advised her my vet doesn't seem to think so and gave an all clear for the dog to be outdoors and on the ground. But she insisted it was too young and that I needed to pick the dog up. Again, my vet believes the puppy will be fine. I didn't come here for a lecture, I came for pet supplies!! There were other customers around and it created a scene. Embarrassing moment. Made me feel as if I was hurting my new puppy even though I was following the vet's advice. I don't mind accepting tips in caring for my new pup but her approach was horrible! And you could see the look of disgust on her face. It takes that one bad customer service experience to put a bad taste in ones mouth. I went back to the store once after and the same cashier was just as cold and not friendly during my transaction. Needless to say I won't be returning to this location. Rather drive out of my way to shop at another store with more customer service driven staff. The store had everything I needed and the floor staff who assisted me were very friendly and knowledgable. Especially the blonde lady who assisted me with setting up my tanks for my glofish. Very nice girl!! However, the cashiers (the staff, we the customers CAN'T avoid) should be more pleasant!! read more

Petco, on Old Country Road in Carle Place, is exceptional mostly because of the caring and helpful staff. I would like to especially commend Christian and May who have always gone out of their way to help in any way I need and to make my golden retriever feel so special. When I pull up to the store, my golden can't wait to get in the door to see all of the workers there, especially Christian and May. They are even better than all of the treats put together. 5 stars to Petco with my gratitude. read more

Brought my cavalier there for a bath and she came back smelling amazing and looked super soft!! Appointment was easy enough to make where we didn't need to call a few weeks back or something. It was about $30, which is a little above average in my opinion? The only thing I didn't like is you can't even see what they do to the dog at all which makes me nervous about how they treat them when us pet owners aren't there. I'll probably try it again, but we'll see! read more

My sister and I were out to lunch one day in the area, and stopped by this Petco location to pick up some litter and other essentials for our cat. I have only shopped at this location once, and have not been back since. Although our cashier was very nice and helpful, this is BY FAR the dirtiest Petco I have ever set foot in! The floors were not clean, and their shelves were nearly bare. Our cashier is the only reason I gave this place two stars. read more

The fish department here is one of the best that I have seen in any petco I have been to. The gentleman running the department was very knowledgeable about all of the different species of fish and was extremely kind. The selection was enormous and extremely well kept. I would recommend this fish department to anyone who is looking for great service and a large and healthy selection of fish! read more

Today I went to buy two leopard geckos. I was looking around carefully and found four in a tank. I asked a gentleman who was working around the fish dept. I told him I needed help with the reptiles, I told him about leopard geckos instead he told me to go for a more active gecko like a gargoyle or crested since they are tropical geckos unlike their desert relatives who are lazy. I denied the offer and thanked him, he told me he will be back to get a more intelligent employee to help me. She came to me and asked politely about leopard geckos and their needs. Judging by the way she handled them she had long time experience and knew what she was doing. Epilogue: 12/17/16 I adopted cheerios aka bubble butt since she has a regrown tail, all gecko tails will appear different than before. And of course a tanner gecko I named pumpkin spice for her color. I am a proud owner of adopting these two geckos from this Petco!!
