Hi! I brought in my kitten today to a VETCO hospital. I also brought my first kitten for her first appt bc of amazing service last year. Today I had a vet I believe by the name of Dr. Henderson. I did not mind the long wait times as Lydia and the other nurse were so very kind, helpful and informative. However the Dr completely aged my cat wrong, gave me little to no information when it's her first ever vet visit and overall was just unpleasant and uninformed. She told me a kitten that is 2 lbs and very little physical activity or playfulness was 12 weeks old. She didn't even try to google she just looked at her and guessed. I primarily brought her in to get dewormed and to be aged so to leave with an age that is absolutely incorrect due to carelessness is disgusting. I signed up for vital care membership bc of Lydia's amazing customer service and was able to save money but I will avoid having dr Henderson see my pets at all costs. How are you unhappy and working with pets ?! With that attitude you should be at a postal office! read more

The cashier who tried hard to help gets a " high five!" Fantastic that they have a Veterinary Clinic on site. The Veterinary Clinic was unable to address the questions-spent 45 minutes without results. In the end they said-oh you have to " order on the website"- It is NOT in stock here!! But one other person a cashier told me and referred me to VetCo in the same store. The runaround and I said it is Prescription medication- Team Members NEVER asked for verification or Veterinarians. In the end the VetCo attendant said-"Try Amazon!"-in same building!!! What are the accolades? My dog did 2 training classes with Ducki trained over the course of 12 weeks. She is extremely knowledgeable and willing to help with all issues. My dog had great success coming out of both the puppy and beginner level classes. You can tell she truly cares about each dog and wants the best for them all. As a whole I really enjoy Petco over the other shops because the folks that I talk to are always very helpful and informative. So far two of my dragons, one beardie and one water dragon (my wife's) were purchased from Petco on Clybourn and have been very healthy and we've been enjoying them ever since we brought them home. My choice to get another beardie was difficult since my last beardie came from another store and didn't last long. So it took some convincing to get another. Ok, enough sad talk, let's go over my review of this particular store. Every time we walk in, and it's frequently; we are greeted with a "Welcome to Petco". While it's not needed, the fact that it's done is nice touch. The place is always nice and organized and we never have to look to hard to find help. Many times, we've been approached to see if we need anything, big plus there. So now you're wondering, "Why only three stars?' Good question. Let's me go over why this is review deemed that many stars. Since my dragons are still young and at that pivotal stage of growth, they need to eat - a lot. While I do give them greens and veggies, I want to ensure that they get the protein that they need that's essential for their growth. While this being my closest store, I always find myself having to go elsewhere for live food. On my last few visits, the spotted roaches are usually all dead and the fridge where the meal worms and wax worms are kept is too warm and they start to pupate which is not good as a feeder. I've also been to the store a few times looking for crickets and out of at least 10 visits. I feel I might have only been able to buy 3 times. Granted weather conditions lately haven't been the best for shipping live insects, but I'm also including visits during better weather conditions. To remedy this, I then drive 5 miles to the Clybourn location and while they don't offer bulk crickets. I always find "To-Go" crickets in stock as well as live insects in the fridge. I do enjoy all the locations that I have visited in the past and I will continue to be a customer, but I am hoping that these little details are addressed so that I and others like me with reptiles and those with amphibians as well can know that food for their "repti-pets" is just a few steps away from home. read more

Ducki is incredible! I met her with my at the time 11 month old beagle who I was having a hard time training. Ducki immediately helped teach me effective ways to interact with him in class and at home for which I have seen an incredible improvement in his overall behavior. She is very hands on and knows how to navigate to the different personalities of each dog in the class. She provides so many effective techniques in which I could see immediate change in both myself and my dog. I have taken 2 different courses with Ducki and truly know my dog and I are better because of her. read more

I cannot stress enough to avoid this location for grooming. The groomers refused to honor or accommodate my appointment that had been changed at the front desk. Despite the managers pleas, the groomers refused to listen or take in my dog, going as far as calling g to verify his vaccine records, even though it was clear his shots were updated. It was tense, disorganized, and utterly disappointing. I decided to leave without more of a stir and reached out to the district manager, Pete Alexopoulous, and he didn't even bother to follow-up. It was clear that the groomers called the shots there and turn away who they want based on their own biases. It was dehumanizing! read more

Typically we'll find ourselves here once to twice a month to restock as needed when we can't seem to hit the free shipping amount off of Chewy. Prices seem to be the same as featured online which is great. Staff is always friendly and you are more than welcome to bring the dogs with you while you shop. We went in the store to get an aquarium to build a terrarium at home and ended up with something totally different. Joanna was able to get talk us into getting a bearded dragon and supplies... and it was so wonderful because it was the perfect gift for my husband who has been wanting another bearded dragon for over 8 years! Joanna explained to us everything that we needed to get for it and how to carefully care for it as well, since it was slightly injured. We purchased a few more items for our dog and we were on our merry way. We have gone to other Petco's closer to our home and we don't get the assistance or even find someone to help like we did here. This is a review for the grooming services. We recently moved to the neighborhood and brought our dog in for a walk-in nail trim. Zen greeted us and was very patient as we looked up our dog's vaccination information to set up a new profile in the Petco system. We weren't sure if our dog needed an anal gland expression but Zen offered to check while doing his nails. Afterwards, she suggested we do nail grinding the next time since our dog has long quicks and even showed us where the quicks on his nails ended. We had some additional questions about the grooming services at Petco and Zen took the time to answer and explain all the details. Our dog is a rescue and he can be skittish with groomers, but he was actually calm around Zen even after the nail trim. A huge thank you to Zen for her time and help! This was the best grooming experience we have ever had and we will definitely be bringing our dogs back! read more

I went to the Vetco that operates out of here to update my dog's vaccinations. The reception area was busy but their receptionist was patient and got me booked in. I showed up for my appointment, was seen promptly and within a half hour I was done. Dr Henderson was polite and professional, didn't try to up sell me any unnecessary products or services. Met Ducki in the store on a rough day and was greeted with her wonderful care and easy to apply knowledge. She was patient and adjusted with me to the different stages and temperment of my puppy. Today I have the most wonderful dog who graduated from puppy 1&2, is well behaved, house broken, super friendly to other dogs and people and a joy to be around! The last visit I went they apparently forgot to something that I had purchased for my pup as an add on.... I had to go back and get it ... This review is for the awesome dog trainer Ducki. We knew when we got our whippet puppy that she was going to be a big handful. Thank goodness we could start her with puppy socials with Ducki. Our pup was super shy at first but over time came out of her shell and was learning how to play with other pups, learning jaw control and just overall socialization, which was absolutely essential to her development. We've been to puppy socials before that were chaotic, but no matter how many pups there were, we always felt like Ducki had a good understanding of the energy in the room and kept an eye on all the puppies so nobody was getting too rowdy. Our puppy also had so so much energy and had such a hard time listening to anything we said. We took training classes with Ducki, and now we can proudly say that she is pretty good with waiting and listening to commands from us. Whenever we have guests over they are always impressed by how our whippet lays down and waits patiently for her food until we say "Okay!" She also had a spot of time in her adolescence where she started being very leash reactive to other dogs, but with advice from Ducki about clicker training, we've made really big strides in that area. Now she is two and we are still training and learning everyday, but Ducki's guidance over time has really helped us to understand each other. To sum it all up, Petco is super lucky to have Ducki! read more

Additionally, we brought our adult puppy (1 year) to training with Judy in her adult 1 class. Judy is a tough, yet serious and caring teacher. This is a review on Vetco Clybourn and Dr Mike. The first visit is free , however due to incompetence and misdiagnosis I had to return more than once. Initially given an ineffective medicine so needed to Uber it back ($20 per Pet Uber). When I told the Vet I was disappointed, he brushed me off and never followed up again. I guess you get what you pay for! I cannot recommend this facility. You're better off with an established experienced Vet or Animal Hospital! read more

She weighs about 4 pounds and I gave her a calming vitamin like a crumb that I had left in my car. You would've thought that I was drugging my dog the way Megan was acting! (blue haired girl.)She was so rude continuously saying that I drugged my dog that, tht I gave her CBD that I cannot have my dogs haircut because they don't allow this at their salon. First of all I don't have to disclose any information on what I give my dog. I'm sure lots of people give things to their scared dogs before arriving there. Never was a briefed on policy or told that I could not give my dog a vitamin that comes her down . Shame on the manager, who didn't come up to speak to me and continue to let this woman humiliate me in front of all the other customers . It was so embarrassing everybody was looking at me because they thought that I was drugging my little 4 pound dog because this is what the blue haired girl kept saying. She the one who's obviously taking drugs because she seem to know a lot about them. Back in the day Petco was my jam, but several years ago I saw the light. In terms of cost, other stores have Petco beat and so now we are simply casual acquaintances. After shopping around online, I stopped at this location to get a new litter pan and some bowls for my two spoiled cats that Petco carried. This is one of two stores closest to my house and now I remember why I frequent the other one; this one kind of sucks. Upon walking in, I noticed how dark the store was. About half of the lights were off, almost like they were running on a backup generator or their A/C was out and they wanted to keep the store cool. If that was the case, no one said anything and was acting like it was normal. I headed to the cat section and immediately noticed how disorganized the aisles were; there were no signs on the end caps telling you what was housed in each aisle, you had to hunt for it. They were out of the litter pan I needed, I didn't even see a label for it. Disappointed, I headed over to the dog section for bowls. After locating the proper aisle, I found what I was looking for, but there were practically no items in the size I wanted and none in the colors I was looking for. While the actual square footage of the store doesn't seem small, the organization is poor. Everything feels cramped or jammed into this store; it feels like a Petco-lite despite have a grooming shop inside of it. While the prices aren't always the best, I don't dislike Petco in general, I just find this store subpar; especially when compared to the Halsted and Orleans locations. I will say this store is great if you've just adopted an animal from PAWS, it's across the street, which makes picking up a few immediate essentials convenient. PS Those pictures on the listing posted by Petco are not for this store. It looks nothing like that. read more

I am SO grateful to Zenfira! She has groomed my almost 14 year old Pomeranian several times and always does an amazing job. He's not an easy groom- he has back issues and arthritis, so she has to be creative about how to get the job done and keep him comfortable. Because he will tell you when he isn't! She takes her time with him and he is always super clean and looks amazing. I waited too long this time between grooms- his IVDD was flaring and he couldn't be brushed much, so he was matted. She kept more length than I was expecting. He looks- and smells- fantastic! They also take dogs who are legally exempt from the rabies vaccine like Parker (with proof from the state!), which I really appreciate!! read more

When I adopted City Dog Maggie a few months ago, PAWS Chicago gave me coupons to shop for the basics right across the street at this store. I had no idea where to start. With the help of the friendly folks at Petco, I found everything I needed to start my adventure as a puppy parent. Mags and I enjoy coming here to explore the goodies and socialize. Usually we leave with some treats or a new toy! Yes, Maggie has a special way of convincing me to spoil her rotten. Although I'm an online shopper when it comes to my pup, Petco is very convenient when I'm in a bind. Grooming services were good, although Maggie is very low maintenance and just needs a good scrub down and nail-clipping. We are proud parents of a eight month old Pomeranian-American named Gracie. A loyal, loving, playful little imp who unfortunately has been allowed to run the household. We noticed that at home she was very outgoing, friendly, extroverted, but again, was the focal point of everyone's attention. When we would attempt to take her for walks, she refused, was skittish, despised anything else with four legs. Prior to signing up for "Puppy Training" we met with Ducki to discuss what was best for Gracie. Ducki was very patient with us, helped us with behavioral questions, nutrition inquiries, even helped us pick out appropriate toys, treats, etc. The day of our first session, Gracie attempted to interrupt our discussions with Ducki as she explained to us what we needed to do to assist Gracie in her learning and training process. Within moments Gracie was clam, not jumping on us for attention or pawing and interrupting our pre-training session. The session went wonderfully. Gracie listened, she was not intimidated by other pets wandering the facility and she grasped the the three concepts that Ducki was posing during this initial session. Ducki spent an extra half hour with us after the session and it only ended because we had to leave. I would strongly urge every new pet owner to visit this location, the employees are helpful, professional and courteous. As far as training, Ducki is just AWESOME. read more

This review is mostly for the grooming department. I have two shih tzus as you can see from my profile pic. I have been bringing both of my boys to this Petco location since I adopted them. I take the boys here once every 2-3 months. I have to say, they look SO great everytime I have taken them here. Alyssa, the manager in grooming, makes sure that your dog is attended to and tends to any requests you have. I've also had the same great experience with Rocky and Tasha, two other groomers there. Nick, the store manager, is a great guy. I recently got my boys groomed but forgot to use a coupon Petco sent me a couple weeks back. Love this PETCO! First and foremost there trainer Judy is amazing! We were signed up for a puppy program that PAWS recommends. It was more expensive and we had had no confidence in the trainer. After meeting Judy and going to a couple weeks of puppy play time (free btw) and leaning more from the sales staff and Judy than we were in our class we got out money back and switched to PETCO. We have learned so much and our puppy is much better behaved. If that wasn't enough, The sales staff is amazing here. They are all pet lovers and really know what they are talking about. You need help, they help you, they don't just point you to "row 2". We have gotten much support from them. They know our puppy Moe by name and are always happy to see him.
