Talar is the best groomer, she has groomed my dog for at least two years. She always does a great job and really cares for my pup.

Let me first start by saying that I love Petco. This location has been great since the moment we took our puppy here when we first adopted him. This review is strictly for the grooming job or grooming hack they did on our puppy,yesterday. He is an Australian Labradoodle and typically gets groomed at VCA Arden. Unfortunately, the last time he went there the groomer said that she was unable to complete the job and did not trim him. He had not been groomed prior to that since July. He got neutered last month so we could not bathe him and he had a partially shaved leg from where the IV was. Because of VCA's grooming hours, we decided to take him elsewhere. Without going into too much detail, a fistfight broke out between the groomer and the manager of the new place after we dropped our puppy off. After 2 hours, the manager called and requested that we pick our puppy up, informed us of the fight, and explained that our puppy was not groomed. I called Petco and they said they could take him later that afternoon. I thought, what a relief. When we arrived, we explained the "trauma" that he'd experienced earlier that day. They were kind and detailed - brought out this chart to better understand how much we wanted cut off, and asked questions about what we wanted. Unfortunately, something got lost in translation. I barely recognized our puppy when we picked him up - and I don't mean that in a good way. His face and tail looked fine but his torso, legs, and paws looked a hot wreck. Not sure if the groomer (Talar) was trying to even him out because of the partially shaved leg but it just wasn't necessary. I could've lived with that and so could our pup. Nothing we can do about it but we definitely won't be going back in the recommended 6-8 weeks. It'll take longer than that for him to look anywhere near normal but I don't trust their judgment if the groomer thought this was a good look. read more

I came here to buy some fish, and no one could help me buy a few guppies. Sad to say, but the employees here just don't care. If you want to buy a fish, you gotta hunt down a Petco employee.. and they are no where to be found. Another time I came, there were too many employees running around the fish area, and telling me to get out of their way and running into me. I feel like people who work here should want to help you with your questions regarding taking care of another living being, or at least LIKE animals. I just don't get that vibe at all here, and I'll be taking my business to a tropical fish specialty store. read more

I've visited this Petco in Burbank and Glendale and I will say the Glendale outlet is a little better when it comes to service. Just don't bother to ask the people at the cashier any pet related questions, most of the time, they would not know how to answer you. read more

I don't understand why this location has so many bad reviews. The people that work here have fallen over each other to help my bf and I. Its actually the location in Pasadena that I'm not exactly fond of! When we fostered a dog awhile back and had to ship him up to Portland, the folks here helped us pick out a top notch crate and prepare everything that we would need to be flight worthy. The girl that helped us was named Anabelle. She was super patient and recommended stuff that we would need to help make our foster dogs move more comfortable. It was also close to closing too, and we desperately needed these items to ship the dog. Instead of trying to rush us out of the store or making us feel unwelcome, she helped us as if we were her own friends. That is one of many great experiences that we have had at this store. The cashiers have always been friendly. Now that my bf and I have a dog of our own, we go here to pick up food and some basics. They also offer dog training classes which I might check out. I've heard some great things about the classes. One of the customers that takes his dog there showed me one of the cutest tricks that he learned in class. He says "Bang!" and then his dog rolls over. Maybe its just me, but I'm a sucker for things like that. I believe the classes last 4-6 weeks and are somewhere around the $100 mark. I was going to take a star off because sometimes the food they sell can be found in other places for slightly cheaper, (Surprisingly Wholefoods! Go figure) but the fact that they have training classes etc. for such nice rates makes up for it. read more

The Petco is in the Fashion Plaza of Glendale. There is a large parking lot. The store has a variety of foods, collars, accessories, as well as fish and birds. I believe they offer training and DNA testing. I mostly go here for the grooming. They can get my dog in last minute for a bath most of the time. It's usually under $25. I can go shopping while I'm waiting. They also have affordable treats for dogs. I bought a huge bone last time I was there for $4. The holiday items are also very cute. read more

Nicole is doing a much better job in grooming Charles, our deaf & blind senior. All matted hair removed, although I would have wanted Charles to have been brushed more thoroughly in his leg and ear areas where he has thicker hair. A bit longer time should be spent brushing so that the longer hair is fluffier and silkier in both looks & touch......like he really came from a spa!. I also find the $7 charge for nail buffing exorbitant. I watch and see how very little time it takes to buff the nail. Just include the service in the $59 package.....thanks! read more

This is a store I walk in and I automatically wish I had a bigger house. I would throw in a fish tank with more fishes and so on. The employees are very helpful. They know their stuff. Ask them anything about any products you see here. They are very clean and have a variety of choices to pick from. The location is nice. I see all kinds of people here come together. read more

MEOWWWW.....meow.... - translation - I first went here when i was a little kitten, and my owner (the crazy lady), thought it would be good idea to bring me into a place where there were lots and lots of big dogs. The mean doggies went crazy, and almost knockeded my owner down - good for me she had pepper spray, cause she squirted them in the face, but some go on mine, so i went crazy and scratcheded her in the boobies. Everything was crazy, dogs crying, my human screaming saying something i have no idea what i was, and me wildly scratching in front of me - me eyes were hot. I never want to go back to Petco again, i just want my fat crazy owner to bring back my food while i stay home and pee on her pillows. read more

Took my pooch here to get groomed. The staff was very friendly and seemed to work well with my puppy. This review is for the actual grooming itself though. My dog came back looking exactly as we brought her. We weren't expecting a makeover but usually after a grooming, we can at least tell she'd been shampooed and combed. She looked and smelled identical. It left us wondering if they'd done anything at all. When we picked her up, they told us our dog had bitten them when they tried to cut her nails. My dog is not a vicious dog, so I'm imagining like any other dog who isn't used to having their nails cut, they might have a safer way to do it. All in all, it wasn't a terrible experience, but just a bit suspect. Maybe a little more effort in the looks department for my doggy would've helped (comb her pretty hair perhaps?) read more

I'm a frequent customer and as of lately I've been having the worst experiences. Customer service is not there. This is also the last time I do a pickup in store order for it is an utter waste of time. I made an online order and went into the store to pick it up. First off it seemed like no one wanted to help me and I kept getting sent to a different person. It was not ready .. so I decide to go back two days later and it took a while to get some help. When I finally got my order I realized there where a few items missing so I told the associate who then told me the items where short. I don't see how they where short on the items I ordered when I myself went to check the shelves and they where fully stocked with what was claimed to be " out of stock" I didn't even bother saying anything and going through the whole process again. This is ridiculous whoever is picking these items is obviously too lazy to get pick up in store requests done. I'm a customer and I had no problem finding these items. I didn't even get a final receipt or email to confirm anything. If I'm going t be having these issues id rather shop on amazon where there's less mistakes, less overall attitude and less hassle. I don't even understand why pick up In store would be an option when it is this much of a mess. read more

The nice thing about Petco is that they have a little something for all your furry and scaly friends. At one point, we were caring for a cat, rabbit, goldfish, and red-eared slider turtles, and we were able to buy all our supplies at one go. We were at Petco again yesterday to buy some more food and supplies for our cat and rabbit. We took a detour to the live fish section and were horrified by what we saw: at least half a dozen poor dead angel fish lying dead at the bottom, with just a lone survivor flitting about. Obviously, the staff at Petco aren't doing such a great job caring for their live merchandise. It just left a bad feeling, and I don't feel like going back. read more

So I came to this Petco just to browse. I was thinking the usual thing people think looking for fish at a Petco. This is gonna be pretty bad so prepare yourself. But i was pleseantly surprised. All the tanks looked very clean with lots of happy fish swimming around. I overheard the main guy in the department trying to talk someone out of overstocking his aquarium. It was like they actually cared about the animals. Fantastic! I talked to him directly after and he was very knowledgable and friendly. Had a good answer to all of my questions. I left the store with a different opinion of Petco. It want from a place that I was scared to buy fish from for worry that it would kill my other fish to a place i think I can feel confident about. read more

I recently moved to the area and took my dog Kovu to get groomed at this location. Easily the best experience we've had at Petco grooming. Breanna was SO SO SO amazing!!! The second I dropped him off I felt very comfortable leaving him and she was so sweet and gentle with him. He is very skiddish and can be kind of a pain to groom because of it but he seemed to happy afterwards and even gave her an extra sniff before we left (usually he just bolts lol). Super super happy with our experience with Breanna, he'll definitely be going back! read more

I went to have my dog's nails trimmed here today. When my puppy came out, only the back paws nails were trimmed. The front are still super long. And they still charged me full. They said that cause my dog was uncomfortable with the nail trim and she kept crying and didnt like it thats why they couldnt do the front paws. The first time i brought my dog there for nail trim it was superb, thats why i went again for her second. But this experience was not pleasant. Now my puppy still has sharp long front paw nails. read more

DON'T BUY FISHES FROM PETCO OR MAYBE THIS PARTICULAR BRANCH!!!! The only good thing that has come from this store is my Calico Goldfish that I bought 3 years ago this coming Father's Day. About a month ago, I bought 2 more fishes (Black Moor & a s/m size Calico Goldfish). I came straight home and took the necessary measures to introduce the new fishes to the tank. Within a week, my 3 year old fish had developed Anchor Worms -this is a parasite that is extremely rare in aquarium fish. It must be brought in by an infected fish. I lost the two most recent fishes that I bought from there and I have my old fish in quarantine. So I decided to go back to this store and speak to a manager and explain how the recent fishes that I bought were infected and as a result, infected my fish. There was no sign of empathy or even being apologetic. I was just instructed to get medication to treat my fish. I definitely want some type of compensation for my time and money trying to medicate my fish that I've had for 3 years, specially learning that anchor worms are rare in a aquarium, specially that I've had mine for 3 years now. While writing this review, I see another persons review on the side of the web page that had the same problem as I did. Apparently they blamed her for having that disease in their tank originally. HEY PETCO, NEWS FLASH, IF YOU WANT TO RETAIN CUSTOMERS AND EARN THEIR BUSINESS, IT SHOULD TAKE MORE THAN JUST PUSHING A CUSTOMER WITH ANOTHER PRODUCT. EDUCATE YOUR STAFF TO BE MORE SINCERE. Recently moved to this area with no major Franchise to look to other than this Petco. I never had anything against Petco so I took my dog here for a bath. Avo gave my dog a Bath and Brush, I have been a dog bather before, yet I didn't mention anything about that, didn't want to pressure anyone. Anyway, after everything was done, I inspected my dog after I got home, and everything was perfect, it would of been the same exact care and love I would of given my dog if I were to bathe him. Overall, everything was beyond my expectation, I was impressed with the professional service and patience with me as a new customer. I feel very disapointed about the grooming at this petco, I took my Husky Roxy for a Bath+shed release treatment today, I regret every second of it from the moment I booked the appointment, I use to take her to The La Cañada petco and their service is awesome and since it's the same company I thought what could go wrong? Well let me tell you, I paid $60 for a bath + shed, for starters she wasn't all dry at all, and a wet dog smells like a wet dog no matter what you do, that is the main reason I go to the groomer instead of giving her a bath my self, and second, there was no shed treatment at all, I mean, huskies shed a lot and for that reason I always pay for the service, they did nothing, my poor Roxy is still shedding the same amount as she was before "the treatment" which has never happen before, usually she is almost shed free for at least 2 weeks after treatment, today is a different story, I got charged $20 for nothing, never going there again, I'd rather wait the insane amount of time that takes to go to the other petco, appointments are weeks apart but is well worth the wait. People beware, this place is not any good for your dogs... read more

I've been coming to this location for about 2 years. This is the only place where my dog feel comfortable for grooming and its because of Talar... she is very nice and she knows her job perfectly. Ive been bringing my German shepherd "KC" here for almost 1 yr now and we only go with her Favorite groomer Talar! Not only is KC hard to deal with but, Talar is the sweetest and most patient groomer ever! KC doesn't get along with everyone but Talar has a special talent that KC is just in love with her! I only take KC with her and she just leaves KC shiny from head to tail! I definitely recommend going and requesting Talar because she will definitely make your doggy happy! I have too many words to describe Talar talents to list, and i am very thankful to have found a great groomer and KC's best friend ! Thank you for all you do Talar!!!!! read more

While all the staff at the Glendale Petco have always been helpful, this review is mainly for the groomer, Talar. She is so kind and patient with our dog and she makes it easy to trust her. Since LoP's closed down, we have no choice. Much as I'd love to drive to Red Barn, for one bag of dog food, sometimes the math doesn't agree. Make sure to look for specials also, and bring your coupons! Park downstairs if you want to avoid the madness of weekend shoppers upstairs. Don't ask anyone for anything, except for Ernest (bless him - he's been there for over ten years!). They won't know, can't find it or will just be generally useless. The 10 bags is also kind of a hit or miss. We buy the big bags all the time, but have a small dog, so we don't consume it that fast. So we never hit 10 bags in a year. I'm not going to buy the smaller bag, with a higher unit cost, just to get the free, but it's just frustrating to ALMOST make it every year, and then not. Personally, I wouldn't take my pet for grooming here. But that's just me. Overall, this Petco has changed a lot over the years. It used to be a lot more focused on the actual quality of the animals and presentation. Pedigree used to be in the back corner, because the manager didn't believe that Petco should even sell it ("Doritos for Dogs") ... but now, it's in the regular aisles! Nutro has been pushed back and Science Diet/Eukanuba have been moved forward. If only it'd go back to the way it was managed/run in the mid-2000's! read more
