First things first. Entrance to this dump was flooded with 6-12 inches of water and you had to drive through it to get to the store. The parking lot has no painted lines in it so you just park wherever you decide to stop your car in the parking lot I guess. Park? Yeah if you can make it through the maze of bottomless potholes and uneven paving in this dumps parking lot. The manager here is a total **** and for that alone I will never shop here. I pretty much walked around the store trying to find something for 20 minutes and not a single person bothered asking me if I needed some assistance. I bought one thing I needed from the store and went to check-out. This is where the true interrogation starts. Do you have a P.A.L.S. Card? (you mean the electronic shopping tracker that you use to watch peoples shopping habits for free market research?) no I sure dont. Do you want to sign up for a PALS card? (no I dont) Are you sure? You would save X amount today off your purchase (Please refer to my previous response). Would you like to donate a meal to a animal in need? (no I came here in a time crunch and you are really pushing it now). Would you like to round your purchase up for X local charity? (OMG you really didnt just ask me 5 questions during my checkout in the hopes of getting more money out of me?) and finally I was shown how I could do a survey about my experience in the store (more free secret shopper market research for the company) and then was showed how to do it. My checkout experience with one single item should not take 15 minutes. Hell it shouldn't take 5 minutes. I think she also asked for my zip code at some point in the conversation as well. I have hated PETCO for a long time now, but this just seals the deal for me and gives me additional affirmations as to why I have stayed away for the past 8 years. I won't be back. read more

This Petco seriously blows. I own 7 snakes. I live about an hour and a half away from this place, and it's the nearest pet store that sells frozen mice (as far as I know). Every. Single. Time. I have come here, they have not had what I needed for my snakes. I feed them frozen mice and now that I live so remote I need to buy sort of in bulk (meaning I try to buy two rounds of food each time I go to minimize trips. It's not always possible for me to get out there so when I can, it's really important that I am able to get necessary supplies. I feed my snakes Fuzzies and Adult Mice (frozen). I've never been able to get what I need from this store and often have to buy a ton of pinky mice (assuming they even have any) and just feed those to the snakes in multiples. This place never EVER has a decent selection which is really weird since it's a chain, and other Petco's I've gone to have totally had a fully stocked reptile fridge to choose from. Yesterday when I went the freezer was just completely empty. How silly of me to think they'd keep their freezer stocked, right? It's not like it's a huge inconvenience to drive all the way out there for nothing. I guess I should have called. Still, they should have their stuff stocked. I'm done with this store. The staff are friendly but the place is unorganized, and never has what I need. Not many people give a crap about reptiles but I have 7 that need to eat every week and I've wasted too much time and gas going to this place for literally nothing. Thankfully there is a PetSmart just a bit further up the road that I found has a nicely stocked Reptile area and I'll be taking my business there from now on. I purchased a cleaner fish to go with my goldfish. It dies within a week and my goldfish gets sick with ick! I go back and tell them and ask what will kill it and they gave me an herbal medicine for it and that had no effect. I go to petsmart and they were way more knowledgeable and they gave me a ick treatment that cured ick in days. Petco sold me a sick fish and they didn't fix it. read more

I have been taking my Cocker Spaniel Gussie to Nikki at the Gresham Oregon Petco for years and we love her!!! She does an excellent job with my diva dog. We were helped by the manager, Susan today and she was so great. We had a ton of questions about training for our dog we adopted from Oregon Humane Society and she answered all of them. I had the worst experience last month with the floor manager, Susan. My partner and I stopped by to get a beginner level goldfish to start working towards eventually getting an aquarium. We gathered all of the supplies needed: appropriate gallon tank, water purifier, food, plants, rocks, filter, light, and a hiding cave. We set our pile down near the fish wall and picked out our $2.99 beginner level goldfish. There was no one in the area, so we requested help at the register. Susan walks up and we told her we would like to purchase a goldfish. She glanced at our pile and snapped "YOU HAVE TO LET THE TANK RUN FOR THREE DAYS AT 70 DEGREES. YOU'RE NOT READY FOR A TROPICAL FISH" and went on to refuse our service request. We stopped her rambling and explained that we just wanted a simple goldfish and pointed at the one we chose. She then said explained that all of the things we had in our pile were "incorrect and would kill our fish". We said thank you for the input and requested that she bag our fish for us. When bagging the fish, she told us that the one we chose wasn't a good one, but we insisted and understood the return policy if it didn't work out. She bagged the fish and then proceeded to tell us "You're going to kill your fish. You don't know how to take care of a fish". At this point, I stopped her, asked for her name, went to the register and asked if there was a supervisor I could speak to. It was Susan. I came back to the fish area and Susan rudely and loudly exclaimed "DO YOU WANT THE FISH OR NOT". To which I told her that this was the worst customer service I have ever experienced and ran out of the store crying. I work as a high manager at a retail store and I know that this behavior is unacceptable. If she thought we were doing something wrong (even though we did our research), she should have suggested help. Picking out a pet is supposed to be a special experience and my hopes were crushed. Seeing other reviewers on Yelp, Susan seems to be a recurring issue and it's about time that she is reprimanded for her attitude and poor actions. All over a $2.99 beginner level goldfish. read more

me and my boyfriend came to petco the other day interested in buying a hamster. we had someone come help us out. her name was "susan" based on other reviews, many people feel the same way about her that we do. she was extremely rude the minute she came over to help us. she continued to ask my boyfriend multiple times if he was 18 and doubting his age. she repeated to us that we can bring the hamster back at any time. we had a few questions about what we needed to buy for our hamster and she responded with a rude tone. we also were looking into buying a goldfish and she laughed and said "do you guys even have a tank set up?" instead of being nice and friendly she was completely rude. she should not work in customer service whatsoever. we came back the next day to look at getting another hamster. she told us we couldn't keep it in the same cage as the one we already have and my boyfriend told her that we could keep the new hamster in a separate cage. she didn't say anything but she continued to stare at us while we were looking at the hamsters. my boyfriend finally said "you can go, we will let you know if we need anything" we ended up leaving the store without a new hamster. susan is a TERRIBLE manager and needs to be fired asap. read more

I went here to buy my small dog a bone to chew on. For the last 6 months I have been looking for some small rib bones and they have constantly been out. I ended up buying some cat food instead and went to ring up. The guy asked me if I found everything ok and I said no they didn't have any small bones for dogs. He said they were probably just out. I informed him they have been "out" of them for the last 6 months. His response was flat and uncaring " I don't stock the shelves I just run the register." How useless! I cannot believe that this is what customer service has been boiled down too! So frustrating and I will not shop here anymore. read more

I LOVE this store. I have gone to others (And the people are always super nice) but, this one is more "small town feel". I love tina!! She goes out of her way to be helpful and kind. I have seen her smile and be very kind to a "Customer" who was being very harsh, and even swearing at her. A couple of yeras ago I went thru chemo and tina ALWAYS made sure that I had help. Since we have 4 dogs it is alwaqys large bags and lots of it!!! everyone else is very helpful too. I have been coming here for years and will continue to do so. read more
