Ever wonder if those snakes and lizards escape from their glass homes? Well they do. Today while shopping in my not so favorite store I encountered a snake on the item I wanted to purchase. Awesome customer service, mostly friendly employees, and whoever does orders for the animals there is awesome! Sometimes there is a kinda condescending aquatics specialist but that's common in pet stores nowadays. Other aquatics specialists who've helped me are very friendly, informative (not in an in-your-face way), and make good conversation which is always a plus! I guess it is because they may be a little understaffed but crickets take a very long time for a small amount but overall, very happy to come here and will drive out the extra 10 minutes to go here instead of the one closer to me when it comes to getting a new pet read more

Very friendly staff. I went in a few weeks ago and bought a hamster. The staff that day were very helpful and took time to guide me in the right direction for everything I'd need for the little guy. Fast forward to today and I've realized that this hamster doesn't fit into my busy lifestyle and I thought he'd be better off living with someone who would play with him. So I decided to ask if I could return him. Jeremy, the manager on duty, was incredibly friendly and efficient. I have seen the poor reviews of this store and thought surely people simply had one poor experience and wrote it off because I have always spoke with wonderful employees. However, over the last 2 weeks I have had multiple bad experiences. I consider myself a fairly novice fish owner and hope to receive service from those that have more information/education than I do. I received incorrect information about how many fish it is fair/safe/healthy to keep in a tank ("1 fish per gallon" to which I found the correct ratio is 1 inch of fish per gallon). I bought 4 fish for my 3 gallon tank from this person and when asked about adding a couple more was encouraged to let these ones settle and then come back and pick up the other two. It wasn't until I saw the 4 in my tank that I started to question what I was told. They simply looked crowded to me. I did research and spoke with more knowledgeable associates and realized this individuals mistake. I returned the bigger fish and kept 3 small fish, still pushing the rules, I know. However after having 1 of the fish for a few days, it unfortunately passed away. I tested my water and looked at the other fish. All was fine. I brought the dead fish back to the store and was told I needed my original receipt and/or a sample of my water, which I had not been informed of originally. I asked them to look up my purchase via my petco card number. Begrudgingly, Anthony did so after making a few exasperated sounds and walking swiftly away from me while I was mid-sentence. When he came back he inquired about my recent "Many fish purchases". When I explained the situation, I told him I had brought two of the black mollies back. He asked, "as a return or were they dead too?" No, they were simply too big for my tank. After a few more (implied judging included) exchanges, I simply asked for my money back for the fish. He told me he couldn't do it without my original receipt, I asked why when he had the printouts of my purchases in his hand. He said something about company policy. I explained that I was a little frustrated about all of the incorrect information I had been receiving and, once again, mid-sentence, Anthony walked off and said, "let's just do it....i could lose my job but whatever...on to greener pastures right" all while stalking off ahead of me. At this point I didn't even care about the $1.99 for the fish but with Anthony's unprofessional behavior and treatment of a customer, I was hell bent on getting something in return. As he grumbled through the return, I stayed quiet, accepted my receipt and said to him, "I'm sorry you're having such a bad day. I hope it gets better. Thanks." And left while concurrently deciding that this will be the last time I step foot in this Petco. read more

The ferrets at this location have diarrhea and it is all over their cage! Even the glass! Dehydration much? And an Extremely dirty cage that looks like it hasn't been cleaned in weeks. I asked a male employee who cleans the ferrets cage because you could smell it when you walked right into the store (ferrets cage is on the left all the way in the back) he said the night shift cleans the cage. Ok well Pretty sure they don't clean every night or at all because that ferret cage was so foul! I told him they need to clean it and put fresh water in there because one of them kept pooping yellow every two seconds and looked lethargic! He said ok I'll let them know. ALWAYS have great service at this location. I am in the store about every two weeks as we have a leopard gecko that needs live crickets and meal worms. Staff is always quick, polite, attentive and friendly. I really couldn't be more pleased. We also get our dog groomed here (Australian Shepherd) about every other month and again, super pleased with the results. Kendra is fantastic. She truly cares for animals and is thoughtful and very welcoming. My dog does not like having his haircut, but she always makes the transition into the salon calm and inviting for him. She always asks when she brings him out if there is anything that needs to be touched up and there never is, she always does an incredible job. read more

I love this place! They really do care about the animals and putting pets first. The staff is very knowledgeable and passionate about animals. I was very impressed by the fact that they will not sell animals to people if they are not confident that they will be treated well and cared for properly. I'm sure this upsets some customers but I see it as proof that Petco really does put animal welfare before their bottom line. I will do all my pet shopping here from now on! read more

I'm done with Petco. Their grooming department is absolutely the worst. The women who work there have minimal social skills, and I never know what I'm going to come back to when I take my labradoodle there for a haircut. I give places a few chances - could have been a bad day, or whatever. Today was their last chance. I called to see if they happen to have an opening for a last minute bath and haircut (you know, someone might have cancelled!) and the girl who answered the phone was SO. RUDE. So, I'm just done. I'm not a fan of this Petco location. They have a pretty limited selection of everything and the clerk I asked a question made me knock off another star. When I asked him if he had a pee post (I did not make this item up) he looked at me like I was crazy and just said he didn't know what that even was and that they didn't have any. He didn't ask me to explain to him that it's a potty training device, that PetSmart carries them and just happened to be sold out, or even ask if he could help me find some other sort of potty training aid that they might carry. Of course, it didn't help Petco's cause at all that the employees there on that particular day looked like they were on work-release but I digress... read more

I don't know why the grooming salon is getting bad reviews, its surprising. Compared to other places, they are awesome. I've taken my schoondle to different salons in Washington and they always make my pup look horrible. When I took my pup to this petco and told them how I want him cut, they were very attentive and helpful. They definitely know what they are doing and explained the names of the type of cuts I want and the length. They really wanted to make sure they were cutting my dog the way I want, which is important. When I picked up my dog, he looked better than ever. They cut him exactly the way I wanted. They told me they put notes in my account with instructions on how i want him groomed for when i bring him back and in case I needed to take him to a different Petco- which I did take him to a different petco and i explained to them how i want him cut and they said they have the notes from before BUT he still didn't come out looking nearly as good as when I took him to the issaquah petco. I will never take him anywhere else! All of the people in this store are great! read more

I am not a fan. To make it short and sweet. The space seems dingy and dirt and old. The selection is limited. Last and most important: the staff is rude and unhelpful. It's a close location to us and I have to go there - as they are the only carrier of my dog's food. So I have MANY lovely stories. My advice, skip it. read more

I had my very matted long haired Heinz 57 rescue dog groomed there twice last year by Joan. She did a fantastic job. I like his hair longer so I didn't have him groomed again until last week because the heat is so intense, and he needed a good bath anyway. However, Joan has is no longer with that store and so I put my trust in Noel who, instead of cutting back his hair, shaved him within an inch of his life, including his fanned tail. But what really pissed me off is that he is a white dog and gets those tear stains. Last year it was so bad I though his eyes were bleeding and took him to the vet and she explained what it was. Joan, last year, had no issue whatsoever cleaning them up. Because Noel looked at the computer and asked if I wanted him groomed the same way as last year, I made the stupid assumption she would do what was done last year. When I called to complain (I was to shocked at his appearance--he doesn't even look like the same dog and it's taken him 2 days to act like his normal, energetic self) she told me there was nothing she could do, even though I explained to her that last year, yes, the stains were worse but miraculously cleaned up. She was rather rude to me but I admit I lost it with her and was rude also. Unfortunately I paid with a debit card. Never again. If I used a CC I would haggle over the charges. We recently took our labradoodle puppy, Tucker, to petco for his first grooming. We were a bit nervous because we wanted him cut a specific way, and because he had never been to the groomer. He came out looking very handsome, cut just how we wanted. They also did a great job cutting his nails, which he hates having done. The staff were very friendly and loved Tucker! This review is only for the grooming department. We typically have our dog groomed by a mobile groomer but unfortunately, he did not renew his permit for our town :(. Our dog has overactive anal glands and needs to have them expressed on a pretty regular basis. I called around one weekend trying to find a groomer to take her and PetCo had availability that day. When we walked in, I should have known that it was really no good. The whole attitude is just very 'blah'. I don't expect a parade when I walk in but one woman was grooming a dog and a teenager. The groomer seemed to be aggravated with the dog that she was grooming. He was a very large puppy and he moved around a lot and she was obviously getting frustrated. Made me a little nervous because my pup also doesn't like to sit still much but we tried it anyway. The teen checked us in. I thought she perhaps just worked the front desk because she seemed pretty new. I gave them my cell number to call because we'd planned to do some shopping in the area and we left. The told us about an hour. We hung out for a while...waiting for the call, no call so we headed home only to discover that they left a message at the house (which I found a little annoying). But that's not why I gave them such a low rating. When I called AND when I arrived, I asked them to tend to her anal glands as they smelled and she was licking and seemed irritated. I brought it up SEVERAL times. About a week after the grooming she was biting again and the horrible smell returned. About two weeks after her appointment, I finally tracked down her old groomer and we asked him to express her. He told her that she had a TON of liquid in her anal glands and there was no way they'd actually done it. I believe him. When he groomers her, she's pretty good for about a month. I was very disappointed. I wanted ONE primary thing done for my dogs comfort and they couldn't do that. I have a sneaking suspicion that the teen groomed our dog. She was nice and clean, but her glands hadn't been expressed at all. I'd rather pay more for someone whose more attentive. read more
