I absolutely love Keiko Swanberg; she is a highly experienced and incredibly positive certified trainer. Her teaching style makes a world of difference, and the progress seen in the classes is a testament to her expertise! However, the facility itself leaves much to be desired. The space is consistently dirty and unkempt. There is a very noticeable smell, and dog hair accumulates heavily in all the corners and along the edges of the room. It is disappointing to have such a high-quality trainer working in an environment that feels so neglected. I hope the management prioritizes a deep clean soon to match the caliber of their instructors.

Indie requires some extra attention and care due to some injuries and food sensitivities, and when Carolyn and Kim were there- she definitely received all the love and attention! Indie knows Jason very well and enjoys his company, and I believe she is slowly warming up to some of the newer staff (she is a particular pup.) Indie always comes back exhausted from camp, and we always love seeing photos of he on her walks, or playing games, or, her favorite, getting pup cups! The team at Jax, especially the Companion Camp have always been informative and caring and we know that Indie is in good hands here, when there were days her arthritis was acting up, the Jax team was quick to contact us, and let us know how she was doing so we could determine if she should just rest, or if we should come get her. She also wears a brace (for her arthritis) when she is active- so Jax has been very understanding in learning how to put it on her, and when it should be used. We have also given her a bath in their facilities (wish it was open on weekends but understand that requires additional staffing) We are currently taking our 2nd class on K9 Nosework with Austin on the weekends - and she loves it! We have had positive experiences at Jax and truly appreciate all of the folks that look after her when she is in their care.

Victory and I went from the puppy struggles of her crying relentlessly in her crate to me now being able to be in the same room while she's in her crate and not crying. She responded with a standard pitch detailing her credentials and a premium rate of $200/hour, claiming she trains dogs "in a different way" than others. Naturally, before investing that kind of money and inviting someone into my home, I politely asked if she had any short video clips of her training style so I could understand her methodology. Her response was incredibly curt and defensive: "No i dont have social media you are requesting. My training is very personal and not media income for me." I didn't care about social media; I cared about understanding her teaching style. Because finding a trainer is about compatibility and trust, I actually went out of my way to apologize for any misunderstanding and asked if she could point me to any online video of any trainer with a similar style, just so I could get a rough idea of what to expect. Instead of a professional response (like suggesting client references or pointing to her Yelp reviews), she completely shut down the conversation: "I have provided the information I provide to all my clients. It seems we will not be a good fit." Nikki expects clients to blindly commit to a $200/hour rate with zero visual proof or demonstration of her "unique" methodology. When asked basic, polite questions to ensure a good fit, she met me with defensiveness, a complete lack of flexibility, and a curt dismissal. If a trainer is this defensive and difficult to communicate with before you even hire them, imagine how stressful it would be to work with them. There are plenty of highly qualified trainers who welcome questions and treat prospective clients with respect--IMO go to them instead. I've attached our communication as proof.

Just like any other PetSmart store, I ever visited. The really kind saleswoman, Amanda, was very helpful as we discussed the best way to get a hair mat out of a cat. My poor guy has several hair mats, and he can become spicy when attempting to groom. I purchased some calming treats and a grooming glove for my hand. Amanda suggested some treats to calm him down so I would be able to groom him. Time will tell. The parking lot had a security speaker loudly announcing to watch out and lock your car and don't leave valuables in it. Like a really loud announcement in the parking lot. Sort of leads me to think this parking lot can be dangerous. (?) Will I come back here? Yes. Probably if I needed something specific and didn't want to wait for a Chewy delivery. SYOY.

Unfortunately a lot of trainers use aversives, especially with large strong dogs. We were so excited to find Julia, and after our meet & greet we were confident she was a good choice. Julia did a 2 week board & train with our dog while we were traveling, mainly focusing on leash skills and practicing calm behavior around exciting things. We noticed an immediate improvement, but have also been continuing to work on the training at home after our follow up. I'm happy to report that we are continuing to see improvement using Julia's methods.

He was good around other dogs in the home, but as soon as we were in public, he would lung and try to attack other dogs. It was not only stressful, but also embarrassing! I decided to hire Tom for 4 sessions and see if my pup Murphy still needed additional help. I also opted to meet Tom at his property in Renton instead of my home as he owns several large, high performance breeds and I wanted my dog to have exposure to them. I immediately started to notice a change in Murphy after our first visit. Tom offered practical, easy to use tools and commands, and showed me how to consistently implement them. He is an excellent teacher, flexible to work with, and his methods are very effective. He gave me confidence in my abilities to train my dog, and the desire to want to continue with individual training at home and outside the home.
