Thank you Eddie. Zoey always looks gorgeous and is happy after her grooming by you. I appreciate your kindness and how gentle you are with her. My little Zoey is fearful and delicate and I've had bad experiences at other groomers. Eddie @ Petco is awesome.

I came in today for the first time at this location to pick up a bag of dried kibble for one of my clients. She had paid for it online and all I had to do was pick it up. The young lady that helped me was very courteous and helpful! The store is clean and well organized! Parking was easy to find and there was plenty of it on a busy Saturday. Thank you Petco!

(Shopped 09/20/20 SA, 10/26/20 MO, and 03/08/21 MO): Pets were part of the family, too! With the recent addition of my roommate's puppy, I felt it only fair that my mom's dog got some extra love as well, so on several occasions I stopped at the La Canada Flintridge Petco location only minutes from where I grew up. As pets have solidified their real acceptance as being a family member, businesses that cater to our furry friends and beyond have been doing gangbuster business especially during these COVID-19 times (I certainly fell into the latter example). Would I continue to shop at this location due to proximity or make the Glendale location my true pet palace!? PURCHASE Duck Face And Monkey Face Dog Chew Toys (2/$5.00): These were cute, squeaked, had a durable rope handle, and very inexpensive - it was a win-win for both human and pet https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=DgqRoKyxgtwNKJE0DnlyJQ&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw! Zuke's Mini Salmon Treats, Cow Face And Dog Face Chew Toys, Penguin Chew Toy, Easy In Dog Harness ($6.99 + 2/$5.00 + $9.99 + $26.99): The treats were perfect to try and train my mom's older dog and acted as a simple snack; more inexpensive chewing and squeaking fun for the furry "princess", the penguin was my personal favorite and thought about keeping it for myself; and, the harness was a much better apparatus for walking and supplied more control - another wonderful purchase https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=TsK3YsDwqb5eQ0jHmAwLDg&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw! Natural Balance Limited Ingredients Diet Wet Canned Dog Food ($2.99ea.): Sadly, Princess needed some weight management and her normal brand was sold out so these options were the next best thing - so far she loved each flavor https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=ey48lbYipyRkZXdEUsB1qA&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw! SERVICE Due to the mandated social distancing to slow the spread of COVID-19 during Coronavirus 2020-2021, they required worn face masks, limited shoppers, and encouraged online orders for easy pick-up or even delivery. The full staff were courteous, helpful, and efficient during each visit. Thankfully, I knew where everything was, so I didn't need much assistance except at the checkout - all was fine! PARKING (FREE) Located in a small outdoor strip mall, they shared a medium-sized parking lot with several businesses such as Union Bank, Trader Joe's, a health clinic, and a Starbucks. Unfortunately, there was minimal street parking along the main drag of Foothill Blvd. and major cross-street Gould Ave. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A quaint medium-sized store that housed aisles and rows of products for nearly all conceivable pets (mainly cats and dogs). From cages, clothes, foods, to toys, and more, they had it all or available to order online. Plus, they had their well-known grooming service which took a back section. Decent natural lighting came through the front large glass windows and sliding doors while bright electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. There were no TVs, but music played in the background. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL Although Petco's La Canada Flintridge location was closest to my mom's house, I preferred the overall size, inventory, and more knowledgeable customer service at the Glendale location. Honestly, I would've bought more if they had the inventory and an easier parking situation (frankly, Trader Joe's was the main draw here and most spots were taken by their customers). And, if you joined their free membership, you earned random promotional deals and discounts as you spent money. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $45.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS

    Botched haircut

I've taken my dog to Petco several times for grooming and have never gotten a call saying they can't complete her service because she was nipping. I asked them to keep her hair long on top and cut under her under belly, legs and fanny. They obviously chopped her beautiful coat on top. Total disaster and I'm so disappointed. I will never be back.

Shaving Cut & bleed The groomer recommended a puppy cut to get rid of my dog's matted hair. She seemed very knowledgeable and nice so I agreed with her proposal. She asked me to sign a waiver haphazardly. She did not explain in detail nor provide a copy for me. We didn't notice the cut until the next day and we were shocked. We called customer service to report the incident. When the grooming manager called. He showed no empathy and blamed us for his matted hair as the cause of the injury. We will not come here again.

We had tried what felt like everything and his separation anxiety was so bad that it got to the point that my partner and I basically gave up our social lives, had to coordinate with one another one of us would be going to the market or if it would be a trip where we both can go but someone sits in the car with our dog. We met the team at K9 Logic Dog Training and they assessed our dog and determined what kind of training program would be best for him to address his separation anxiety and the other skills we wanted to work on. Within a week we noticed progress. We finally were able to leave the house for an hour and go to the market together. Week by week the time has gradually gotten longer where we have been able to leave him alone for longer periods of time to reclaim our social life back. I was skeptical at first, but after that first week I became a believer. We are so happy with the results that for the purpose of just giving him structure and routine we signed him up for more classes and he LOVES being at school. We've also participated in the weekend group training sessions and they are so helpful to not only give our dog routine, but it's a great way to reinforce structure and keep him sharp with everything he learned at school. Signing up for training with K9 Logic Dog Training was the best decision we could made for our dog to set him up for success.

Our dog, Comet, struggled with leash reactivity after a bad encounter, and walks had become really stressful. This program made a huge difference! Comet spent one full day a week at the facility, and we worked on reinforcing everything at home in between sessions. We worked with Shea, who was amazing, knowledgeable, supportive, and great at explaining how to handle Comet's reactivity. The 30-minute sessions at pickup were especially helpful and really built our confidence. The pricing felt very reasonable for the value, and we also love the community they've created. Comet has made major progress, and we're excited to keep building on everything she's learned!

We became prisoners in our own home. We either had to take him everywhere with us or have one of us stay behind. It became a huge burden, and we found ourselves scheduling our entire lives around our dog. We decided to work with Dawit, and little by little, things started to improve. When we got Cooper back from training, he was like a completely different dog. He no longer pulled on the leash, was not reactive when he saw other dogs, his recall was amazing, and many of our typical worries disappeared. However, the separation anxiety still persisted. This is where Dawit truly deserves recognition. He never gave up on us or on Cooper. Our training journey probably lasted longer than most because of how severe Cooper's anxiety was, but Dawit went far beyond the typical follow-ups. Over the course of several months, the training sessions, check-ins, texts/videos, communication, and home visits finally paid off. There were times when I genuinely thought we'd never be able to return to a normal life, but our consistency combined with Dawit's continued support and new techniques made all the difference. Cooper can now stay home alone in his crate without issues. That being said, training only works if you put in the effort. We followed through with everything Dawit recommended, even when it was difficult or when we didn't see immediate results. It's easy to fall back into old habits or give up when progress feels slow, but perseverance truly pays off. Side note: Dawit is just an all-around great person who genuinely cares about what he does. Our dog absolutely adores him. We also love the boarding services he offers -- especially because Cooper comes home exercised and happy. Another huge plus is that Cooper is now off-leash certified, and we fully trust him to make good decisions. Yes, it can be costly, but it's an investment and honestly, I don't know another dog as well‑behaved as ours. I'm incredibly proud of the work it took to get here.

Greyson was reactive, and even the jingle of another dog's collar or hearing a bark would immediately set him off. Walks and outings were stressful because I was constantly worried about how he would react. From the very beginning, Emily was patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in helping both of us succeed. Greyson has completed private training sessions and a board and train with Emily and her team, and the progress has been incredible. One of the biggest improvements has been in his reactivity. Since working with Emily, he has become much more focused, calmer, and better able to work through situations that would have previously triggered a reaction. Not only has his reactivity improved, but his obedience, confidence, and overall behavior have as well. What I liked most was that Emily didn't just work with Greyson. She also took the time to explain things to us and show us how to continue the training at home. What I appreciated most was that Emily was honest about the process. She didn't promise overnight results or a quick fix. Instead, she gave us a clear plan, realistic expectations, and the tools we needed to continue helping Greyson succeed. She was always available to answer questions and support us throughout the process. It's clear that Emily and her team genuinely care about the dogs they work with and want both the dogs and their owners to be successful. As a dog owner, there is no better feeling than knowing your dog is in good hands, and I completely trust Emily and her team with Greyson. The amount of dedication, knowledge, and care they put into their work is amazing. We are beyond grateful for everything they have done for Greyson and our family. If you're looking for a trainer who truly cares, takes the time to understand your dog, and delivers real results, I highly recommend Emily's K9 Training. Working with Emily and her team has been one of the best investments we've made for Greyson, and we look forward to continuing our training journey with them.

The Team is knowledgeable, professional, communicative, helpful, always training-session timely - all around terrific. We searched for just the right trainer for Winston - and that for sure is Emily's K9 Training. He is a sweet lab but we totally could not walk with him. That was a huge concern because Henry would run after squirrels, other dogs - on our walks. So we wanted to be sure Winston would listen, and mind our commands while out and about. Emily trained Winston (and us) so perfectly. We love taking him on walks now - and he has faced some hugely distracting situations - completely busy park settings with people, pets, babies - everyone who comes up to meet and greet him - and pet him - cannot believe how well-behaved he is! He tolerates all of the attention - loud noises - balloons - everything. Emily's K9 Training is FANTASTIC. Walking Win, now, in the neighborhood is a joy. We recently passed several dogs who were leashed but out-of-control - - and at the very same time we had to pass by a home with a large dog barking behind the hedges. Winston looked at the whole scene and just kept calmly walking by - with our control as Emily taught us - "heel" and "sit" if necessary to regain his "focus." Winston was perfect!!!!! We had a deeply disappointing experience with Jesse and Proud Paws. During our initial…read moreconsultation, we explained our specific situation: a young puppy in a home with a 2-year-old toddler, and a desire to build good habits early before problems could develop. Jesse assured us that she had experience with this kind of dynamic. She strongly encouraged us to sign up for her "Puppy Rockstar" package which is eight sessions for $1,360. She came across as personable, confident, and knowledgeable, so we trusted her and paid in full upfront (though this was optional). Despite carefully following the program (including more than triple the 10 min minimum daily training time she advised) our puppy's behavior deteriorated. After three sessions, it was clear her training methods (which relied entirely on treat-based reward and offered no alternate tools or structure) weren't effective for our situation. We made the hard decision to go with a more intensive program elsewhere. When we contacted Jesse to explain our situation and request a prorated refund for the five unused sessions, she refused, citing a strict "no refunds" clause in her paper work packet. Her only offer was to put our remaining sessions on hold and extend their expiration, even though we made clear that we had already moved to other training out of necessity. It is important to note that the contract also included a clause discouraging us from working with or even taking advice from any other trainer during the program. In our view, this kind of exclusivity, especially in a situation involving a toddler and a rapidly escalating behavioral issue, was unreasonable and not in the best interest of our family or the puppy. Ultimately, we had to prioritize safety and act against the restriction as quickly as possible, even though we initially agreed in good faith. I made this clear to Jesse and offered a fair compromise, in my opinion, of allowing her to retain payment for an additional unused session as a gesture of goodwill. She declined. I voiced my frustration and, frankly, shock at her stance. When I told her I would be leaving a review of our experience, she said that doing so was "threatening her business." I clarified that we were sharing our honest experience so others could make informed choices. My wife and I don't see it that way-we believe sharing an honest account is important for other families deciding who to welcome into their homes with training. Her communication about resolving these issues reflects a rigid and transactional mindset rather than a client-focused one. That was particularly disappointing given how kind and understanding she initially seemed. I strongly advise others to approach with caution: If you choose to work with Proud Paws, I recommend avoiding prepayment, requesting a copy of any contract, and understanding there may be little room to adapt if things don't go as expected. Check out my other reviews-I hate leaving negative ones and have only done so once before. I much rather spread positive news with people and typically have much better luck on yelp finding the right providers. As an update: our puppy has been with a new trainer for just one week, and the change has been dramatic. She's calmer, better behaved, and able to interact positively with our toddler. It's been a complete turnaround. We're beyond relieved that we made the change, though still hurting from the way our family was treated here. We would get constant updates on how she was doing, behaviors the team was noticing and tips for how to address things when she came home. Every dog is unique and we understood that the work would continue even after her stay. During the time she was away, we had to do our own work and research (with Wigglewag's help) to prep for her return with new routines, boundaries, and adjustments.
