NEVER again! I let the person checking us in know how I wanted my dogs hair cut and he suggested a summer cut which I agreed to. I was so disappointed when my fiancé brought him home. The cut was uneven. They pretty much just gave up on his head and nicked the top of his head leaving it raw, so raw and red that it looked like it had bled. On top of all that it smelled like they had sprayed him with a heavy perfume. I ended up giving him another bath the smell was so strong. I chose to call this morning once I'd had a chance to cool off. I asked the person on the phone if he'd been the person there when we dropped off my dog and asked what happened? He asked what happened? I mentioned the terrible hair cut, the fact that my dog had been cut and that he reeked of perfume. He tried to tell me the haircut was agreed upon which I did not agree to a hack job! I've done a better job of cutting his hair with NO experience and managed not to hurt him. I started getting upset and misspoke stating that my dog had bled to which he quickly said he wasn't bleeding. I corrected myself and he still flat out denied that they had left his skin raw. By the time I got off the phone it turned very ugly. I didn't want to leave a bad review. Had they acknowledged and apologized things would have been different but they chose to get defensive instead. What a shame! read more

We recently took my sister's dog here because her regular groomer wasn't available. I will be honest that my sister's dog is a bit of a...challenging case. She is skittish and gets nervous easily. But she's a small dog and for a professional, it shouldn't be something that can be handled. We were first quoted $40 to $60 for a grooming bundle. We told them that they should keep the muzzle on her. When we went back to pick her up the man working immediately said that we shouldn't bring her back because she was so unmanageable and that she needs to be sedated. Well that's interesting because that's never been an issue with the previous groomers. He also told us that she didn't need a haircut so he didn't cut her hair. Well after hearing all of this we just wanted the dog back. We were told that the service should've been $69, which was more than we were previously quoted. But he gave us a "discount" of $2 since he wasn't able to finish cutting her hair. When you look at the pictures, you will see that they did a terrible job cutting her hair. She's all patchy. Then as we got ready to walk out, he said to not put her down because her nails were cut too short. When he said that, everything made sense. He probably cut her nails super short, then she was scared and in pain and therefore even more anxious than usual. You can see that her nails are REALLY short in the pictures. In fact this grooming was at the beginning of the week and she is still having trouble walking. We are livid. So I would not risk taking your pet here. Perhaps they have some groomers that are great. But it's not worth the risk when your dog can come out like my sister's did. He didn't even apologize for how he maimed her. read more

First time customer. Was hoping to like this place but unfortunately things took a turn. My regular groomer was unavailable, so I tried this place because it's closer to home also and got a quick appointment. Complaints: 1. Lengthy appointment:My dog was in at 9am...I called twice because it was taking so long (6 hours). My usual groomer does grooming in 2 hours. Apparently they take dogs in, wash them before the groomer arrives. He arrives around 11am...so my dog was waiting 2 hours minimum just for grooming to begin (maybe longer). 2. My dog was matted and I asked for a shave. Matted dogs don't get washed before a shave, but unfortunately she was washed first then shaved which I assume caused pulling and discomfort for my dog. 3. Groomer reports my dog bit him and pooped on table. Clearly my dog was in distress. She is a well behaved dog who has NEVER bit anyone in the five years she's been groomed. He claimed that other groomers don't share about bad behavior during grooming just to keep customers. This groomer clearly has trouble saying "I can't do this job, it's too hard for me." 4. Expensive groomer. I usually pay $65 for bath and groom in La Crescenta. This place charged me $88 with a new customer discount! He also didn't charge for the extra wash after my dog pooped from distress. My dog's last groom was 6 weeks ago, and I needed an appointment ASAP...I should have waited for my regular groomer to have an opening. Why was I not contacted to pick her up before this grooming became a nightmare? Because the owner/groomer came in late for the appointment and couldn't admit that he was limited in experience or time to take care of my dog. He will probably respond with some bullshit excuse of my dog being in poor condition, and her being violent. I'll respond to you ahead of time: dude, don't wash a matted dog before they're shaved. Homeless dogs who haven't been groomed in years don't get butchered like this, so don't exaggerate the situation. Also, put your ego aside and call your customer saying you can't do the job. It doesn't mean you're a bad groomer, just can't do every case. Sorry it turned out this way, but communication is free, learn to communicate better. read more

Paid 180 for two of my dogs. My dogs stayed there for 5 hours. When they came back home. One of my dogs was shaking.. she had cuts in her ears and kept scratching herself all over. I started seeing bugs on her coat, including a tick. My smaller pup kept itching as well. I had to take them to another groomer for them to finally have some relief. We asked every time for a specific type of cut and no one ever respected our request. About a year ago Pups'n'Tubs opened right near our home and we decided to try them out. Once again, asked for a specific type of cut and gave them reference images. Lo-and-behold we finally found a groomer who actually listens to their customers! We've been a regular at Pups'n'Tubs ever since. The owner, Eddie, is very attentive, remembers his customers and always offers great suggestions post grooming. For example, he suggested that we brush/de-tangle our dog before bringing him in next time to save time and money on the next cut. The best part is they now opened a dog food store right next door and the food they have is very top quality. Raw food, fresh food, etc. I would totally recommend giving them a try next time. The prices are competitive compared to other groomers and if you do end up paying more, it's 100% worth the money. read more

Last week, I took my dog mocha to this place for the first time, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. They took excellent care of mocha. Beforehand, I warned the owner that my poodle has the personality of a chihuahua--she barks a lot but is harmless. My pup, Nala, does not like groomers (or change for that matter). I've always had a hard time taking her to groomers or vets because Nala appears anxious and restless. Since Pups in Tubs is so local and conveniently located, I am nearby to pick up Nala without having her wait. Eddie greeted Nala and I and provided information on grooming services. He is knowledgeable on dog breeds and temperament as well as reading dog's body language. That was a good indicator of a successful groomer since he was in tune with how my pup was feeling and was aware of steps to take to ensure she is safe and as comfortable as possible. I got a text a few hours later that Nala was ready to be picked up. He took notes on her behavior and notified me of steps he took to make sure she was comfortable. He also took the time to tell me how to brush/deshed her on my own based on Nala's hair type. There is plenty of free parking up front. I've never had a problem with parking in that area. There are also some businesses nearby if you want to stop by while you wait for your pup to finish up. I feel grateful and at ease leaving Nala by Eddie and his staff. I scheduled my dog for boarding for the weekend and I was inconvenienced at both drop off and pick up despite having an appointment both times. I made the appointment over the phone with the owner and was sent an email AND text message confirmation for reference. I was told to show up at 10 AM to drop off which I did (9:55 to be exact). I waited 15 minutes at the door and called a few times with no answer and was met with an excuse. Supposedly, their employee was in the car waiting for the owner (whom I was speaking with on the phone each time) to arrive & the employee did not see me. Mind you, I had a flight to catch (hence the boarding services needed). I had to drop the dog off at my cousin's house who lives nearby and thankfully, she brought her back for boarding. For pickup, I arrived at our scheduled time of 10 AM and waited an ENTIRE hour after leaving over 5 voicemails and calling around 20 times. At this point I am livid and genuinely wondering if my dog is okay. Finally, the owner strolls in at 11 AM with another excuse that an employee had a family emergency. He mentioned that I was to be notifited of this via phone call but that an employee neglected to do so. He truly took no responsibility for anything and kept using his employees as a scapegoat. The best part is, when I told him how I waited both times he said "You didn't even wait that long the first time." I shouldn't have to wait at all being that I had an appointment. You would think that they would make it a point to correct their initial mistake by making SURE to be there/available for pickup but I ultimately waited EVEN longer. I understand things happen but if someone has entrusted you with their dog, it shouldn't be this difficult to reach someone at a business that SUPPOSEDLY opens at 9 AM. Very frustrating and has you wonder....who was watching the dogs if no one heard me calling/knocking on the door over and over? And their employee had a "family emergency." I can't wait to see the owner's response to this review as I see him battling it out with those who don't favor his business in other reviews. read more
