Dec 8 2024 Brought my 6 pound Yorkie mix at 8 am for a bath & cut. Was told by Kaitlyn that the groomer will be in. I informed Kaitlyn that her legs were a lil matted. She felt the legs and said there no that bad. Her Body was already short written instructions NO cutting from face no bangs. 9:30am called and said she could not uamat. My choice was to pick up or cut the matted area. Gave my ok to clean up the legs only thing matted. Came back to store around 10::00am. Kaitlyn groomer had not finished. 1:00pm Kaitlyn. Was done.I didn't complain because having a appointment at 12:00 I was already late. Kaitlyn decided to give my dog disastrous, wrong, grooming. If she would have cut just the legs down which was the only problem . She cut the hair on the ears, she started cutting bangs and didn't finish, cut all the hair off the tail. She got to the breast and just stopped. My dog hair and pony tail has never been matted. I did speak to the Owner about the grooming experience, which he did refund me my money. Jan 26, 2025 I did reschedule because I was happy with my previous groomers for over a year.Pre check in I left a note asking that Kaitlyn have No interactions with my dog. Kaitlyn is at the desk to receive your pets. She informed me that my groomer will be in. I informed her that was what she said last time and she ended up cutting her.So she said the groomer will check her in and that's what happened.The reason for yelping her reactions was she had not did anything to my dog. "I'm incredibly disappointed with the grooming salon's front desk at this Petco. We have a 75lb fearful dog and spent the entire morning setting him up for success--including a specific feeding schedule, calming supplements, and a long decompression walk to ensure he was in a great headspace. He was behaving perfectly. We asked for a straight-through groom with a call-ahead (so he wouldn't have to be caged), which we've done here before. The grooming receptionist was extremely rude, claiming this was now a 'VIP service.' When my wife asked for simple clarification on where to initial the paperwork, she snapped, 'I just explained to you where to...' We immediately stopped her and left. It's a shame when the dog is the one behaving and the staff is the one acting out. We will not be back to this salon. BTW we usually had good service at PETCO . If they go back to the more helpful customer-oriented staff, we might consider revisiting. It is close and convenient. Very disappointing. read more

fernanda the stylist that did my dogs haircut cut him very uneven and he was very skittish after the haircut which for some reason took 4 hours, and she told me she couldn't cut his nails or face bc he's aggressive and biting her? When I came to pick him up she told me I would have to pay the whole service even tho she couldn't complete the service and was extremely rude. My dog is a 8 lb small Shih Tzu who doesn't bite nor is aggressive with any groomer so I'm not sure what they were doing In there to cause him to be like that. I also don't know why it took 4 hours and 30 mins to complete a regular haircut and bath when he wasn't even matted. The store itself is clean and the staff are friendly. My only disappointment for this location is the small selection of cat items. They have a large section dedicated to dogs with treats, new food brands like The Honest Kitchen (which my cats enjoy their wet food items), more. Customer service suck at this location. Several employees but only one handler for the pets. After the wait, I'm told the animal I wanted to see was not 75% off and was the incorrect animal labeled. I am very disappointed that I have taken my husky twice to be groomed and he was turned away because the groomer couldn't touch his paws. Both times Amy has been the one to do this so called test where she has to be able to touch his paws because they are being recorded and they have to show the cameras that they are able to touch the dogs paws. I told them he is sensitive when it comes to people touching his paws. All he needed was a bath and a blowout for his coat. We specifically told her he doesn't like his paws to be touched and he did not need his nails to be trimmed because of that reason. She insisted she had to perform this paw test, she was able to lift 2 of his paws but both times he was very vocal that he didn't like that. The 3rd time Amy lifted his leg in a very awkward position and he was not happy at all and he very much let her know. I feel like as a groomer if you're being told the dog doesn't like his paws touched then you shouldn't touch his paws. I felt like she just didn't want to bathe my dog because it was going to be too much work. My dog is not an aggressive dog at all and he has gone to Petco several times to get groomed at other locations and has never had this so called test done and he has NEVER had any issues. I feel like Amy should have some re-training or just maybe say she doesn't want to groom large dogs. I feel like purposely antagonized my dog so she could turn him away,If you have a large bread dog maybe don't book an appointment with Amy. read more

I wouldn't recommend grooming there ONLY IF you have a hyper dog. We have a large very hyper friendly dog. As it was explained to me, he didn't want to go into a kennel so they put him in a smaller crate? Evidently, our dog kept hitting his head on the crate so he has a scab on top of his head now. They did clean our dog and for that I'm grateful. I know our dog isn't easy to deal with, so I'm not at all knocking the groomer. (She did her best. ) I just wish they were more prepared or better trained with dogs such as ours. read more

Greg was very helpful, personable and competent. Not only did he show me to the area of my item, he made me aware of how regularly they are stocked and how to choose the right one. I would rate this store at a "zero" if I could. I signed my puppy up for a set of 6 training classes in January. We attended two, at which time we were informed that another dog would be joining the class the next week. The next week we had a tasting for our wedding and advised the trainer of this. She said it was no problem because then the other dog could catch up to where we were at with our puppy. These classes were not in consecutive weeks. We found out that we had to wait and see if we got a text message indicating that there would be a class on Sunday. We showed up a couple of times and were told that there was no class as our instructor wasn't working that day. We were then informed that if we didn't get a text, which came 1 or 2 days before the class, that there would be no class. Unfortunately, due to missing the text the next week, we mistakenly didn't show up. We stopped in and talked to our trainer about missing the class and if we could make it up, and she said she would talk to the manager. When we showed up for the next class that was texted to us, our trainer indicated that the manager, Alex, had said that we had missed too many classes and we could not continue the class. There was no offer of a refund or makeup of any kind. Alex refuses to call us to discuss the matter, and we even stopped in to talk to him, but were directed to another acting manager who said she would ask Alex to call us. I have never attended any class of any sort where the classes are not consecutive and regular and you have to wait for a text to see if you had a class or not. Ridiculous I will be seeking further remedy to recoup the $119 I paid for 6 classes. read more

Typical PetCo... The reason for the one star is the awful amount of sick/dying betta fish in the cups. Most of them were barely hanging on, one even had full on body rot, and a bunch were dead. My wife and I brought our 3.5 month old maltipoo puppy here for his first grooming! Courtney was our groomer and she did a terrific job in him considering he was nervous and new. (See before and after pics) I was impressed because while our puppy didn't take to her using the clippers, she instead used scissors to give him a trim and make him look good. (She said this was typical of new puppies). The service here was above and beyond, and they did great. We will be bringing our puppy here for grooming going forward. read more

My baby girl returned yesterday from the groomers so beautiful. After meeting Chase I felt 100% comfortable leaving my baby there. My dog has some health concerns and Chase listened to them. I upgraded to some special shampoo because of her skin concerns. I would not trust anyone with her until I saw how gentle Chase was with my boys I bring there. I don't know if anybody in this location knows what they're doing, but our pet should not be going to a place like this. I love my pet with all my heart and I will never bring them to the grooming salon ever.. on top of that I have a fish tank went to buy two fish. They didn't know what they were talking about. Told me there would be no warranty on the fish never asked for one then they said oh yes, there was they really need to get it together? Store was super clean and organized. Sometimes I think people have nothing better to do then complain, thats probably the reason for the negative reviews on here. If you can't help someone, there's a better way to inform your customer that you are busy. I called them because smaller one died the very next morning . I told them they sold him sick fish. They said they don't do refunds or guarantees on salt water fish because their vendors do t. WTH! currently begging y'all to NOT bring your dog here for grooming. we took in our pomeranian and im not even kidding when i say it looks like the groomer was watching a youtube tutorial while doing it. his fur is cut short as hell, which we've NEVER done and his face is a literal circle. then for Chase(?) to say "well he was moving" ok and?? he always does. and it has never ever looked this horrid. if you dont know how to cut a certain breed of dog's fur.. The few times I've visited this location I've felt so uncomfortable and unwelcome. The employees are always huddled together and disregard customers all together. As other reviews have stated the woman that works there by the name of "Jennifer" is extremely rude and unapproachable. She pays no mind to customers and god forbid you even walk in the same direction of her. I'm a very forgiving, understanding, and open minded person. I try to give people the benefit of doubt and I just kept telling myself maybe she's having a bad day? But it's the same interaction any time I go in. We all have things going on outside of work and we all have "off" days. I understand what it's like to be unhappy at a job, but maybe if you're feeling that miserable consider another line of work? I work in retail myself and the way the entire staff at this location treats customers is disappointing. The only positive to this location is how well the animals are cared for. They all seem healthy and habitats are clean. Hopefully the business owners take a look at what similar reviews are stating and some changes are made soon. I took my dog in to get groomed before a trip we're taking on Friday and not even an hour later I got a call from the groomer. I was told that he was being difficult today and he wouldn't let them shave his legs so we needed to pick him up. This is the second time this happens. I took my Snorkie puppy in when she was about 5 months old and when I got there, they told me she "wasn't letting them" cut her hair, but they bathed her; that time they charged me in full. I used to go to a groomer who knew how to handle them, regardless of them being fussy, but she moved and I started going to petco, so this isn't the first time I take him there. Now I have to buy clippers and do it myself as I can't find a groomer that will take him tomorrow, Thursday is a holiday and I leave Friday, so they just wasted my time. If you plan on taking your dog here for grooming, just know it may be a waste of time/money because if the groomer is inexperienced or incompetent you'll end up with a dog that's shaved a quarter of the way. read more

No words ... do not take your pets here unless you love bad service and incompetence. This is how they left my dog after canceling me due to an employee calling in sick. I got rescheduled for the same week. Turns out my dog was being a bad dog and the person grooming him couldn't finish him up. So again they told me i could bring him back the next day with his previous groomer. I asked that i get a call immediately if there were any issues. She agreed. I left my dog there at 9 am. 3 hours and a half i didn't hear anything from them so i called. My dog was sitting in a cage all this time waiting for all the groomers appointments to end before she would get to mine because she didn't want to risk him being a bad dog again and making her fall behind on her other appointments. I was AM very upset. This is my baby. I would have picked up my dog asap if only she would have called with any issues. They provide a service not because they care for their clients but because they need the job and this to me is poor customer service. Absolute WORST grooming experience and we didn't even get groomed! Our appt was at 1:30pm, we drove all the way from Sacramento and walked in at 1:32pm. The lady at the front desk was busy on a call and did not look up at us once. Until at 1:34p the groomer, Akiko Ascencio came from the back, looked up our appointment and said "you're late, we need to reschedule." AT 1:34PM. she then proceeded to be rude, nasty, and uncooperative. She told us she could cut our dog but it would take 5-6 HOURS. WTF We told her we drove all this way and we weren't aware of a late policy and were never told to arrive earlier than our appt. Nonetheless I didn't want to leave my dog with this nasty POS so we left and called the help line. Petco states their grace period is 10 minutes INCLUDING a phone call to make sure you're on your way to the appt. Which we NEVER got. No grace period and no phone call after being 2 minutes late. We gave Petco her name and they said they would be escalating it to upper management. Listen to the reviews and do not book your groom here ESPECIALLY with Akiko Ascencio. read more
