Y'all, this is crazy...I have had Pepe for nearly two years now but realized we were in dire need of some new digs. This hydroponic herb-growing tank just wasn't doing it for me or him anymore, and he hides all day in his waterfall rock kingdom. Not cool, Pepe, not cool. So we went real estate shopping. I went back to where it all started... Unfortunately, I think it's that time of year and stock is just down. I was looking for a new tank in between the 5 and 2 gallon range and there really wasn't much offerings nor was there much in the way of staffing in this area to assist. Also, sidenote, the lights were flickering poltergeist-style (don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about) and everyone was going about their biz like Black Mirror-style this wasn't happening. The ferrets seemed to be ultra-chill about it and I'm sure they can sense those things so I didn't freak out too bad... I'll head back there way after the holiday craze dies down to see if the poltergeists have been exercised and they've restocked. read more

The staff at this location is SO RUDE. So far I have had three situations with different staff members where they had a foul attitude . Most of my situations are with the older lady with the short light colored hair she always has a stick up her ass , acts like she can't be bothered or you're just beneath her In thus most recent situation I order curbside pickup on an item when I arrived I clicked the button that said I was here and it said stand by but then it went back to the Home Screen and the app closed out . So I clicked it again to make sure it went through .... well it jus sweet girl brings me out my order . Meanwhile the nasty MANAGER I'm guessing makes sure to show her face in the door to say to me " only push the button once " and went back inside with a nasty face . I had to ask the girl what she even said because I'm in my car . Anyway .. rude ! Most of the staff is friendly it's the two older ladies one with short colored hair and one with long dark hair . They need to remember that they are at work and people are living their lives too. Fix your attitude ladies.. you seem miserable . You work with animals how can you be so miserable ? Look I never post reviews ANYWHERE but I felt obligated to after me and my friend went into petco last night to get a few things and the girl with the short light purple hair acted like we were holding HER up from checking us out, because I had my hands on the products while me and my friend were talking to each other for a second. Also may I add that we were the only 2 in the store as well- so there was no line. She was just SO incredibly rude, rolled her eyes at me personally & just had a really bad attitude and AWFUL customer service. Decent location with incredibly helpful and friendly staff! However, it's all spoiled by one manager who seems to have returned after about a 2 year break. She treats her employees like garbage while not doing much and very clearly dragging the establishment down. Not very fond of do-nothing higher-ups whose jobs are handed to them. Went to buy cat food on Sunday, November 10. a beautiful day, sunny and in the high 70's. I was appalled to have my ears assaulted by insipid Christmas music (Jingle Bell Rock). It's not even Thanksgiving yet!!!!! What genius thinks I want to hear Christian music when I'm in shorts and a t-shirt and have just taken down my Halloween decorations. Not everyone celebrates Christmas. While I do, I don't want to hear Christmas music for two months. There are lots of other places close by to get dog and cat food. I had an appointment to have my 15 pound pup groomed today at 1:15pm. I dropped him off at 12:45pm. When I called at 3:30 to see if they were almost finished, they had not even started! My poor 8 year old pup sat in a cage for 3 hours. When I went to get him without him being groomed, I spoke to a manager. All she kept saying was "it's Christmas Eve", "we had a lot of dogs today"! I don't care what day it is, don't leave my poor pup in a small cage for 3 hours! Don't book so many appointments! After going to Petco with 3 different dogs over 20 years, I will never go back! read more

Terrible service on behalf of the groomer and assistant manager. Drop my dog off for an appointment and went over the details, also let the groomer Dawn look over and feel my dog to ensure that she could complete the service. Dropped my dog off at 10 AM. Dawn calls me back at 1:30pm telling me that she cannot service my pet bc she is matted on her butt in one area. Despite her checking already to see if she could service her or if she felt like she was matted before I left. Then on top of that when I pick her up, she is all aggressive, rude. I explain to her that I have the brush and she checked prior to me leaving. Her rude tone and remark was wild. She appears to be on drugs and lazy and doesn't want to do her job basically. Her mouth was twisting and eyes buck. And now she actually is matted Bc she wet her and didn't brush back out. Then the assistant manager Jennifer was surprisingly even more weirder. Customer service doesn't exist here. Explained the encounter to her and her remark was just ok. Lol complete joke and I'm glad I don't do my job how they do theirs. read more

I love this place. They take very good care of all their animals, and I especially appreciate the cleanliness and care that goes into the fish tanks. They have a wonderful staff, I always ask for Em bc she's super helpful and knows her stuff, but everyone there is great. I have gotten several fish from here and they all thrive. read more

I've been shopping at this location for many years and the service is always impeccable. I'm sad to see people posting poor reviews because the lack of inventory. I spoke with the ordering manager today and I assumed everyone would understand during COVID EVERYTHING is impacted. Their deliveries are not on time, they have difficulty with getting what they need due to manufacturing issues etc.. Please understand this is a downstream effect of COVID, not the store's fault. I would give a 0/5 star review if I could. We recently scheduled an appointment for our two dogs to get a haircut and full bath. We had just been to the vets and the vet said we were cleared to go for grooming. Upon arrival to the grooming section, the guy looked at our dogs funny and did not even greet us. So I said "Hi, we have an appointment for --- and ---- for 12." He then asked about one of our dog's grooming history and when the last time he was groomed was. He walked around the booth and looked at that dog and said "yeah I'm not gonna even try to groom that dog because he has mats and he's too young." I left the room at that point because his attitude was horrible. Then he told my boyfriend "y'all need to brush him everyday. Y'all are already starting off on a bad foot with him." I hate that he assumes we don't and knows nothing about what we do or don't. Not to mention judging our parenting. Then he looked at our other dog and our dog was scooting away from him. This dog always comes up and licks everyone and is super friendly. Obviously he disliked this guy for good reason. The guy then said he couldn't do this dog either because he was anxious. So if a dog is anxious does that mean he can never get groomed? Aren't you supposed to expose him to grooming more so he can get more accustomed? Overall I would not recommend this place to anyone for grooming with the poor attitude of this man. He sent us home basically saying he can't do anything for us even though our appointment was for more than just grooming (full bath, teeth cleaning, gland expression etc). He didn't even ask if we wanted any other services besides grooming. After this experience we drove to Petsmart to see if they would take our pups and they were happy to. read more

I don't usually review chains... but this needs to be said. My husband is a huge fish lover. We have a wonderful tank that he dotes on and spends a lot of his free time ensuring that our little buddies are healthy and happy. We went to Petco today to get cat food, because there are only 2 places in town that sell their food, and we were already in the shopping center for another store. Anyway, husband goes over to the fish area and I head to cat-town. He comes over to me a few minutes later (which is rare, I usually have to drag him away from any sort of fish tank) , and told me that he was disgusted and wanted to leave immediately. I asked him why. He told me that all the fish were very sick with a disease called "tail rot", which is easily treated, and will kill large numbers of fish if it is not treated. It's also painful for the fish. He said it best "If they were treating dogs like this, people would be outraged".... I put down the cat food and we walked out without giving them any of our money. At this same location last year, I noted that there was a tank meant for plants that was FULL of goldfish. Many corpses as well. The live ones were struggling because the pump that moved the water throughout the tank was sucking them in and killing them. I brought it up to the checkout person, and she stated that she knew about the problem, and that they were working on it. I should have never come back after that, but I do dumb things sometimes.. Oh well. No more petco for us. read more

I come here quite often, to feed my two dogs. My snake and two birds, they chirp but can't blog. My cat loves the cat nip; my pups the snack bacon. The snake eats mice-cicles; of that there's no fakin. They groom the dogs nicely, they come back all clean. The staff is polite, they never are mean. The prices are equal, to stores half their merit. The quality is high, so why don't you share it? I'll come here oft future, to fill my pet needs. To hug rescue dogs, and do some good deeds. The pets there are varied, from rats to a cute kitten. Long ferrets and gerbils, more than can be written. Come shop - bring your Boxer, your Hound or your Schnauzer. Your Manx or your Tabby - the cute little mouser. The store is welcoming, clean and sublime. To rate it less stars would be such a crime. read more

May 26, 2021 approx 2:30. This day had to have been a bad day for this crew. It was not a shop friendly place. I've shopped here before and never had much of a problem other than a shortage for product shopped for. Though there was at least 5 or 6 workers on the floor, not one took the time to ask if I needed anything or if I was finding everything needed. After I tried searching for a particular product for a few minutes but decided to leave and shop somewhere else that would offer better customer service. Before leaving I asked for the manager and told her my concerns and lack of service. I left feeling as though she didn't give a hoot either. I'm sure if the manager is like this with most of Petco's customers, District needs to be made aware. read more

Okay, I know it's not very "yelpy" to write a review of national chain stores like this, but I do so in the hope that someone will be able to point me in the direction of an alternate option for cat stuff (food, litter, toys, especially flea meds) that's more local. This is the only place I'm aware of that has that kind of stuff, and even though it's expensive I end up there once every few months or so. The employees are generally friendly, but it's often reeeeallly slow. I think because there's usually only one, maybe two checkout lines open? Not sure. In any event, my longstanding reliance on this place would happily end if I knew of anywhere else to go. read more

- Lee Weinberger, their dog trainer, is awesome. Super nice, knowledgable, and helpful at picking out products. We did the Puppy 1 class with her as well as several free puppy playtimes and I could not speak more highly of the experience! - Their groomers are amazing. Our dog looked super cute after his hair cut! - They have a huge selection of products since they're a chain, just be a conscious consumer about what you are buying your pet! Dog owners need to stay away from any food made in China (chicken jerky from Milo's Kitchen has been recalled for making dogs sick) - but that's anywhere you go. Also be careful with some products that are choking hazards! Ie. rawhide. Lee suggested we go for bully sticks because they are highly digestible. Our pup loves them...although the ingredients are kinda hilarious/gross - 100% bull penis. YUM. read more

I was sent here to get a bulb and a light holder thingy - "brooder Clamp LIght with Porcelain Socket." I wandered around looking for any staff to help me and then found that there were only two working and they were chatting up front. The one lady who did end up helping me was very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. She sent me to a different store where I got the same thing for more than %75 less than I would have gotten it at Petco. 2 points for the great staff that helped me. Zero for the prices. read more

My review is for grooming and store. The store is always clean. The workers are always friendly and helpful. The groomers are wonderful! My shih tzu always looks so cute and clean after her grooming session! Everyone is friendly inside the store and inside the grooming salon. Definitely recommend this location! read more

Two stars for dog training classes. The trainer, Nicole, was great most of the time. Day one was the exception, when I felt like I was at a timeshare presentation - did I really pay money to hear about how great petco supplies are for 45 minutes? The rest of the time she was spectacular, insightful, patient, and clearly loves the dogs. The space, however, was terrible. Not just a little cramped, but completely stupid. If I had known that there would be 5 dogs trying to learn to behave in a space half the size of my (small) bedroom there is no way I ever would have signed up. read more

Always an adventure here with the staff. I've been shopping here about 8 years and sometimes great sometimes the worst. I've had about 3 interactions with the angry thin lady that gets the fish for me. After today I will wait until the tall chic that is always helpful and friendly next time I need help in that department. The lady today was such a rude ass to me and also grabbing the fish out of the tank and squeezing them bare handed...well it was just too much. Its a chain store, with everything you expect from a chain store. One stop shopping, you go there for the convenience of getting everything in one place and their extended hours, but you'd prefer to go to a local store. I will say this particular Petco is better than most because its clean, they have a large selection, and they regularly have ARNO pet adoptions there. Again, I'd prefer to spend my money with a locally owned business, but when thats not possible, this particular Petco works for me. I will say one odd thing is that my dog doesnt particularly care for the store. I think the cleaning products smell like his vet. Still they have food, so thats bizarro..... read more

I had the pleasure of being helped by the manager Stacie a few days ago and she was absolutely amazing and so kind. She taught me a lot about different options to try food for my dog and explaining why my dog was possibly destroying his toys constantly. She recommended a toy that makes Duke have to think and solve puzzles and in turn I have not had any toys tore to shreds since then. I have been trying forever to get him to stop and she did it! I have recently lost my husband and it was nice being able to talk with her and she uplifted my spirits and totally understood my loss as she lost her father this past year too. I will continue to be a repeat customer at this location as she has gained my respect and I only want to see her when I go in now. Thank you for such a pleasant experience, I wish there was more managers like her in retail!! read more

I go here once a year to get flea poison to dose my cat. The service and experience are always the same, which is good to very good. But it also consistently leaves me frankly perplexed that big box pet stores have skin in the retail game. 20 years ago big box pet stores weren't even on the radar, and today they bank. read more

This has been my go to pet store for a long time and it is also the place where I met the first rescue greyhound I adopted so it has a little sentimental value for me as well. That being said, I like the fact adoption groups meet here from time to time and find forever homes for dogs that need them. I prefer a type of food called Taste of The Wild but it is hard to find! Anyway, I ended up getting Blue Buffalo Freedom Grain Free in the lamb flavor which my dogs love. They have an outstanding selection of dog food in general. I live closer the new shopping center on Claiborne that includes a PetSmart which I have only gone to once. I have to say I prefer to drive a little more to go the this Petco because I feel like their selection is better for the things I buy and I have always had a lot of good luck finding helpful sales associates when I am looking for something or have a question. read more

Petco is your average chain pet store. That being said, despite the overall cleanliness of the store, I am always appalled at the quality of the aquaiums. I see fish with obvious ick, fin rot, fungus, and all number of issues. Even dead and dying fish will be floating around in a tank full of other fish still marked "for sale". I sometimes shop here for pet supplies due to the location being convenient to my house, but after today I won't. Petco does not even nod at educating customers about even the fundamentals of proper aquarium care. Today I was in buying filter media for my aquarium and a dog tag for my grandma's dog, and there was a man with two bratty kids under 5, buying a "toy" aquarium and 14 of those genetically modified neon fish. The salesgirl was happily telling him lies about how you can "just treat the water and put the fish in". She didn't mention how in a few days there will be super high nitrate/nitrite levels, and PH issues due to a lack of proper cycling, and the fish will probably succumb to PH crash. I was appalled at the situation, but when Petco's fish look so mistreated, how well can you expect them to educate customers? I suggest you take your business to Jefferson Feed on Jefferson Highway. Their aquariums are better maintained, and they have a real-life fish nerd on staff that watches them and takes care of them. I just bought a gorgeous red oranda there for 14 dollars, and he is healthy as a horse. By far, a superior pet (and garden) store, and better prices for dog and cat food, as well. read more

I'm always in Petco because they sell the expensive bourgey brand of cat food my cat likes to eat. And I like the refillable giant mountain of cat litter - very cheap and not full of nasty deoderants like other cat litters. Good news for dog owners: This store is probably 50% dog stuff. On the other hand, there's often problems just BUYING the dang stuff at this Petco. I often come here on evenings or weekends, and there's often a line 10 people deep. Sometimes things happen like their credit card machines going down, which doesn't help. If they could fix their frequent check-out problems, I'd probably bump this up to 4 stars. read more

Most of the staff was friendly, but when I asked for help with freshwater fish a team member that was not so friendly assisted me. She was condescending and rude to me and another customer and I left afterward and decided to take my business elsewhere. The other employees also witnessed her disrespectful attitude. My rating isn't for the store itself but the customer service I experienced at this location. As far as I know the attitude was unprovoked, I just was asking a question about the fish in store. read more

This petco is always a mess. No one ever knows anything when I have questions. It says they open at 9 am and when I showed up at 9:10 an employee and myself were sitting outside of the store waiting for someone to let us in. All the lights were on but the doors weren't open and there were baskets in front of the door. I eventually had to leave because I had work. read more
