This location is well put together. It is clean with friendly staff. I visited the previous Oceanside location often and I do think this was a good move for them. I like that they've added a self-wash station for dogs, although I have yet to try it out... (I believe it is $15.00). It is smaller but everything is very effectively well organized... I bought a well pet package, and ai had to bring my dog back for the rest of her vaccines. I was unable to bring her so my son took her for me. They added Nextgard medication for 6 months which I didn't need. When I filled out their questioner online I stated I didn't need flee medication and still had told my son she needed it. I called Vet o Clinic to ask and if I could return it they said no and absolutely no refunds. I don't know why they even have us fill out the form if they're not reviewing it. Our dog has allergies & requires prescription dog food. Petco like other online stores has repeat delivery at a small discount. Offering similar quality-of-service as Chewy. One advantage to Petco stores is I can buy individual cans of prescription canned food & pick them up. Unlike Chewy which sells by the 24-can case only. The only flaw with buying prescription foods in-store is you need a store med card (one for each food prescription) to buy the same food that you've ordered online multiple time ie there is no link between your online prescriptions & orders & in-store. Frustrating, plus the med card that's required in-store has to be issued by the (limited store hours) Petco vet. You can not buy prescription dog food even with the prescription in-hand. So if you are buying any prescription items, order online & wait for a pickup notification. Do not walk into Petco expecting to buy the item(s) unless you have the med card. PetSmart has a similar disconnect between online & in-store. read more

As for ZACH if you're taking your pup in for a groom. I have a little dog named Tesla who's very nervous and afraid of getting groomed. I let Zach know this a when I dropped him off. Right away, Zach handled my pup in a calm and gentle fashion. He cradled him in his arms instead of dragging him off with a leash around his neck. I felt very confident leaving Tesla with him as I could tell he'd be in kind and loving hands. When Tesla was ready to be picked up, he looked AWESOME, and VERY HAPPY. Zach did a beautiful job! Celina, who works behind the counter was also incredibly helpful. I don't know if they work as a team, but she was also very helpful. Thank you Zach and Celina! We'll be coming back!! read more

The employees are all nice and all that. But, I took my dog in for some blood work and once I got him back from whatever room they took him too, I noticed he had a bunch of fleas!! He's never had them before and I've been so careful about it and now he's infested with fleas and passed it to my cats and the carpet. Don't go go the vet here is all I have to say. So I told them I would be there. I showed up at 5:02 to be safe and they were gone....??? They had a sign out front that said "we're closed! Our hours are 9am-6pm." That's freaking ridiculous! Allyn and Kacey from grooming are the worst liars I've ever had the misfortune of encountering. We had an issue with scheduling, and appointments regarding grooming. Naturally, we brought it up with management and they spoke to us afterwards. They spoke to us afterwards however their story didn't line up with what Celina, also from grooming had told us earlier. All you get are excuses from this staff since no one wants to own up to any mistakes. Laurie Freeman is an outstanding dog trainer, and it pains me to say that we will no longer be coming to this location because my family, my dogs especially, are going to miss Laurie. read more

Very unprofessional my husband showed up to pick up our dogs meds at vetco because I received an email confirming it's "ready for pick up". They refused to give him the meds and said we have to go to a different location. I called to clarify because no one had told us we had to go to another location in the first email they sent. They made me call the other location assuring me I could get my pills there. I spoke with the other location and I was told I can get them at either location. I called again(COLLEGE BLVD) location to get this resolved and one of the workers hung up on me while expressing my concern about how important these pills are to my dogs. Dogs deserve better care and I'm already looking to go elsewhere. read more

I'm very unhappy with Petco after 1st time grooming my little Dog, girls did great job on Blu Jasmine but couldn't believe it cost 92.oo after 60 for grooming 12 teeth cleaned and I expected that charge but they added for supplies, ect. I was charged for a service in grooming that was not performed. When I called PETCO to ask about it I was given the run around and double talk. After that my calls/messages are not answered. When I call the manager "just stepped out" and never responds. The groomers can't respond because they are busy. Mean while no refund on the bogus charge. read more

Let me start off with how each employee at this store is amazing and are some pretty well informed people who work with their animals. I'm supper happy to see the upgrade in location, it may be smaller, but Its easier to navigate and get help from an employee who might be across the store, instead of searching what felt like a warehouse before. I know Covid has more to do with stock issues than the store itself being unable to do so. One of the ladies I've seen come to the Starbucks next door she brought a dog in and preceded to get angry at a barista for being nice to the dog "just saying hi" Even tho the barista was off shift she didn't do any different then the 2 baristas she allowed! To pet her dog .....I was there the next day where she decided to insult the barista about coming up to her dog and then changed her whole attitude once she realized the barista was currently working.... I have a 2 1/2 year old Goldendoodle who has always received outstanding care while being groomed by Ashley. Unfortunately, I was informed that Ashley is no longer available and that Kacey would be grooming our sweet girl. I was bummed that Ashley wasn't available, however I did trust the Petco brand and assumed all groomers receive the same training. I was also told that Kacey is the manager, which made me feel comfortable. Unfortunately I was completely wrong and should not have allowed her to groom my pup. When I first picked up my dog I didn't notice anything, however as soon as I got her home something looked off. She was moping around the house and she kept licking her nose. Then I noticed her drool had blood in it. That's when I realized the hair on her upper lip was completely shaved off and she had severe razor burn. I have no idea why the hair on her lip was shaved. This has never happened before. It took two weeks for her skin to heal and the hair to start to grow back. It's very disappointing because we have always had such a great experience at Petco, specifically with Ashley. Please DO NOT allow Kacey to groom your pet. Not only did she hurt my dog, she also charged me for an extra service and I didn't realize until it was time to pay and the total was way more than I usually pay. read more

Dr shiela ask for her she's the best usually when I take my dog places like the pet coach in San Marcos he comes off as 'super aggressive' . But dr shiela treated my dog so kindly even took off his muzzle no problems she treated my dog with respect instead of just an animal I really appreciated that. the pet coach in San Marcos treated my dog as if he were a wild bear or something waiting to attack . My dog is a sweet heart and Dr shiela and the women at the front desk were so kind both to me and him ! No regrets taking my dog there ! Honest to god I wish I could speak to her manager and tell him or her to give them both a raise cause I have never been more satisfied then here thank u so much shiela ! This Petco made me so mad!! My dog had a grooming appointment today and as they were reading the notes about my dog who has a history of back injury when she was 1, she is now 11 and I've never had problems before with the other Vista Way Petco but this College and 76 Petco store told me that I needed a Veterinarian note stating that my dog is cleared for grooming! No one told me or even bothered to send a mass email about their new policy about this and to think that I spoke to this store several times before the grooming date! All that wasted time and I could've just taken my dog somewhere else. They said that every time I take her for grooming I need a Vet note? Wow, thats an extra $$ for me to spend just to have her groomed at Petco! Just FYI this store's management sucks! The least they could have done was to check her notes when I made the appointment to verify if my dog had any problems. You just lost a customer for life. Goodbye Petco!!! read more
