This is my very first review and I actually joined just because I read, and disagreed, so strongly with this last reviewer. I also went to this Petco in April of this year. I was staying in the area for the Stagecoach Music Festival for which I had brought my dog - the first day he was able to stay in our hotel room but the second day we had to check out and I found out very quickly it was just too hot for him. The Petco was right across the street from my hotel so we decided to stop there to see if there were any available solutions there to keep him cool. I saw the grooming office in the back and decided that the best idea rather than trying to get a spray bottle to keep him cool with ice water, was to leave him at the groomers. My doggy is my baby so needless to say I was extremely worried about leaving him at a groomers I knew nothing about and had never gone to but the two women working there were really nice and fit him in to their schedule despite that I was a walk-in. They sympathized with my problem and allowed me to leave him there until closing so that he could stay out of the heat as long as possible. When I picked him up he looked great! Ever since I've really loved the haircut they gave him even as it grows out, it still looks good and I haven't had to deal with any matting hair since! This is the first groomer who has achieved that. He definitely is ready for another haircut and I even consider driving all the way out there again from my home in LA just so he can go to that groomer. They won me over and if I'm ever in the area again I'll definitely make an appointment for him to go back. read more

Cheryl in grooming is excellent. I am less than pleased with the price for my 11 pound dog. An overcharge in my opinion for a bath, for his size and easy coat. My Dad's dog weighs 30lbs more and had a full grooming and was charged the same price. I recommend Cheryl highly though I won't be back. read more

Tony is a wonderful trainer. He loves his job and he loves the dogs. Our Frenchie learned so much from him. I will highly recommend Tony and his expertise. We have enjoyed every minute of his class. We come into this Petco at least once a week, and normally everything is easy and all goes smoothly. But tonight was different. My husband got there 4 minutes before the store closed and they had the door locked and refused to let us in. This isn't the first time it's happened, its happened on multiplr occasions in fact, but this is just the last straw. What are store hours for if you aren't going to follow them? If I did that at my restaurant, corporate would be livid! As a manager I understand that it's slow and you want to go home, but we were there to buy crickets, which takes all of 3 minutes..my husband would have been out the door before the store is [supposed to be] closed. I know theyre just crickets, but it just shows the lack of caring and respect for your customers. I understand you want to make your employees happy by continuously letting them not follow policy and not confronting them on their lazy work ethic, but at some point they need to start being held accountable for what they are and are not doing. Its not like im asking them to perform surgery, just to wait until the store actually closes to lock it. Why should I come here when I'm turned away before the store is closed?? That is absolutely terrible customer service, and I'm really shocked that a store that advertises that they care, couldn't care less about the customers. False advertising, and possibly discrimination. Try to avoid not just this Petco, but all Petco's, because clearly if they gave a shit, they'd fix their horrible customer service. Ok good service shouldn't be hard to find but sometimes it is. Not here though. I'm a man of simple tastes and I really love when someone gives actual customer service. Hannah is a prime example of that. Her help was amazing and she understands how to make the customer feel number one. Give that girl a raise. read more

Got voicemail from groomer at 5:20 that if I didn't pickup my dog before 5:45 they will take him to the pound. The store closed at 6 and never was so aware this is their policy. I am not a late person, I find it rude and disrespectful. This threatening and rude phone call was terribly disturbing. I worried over my dog all evening. If this is their love of pets, what happens when no one is looking? Groomer is one of the managers. Just terrible. I'll never support any petco again. read more

We have four cats and two dogs, most of whom have some sort of special need, whether it's over the counter treatments, special food, grooming issues, whatever, and I can find everything I need here. The staff are always friendly and helpful when we ask for something. We use Sam in the grooming department (a woman) for our Persian cat and she always comes home happy and playful, at our old groomer she was upset and nauseated the rest of the day :( I also like the rewards program. I spend a lot of food, litter, and other supplies every month and I easily earn $100 or more a year in pals rewards (in store cash back). If you shop on their website you can get swagbucks too if you use that. Those little bits add up for sure. The only thing I don't like are their prices on Litter Genie refills (several $ more than Target) and not carrying a heated cat bed in store. We use them a lot and give them as gifts. It would be nice to be able to buy them in store. read more

Horrible customer service. Booked grooming with a rep on the phone. At time of appointment they cancelled because they "had another dog and needed to be out there soon". What? No phone call heads up so we can book another location? Now it's 4:15pm on a Sunday and nobody can do it. The customer service reps name was JoAnne or similar. She did not care at all this inconvenience and almost laughed it off. We will not be back. Too much completion. Petco pls train your staff on customer service and communication. read more

We love getting our two French Bulldog puppies groomed at this Petco. We love Morgan - she's the best, so sweet and takes such great care of our pups! They're always so happy and perfectly clean and groomed when we pick them up. (The whole staff is always so wonderful and welcoming too.) Their prices are also VERY reasonable compared to other groomers in the area, and they take care of all of our grooming needs! I feel very safe and comfortable leaving our pups in their hands. read more

I would not recommend this store. On August 27th I was in there in the AM to get shots for my puppy. While checking out I asked a tall blonde associate named Tyler how to apply my discount from their monthly service I pay pay. He currently responded check the website and then turned away. My friend asked him to explain and he said check the website and turned away again. He tried again and then Tyler turned his head away and asked for the next customer in line. We then asked for the manager and it turned out to be Tyler. What poor customer service. The associate in the next register turned to us and asked us how she could help us. She explained how to navigate the website so that we could obtain our discount. I plan on posting this on my Facebook and Instagram accounts to let all of my friends and family know what poor customer service is provided at this location. My friends at the dog park were shocked. This is referring to the Petco in Palm Desert on hwy 111 I would have agreed with the good reviews based on my first experience having my labradoodle groomed with Cheryl. Very caring, excellent job and professional. I returned today expecting the same welcoming spirit, but could not make an appointment with Cheryl as she was booked (as she should be!) The wanna be manager was grooming a dog who was shaking and so scared. I now understand why. After another very caring groomer took my dog to the back to wait for paperwork to be completed, I was verbally attacked by the wanna be manager. My price had been increased 40% because I was given a first time discount (unknown to me.) When I asked about it I was treated so rudely (the dog is now triple shaking!) I asked for my dog back. The other two employees were so embarrassed by this other employee......Let me know when she is fired and I'll be back. read more

I took my dog here a couple of times before and they were decent and seemed reliable cause they sometimes take same day appts. this last time I took him in he was afraid to even walk thru the grooming door. I didn't find it alarming until I picked him up and he was acting rather quiet and seemed almost sad. When I came home, I had seen deep nicks on his back that were bleeding as well as a very irritated neck which looked almost chaffed. It was then that I realized that my dog not only had a horrible experience but the groomers cut the shit out of him. Not to mention I had paid to get his nails got..though I'm sure you guessed, they didn't. There's no excuse for this and I will never take him here again. read more

I love coming here for my dogs food and play toys and treats. I had her groomed here for the first time and also her first time being groomed as a puppy. The groomer said to give her an hour and 2 hours went by and still no call. So i called and she sounded worried on the phone and told me to come "get her now" and so i went and she told me my dog didn't like to have her toenails cut. Well for one, it was her first time. For 2 as a groomer you should always expect a different outcome of a new timer dog who has never been groomed before. Her left front paw wasn't trimmed down at all. And both her back paw toenails were bleeding. All her toe nails were uneven and looked like she had hang nails. I felt so bad for my baby. The groomer didn't even bother to tell me this had happened. I noticed when i got home and that's exactly why I'm leaving this review. Sorry petco. I love your products but your grooming service sucks! As well as your groomer. read more

I took my Miniature Schnauzer to be groomed here and was totally unsatisfied! He's usually really good about going to be bathed or groomed, but when I went to pick him up he was terrified, shaking really bad and wouldn't let me put him on the ground. After looking at him, I noticed he hadn't had his eyes cleaned and his eyebrows were squared, choppy.... And I shouldn't really say "eyebrows" more like a unibrow! I will never take him back, I felt so bad for him for his horrible experience! read more

Took my shelter pup there for training classes. Worked with their dog trainer Tony. And got great results. He is very skilled at teaching the dog and the parents. I was skeptical at first about taking the dog there for training but it was the best decision i could have made. I highly recommend Tony and will be back if I get another dog. Our dog who was a rambunctious pup is like a different dog she is calm and attentive now. read more

Worst choice in the world for Grooming. They don't give your dog water, they put drops in your dogs eyes that irritate and make the whites red for hours and after excessively explaining that I have a VERY FURRY GOLDEN to get an accurate idea of the amount of time I needed to leave him (they kept him for 12:30 till after 4:00) they wanted me to bring him back for more torture the following day. They kept telling me how furry he was and how much work he was. All sorts of other excuses as to why he had to come back like the phones were really busy and the groomer had to go to lunch. The guy who worked on my dog actually told his manager while I was there, that he didn't want me to bring my dog back. Nice!! Maybe my dog licked him to much. He said he was great at grooming Chows and Sheppards, both pretty furry. you would think he would know how long it would take to groom a really furry dog. The icing on the cake came when I asked for a discount due to the inconvenience of having to come back. They refused to even consider this and ask me dumb questions like well where do you live, o that's not that far. Not the point and it's obvious there is no level of customer service training here. It's all about the money. I am not taking my dog back to have them finish. Keeping a dog for over 4 hours with no water????? I think I may just call Animal Control and have them checked out! read more

I was very disappointed with this time with the grooming. I made it very clear no hairs cut...that I just wanted bath, teeth brushed and nails clipped. It was $45 for my 11 lb. pup. They shaved his rear and all his long hair is gone off the back of his legs. What part of NO HAIR CUT did they not understand? I am very upset with how it looks. Looks like a baboon! We've been taking our Papillon here regularly for grooming every couple months for over a year. They are familiar with the breed and know all the frills to ask about to learn our preferred cut. Janae always does a great job, makes us feel comfortable leaving our pal Finn with her, and is friendly. Finn's haircuts are consistent with what we request and the value for a standard grooming package is perfect for our pet budget. The products smell nice and he is always happy when we pick him up. I've been able to request specific groomers and they always call promptly when he is ready. Recommended for grooming! read more

I live in Santa Clarita and I have tried most of the groomers in and around our area. We make it a point to get down to Palm Desert every month to six weeks for the soul purpose of having "Donna" groom our two little Maltese Mix dogs. She is wonderful with the dogs. She has given our 8 year old with the pointy ears the cutest most unique style. And the little one is kept looking like a Maltese puppy. Too cute. read more

I'm writing this review because my family took my dog into this store to get groomed and it was a horrible experience! The groomer (I think her name was Pam) was an older woman who definitely did not seem suited to work there. She had a horrible attitude towards not only my family but toward our dog! She couldn't seem to do the grooming without yelling at all of her co-workers and she was extremely rough with our dog. Excessively rough, actually. The whole experience with this woman was just...horrible. She was extremely rude to us, our dog, and the people she works with. She should not be working as a groomer. The rest of the store was perfectly fine, we had gotten some rawhide treats from their buffet and a couple of other things while we were there. Everyone was very pleasant and helpful, in fact everyone in the grooming area was nice and cheery EXCEPT the lady who did our dog's haircut and nails! Just our luck I guess. If I was management, I'd let her find a new job. To leave this review on a positive note, I would like to praise the people I remember. I think his name was Anthony, he was very friendly and playful while we were at the register leaving. The girls who checked us in before our bad experience were very nice (wish we could have had one of them as our groomer!) I think their names were Priscilla and Bethany. If you're planning to go to this store for a dog bath or haircut or even for your dog's nails, I really urge you to avoid Pam! read more
