I wonder if anyone works in this store. I wonder this because every time I go in here I never get any help. I was looking to purchase some fish (which you can't exactly just pick off of a shelf and bring to the cashiers), I had one picked out, and nobody was there to ask me if I needed help or if I had any questions. I had to be standing there for 7 minutes. Now I get that sometimes people use pet stores as zoos to just stand there and look (especially fish and lizards) but there weren't any employees in the whole fish/rodent/reptile section to even offer assistance. The sad part is this place has a really incredible selection of fish that look very healthy, well-kept and most importantly NOT overstocked (hence the two stars). I'm regularly looking to purchase fish, insects, and dog/cat related items but I will never spend my money here because apparently they do not want people spending money in their store. I'll just walk across Queens Boulevard to the competition where I am always engaged right away. Very disappointing. read more

I took my Yorkie to get a bath and nail trim along with teeth cleaning. I dropped her off and and was told to come back in an hour and 30 mins. After waiting an hour and 30 mins I got a phone call and was told that my dog was not cooperating so they couldn't trim her nails or do any of the services that were requested. This was very odd because I took her to another groomer who did all of the above without any issues. She is well behaved and listens to directions. Before dropping her off she was happy and jumped on the staff who took her in. When i picked up my dog she seemed very sad and was not acting like herself. I've never saw my dog feeling sad or strange before. Don't ever take your dog to this location for grooming. I strongly believe my dog was mistreated by one of the groomers at this location. read more

No matter how busy it gets here there is always just one register open!!! Covid is a lame excuse for this! The manager is no where to be found. Long lines standing o. Your feet with goods in hand sucks? Let's go people. Also if you see a person standing in line behind your current customer, cut the chit chat! I usually don't leave reviews but I had a pretty bad experience with this petco and the staff there. Not only do they sell dead reptiles to there customers and severely dehydrated and lethargic reptiles , they were extremely rude and disrespectful to me and other customers. 2 young girls in there early 20's they are Hispanic fair skin, and specifically a manager , she's Spanish tan skin and short , they gave me nasty attitude and just overall not a good experience all because I asked a few times when I would be receiving help with a lizard , they started being disrespectful and rude first after I pointed out that they sell dead animals. Fairly large store. Decent selection. They had some items that Amazon and Chewy didn't. Prices are mostly worse than Amazon or Chewy, but a few items were cheaper. The shelves are 50% dog products, 30% cats, 20% other. The vet/grooming center was tiny and surrounded by dogs on leashes on a Sunday. Not a good place for cats. Walk-ins not recommended. I arrived with my cat from other country and when I was in Petco a few days ago I had a problem with choosing dry cat food for my Maine Coon. Customer service really sucks at this place. I took my dog to the groomers and i had canceled the last 3 appointments due to personal reasons and the FIRST thing the lady (Ruby) that checked me in said was "I'm surprised you even showed up". Confused at first i asked her what she was talking about and she said because i had canceled before. Mind you i always canceled in advance when i knew i wouldn't be able to make it. Life happens sometimes. Its one thing to speak to me about canceling but a whole other story to just be snarky about it. Then my dog comes out with the WORST cut she's ever gotten. One side is clearly longer than the other. Around her face and ears is just very badly done. I have taken her here before and never had a problem. Except for today. 7/3/2018 Today at Petco I could not find the can food my cat likes and when I saw a box with plenty of them I opened and took some. A girl working close to me came over and tells me not to open the box. Instead of showing me where the lose cans where she was angry because I could not understand why an open box annoyed her. She decided to call immediately the manager. I am 78 years old and all these years I have never seen any manager behaved in the manner she did. She took the open box and threw forcefully the rest of the can in the floor telling me since it is open is going to the garbage. In another words she is trying to tell me since I open, now it is ending up in the garbage. It does not make any sense to me. read more

Came in here to just look around and pretty much all the betta fish looked unwell, most had fin rot and just seemed stressed. Please take care of your bettas. All the other fish seemed to be in pretty clean tanks and well taken care of except for the bettas. read more

So stopped in here for first time. This place is huge!! I ran into the manager Melody she used to be in a different Petco. Was so nice to see her here. She helped me again with a dog food question and then showed me treats and gel to improve the quality of my dogs kisses as he's a little stinky breath. The kid that rang me up was nice and pretty friendly, made sure I used my Petco Member card. Also there was a young man that said hello when I first came in but not sure who he was There's doors on both sides of stores which I didn't realize. I went out a different door than I came in so I had trouble finding my car and had to wander around parking lot , so embarrassing when you forget where you parked. I purchased a large bag of cat food and some bowls and a place mat. The cashier was rude and extremely careless packing the items. She did not double bag the cat food which resulted in the shopping bag breaking the very moment it was handed over to us. She threw the bowls in the bag and I thought they were broken and folded the plastic mat in four places like a napkin!! I called the manager to complain and I never received a follow up phone call. I called to inquire about grooming for my pup and spoke to the manager Melitza, she said that we could come in. I got there 5 minutes later and she was nowhere to be found,which made it difficult for me to receive assistance at the grooming department considering the fact that she had not communicated with them. Finally after serveral attempts in contacting her, she appeared and was very rude and disrespectful. SHE LACKS UNDERSTANDING AND BASIC COMPATENCE, SHE ALSO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE IN RESOLVING ANYTHING. I give them two stars, only because the first time they groomed my husky, the job was divided between two groomers and the results were nice. However, the cashier was very preachy and gave a 20 min lecture on how my husky wasn't cooperative. NEWS FLASH!! Huskies are notorious for not liking water or being de-shedded. Petco groomers do not believe in using a muzzle. The one I provided was a soft Velcro muzzle. So when the inexperienced groomer got a little nipped or growled at( not bitten), I didnt feel sorry for them. It's like they were asking for it. The groomers were whining the entire time, which was extremely annoying, and also had the worst fearful energy and may I say laziness ...they left my husky's paws without trimming the fur or nails the second time. They also tend to bail out and call out sick on your appointments. They also use the tactic of how difficult and grueling the grooming session was, just to get more tip money out of the client. This is YOUR JOB!!. Stop being short of panhandling, it's embarrassing and the clients can see right through it. Do not go there!! read more

This place at the beginning was very good, over time the grooming area became a crap. I have taken Sophia to have her hair cut and on all three occasions they did a bad job, of course they offered me a discount for their mistek but after they tried to charge extra for service I did not requet. Today I had an appointment to cut Sophi's hair but it turns out that they gave me the wrong date and as always, they offered me a discount for the bad service. I do not intend to return to this place and I will recommend to all my friends on Facebook to go somewhere else. The grooming service is pathetic. read more

I am very unhappy with this Petco location. I been to other petco's within queens and have always been a satisfied customer. I was happy when this location opened because it was close to home. After signing up my dog for training classes and having the classes cancelled already 3 times. I find this ridiculous and why am I not being called when classes are cancelled is beyond me. The management here are irresponsible. Also the grooming salon did a horrible job with my dogs haircut. They were very sloppy! Rushing to do the job I could tell because his paws were undone. I was told by Krystal he had knots but it wasn't true. They just shaved him and didn't bother to clean it up. I had to come home and even out his paws. They offered me 10% off the haircut which I find ridiculous that they even charged me $78 when the job wasn't even done. Never take your dog here unless you want bad service. read more

Ok, one of the staff members ( dark hair, looks 19-22, she wore her hair in a bun today) was very rude. She showed me her attitude for absolutely no reason. When I told her that I had a Rewards Card that I'd like to use (since she didn't ask me about my Rewards Card, unlike the other cashiers who always do at Petco), she rolled her eyes at me and gave me a nasty attitude. I was being very polite towards her but after that, my mood just got bad because of your staff member. She sighed loudly to even help me take out the fish. I find this petco very nice. If I ever have a question about what's going on with my guinea pigs or birds, I always come here. I live about two blocks away which makes it so much easier for me. I got 2 guinea pigs from here and the lady was super helpful. But I got bird from here and it died with a very short life span. Overall I find it great, easy, and convenient. This location is new to the area and serves its purpose. The issue is trying to find sales help or a cashier in the store. No one is ever around when you need them. The same goes with attempting to schedule grooming. The phone goes unanswered and when you leave a message the call back takes over 24 hrs. They also need to be consistent with pricing. I take my dog for a full bath and yesterday was informed price when up from $37.00 to $45.00. They should inform the customers prior to the service. Also, they forget the service you request and add on other items you do not want. The manager needs to get on track and pay more attention to the employees and how things are handled. It is convenient and they do a good job but service issues will cause me and many more to stop going to them. I switched from the College Point location because of convenience but may end up going back there. read more
