I have to start this off with Jessica is incredible! My husband and I got our welsh terrier pup back in August, and let me tell you it has not been an easy 8 months. We encounter many issues with our puppy and cried ourself's to sleep every night. We decided to take her to puppy classes at petco. We met Jessica and had a great first class. After the first class my puppy started to signs of strong aggression. My puppy would attack every single dog in the class. We told Jessica we were going to have to give our dog away because it was becoming to hard to control her aggression. She disliked this idea and told us she would be willing to help us with our dog. She helped us every step of the way and our dog has improved so much. We still have a lot of work but I'm just thankful for all the work she put into our dog. Now, onto the grooming part of this review. I also have Jessica groom my Penny. My pup is pretty strong and can get out of control every once in a while. Penny is a welsh terrier and has a standard look to her. I have jessica wash and groom her every two weeks and she always comes out looking fantastic. All in all, I love this Petco. Questionable staff working here. Management is quite poor. I didn't use my card at all except at Petco and the ATM at work for two months. The card number was stolen and $1000 charges racked up in a Las Vegas Target. Husband and I are 100% convinced it was the cashier guy at Petco.... I went to a Petco in Pasadena on Arroyo Parkway. I purchased multiple guinea pigs from,this location and i ended,up getting one with ringworm and she was still under warranty. The manager Larry said that they will treat her but i don't get to keep her and that it will take 4-6months to cure. Also that they send their animals to south shores. So I called the vet and they dont even deal,with petco, also I did my own research and my guinea pig is 100% all lesions gone and her hair is already grown back and it took only 3 weeks. read more

This is a great store. I go there very often to buy fish and fish supply. Their aquatic manager and Ian are very competent and knowledgeable. I would review the store if it weren't for them. I used to bring my yorkie here about three years ago and they did an amazing job. When I brought him here recently, I was super disappointed. They didn't get the yorkie face cut right nor did they bother with the nails! I don't know what happened but sadly I'm now stuck looking for a new groommer. read more

I really like this petco. The staff is very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. They always have what you're looking for. The shopping center is sometimes crowded but I always manage to find a spot right in front. Then you can pop over to sprouts and pick up some goodies for home. If you need pet food, pet cleaning products, dog toys or treats just come here because they have it all! read more

In preparation for a new puppy I had decided to get all the puppy goods we would need in a large Petco.com order. After racking up almost $500 in an online order I hit "Submit" and anxiously awaited all the fun toys, food, and puppy training tools that our new family member would use. Unfortunately, as often happens, some of the items either turned out to not be needed or didn't fit the product description so I needed to return some items to my local San Pedro, CA store. The first time I brought back a few toys that I could tell would just be too big for our pup. Karina (?) was amazingly helpful and understanding as Petco.com's order page recently changed so she was able to make the return by reviewing my order through my phone (just to make sure the proper barcodes & prices were processed back to my card). i was very happy with how efficient and helpful; she deserves 5 stars. However, nonetheless, I felt as if it were having to go way out of her way to help me with something that should be very simple. (There are no receipts shipped with orders-only packing lists- and at the time, there were no receipts online-just the order confirmation email which itemized everything by price) Anyways, low and behold after getting our puppy I realized there were yet a couple more items that were unecessary so I once again, went back to Petco in San Pedro, CA. This time, in an effort to make the process more streamlined, I had printed out my full itemized order, with prices, and brought it in to the store. As it normally is on a Saturday, Petco was a mad-house. I waited patiently in line until it was my turn. I got up to the counter where an associate named "Quinn" was working. I briefly told him that the items were ordered online and that I was going to need to return them as I handed him my full order printout. Before he even looked at the printout he huffed and let out a huge dramatic sigh. He quickly flipped through the printout pages and immediately stated with an atitude, " How am I even supposed to know how you paid for this?" I explained that I had the credit card I used right there in my hand and that the method of payment would also be outlined if he looked up the order number (listed on the printout-obviously). Again, Quinn looked at me in disbelief. He then very rudely stated that to "look that information up would take forever, probably at least 10 minutes." So, I asked Quinn, " Karina was able to help me a few weeks back and it only took a few minutes to get everything processed, can you help to get these returned?" At this point it was very clear Quinn did not want to help. Quinn stated, as he's motioning to the customers, "Look at how many people are waiting, its going to take forever to help you." At this point it was clear that it wasn't that he couldn't help me, but didn't want to. I waited in line just like everyone else to do a simple return and had all the information he would have needed to process the return, but he refused. Lesson of the day: ordering crap on Petco.com is only good as long as you don't have to return in; and Quinn is a complete jerk. I don't like to call people out and I try to give them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe it was a bad day? But honestly, he was just plain rude. read more

Didn't like this store at all. Rude employees that looked like they couldn't give a damn about their jobs. I came in asking for a specific brand of pet food. Employees ingnored me and were rude. Weren't knowledgeable. This store looks so depressing.....hope they close it soon, and hire different employees. read more

I have brought my puppy Sasha (Akita) since she was 9weeks & I have never had a problem till today. When I came in the girl immediately did a high pitch voice which cause Sasha to pee in excitement. The lady looked at me & said you need to clean that up. I was like no problem but I could tell she was annoyed with me. So I left her & when they called me to pick her up I was on my way. When they again called to tell me she pee so they're charging me $6 & I was like ok. When I got there I went to the front to get the paperwork & the guy was sooo rude to me cause he talked about me like I wasn't there. Telling his coworkers she here to pay & kept ignoring me. He finally gave me the paperwork so I could pay. When I went to the register I looked at the paperwork & it said anxious & needs training. When I went back to get her I was expecting an explanation but instead the guy hand me the leash. As soon as I got home poor Sasha ran to get her water bowl which explained her being anxious. When I went back to look at her,she threw up. These people were rude to me & they stressed out my baby. I refused to take my furry child there ever again. read more

A lot of people have a lot of negative things to say about this store. I've never gotten my dog groomed here and I do think some of their products can be pricey, but my dog is currently getting trained by Jessica and she is doing a great job with him! she had given me a lot of knowledgable tips when I came in to buy some things to keep my dog from biting the drapes. All but one of the encounters I've had with their staff had been great ones. The only suggestion I would have for them is to get more staff around to offer the customers for help. That would save a lot of time for people like myself that have never had a dog before. Sometimes it's a little hard to find someone. Other then that they are doing great! read more

My review is for Stephanie one of the employees at Petco. My husband and I were in the store around 6:30 pm on 1-20-14 A very rude and loud customer was barking at Stephanie as she was at the cash register demanding some help, while she kept here composure and stayed sweet and polite as she was ringing us up, and the other people in line . We left the store as we could see and here the lady barking and starring Stephanie down, and anyone else for that mater (including us) all the while making rude remarks. We are new dog owners (a cute as can be King Charles) and live right up the road from Petco and it has become as regular a stop as our weekly grocery run to Sprouts! Yes, Petco is typically more expensive then other places - but I some of the employees here are top notch. On one of my first stops for some toys and treats for the puppy, the employee stopped the trasnaction whipped out their phone and looked up the items I was buying. She found them on Amazon and price matched. This actually started to happen pretty often there. We needed a Sliding Door Dog Door insert which they had for $199 - Amazon has it cheaper. I showed this to the cashier and yes - they price matched...taking a pretty good sized discount. I also bought food here for our dog and he HATED it..So I took it back and they returned it with no problem. It seems like the customer service here is pretty good and especially in recent months the employees have been really helpful. Going to try out the grooming next.. read more

I bring my dogs here for grooming. My pitbull/boxer hates the water. But apparently, he loves Jessica. He is so relaxed and calm when he arrives here, not like he is if we ever try to bathe him at home. Jessica really cares about the dogs, and takes time to make sure they are well taken care of. Our puppy is a regular at PetCo. From the training classes to the grooming we always receive the best of care. We attended 2 separate puppy classes with Jessica being his trainer. The training was exceptional and the advice even more worthy. Having a puppy wasn't always easy but having Jessica as your back up made the process easier. She does amazing grooming as well. Takes her time and you never have to worry how your dog will look when you arrive to pick him up. I always have the best experience at PetCo and the best part is our puppy always looks forward to having a visit with his PetCo friends. read more

I have an English Bulldog, and as anyone whose ever owned an English Bulldog realizes, they require much upkeep and special attention (creases and skin allergies). I adopted my dog Rambo and was asked by the previous owners to keep up on his monthly grooming at Petco. I quickly realized why they were so adamant about continuing to bring him to Petco and ask for the groomer Jessica. As soon as we walk into the store, Rambo begins bouncing up and down with excitement (he's too fat to jump), and eagerly heads for his kennel to await his excellent grooming. Jessica does a great job at caring for my English Bulldog's special skin care needs and when I arrive to pick him up from his grooming, the once foul smelling pooch is transformed into the show dog he really is. Bottom line, Jessica does a great job and really seems to care about my pet. I wouldn't take him anywhere else. read more

Amy the groomer was HORRIBLE and extremely condescending. I will never go to her again!!!!! When I scheduled the appointment I was told they were short a groomer so it took a few days to get an appointment. In the meantime I gave the dog a bath but still needed the hair cut. Amy didn't cut the hair because she claims my 10 pound dog was being aggressive. She left me a message so I called her back and said don't bother with the bath, I'll come pick up the dog. When I arrived she had already bathed the dog and charged me for it. The manager was absolutely useless. but at least he wasn't rude and condescending like AMY!!!!!!!! Just wanted to say this Petco is great. Larry in Aquatics is awesome! Went above and beyond which definitely is rare these days. He was knowledgeable & helpful in his field. I have come to love this store and its staff. After adopting my boy Gunny who had been abused for years before I thought I would struggle with getting him to be more social with other dogs and people. Luckily I met Jessica who trains and grooms and she has surpassed my wildest expectations. I highly recommend her for any of your pets needs. My Gunny finds so much joy in just going by to visit and honestly if I left the decision up to him he would probably stay with her all day. Not excluding the other staff that greet Gunny and myself with smiles and small talk every time, I also find them very helpful and always willing to go out of their way to accommodate me and any of my needs. I truly am appreciative of all the members of this store and all they do for my Gunny. Keep up the good work! read more
