I call 3 times at 10610 NW 19th St, Doral, FL 33172, United States. I was trying to ask a simple question. "What can I do with my fish if I want to change the aquarium that I bought 6 days ago because I did not like it?". The first time the gentlemen did not know how to answer the question and I kindly told him to pass the phone to the fish section employee, and he hung up on me. Then I call the second time and another employee answer the phone, and when I ask the question he rudely talking, starts to say that I cannot change the aquarium and I told him that it was untrue because I have 30 days to see if I was satisfied with the product or not. later he said that just put the fishes in a bucket or a supermarket bag. I was shocked, I told him to pass the phone to the manager and hung up on me. I call piss off for the 3rd time and the same guy answer and I told him to put the manager on the phone and it turns out that the manager was the one that hung up on me the first time. It all came together, I realize that it was expected that the second guy treats a customer like that if he sees the one who has to lead by example doing the same thing. read more

This store has come a long way since I started shopping here three years ago when I moved to the area. It used to be so dirty and the staff seemed unhappy to be there. There's usually a couple different people at the front that keep the lines shorter. At times they appear understaffed, but are still friendly. I've always taken my dog here for classes and grooming, and never had an issue. There's definitely more variety than the smaller stores. read more

I think they need to hire more people as they often seem understaffed. It is a chain. I have gone to the grooming salon 3 or 4 times with my pug, and the staff is very friendly and helpful, and I appreciate that. I'm posting this review of the San Rafael Petco based on the dog training classes conducted by Alex Leed. His positive training approach was nothing short of professional, engaging and interactive. Alex was not only hands on but educated my girlfriend and I on the nuances of simple commands that garnered great results. Our puppy was a rescue and throughout the training our new puppy gained confidence, comfort and fun. Alex cared about the overall training of our puppy inside the store and out, He was pleased that we took his instruction and applied them at home. This place is horrible!! Do not take your dogs to groom or nail trim. i have seen the workers hurt the dogs physically. i went to take my small dog for a nail trim the lady was not aware i was watching she kept turning the dogs leg a way it shouldnt be and kept holding her very tight not gentle what so ever. people NEED training . i went in super quick to tell her to be gentle and she took her off the table and handed her to me saying she couldnt cut them anymore. I always seem to bring my pups in for a nail trim when Taryn is there and she is great. It's convenient....they always try to accommodate a walk in and it's very inexpensive. My dogs are fine with getting their nails trimmed because Taryn is gentle and quick. read more

Worst grooming experience EVER. A lot of issues setting up and them keeping an appointment -- should have seen that as a sign it wasn't meant to be. When Molly finally did go in for the appointment at 8:30AM (and the only dog there at that time btw), I was told it would only take 3-3:30 hours, 4 tops. I know how Petco works as I use to take Molly there in the City, so I know that they work on a dog, put it in a cage, work on another dog, and repeat. I hate this method as it means my dog is in a cage longer than needed, but we were desperate because our fabulous groomer moved away, foxtails are out and Molly needed a haircut. Plus, the Petco in the City always did a great job. Anyway, fast forward 3 hours, and I call to check on her status. They told me she wouldn't be ready until 1:30 at the earliest! That would have been 5 hours! They said all Molly had had done in 3 hours is a "pre-groom" and bath. I told them this was unacceptable and would be picking Molly up at noon. They basically made all kinds of excuses and blamed me for making an appointment on a Saturday and the fact that they overschedule and understaff. When I got there, they said nothing. No apologies. Nothing. Just handed me Molly, who looks ridiculous. Apparantely, "pre-grooming" means cutting off chunks of hair here and there (honestly, no rhyme or reason, some places she didn't have any matting or anything). Ugh, never, ever, ever going to a Petco again. You can't even say its worth the cost. They would have charged more than my froufrou Mill Valley groomer would have charged, and Molly would have been in and out in under 2 hours. read more

With a variety of toys, treats, apparel, pet food, and animals for purchase this pet store is fun and a pleasure to visit. Would highly recommend. Prices are reasonable, location is convenient as the store is part of a shopping center where there is both a grocery and pharmacy store. As you pick up tonight's dinner and some cough drops and allergy medicine, if you have pets at home enjoying stopping into this Petco for a rewarding shopping experience. read more

I just moved here from the north bay - which has a wonderful Petco in Walnut Creek. Thank goodness that there is a good Petco in Novato. The San Rafael Petco is full of surly and curt staff. Even the supervisors do not seem to care. My family and I will not be going back. Our last visit put the final nail in the coffin. My daughter asked for help in the fish section from the cashier 3 times in 20 minutes. No one came to assist. My daughter has been treated rudely on each visit - and when I have finally went to ask for assistance, the cashier was flip to the point of rudeness. When I spoke with the Supervisor, she made it obvious that she did not care. (By the way there were 3 staff and one supervisor present and only one other customer.) Petco needs to do a major overhaul of the staff. Avoid it until then! read more

I feel awful for all living creatures in this store. As others have mentioned, the fish tanks are a real horror. Years ago, I bought a baby corn snake; a few days later I realized she was infested with mites. When I reported the problem, the person I spoke with didn't apologize (I ended up with a vet bill and had to replace all my substrate), he acted like it wasn't a big deal. Thankfully, they don't carry live reptiles anymore. I don't shop here often, but each time there's junk piled in the aisles and the majority of the employees are either apathetic or rude. read more

I've been getting my dogs nails trimmed here for quite a while...They have cut his quick multiple times which is traumatic but he doesn't even yelp. I changed to the grinder today and the guy that was doing the trim totally manhandled my dog until he finally yelped out in pain. I asked him what he was doing. He responded "he's not bleeding". Turnover and training are a problem as well. I rarely see the same people between trims. Most of the other groomers at least treat my dog well...I will never return. read more

I recently took my dogs in for a bath and was not happy with the results. What I am extremely happy with is the follow up and service that followed. After I wrote in with my comments I was immediately contacted by Petco to bring the dogs back for a grooming. They worked with me on schedule and set me up for success so that I will continue to be a repeat customer. Mistakes happen it is how you deal with them that speaks to a company. I am enrolled in puppy training with my 7month old Golden Lab. I cane in the store for a choke collar and I met Sonja & signed up for classes. She is amazing. We learn how to teach our dogs with praise & treats to do what I never thought possible like heeling while walking, sit & stay & to come when called. I highly recommend the classes! Petco doesn't always get the reviews it deserves. I'm taking a training class there now and Tesia is our trainer. She is fantastic! I can't say enough about her great attitude, knowledge and over all love for animals. She has taught me so much already. I will be taking as many classes as I can with her. I wish I could give this location 0 stars. I've been a customer here for 5 years. This past year it's taken a severe decline in customer service. Not only that but the pet neglect is very appalling. Not only does the grooming salon (particularly Taryn) give any regard to my pets, she seems to not have 'any record' my dog was ever there. I've taken my pets here every month the past 5 years, Taryn even trimmed my dogs nails multiple times. I've only had to bring her my pets rabies records about 7 times. When I mentioned that to Taryn, she said 'I don't care, my computer says otherwise'. I've also learned today that she's the manager of the grooming salon. Wow! I didn't realize somebody so incredibly rude and dismissive would be offered such a title. Amazing how the staff treats customers like this and doesn't know how to properly maintain pet and customer records. This is leading me to believe that our personal information is just disregarded and is accessible by anyone. Everybody has a different experience obviously, but, now that I'm reading these reviews on this location...this grooming salon is a complete nightmare. Thank you Petco San Rafael, you've lost a customer. I sincerely hope this company looks into having the staffing changed before there's a liability issue. read more

omg, I've taken my dogs here several time and had good experiences; however I'm now thinking twice about taking them back. Called today for an appt. and remember, I've taken them here many, many times over past 10 years--grooming dept. doesn't pick up, finally get someone on the main line who suggests I call back (no offer of taking message, or taking info); I ask "is there a manager in the store?"--of course I'm TALKING TO HIM!! He finally agrees to take the message for groomers. Grooming dept. calls back about 1 hour later and when I give my name and zip code she tells me "no record of that person, maybe it's under a different phone number?"...I've had the number I'm calling on for the last 10 years--she offers nothing, no way to look up the account other than a phantom number neither she nor I know we're listed under. and after reading the various horror stories of actual grooming experiences...I think I'm going to find another option--Wag Hotel's prices for grooming is about the same and the reviews are much better. read more

I went to the Petco grooming services only to try to save a few bucks on grooming my Labradoodle. They are the reason the saying "you get what you pay for" was invented. They give lousy cuts, groomed my dog between the eyes down to the skin so he looked like a freak ( I didn't ever ask them to do any cutting or trimming, just a wash but they decided to do this and several other things so when I picked him up the price for grooming had doubled. I did the dog traing course with Barbara and she was nice and I learned alot. She recommended Justine only for grooming so I tried her and she was great. So two weeks ago I call and shes booked out two weeks so I book my dog an appt and two days before his appt the grooming manager calls and leaves a msg that the appt is cxd because Justine is on vacation. She also said they dont want to groom my dog anymore because he nips at the blow dryer and doesn't like the kennel (what dog likes being cages?) and they have a new policy that they dont take difficult dogs anymore. I call very upset because I waited two weeks for this appt , how did you not know she was on vacation!? Why did you decide all of a sudden you dont want to take my dog at the drop of a hat? My dog is a very sweet dog. They have no compassion what so ever for animals I have no idea why they are in this business.So then she tells methat Justine is the only one that would take him and that Justine was fired! Not only do they try to over charge you but they are liars as well! So the manager agrees to keep the appt and she would groom him herself and to be there at one oclock the next day. I didnt want to because of the bad grooming experience the first time but I was desperate. It was going to be in the 90's and he was so furry and hot! So my husband drives all the way from Fairfax to drop him off and they say they cant take him, his appt was cancelled and sent him away!!!! I had arranged my whole work schedule and my husbands to get him to grooming! You can imagine what happened after that! DO NOT GO TO PETCO SAN RAFAEL!!! I will never set foot in a Petco again if its the last Pet Store on earth! read more
