We booked a grooming appointment for our dog weeks in advance. We also double-confirmed our appointment the day before, as required by Petco's minimum 24-hour cancellation policy. Five minutes before our appointment they phoned and said "We are cancelling your grooming appointment." Five minutes. And there was nothing but an "I'm sorry." No offer to make anything right. No,"Gee sorry you scheduled time in your day." Just, "You can come back." Nor regard for the fact that we are busy working people and have to schedule our lives. No comped anything. Just a lot of stammering and a lot of excuses. Zero customer service and satisfaction. In fact, all their front-end employees have needed a stiff lesson in customer service every time we've gone in there. Most of them are rude. (Except Amanda, the head groomer.) So in addition to zero customer satisfaction and customer service, and the lack of following their own appointment cancellation policy, the groomer hasn't yet followed our instructions regarding the grooming of our dog, taking a lot of creative license, when given explicit instructions. If you have another option, do not bring your dog's to Petco for grooming. You just never know what you're going to get. Plus, why buy at a big box store when you can get local service? read more

I am a sucker or pet stores. Nothing like the opportunity to play with a puppy that is waiting for adaption, or to watch the love birds flying around. The same time, I have to hold myself from adapting a dog each time I stop at the store. It is hard to say now when those cute faces staring at you and begging you to take them home! I try to limit my visits to the store because my house is already full with dogs and I don't have any space to adapt another one. I like having options and was happy to hear that Petco just opened a store in Sparks and they were offering 20% the entire purchase on the opening weekend, so naturally had to take Elsie on a shopping spree. The store was lively and full of activities. There were pet adoptions, demonstrations, treats for the pets. Compared to other locations this one is on the small size but it's very well stocked and organized. In fact i prefer this size as it's easier to navigate, find what I'm looking for and still have time to explore and shop around. The store was busy but the staff was very attentive and friendly, constantly acknowledging clients and pets and offering help. They also were knowledgeable and familiar with where everything was at the store. Elsie had a blast, meeting other dogs, getting love from shoppers and treats from the staff. We had a scheduled appointment for this past Monday, but I hadn't received a reminder phone call/text only an email. I needed to get my dog in for a good bath and brushing since my regular groomer had canceled my appt and wouldn't be able to get my boy in for a few weeks. I decided to try Petco Grooming on Lincoln Way. Everything was just wonderful from making the appt to getting my dog all cleaned up. When I went to pick him up he was so happy and just had a big doggy smile on his face. He was so nice and white and his fur was so much softer than before. Since my 1st dog looked great I brought my 2nd dog in for a grooming and he usually is very skittish and afraid of new situations. I was so surprised at how great he did. He looked better than any other place I have taken him to. The blueberry bath smells wonderful and my dogs continue to smell great several days after the bath. I will only use this Petco Grooming for now on. If you need a good groomer for your furry kid then you will want to try them out. Worse service in history of service I have taken my 4 dogs there for years. Even paid $400 for training of our dog. When you pay $400 for training you're actually paying $400 for 1 hour of constant treats being given to your dog. They now spend more time trying to find excuses and reasons not to groom your dog and blame it on new policies. My dog does not like her nails trimmed and I tell them do not touch her nails. I'm so incredibly disappointed by this Petco grooming.. I've taken my dog there 3 times to get groomed (bath only) and never once did they tell me she struggled during the appointment. Everytime I came to pick her up that would say oh she did so good with the teeth cleaning! You'd think if she struggled during any part, they would let me know. So when I called today to schedule her again, the incredibly condescending girl who I talked to stated there was "a note" on her file saying she "struggles with the duration of the appointment" and that they recommend her coming in every 4-6 weeks. Again, NO ONE EVER TOLD ME THIS. EVER. I explained that to her, and she said (again super condescending) that they could "try" another time but if she struggles again then they can no longer take her in. Like wtf? I asked specifically what she struggles in and she said the bath and dryer portion. Like, are all dogs supposed to be angels to get groomed there? My dog is extremely non-aggressive so the most she could do is try and jump out of the bath every once in awhile but like, come on.. your job is literally giving dogs baths, you'd think they could handle a little struggle. It had been 3 months since her last visit, so since I wasn't in that 4-6 week recommended time frame now they're threatening to no longer accept her there. What a load of crap. Maybe if they were to tell me this during her last three appointments I would have scheduled her sooner! I always tip the girls super fat too because I know she's a big dog and a lot of work and they typically do a good job. Safe to say we will never be back. Ang is amazing! I've literally never had such a great experience with any Petco groomer or petsmart groomer for that matter. She went above and beyond to make sure our pup was well taken care of and healthy and made great suggestions on how to care for her anxiety dandruff. I always go to the grooming salon for my pet and always have the same service. Today is very exceptional because I scheduled a bath and hair cut but was told when they called back that they only scheduled bath. I went to complain with the Manager TJ instead of apologizing he pointed that it was an error on my end because i did schedule it right. Andrew who always does my pets grooming was not there when I arrived. Instead of apologizing they blocked me on all Petco so I cannot have grooming service with them. How rude!! Wow!! Just Wow!! I was not expecting this Petco to be so nice! When you walk in it kind of looks like a fancy pet store. I understand that everything looks new and clean because they only recently opened, but the set up had a lot to do with my impression to. They have a nice pet grooming area right next to their pet adoption area. I didn't see any cats in yet, but the "living" spaces looked much nicer than what I've seen at other pet stores. I really liked the pet training area they have. It's set up to look like a park. I'd be very interested to enroll my dog once our finances settle a bit because their prices are fairly decent. The employees were very polite and actually seemed knowledgeable when it came to pet questions. I found this even more so impressive compared to other experiences I normally encounter. I wouldn't say they were rude; it was more like they didn't enjoy their job in addition to not being able to answer product questions adequately or knowing what they carry. Quite the opposite case here! A young man pointed me in the right direction while searching for a chew toy for my dog. He even identified the exact brand and size most befitting a large breed dog. The store is well organized and everything I needed was easy to find. I have a purebred German shepherd that I only feed Nutro, because it is in my opinion: the best brand of dog food. They carried a wide variety of Nutro selections. My Duke is very happy with his dog food. I also got him a chew toy, a collar, and a new ID tag. I like the selections of tags they have. The tags themselves are really sturdy and they have many different ones to choose from. They carry sports themed ones, fancy jeweled ones, but I selected a digital camo for Duke because I was in the military. I like the aquatic area. It's kept very clean. Next time I come, I'll bring my boys so they can look at all of the fish. One of these days, we would like to get an aquarium, so this Petco will be the first place we look! read more

When taking dog to grooming he seemed very different after bringing him back (it was our first time taking him to Petco he is 3) usually we take him some other places but we decided to take him to this Petco but after he didn't want use to touch him and would cry very often. I don't know what they did there but I don't think they much patients with dogs. Also every time we take him there to get his food after that time he was groomed he shakes very much, but when I go the customers service is very nice with me . Being it was her first time, it took some time for them to get everything done, but I expected this for her first visit. I just moved into town. I was very nervous about the grooming salon. My keke has bad anxiety when other people try to hold her. Rite when I walked into Petco a women greeted me so cheerfully & made me feel comfortable instantly. I was so relieved when she introduced herself as the Grooming Salon Manager Amanda. Took my dog Pancakes in for grooming and a groomer in training Serena was the one who took care of him. He is a short haired dog so he did not need a cut but she did a lot of other things with him. He is rather nervous with new groomers but he took well to her to my surprise. I made a grooming appointment for my dog over the phone for Thursday at 6pm, the person I talked to said the appointment was made for Thursday. I showed up on time on Thursday with proof of rabies vaccination, and then was told my appointment was for Friday at 6pm, and that they close at 6pm on Thursdays. I was disappointed , but still returned the next day 10 minutes before my time, but then realized I forgot my dogs proof of rabies vaccination since this was her first time at Petco for grooming. I live down the street so went in to ask if I could be like 15 minutes late to go grab the proof and was very curtly told no that would make her too late and she's supposed to leave by 7pm. I told her a different staff had told me on Thursday that they close on Friday at 8pm. I don't understand why it's such a hassle to schedule an accurate appointment or why a staff would lie about when the grooming closes. But I'll no longer be going to this location. read more

Never had a problem with any of the sevices at this location. The dog trainer Breanna is tops and is a strong advocate for positive reinforcement training. She has helped me and my GSD Rocco several times with behavioral issues. I've only had Rocco groomed once but the grooming staff took time to do a check over on him, before they took him to the back for his bath and cut, so the could go over any concerns that they or I may have had. All things considered, I prefer the other major national pet supply chain, but since this Petco opened a couple of years ago just a few minutes from my house, I find it more convenient. Went in for a scheduled appointment at 12:30 got there a couple of minutes before and they told me that our appointment was made at 12:00 and that we were too late and that we could only be late 3 times or else they would not service anymore. We have a little chihuahua that does not bark/bite he has never had issues with any aggressive behavior. He went in just to get his nails clipped. When he was finally done they said he was acting very aggressive was biting their hands and went for the woman's face. They didn't finish his nails and was acting like he needed a muzzle. They said he was not allowed back because they have a no muzzle policy and they feared for their safety. I don't know what happened behind the glass (because noone can look in to see the work that they are doing) but I belief mishandling my dog could have been why he was acting "aggressive". I will never be going back to this Petco. If you want to go to a Petco that will actually take care of your animal go to the one on Northtowne. They loved him there and said he was "fantastic". This Petco needs to make sure their staff is not only trained on how to properly handle animals, but how to comfort when they are scared/nervous. read more

I've taken my dogs here multiple times over the last years, have easily spent over 2 thousand in services, and I will never be returning after todays service. They turned me away and refused treatment on two of my dogs, one large and one small, due to "new company policy", even though we have been there multiple times in the past. I feel like they were just highly understaffed and wanted to turn away any dogs they possibly could. Will never spend another CENT here or any other store in this chain. If I could give 0 stars I would. This is the rudest, most unorganized petco I have ever been to. I started going here when my dog was a puppy- I signed up for a puppy complete package and I did puppy 1 with no problems. Then my trainer quit and all of it went horrible. The new trainer was telling me that the first trainer did everything wrong and I needed to do more negative training. I couldn't even stay in the class so I pulled my dog out. It took 8 months to get a refund and all I could get is credit at the store. I am so disappointed and unhappy with this location. I took my dog there today for grooming this is the only place my dog has gone to get groomed. they changed the grooming staff and super timid girl comes out looks at my husky and pretty much goes inside and then another girl comes out with an attitude and says if I can't touch your dog she can't get groomed how ridiculous this is my dog is super friendly. This location really needs to work on customer service skills. We drove 120 miles to go to this grooming appointment, if your gonna change your rules then you should let customers know ahead of time before they waste there time coming here. I absolutely love this place! I've been to several other pet stores- and even frequented a different Petco before I came here. It's an entirely different experience, in the best of ways! Everybody is super friendly, and they've been able to help me with everything I need. Travis seems to be their aquatics specialist, and gave help in spades with my concerns with my aquarium. Sarah, their dog trainer, is absolutely amazing and I highly recommend her! Most of the managers seem super friendly and make it a very personal experience; they try hard to be welcoming, and it shows! My favorite part, however, is their grooming salon and the girls who run it! I've spoken to all of them, but I was extremely impressed by Alex and Alicia. They both knew their job and seemed to genuinely enjoy talking to me about my pup. Though I'm very picky, I was happy to leave my pup in Alex's hands- and would be comfortable leaving him with Alicia, too. They even helped me change my dog food (he was getting a Walmart brand and I've never heard anybody properly explain why that was bad for him before) and made sure I had what I needed to keep my pup from matting at home. In all, though the store is on the smaller side for a Petco, is was very neat and clean and the people there put in real effort to make my experience positive. Since our first visit, Amanda has worked with him to ensure he is always comfortable. She has even gone out of her way to rearrange her schedule so that our dog is the most comfortable during his grooming. We couldn't imagine taking him to anyone else. If you have a big dog don't waste your time trying to get grooming here. They will came up with a thousand reasons then told you that your dog is no longer welcome here. I got the hint when the first question they ask is what kind is your dog? but since my dog has been groomed at Petco when we live in Texas so when we moved we thought we will also go to Petco. I guess that is not the case cause this petco only groomed little dog. You can confirmed this with other reviews about this place and they seems to reject big dogs (Husky, etc.). Their entire staff also are not dog people which is weird since we thought if you work for petco you have to be a dog people. I will not give petco anywhere in the US any dime anymore. read more
