Enclosure too small, bedding and accessories dirty, NO PERCHES, food and water has been taken away and not returned in a timely manner
    Luca G.

This location was DISGUSTING. I am so sick of walking into pet stores and seeing mistreated birds. But to charge 250 for cockatiels despite jamming THREE of them into one SMALL cage with no toys is absolutely abhorrent and frankly there is NO excuse. Pictured is the cage. If you notice there's no food or water, which is because I pointed out that the water was neon green from bird poop and the manager made some weak comment about "today's deep cleaning day " and walked off with both bowls. This was taken a solid five minutes later while she was off doing something else. I get it, birds poop. But there aren't nearly enough perches in this inadequately sized cage, at least two of these birds has a tail that's been destroyed by too much time hanging out on a grate at the bottom due to nowhere to stand, another is missing toes likely from the nest as a baby, and the third has overgrown talons, again from inadequate perching. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!! This cage is disgusting, cramped, with no enrichment, and the staff evidently doesn't care. I found this after walking into the store immediately greeted by finding several dead bettas in their display. I walked out without buying the 40 dollars worth of cat food I'd grabbed and will NEVER be giving my money to this trash heap of a Petco.

They are now threatening legal action. I stand by my posts and have not made any false statements. TO THE OWNERS RESPONSE. Don't be sad about my review--be disappointed in yourselves as business owners. Do better. Everything written in your response directly contradicts what I was told in person. You stated that multiple attempts were made to contact me regarding this incident. That is false. No one contacted me at any point. Management only became aware of the issue after I reached out. You also claim my dog was properly cleaned and reference video footage. If such footage exists, please share it--you have my email. His condition upon pickup clearly indicated otherwise, as I spent 45 minutes cleaning feces from his paws once we got home. There is also no reasonable way this could have been "missed." My dog was wearing a large winter jacket that required staff to handle and touch all four of his paws in order to put it on. Staff were taking an extended amount of time before bringing him out, and another employee stepped in to assist with getting him ready. Given that level of handling, it is not credible that feces covering his paws went unnoticed by anyone who was paying attention. Regarding the padding, two staff members explicitly stated it was part of his care due to concerns about him falling as a senior dog. That representation was a key factor in my decision to purchase the Pawdemics service. Lastly, I appreciate the advice suggesting veterinary boarding. However, that recommendation could have been communicated during intake, during follow-up calls, or after I paid for an evaluation. At no point was this raised as a concern. You had no issue accepting my dog despite him being partially blind, deaf, and showing signs of dementia--until after something went wrong. Your response continues to contradict what was communicated to me in person. Again, if you have additional information or footage, please provide it via email. I am absolutely disgusted with this facility and my experience here. I was convinced to place my dog, Tito, in their "Pawdemics" service after being told he would receive constant surveillance and that it would be best for him as a senior dog. I was also promised a padded room for his comfort and safety. None of this was true. The room they described to me is apparently under construction, and instead my dog was kept in a cage with no padding anywhere on site. When I picked him up today, his paws were filled with chunks of feces. I was told he had an accident and that staff had cleaned him up -- clearly, that did not happen. I spent 45 minutes cleaning him myself once we got home. I don't understand how something like this could be "missed." When I raised my concerns, the general manager repeatedly stated that they have other dogs and cannot watch him consistently. If that's the case, why am I paying extra for a service that was sold to me as individualized, specialized care tailored to my senior dog? The explanation directly contradicts how this service was marketed. I asked to speak with someone above the general manager and was told there is no one -- that the owner does not interact with clients. That response alone speaks volumes. This was a complete misrepresentation of services and a very upsetting experience for both me and my dog. I would strongly caution anyone considering this place, especially if you are trusting them with a senior or special-needs pet.

Within just a handful of times of using the daycare service at DePAW (after 4+ years using a…read moredifferent doggy day care, weekly, without incident), our dog got bit and injured by another dog while under the care of DePAW, a bite that tore her ear, damaged tissue and wound up requiring her to be sedated and given stitches. When they called us to tell us about the incident, DePAW told us that another dog had 'overcorrected' ours, when she tried to play with a dog that didn't want to play with her. A professional dog daycare service needs to have the experience and knowledge to separate dogs before this happens - most often bites happen with uncomfortable dogs, not aggressive ones. It's clear that the other dog was uncomfortable in the situation they had the dogs in, and our dog got the worst of it. We feel this was a preventable accident and likely a result of either staff not recognizing the energies of the dogs under their care, or them taking on more dogs than they can handle at one time. A dog who is uncomfortable enough to seriously bite and injure another dog should not be in the same room as a playful dog who wants to initiate play with others. Perhaps even more disappointing on a personal level was the conduct of DePAW in the aftermath, and how transactional and impersonal our interactions with them have felt. When calling us to tell us what happened they never apologized for our dog getting hurt there (I am sure this is a liability thing they are trained to do) and they did not follow up afterwards to see how our dog was doing. We only heard from them after we sent an email expressing disappointment a week later - we did hear an apology then, to their credit. I'm sure we've signed a waiver giving away all of our rights in terms of compensation and vet bills, so we didn't even try to ask DePAW for help with the hundreds of dollars of medical bills we have incurred due to this incident, but they didn't even waive the $35 daycare charge for the day she got hurt. I guess a dollar is a dollar. I don't think I've ever taken the time to write a negative Yelp review when we've had a bad experience, particularly with local businesses, but given this experience I don't feel like DePAW is necessarily a safe or caring place to leave your dog and so for that reason I feel that people should hear our experience. Again, we've taken both our dogs to a different doggy day care for 4+ years on a weekly basis and always felt they were safe and well taken care of by people who were attentive and cared for the wellbeing of our pups. That's not at all how I've felt interacting with DePAW - it feels very much like they care about your dollars, not your dogs. I can't speak to their other services, and I'm sure there are people working here who truly love dogs, but I'd strongly recommend you look elsewhere for safer, more caring and less transactional daycare options.

When we returned to our normal work schedules we would leave her home for 6-7 hours a day. She seemed to be great in her crate or in the kitchen during the day but after a few days she started to wreak havoc in the house. Breaking out of her crate, two couches, tons of poop, and chewed window sills later, we reached out to Kendra and Scott for help. She had separation anxiety and needed to be taught how to be confident in herself again. Our pup went to the two week board and train program and came out a brand new girl. She was confident. She was calm. She was no longer anxious. We can now walk her without a leash if we needed to. She comes when called. Most importantly she doesn't break out of her crate, and finds it as a safe place now. Her training saved her and saved us. Our girl loves being able to visit Kendra every now and then and we have the confidence of boarding her with someone we trust. Someone who plays with our pup. She's not just locked in a crate all day. We are forever grateful for Kendra and Scott. Every single time someone asks how we got our girl to listen to us, or comments on how well behaved she is, we always tell them about Canine Peace of Mind. Any dog we rescue from here on our will take a two week vacation with Kendra and get the training they deserve. We have their advice for life too! Dog eating the cat poop? Called Kendra. New baby coming home? Texted Kendra. Need to make a part of the yard off limits? Kendra was there to answer all of our questions. We highly recommend the training and all services available after training is completed. The training is best thing we could have done for our girl Lola and our family.

We were dealing with food & high value treat /toy aggression, leash & barrier aggressions, and their coming on call (especially when chasing rabbits were more fun situations than coming to mom & dad) was unreliable at best. Enter Kendra at Canine Peace of Mind. Kendra worked with us on the best board & train program for each of them, customizing their 'stay' schedules based on progress and behavioral shifts. We sent both our dogs to CPM from Sept 2018 - Oct 2018. Kendra knows how tough it is to leave your 'kids' for that extended period of time (because she's done it too!) and made sure to send us picture and video updates on how each of them were progressing. Seeing the quick process made the distance so worth it. Fast forward to picking our pups up on handover day and the difference was remarkable. But it was on us to take those skills & discipline home with us. A couple months into having them home (Jan of this year), we recognized we still needed help (user error!) and Kendra did a house call, free of charge, to help us in reigning in & tightening up their training & our/their behaviors. What an immense help as we saw immediate change and are continuing to build that owner/dog trust together. Here's the from / to for our pups and our family: - From never being able to walk in public on a leash for fear of lashing out against another dog (even when across the street) to walking twice a day at heeling position for 2-3 miles a day, despite what we encounter. - From not having reliable recalls in the least, to trusting our dogs (and because we have grown into much more confident dog owners, trusting ourselves) to have them off leash. We love to go get the mail, take out the trash, etc. together with our dogs. - From breakfast & dinner times being HORRIBLE experiences due to fighting, low growling, & crate checking to having peaceful feeding times. - From having no control during high energy times to having a tool & command for them to go to a dedicated 'place' in any room to calm down and give each other (and us) space. I could go on. But what I would say is if you are encountering any of the above issues, please consider Canine Peace of Mind and their board & train programs. As working professionals that knew we didn't have the time or expertise to dedicate in order to get our pups where they needed to be, we are so happy we did. It has transformed the time we get to all spend together from dread to time that we look forward to because it's happy & enjoyable (which is why we all got these guys in the first place, am I right?). They also offer day care & boarding. We have taken them up on boarding a few times as we know that they get a bit more attention than any standard boarding and they are held accountable to their training just as much there as they are at home.

I spoke with Jennifer Creed, who seemed quite busy and didn't have much time to discuss details, but I still placed a $250 deposit for a seal bicolor kitten. About a month later, Jennifer sent me pictures of a kitten. When I asked a few simple questions about its traits and appearance, she suggested that I take a seal mitted kitten instead of the seal bicolor I had originally reserved. When I asked whether the kitten would look like the father as an adult, she immediately mentioned refunding my deposit rather than answering. That response made me wonder if a seal bicolor kitten was ever actually available. The quick offer of a refund, along with the limited communication and lack of patience, left a poor impression. Overall, I found the experience unprofessional and disappointing. I truly wanted this to go well, but based on how things were handled, I wouldn't recommend Midwest Ragdoll. Update: i never said i didn't wanted, you were so impatient and rude answering my questions and wanted to refund the amount. After that horrible experience we started searching for someone reputable. I already have two Ragdolls, but the breeder I got them from is way too far for me to drive since moving to Nashville. I was willing to drive back to the Chicagoland area if we found a great breeder. We did some research and Midwest Ragdolls came up. We contacted DR. Jennifer Creed regarding a seal mitted female, and she replied immediately that she had one for us. She is very reasonably priced. Although, communication wasn't the greatest when we initially requested photos, and other info., but she always sent us what we requested within a few days of asking. I'm going to be very transparent on this review because I wish someone had done this when I was reading reviews. A few things weren't making sense to me as far as age, and pickup of the kitten. I was very hesitant, and unsure if I would actually follow through with picking the kitten up on the date given based off of negative reviews I was reading during my 7 hour drive up to Chicago. I read that her kittens were malnourished, too early to go home, they weren't socialized well, and that she was using her veterinarian status to fool people. After looking at her website again, I noticed all the kittens, and adult cats looked healthy and well cared for. When I decided I was going to move forward and pick my kitten up I did just that. I can not emphasize enough how opposite those negative reviews are. DR. Creed has a beautiful property her kittens are born, and raised on. She was extremely welcoming, pleasant, knowledgeable, and my gorgeous seal mitted baby girl was perfect! She is extremely social, lovable, snuggly, playful, clean, and healthy. After, meeting Dr.Creed, I now know that the slight lack of communication wasn't intentional. She's a full time veterinarian, mom, and on the side breeds Ragdolls for the love she has for them. In all honesty, DO NOT second guess getting a Ragdoll kitten from Midwest Ragdolls. I promise you will not be disappointed.
