We have been bringing our dog here for grooming for the past 14 months, solely because our groomer, Jada, always did a wonderful job. Unfortunately, the management and corporate policies have forced us to find a new salon. During her last couple of visits, our dog accidentally peed by the register upon pickup. Instead of being understanding, the staff simply pointed to the cleaning spray and paper towels and told me to clean it up, not too big of a deal. On her last visit, the grooming took over six hours. When I asked if the dogs are given bathroom breaks during such long stays, I was told it is against corporate policy. Concerned for the well-being of the animals, I called corporate to politely suggest they reconsider this policy for pets left there for extended periods. Instead of taking the feedback, Petco chose to retaliate. When we arrived for our scheduled appointment today, Jada had to inform us that corporate had canceled our appointment and blacklisted our dog from being groomed because they "weren't comfortable" anymore and feared "other issues could arise." It is deeply disappointing that a massive pet care company would ban a loyal customer simply for questioning a policy that keeps dogs crated for six hours without a bathroom break. If they are this defensive over a basic question about animal welfare, it makes you wonder what else they are trying to hide. Take your pets elsewhere. read more

This is a conveniently located Petco that has pretty much anything you need for your pets. On this visit I was looking for reasonably priced grooming shears and found them. I also came across flexible pet bandage to deter chewing on a wound on my dog's leg. Everything was fully stocked, lots of selection and easy to find. Customer service was friendly and the store was clean. It's fun to pet the visiting dogs. read more

I really enjoy shopping at this location, especially when I have my dog, Java, with me. The store is always very clean and organized, although I wish the products weren't so crammed into the aisles here. I really think this store would be so much better with just a bit bigger building. Some aisles aren't the easiest to get down when there are others shoppers on the aisle. However, I can always find what I'm looking for, and Java really enjoys going down the snack aisle. The employees have all been helpful and nice, even when my dog isn't being the nicest. He can be a bit "stranger danger" at times, which is why I like taking him to places with other people and dogs so we can learn. The employees all seem to enjoy their jobs and employment and seem to genuinely care about animals, which is always a good thing in a pet store haha. The animals they have for sale all look extremely healthy, which is huge in my book. The cats they have for adoption also look extremely healthy and active. I recommend this location. Just wanted to share the horrendous experience that occurred at our local PETCO (Mid Rivers Mall, St. Peters) Brought our dog Olivia in for a shampoo/haircut, after 30 mins of dropping her off I received a phone call from PETCO informing me that Olivia received a little "nick" and needed to be picked up. When I arrived, the staff tried to hand Olivia over to me and she was bleeding from her leg, which had 3 staples!!! I understand accidents occur, but this was a large and deep laceration, not a "nick". Moreover the total lack of empathy to our pet and to me as a customer. Management treated this as a emotionless transaction and simply said they would cover medical bills and the grooming fee. This was total negligence, In the end we requested that PETCO provide us with a home grooming kit, so that she didn't have to endure the possibility of being injured again. The manager said if they had to compensate for every injury that occurs they would spend a fortune... I was shocked at his cavalier response and the frequency to which he stated PETCO negligently injures animals in their charge. I highly recommend this VETCO and the veterinarian, Dr. Ardnt. He took great care of my dog who had injured her wrist over two weeks ago. I was very impressed with his approach and the first rate care he gave my dog. I came back today because my dog is so often very anxious and I felt confident that he would be able to help her with that as well. He gave me a few options and I was happy to leave with a sound treatment plan for my doggie and the assurance that I can call and talk with him incase we needed to change anything. Also, the vet assistants were all so very helpful and kind. One even helped me out to my car by walking my dog, as I had my seventh month old grand daughter with me. read more

gerard or garard was very rude & unprofessional. he was clown on sunday early day Sunday 9/22. my wife & I were there to dash. 5 big 40 lb dog food begs. im 65 & have had a stroke. there was a girl there to help my wife lift those bags. when I expected gerard to help. he left the 2 girls to do the heavy lifting. he ran to the front where there was already some one there. I tracked him down & he said he had customers up front. I daid I am a customer & I had verbally tell him he needed to be a man & not a ahole & help the girls. Weird smell there today! Like some cages needed to be cleaned? Something was burning? I couldn't place it, but it was overwhelming. I got a yelled, "Welcome to Petco!" from 30 yards. Asked if I needed help finding anything. Nope. Just here for kitty litter. It was easy enough to find. I got three 40 lb boxes of the clumping kind. Arm & Hammer. On sale. Great price. They're a pain to load in the car, and I don't typically ask, but I asked for help getting them in the trunk. The awesome lady who was at the checkout put them all in for me, after suggesting I pull up to the front to make it easier. Very helpful! This is only a backup store for me, for like, litter emergencies and such. read more

The grooming facility at this Pet Co. was one of the worst experiences my family has ever had. We dropped our golden retriever off last Thursday for a trim and we thought everything was fine. The following Monday comes around and our dog is shaking his head and scratching at his ears where the groomer has trimmed the back of his ears. There were tons of red marks and irritated areas around his ear canals so we took him to our vet. Our vet told us it was not any infection, but they were burns from the hot clippers the groomer had left when he went in for his appointment. When we came back to the groomer they were extremely rude to us especially a young woman with short blonde hair, dark eye makeup and tattoo sleeves. She was very ignorant and rude to us regardless of the pain their facility had inflicted on our animal. We have called corporate and they are working on investigating this issue. We hope Pet Co. does the right thing and investigates who is responsible for this and makes sure they don't have untrained and unfriendly employees working at their facilities. We will never recommend and will never go back. You truly can't trust anyone with your dogs anymore these days. read more

They checked him out as 100% healthy. A week later we take him to a different vet cuz he was breathing funny and it turns out he had a bad case of bronchitis and a skin infection. We got in the same day. There were COVID procedures in place, and everything went smoothly every step of the way. All of the staff members were friendly, dog-loving professionals. I took my 6 year old grandson to petco to buy his very first fish. He wanted a goldfish. I picked up a 1.6 gallon tank and everything they said I would need for the water. Then the sales girl refused to sell me the 36 cent goldfish because she said I needed to buy a bigger tank for the fish. I told her I wasn't ready to set up a whole aquarium for him yet; I just wanted a goldfish. She still refused saying the fish would die quickly. I then spoke with a supervisor who also refused to sell me 1 single goldfish for a 1.6 gallon tank. I had to leave empty handed with a very sad grand child. Luckily I was able to get what I wanted at petsmart. How horrible to do that to a child. I don't get why they sell small tanks if you can't buy a fish for it.I even pointed out how upset she was making my grandson and she said she cared more about the life of the animal. I wonder why she didn't care about the life of the crickets she was feeding to the mice. I'll never shop there again and those employees should be fired because they do not care about their customers. I'll never shop there again. read more

** Review of Aquatic Section ** I believe when run well chain stores can offer so much to pet owners. However this store has the worst selection of fish possible. Multiple tanks have not been cleaned in a while with I'm not sure what growing all over the sides and gravel. It's obvious they do not check their tanks daily, as I observed several tanks had dead fish laying on the bottom being eaten by shrimp, or sucked into the filter. Visiting the goldfish section I saw some of the younger goldfish had ammonia burns on them, leading me to believe that the tanks were not properly cycled? The feeder goldfish were almost all dead, which tells me that this store is not concerned with providing nutritious live food to their customers. The Betta section is a whole other rant believe me. I am aware most fish suffer stress during their time being shipped, but that does not excuse the dirty cups, and swim bladder disease as well as ripped fins and two baby Bettas and one adult suffering from a bent spine. Clean water can make a world of difference to these fish! During my time spent here {25 minutes} I was not once approached and offered assistance. An employee nodded to me, but that was all. I do not recommend this as a place to get fish or any aquatic supplies. read more

Dawn always has done a great job with the girls. I have taken my girls there for many years. Myla came out soft and beautiful which certainly not how she went in. Generally it takes about 4 hours. This time it was over 6 hours. I couldn't determine if it was due to how shaggy Myla went in or the de-shedding time it took. Myla came home still damp. But I will say my fur baby looked beautiful. read more
