I took my fur baby Bentley Maltese mix today to Petco Sugarland. I can honestly say that I will only go there from this point forward. Cali my groomer was professional, detail and friendly she listened to my fur baby every need. My dog was a hot mess when I dropped him off (overgrown hair, desperately in need of nail trims, ear plucking, de-matting, etc.). I was a little concerned about Bentley (13 year old male). I rescued him back in 2017 . When I picked him up I was almost in tears from happiness. My baby Bentley looked AMAZING! The best part was hearing how great and well-behaved my dog was . This is such an odd location because walking in it felt like a zombie apocalypse in that it was empty. Anytime I saw an employee...three in total, they all looked shocked. Like, "people are here!" To further prove my point the cashier was stocking inventory and left her phone on the checkout counter for anyone to grab. More odd no one was parked in front of the store. I walked around and the place was clean, full of merchandise, and eerily quiet. I saw the first two employees working on big items and they looked at me startled. Ready to check out no one was at the check put counter. Before I called out to the only 2 people I saw in the store a woman sitting on a bench doing inventory was like, "I didn't know anyone was here!" Clearly. And that's what so weird about this place. I even drove past it this weekend and it still looked freakishly empty. Not sure how long they can sustain a crowd of 0, but for what it's worth, location aside, it's a nice pet store and will meet your needs. Just don't expect to socialize or anything. read more

Yeah. This Petco is much better than the one I frequent at Westchase Shopping Center. If I'm in Sugar Land, I usually stop by to check out their merchandise because this Petco in Sugar Land got more cat stuff, not sure if it was the timing. I could see shelves are better stocked. Not fully stocked because of Covid-19 pandemic, but enough stuff for me to linger at the store longer. I didn't have issue during check out. Cashier found my membership info quicker than other stores. Yeah. I'll be back for some real shopping when it gets warmer. Because I want to check out Oyster Creek Park. read more

My daughter took my small little mixed breed poodle in for a cut. We usually take him to the new location at the Fort Bend town center. WHoever was the groomer on Thursday June 20 was the worst ever. His cut was so horrible, we were not even charged. Rocky looks like a totally different dog. She cut extremely too much of his hair. She also spoke to me a good length of time with much patience on the phone prior to me taking in my dog for the first time to Petco for grooming. Upon picking up my dog, she expressed concerns of dry skin. Another groomer called me to tell me when my dog would be ready. $47 dollars for bath and haircut for my 15lb poodle $10 extra for matting $22 for Secret Life of Pets Package which made him smell good and his nails extra smooth. read more

Petco is a large pet store that contains everything: food, bedding, toys, grooming items, etc... This one is located in a strip mall in Sugar Land. I went in looking for Koi food. I quickly found the fish and thus the fish food. I asked the 'fish guy' how much the large bag of food I had was (as there was no label for it). He told me it was $37.99, so I headed to the register. As I walked away, he stopped me and said he was sure it was that price, not sure why he stopped me but he did. At the register, it rang up as $47, so I told the cashier and he asked if the red headed guy had told me the price, I said yes, and so he changed it. I guess this location just makes up prices... fine by me, as it appears I got a deep discount on my huge bag of Koi food. Ok, so that's all well and good and I'd love this place IF the cashier wasn't one of the grumpiest people I'd met in a LONG time. He had this angry attitude like he was mad at life. This is a small Petco, but has everything most people will need. There is a large selection of dog food, treats and toys, which covers pretty much all I need in a pet store. It it conveniently located in a mini mall near a Randall's and Chase, which also works for me. There was only one staff member I saw while I was there, but she was very friendly and efficient in checking me out. It's very difficult to trick your picky cat into believing the food he's eating is a treat, even though it's nutritious. They're like toddlers and don't even pretend like I'm a crazy cat lady saying that! It's the truth. So anyway. What brings me to Petco? My five year old picky butthead. I've been to a few different places like Natural Paws, Whole Foods, even CVS and Target to find a brand of food that will do the aforementioned trickery. Alas, I've found it! For now. It's Blue, found at Petco. It can probably be found somewhere else, but as of right now Petco was the place that got it. So now about Petco. The store is clean, the staff is... well, the staff is hit or miss when it comes to customer service but I think that's true of most corporate-run businesses, you know? The employees don't really have a stake in the welfare of the company so it doesn't reeeeeally matter to them too much to be super par on being friendly with the customer. That being said, nothing against them because, like I mentioned, it's pretty standard hit or miss. I will say, though, that every time I've walked in someone has asked if I needed help. And most times someone has asked if I needed help carrying out my litter. Oh, ya, I get that huge refillable jug in high heels. So anyway. Brought my dog for a haircut and he was in a kennel for 6 hours - he got a horrible haircut from a newbie and the punkass supervisor actually cut his mouth with shears and tried to cover it up. I have been bring Bentley to Petco for just about two years. Our first experience with another groomer was so horrible I was afraid. Bentley actually gets excited now when we pull up. He is always excited and happy when I arrive. They do an excellent job grooming him and giving me advice on how to best maintain his coat. The ladies are always polite and patient with me. The worst experience I've had at my favourite stores. I have not gone to this location often but this time just did it where I do not want to go back. I went in there to get my puppy some pumpkin puree because he's sick. There was only one girl at the cash register. I asked her if they had what I was looking for and where it would be and she basically said somewhere in the back. So I walked around for 20 mins and couldn't find it till I noticed they were out. So I ask her if she knows of any other brand and she tells me to Google it and see. Every other experience at a pet store has been so much better. This Petco is small and old and has much less variety in terms of dog food as compared to the Petsmart down the street -- minus 1 star. When you call for appointments/questions no one ever answers -- minus 1 star. The only thing that saves this sad store is their grooming department. This location has yet to be one of the best Petcos I've ever been too. I just took my golden retriever puppy for his first bath and the stylist Beatris was so great and left my baby spotless. She took really good care of him and made him look brand new. Also one of the Petco associates she was a young girl with glasses, helped us a lot by teaching us about dog food to informing us about the training classes they offered. Placed a online order, this was not the problem. However, had to return due to my dog not liking his new dog dish. Went into store for return, one lady was new and never did online returns, two so called supervisor/managers come to help and honestly made it worst. The one whom is most appalling is Kristi she is ignorant in all regards! Tells me she has to call customer service for them to do a return and all this long speech. Whole time I asked the new girl why not put my PALS rewards number in system to look it up. Back to Kristi, I said look I am very tact and if you would ask me what was done, I could tell you that never was my PALS number placed into register for new girl to look up my orders, all this was happening as they did not have my receipt only a shipping order which was placed in box (sent in three sperate boxes). Okay sorry to confuse back to Kristi, she is ignorant and definitely not keen to speaking, let alone apologize when her mouth flaps and has no clue what was happening prior to her engaging to help. To end this long story, I finally got them to put in my rewards number found my order and return my purchase. However back again to Kristi, not once did she apologize, say anything to show she was wrong. Never will I go to a Petco, overpriced and she be treated with more respect, Kristi belongs in a tow lot for work, based on attitude and demeanor. Anyhow nothing compared to service like Petsmart! I feel so disrespected after the way the manager spoke to me- I am never going back to this location again. They refused to let me return a couple of presents we got for Christmas bc I don't have the receipt- everything was unopened, in its original packaging. I simply wanted to exchange the collar for a smaller size that fit my dog and get a different brush bc I already have the same one gifted to me- He claimed that I had to return the item at the same location it was purchased at, but didn't want to go and check to see if the items had been bought from that store! Store was clean and Animals looked healthy and well taken care of. Staff was helpful and attentive. Especially Susan the manager and a sales associate Jennifer. The family's experience was very positive. Susan helped with questions about our pets and was a great source of information. Will be visiting the store again for all our pet needs. read more

I have been shopping at this store for some time and i can really tell a difference in the overall appearance of the store and employees. the store just looks cleaner and this last week while I was in grabbing some food for my baby i happened to Notice the manager helping a family that had two children. she was talking to the children, not the parents, and showing them how to do things with different dog items. Haven't actually shopped at the store but the groomers is awful. They don't answer the phone and when I called the store I was told to make an appointment on line. So I did that. I had an appointment today at 9 am but the groomer didn't show up. The store manager said she was supposed to be in but couldn't reach her so gave me no help. I was asked numerous questions about how I wanted my dog's coat to be cut. I was not told there would be an extra $10 charge for "scissoring". I asked for his ears to be cut short but they were not trimmed whatsoever. His muzzle is longer on one side than the other. This is not what I expect for $53! Especially from Petco! The customer service is horrible, I recently got a new kitten, and have been in the store many times since, managers and trainers alike are horrible. Cashiers are rude and managers seem to not know anything about pets. Was up there a few weeks ago and a bull dog jumped out of a moving truck and was in the middle of the road, many customers went in asking if petco could get the dog water, as it was hot, and brachiocephalic dogs really dont do well in heat, let alone in this poor guys situation- he had obvious spinal damage....and the managers refused to help the poor dog, or let employees assist customers in helping the little guy out. the only service there that would warrant another visit from me is the SUPER friendly and helpful aquatics department, the female supervisor over there really seems to care, and know what shes talking about. shes the only reason they are getting 2, instead of just 1 lonely star. but as far as for my canine and feline needs, Ill be going elsewhere from now on, even though this place is literally walking distance from me. the convenience is no longer worth the sacrifice. read more

It has been the main go-to pet place in Sugar Land for the most part until Petsmart came back to the area. It is on the small side, but that makes it easier to get in and out. They have a nice selection of the natural and holistic dog and cat foods too. They don't carry as many pets as they used to, but they do have lots of foster adoptable kitties there as well as have adoption days with dogs too. The people are always friendly to me there too. Make sure to sign up for a Petco Pals card to get the extra savings and deals. read more

This petco is wonderful! Very clean and the staff is helpful! HOWEVER the pet adoption center leaves little to be desired. Im 24 years old and understand the importance of finding animals permanent homes and making sure they go to good families but I think the older women that works there takes it a little too far..I've gone through pet adoption interviews before but never have I been treated so rudely. Condescending attitude right from the get go and acted as if I was wasting her time in fact she didn't even interview me because i was so offended I left. Good luck adopting a pet if you look young because she wont interview you..instead she will demand you bring a parent when you are an ADULT perfectly capable of making such decisions. This PETCO used to have helpful and great staff staff but now I only come here because it's convenient but I avoid shopping here as much as I can. For several times I've been here, the staff named Christopher at the checkout has been very unhelpful he would never do anything to help you beyond scanning your items to get you out of the store. So PETCO sends you this coupon of certain products and in the past, they'll either simply give you that discount because they know what it is, or grab one of their coupons to scan (like most stores). In fact, one of the girl did that lately. But Christopher would just tell you "I don't have that available" then look away. What's the point of joining PETCO benefit if treated like you're not their regular customer? read more

Petco is great but this is the absolute worst location in all of Houston. I live right by it but drive out of the way to the Richmond/Rosenberg location instead just to get good service. At the Sugar Land location there are maybe 3 employees visible in the whole store on a good day. On the average day you won't see any. And the manager here is definitely never in a good mood. I'm sure she's the reason this location sucks. I may call Petco's corporate number to complain because I don't want to have to keep driving out of my way because the location right next to me doesn't see treating customers like customers as a priority. read more

They will test your water for free and tell you what you need to add to stabilize it so your fish will not die. They help you decide on what fish to get so your tank will not get over crowded. They will even replace your dead fish within a month, if you bring in your receipt and deceased fish. read more

I recently took my 2 dogs to this location to be groomed. A few hours after dropping them of I received a call saying that they were ready, but one of my dogs had "bit the groomer" and the other was also being difficult. Because of this, I was told that they would not be able to finish the job. Having been to the same grooming location with both dogs with no previous issues I was shocked and came to pick them up immediately. When I did, both dogs were not only terrified, but the grooming was incomplete, completely wrong styling than what was agreed upon, and well below expectations. The only way I can describe the handling of the dogs before AND after would be untrained and unprofessional. On top of this, there was a $6.00 special handling service fee per dog, which would at least make sense if the grooming for both dogs were completed. As a customer of Petco for many years, I am extremely dissapointed and am worried for other dogs that go into the grooming department at Sugar Land. read more
