On the phone Mr. Booker seemed to understand what I wanted. I was told it would be all good... I was not. When I showed up I should've known... I showed up 4 minutes early then was told to walk my dog on the grass (so the "grass" was in between the parking lot isles which had glass) but I had trust they'd be nice then they plopped him in a crate while yelling to get a leash. I was like how do they have 155 reviews at 4.7. It must be for a good reason right?! As I went to my car a grandma was dropping off a dog at the same time so it made me feel better. When I picked him up...He then said "half his eyelashes were cut"!! As a dog mom I thought okay maybe he moved? Then when their only payment is cash or Zelle (red flag/or supporting local) he mentions my dog scratched him and I lied about the size of my shih tzu. I pick up my dog and look at his front nails and they looked ok. I should've looked at the back. When I brought Chewie into my car to see his brother they are usually so excited... Chewie immediately ran underneath my car seat and didn't get out til the garage door closed while I parked...at my house. I was livid. Then they didn't mention they cut my dogs quick "because it happens a lot", but they did mention they cut Chewie's eyelashes. My dog was so scared I could not reach to pet him once. So I called the owner the story changed 4 times. Started with "he wanted to jump off...He jumped but we got him...Then he had the lead on and tried to jump..." then finally "he could never jump w the lead on." So who knows the story because their cameras don't work-I asked. He has been boarded for many vacations and groomed many times and never showed this behavior. While on the phone with the owner I asked to see the area they were bathed in..he said that was not possible. I just wanted to see how it could've differed from his previous groomers. Extremely disappointed with the new owners/management. I've been bringing my dog here for over 6…read moreyears with no complaints. Now there are new owners (for a couple of years now) and our favorite groomer Rolisha is no longer there. My mom dropped Coco off and I was on the phone when she told them we did not want a low cut. I then had my mom go back in and I spoke with the groomer myself on FaceTime asking if the cut number they told my mom would still leave Coco fluffy since I did not want her hair low. We were assured by the groomer that she would still be fluffy! When I went to pick her up, she had a low cut. I called back (for the first time ever) to speak with management and let them know my disappointment with the service. Instead of being understanding and trying to come to a resolve, the manager/owner was extremely dismissive and argumentative, saying that the groomer told us the number and we agreed. Once I explained (again) that we explained several times we did not want a low cut and wanted her fluffy, she switched the narrative saying they had to cut her low because of matting. In the past if matting was an issue, I would get a phone call from Rolisha or the front desk explaining that and requiring me to approve the lower cut. After going in circles, I was over it and just them know how disappointed I was that they took no accountability. Again, in over 6 years this is the first phone call they've ever received from me. Extremely disappointed in the owner/management and lack of accountability. I really wish I would have gotten Rolisha's information before she left!

J-Canine and most specifically, Martine Kopka, have been a MIRACLE for our family. They were…read morerecommended to us -- by both our wonderful at-home trainer and our vet practice -- as "the best" (especially for our very active working breed dog). The care and expertise that they have shown our Buddy has been transformative... for all of us! This is a long-established care and training facility... and the dog's care, training, family integration, and safety are their hallmarks. After having our active vizsla spend 3 successful overnight stays at the farm, we opted for an intensive month-long, board-and-train stay. Buddy was kept in a very comfortable "suite" with his own indoor/outdoor access (during supervised hours), comfortable amenities, and even a lttle television for "white-noise" and company. Martine is nationally renowned and respected-- and for good reason. She is first and foremost an expert in understanding and training these precious creatures, and she is secondly SERIOUS about the training for our pup and our family. She has been open, respectful, and communicative about our exact needs, as well as Buddy's. After the very hard month (for this doting mom and dad) away from our Buddy, we returned to a pet who had tools and strategies for living politely, attentively, calmly and engaged. Martine and the J-Canine staff were patient with our frequent check-ins and always honest and clear in answering our questions and concerns. Buddy received consistent and loving-care and training -- all from a dedicated POSITIVE approach. Buddy is 18 months old, and we are realistic about the training and commitment that lies ahead. As Martine explained, he is just in "kindegarten"... but ready to move ahead... AS ARE WE! NB: If you want access to your own video cameras, frills that mean nothing to our pets (and are merely in place for our comfort), or only glowing reports about your animal, then this may not be the place for you... BUT if you want real care and serious training, then look no further! My husband and I are University professors, experienced dog-owners, and travel 40 minutes (each way) to take Buddy to this wonderful place! THANK YOU, J-CANINE AND MARTINE! But after being attacked by much larger dog, he was suffering from PTSD. We chose j-canine as we liked the look of the facility. We were so lucky to get Martine as our personal trainer. Our boy has made significant progress in just 3 visits we have had with Martine. She teaches him what he needs to know and provides videos for me to watch and detailed instructions, and off we go. Between the lessons she gives us and our boy, the instructions, and the videos she recommends and my work with him, I am so much more confident in my interactions with him and so much more capable of helping him. My husband and I are thrilled and amazed with the progress he has made in such a short time. We feel we are very close to having our precious, loving little guy back. Again, I say, we are amazed at the progress!

Their interview process was so professional; talked me through everything upfront so I knew what to expect. Facility: very clean! My dog never comes home "stinky" even after a few days of boarding and all-day play. Also appreciate the ability to check on my doggy via the live feed cameras. Staff: so far everyone I've interacted with has been very nice. I was a helicopter mom the first time I boarded my baby with them and, in addition to stalking the live camera feed (I have no shame), Devin was patient with me when I called and gave me a play by play on how my dog was doing.
