Well, I won't do that again!! We have a regular groomer that we bring Penny to but couldn't get in on late notice. So we took her to Petco on 6th. I really am kind of at fault, as I didn't take time to inspect her before leaving. They are all extremely nice people there. At least the folks I have dealt with in the past. And I'm sure they try. But I think maybe Penny's groomer needs more training. The cut was awful! (I know, she's cute no matter! She can't help it!). Lopsided on the face, a divot on her neck. I asked for a "Teddy Bear" cut, which is a pretty basic cut. And this is what we got.

The cashier was rude because I didn't want to leave a tip. This is not an obligation and her behavior was degrading and uneducated. They should work on providing good customer service. My experience with this woman was terrible. I am leaving completely disappointed. I think her name is Ladonna

I genuinely try to give people the benefit of the doubt and assume everyone is doing their best. Unfortunately, after today's experience, I feel like I need to say something. This is not our first visit. Our dog Goose has been here several times, and today was our puppy Maple's first visit. When I walked in this morning, there was no warm greeting or even a simple hello. The first things said to me by the groomers were, "Do you not get our texts?" and "We need you to be on time. We run a tight schedule." I walked in at 11:05. We are coming from Port Orchard, and when I received the text asking me to bring the dogs in earlier at 10:20, I was already on the road heading there. I understand that being on time is important, but the attitude I was met with immediately was completely unnecessary and set the tone for the entire visit. During the consultation, I explained what I wanted for both dogs. Because I was apparently considered late, I told Danielle that if she didn't have time to give Goose a full haircut, I at least wanted his face, eyes, and chin trimmed and for her to do whatever she could with the time available. Maple's groomer (will call her the lady with purple hair) asked if this was her first visit and I explained that it was and that she is about 6-7 months old. She then told me that I should have gotten her in much sooner for haircuts and to get her used to grooming. I explained that we had actually been cancelled on multiple times by them and that I booked her as soon as she had all of her vaccinations. I wasn't going to argue with her, but I found the comment unnecessary and condescending. I completely understand that a puppy's first grooming experience may need to be shorter depending on how they handle it. What I don't understand is the attitude surrounding it. Our puppy desperately needed a haircut, and I was never upset about them taking things slowly with her. I was upset by the way the entire situation was communicated. When I came back to pick them up, the attitude from both groomers continued. I was told the dogs were "a handful" and reminded again that I needed to be on time. What makes this even more frustrating is that I dropped them off around 11:00 and both dogs were ready to be picked up around 11:45. I was expecting full haircuts and baths, yet neither dog had much of a haircut at all. I'm not upset about Maple not receiving a full haircut because I understand she is a puppy and it was her first visit. However, Goose has been here multiple times, and he didn't even have the areas trimmed that I specifically asked for, including underneath his chin and around his eyes and head. I was also basically told by Danielle that Goose had "one last chance." Maple's groomer also spoke to me as though I didn't know my own dog, telling me that Maple has dew claws and that I need to play with her face and paws more. We do this regularly at home, so again, the way the information was communicated felt unnecessary and condescending. Then there were the charges. PART 2 & 3 in attached photos.

OMG- Our experience with Danielle, the head groomer, was literally the most miserable encounter we…read morehave ever had with a service provider. No joke. We're in our sixties and this is the first time I have written a poor review about someone. That's how bad it was ... My husband and I brought our dog in for a groom. It was our first time and the appointment was scheduled for 2:00. We were asked to arrive 15 minutes early for an initial consultation to meet Danielle and to discuss the particulars before the appointment was to start. Danielle kept us waiting for 25 minutes and didn't come out to greet us until 2:05. We discussed the details of our dog's cut and it was 2:20 by the time Danielle got started with the actual groom. We stood in the window and watched the groomers, which we enjoyed because it was the first time we had the opportunity to watch our dog being groomed. We specifically asked Danielle in advance if she minded if we watched and she said no, she didn't mind. We also scrolled through emails and responded to text messages while standing in front of the window. A few minutes before 3:00 pm, Danielle abruptly stopped cutting our dog's hair and she brought her out to us even though she wasn't finished with the cut. We were startled and asked her why she stopped. The groom was supposed to have been for an hour but she spent less than 40 minutes with our dog. Danielle said she had another appointment at 3:00 and didn't have time to finish. Then she accused us of tape recording her during the groom. We were startled and told her we did NOT record her. She didn't believe us so we tried to explain to her that we were just checking email and responding to texts but she still didn't believe us. She was angry and hostile and shoved our dog back at us. As you might imagine, we were stunned by the interaction ... The gal at the cash register told us the groom was $65.00. We also bought some other items which were added to the bill. After we paid, I reviewed the invoice and immediately noticed an additional $17.50 in grooming fees that had been added to the bill without our consent or knowledge. Danielle charged us an extra $7.50 for a long coat length fee and an extra $10.00 for extra handling fees. Our dog's hair BEFORE the groom was 1.5 inches long. Long coat hair fee? Really???? I asked Danielle why she charged the extra handling fee and she said it was because our dog had been difficult. I asked her to tell us specifically what our dog had done that made her difficult but she couldn't tell us. We watched the entire groom and KNOW our dog had not been difficult. She stood on the table with her head in the noose and she barely moved the entire time Danielle groomed her. I objected to the extra charges immediately and asked to speak to the manager. Delaney came out and spoke to us and handled the situation beautifully. She listened patiently as we explained what happened. She apologized for Danielle's poor behavior and she agreed to refund the $17.50 in unauthorized fees that shouldn't have been charged in the first place. While we were at the cash register talking to Delaney, Danielle comes out of the grooming room, walks by us and makes a snarky comment in an extremely rude, childish manner. Then a few minutes later, she walks back toward us, glares at us with obvious hostility and makes another comment challenging us to say something to her. Wow. Disturbing to say the least. She's obviously an angry, hostile and confrontational individual, and we would never let her anywhere near our dog again. We've had positive interactions in the past with Positive Approach so I don't want to tarnish an entire business based on one individual's horrible behavior. But I also want to warn you about the groomers' business practices and the behavior of the one groomer in particular. If you choose to have your dog groomed here, you should ask to see an itemized bill BEFORE you pay so you can review the charges and make sure you agree to them. You should also make sure the extra fees they add on are legitimate. I also want to give Kudos to one of the owners. I spoke to him the following day, told him what happened, and he agreed to refund 25% of the $65.00 haircut since Danielle only completed 75% of the cut and spent less than 75% of the hour on the groom.

I was told she was offered a great deal for the rental and some homemade dog treats. Parking was a bit confusing as the parking nearby the business was full and there was a spot that we think was free to use but not sure. As we entered, we were greeted by a staff member who let us in and the space is huge! There were plenty of toys, a dog pool, and little obstacles for dogs to enjoy to their hearts' content! They even have a hose to fill up the pool or just have your dogs chase around. There were little cubbies and lots of areas to hang leashes, coats, and other stuff on. They had Youtube videos playing too. The dog treats were so creative. They had cannoli, biscuits, and much more. All of our dogs seemed to have enjoy the treats greatly, no treats were left behind. All of the dogs seemed to be enjoying themselves as they just had so much to do or other dogs to play with. Definitely look forward to coming back here to throw future dog parties as our group loves to do little events for our fur babies.

It made me wonder about the ratio balance between humans vs dogs. I had dropped my dog off for a behavioral assessment, as we have trips coming up and I'm looking for boarding care. This is not where I'm personally comfortable leaving my pup, as the ratio seemed to be 1 human to 15 or 20 dogs in an indoor-only, less than 1500sq foot space. The good news is they are so kind and nice humans, if I was rating them they'd earn 5+++ stars as I'd leave my dog in their care anytime! The problem I had was the physical space (super tiny!) and the ratio of dogs, as they allowed 3 or 4 pups to greet my dog while 15 or so were in a hallway-type space patiently waiting and sooooo well-behaved, to greet and play. The space for playing is very limited, about 1/2 the size of a classroom, and while it's clean and the staff are super lovely, it's probably not the best fit for our pup who loves to play fetch and run. Parking is also super tricky in this neighborhood, as there isn't a parking lot or spaces reserved for the business.

My dogs actually seem happier as well, and visitors to my home have stated they are so much better behaved. I intend to take further courses from Canyon Creat K9. I had taken two other courses from another large dog training facility that uses food rewards, and positive reinforcement only. That training was confusing, critical of my learning and tied to food rewards being high value to the dog and often changing those rewards to get the response that was needed. My dog actually reverted to the behaviors that ended up with my broken arm. in other words, the training didn't stick with either the dog or me.
